Reviews of Suffield Arms
L. C.
Really lovely tasty food but comes with a price tag.
If you like tapas and fish dishes this is a great place. The pizza was also very good.
Loved the decor and very attentive staff. Nice grounds and huge garden.
We took the dessert home as we were stuffed, it was a plumb tart and was delicious.
N. B.
We went here as recommended in our holiday letting brochure. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! I have had a lot of tapas but this was by far the best! Would definitely recommend - it’s nice that there are also non tapas menu options for those who don’t fancy tapas too.
M. L.
Lovely place bar area has been kept just as it was from years ago. Then you can walk through to the modern updated part, including a roof top seating area.

What a great sister pub to the Gunton Arms. We went in on a busy Saturday and the atmosphere was great, all ages and met some local people who were very friendly. We couldn't get food as it was fully booked but we enjoyed a drink. We will definitely go back. The cocktail lounge is a great place to relax, the art is a must see. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
L. H.
Popped in to try the tapas and was delighted to find knowledgeable, friendly staff and unbelievably tasty tapas. Would recommend the octopus and calamari which were perfect with the sourdough bread. Beautiful surroundings with relaxed atmosphere. House wine was great too! Would highly recommend a visit .. or two!
M.
Very nice food and lovely grounds to eat in. Will come again while we're holidaying in Thorpe Market.
N. R.
Really unusual and large pub in rural Norfolk. We sat upstairs and enjoyed cocktails sitting on large sofas in a what looked and felt like a boudoir! Really enjoyed the chilled vibe.
K. L.
Fab food, lovely staff, great atmosphere. I love the decor. I'm not a prude but some full frontal pictures should maybe be upstairs in the wonderful cocktail bar as when I visited there were several children around. It's great to be open and have discussions around body confidence etc but from the pictures that I saw - all white ladies, size 10 or under!
I will definitely visit again thou.
L. L.
Lovely setting, quirky interior, only had a drink, but the menu looks fab, so will definitely be going back to try the tapas!
D. L.
Lovely surroundings and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.
The food was very good up until the dessert where a hair was woven into the dish, on pointing this out to the waitress the only response I had was I'll make the chef aware. I didn't challenge but I would have expected an apology, the offer of a replacement or even the item deducted from the bill so this part was disappointing.
A. R.
We went there for supper last night and had a wonderful time only marred by the slight rudeness of the lady checking us into the restaurant. The owners have spent a small fortune in renovating the old buildings and have done an excellent job in creating a restaurant/pub well worth a visit. The food is primarily tapas and was very good. Service was equally excellent and friendly and the decor makes the place a fun place to go. Let’s be clear - it’s not fine dining - but a good all round experience.
S. S.
We had been here many years ago. The transformation is brilliant. The staff were amazing explaining the menu and dishes that we were unfamiliar with. The food was tasty and took just minutes to be served. We'll definitely be back.

We visited today being a Gunton Arms fan they told us to try Suffield Arms well we were not disappointed it’s a very relaxed comfortable setting it’s a tapas based venue with extras pizza fish what ever you need.
We loved it we had tapas and pizza it’s all so full of flavour and a top notch tapas! Lee the general manager could not have been more helpful explaining the Menu and getting involved chatting to customers was a big thing for us and his words were I wouldn’t do anything less than I expect my staff to do… says it all well done Lee and all the staff at the Suffield Arms a lovely afternoon we will be back!
M. O.
Gnocchi with Broccoli, Chilli and Garlic an absolute winner. Great selection of beers on tap and good, quick service. Food comes as it's cooked which isn't a problem if you don't mind that! Tapas was delicious, and the pizza was super fresh with interesting toppings. Only let down was the sourdough which was a little stale. Their upstairs cocktail bar is such a lovely touch and the artwork is fab.

We were staying at the Gunton Arms a few minutes down the road.
The staff there told us about the newly opened sister pub, the Suffield Arms.
What an amazing place. Completely blown away.
The perfect pub/restaurant.
We love tapas. There other other items on the menu like pizza and pasta but the Spanish tapas are as good as anything I have tried in the U.K.
The head chef is from Madrid and there are other Spanish staff in the kitchen.
The building has been restored/ updated to an amazing quality.
There’s a pub bar, a pool table, a large restaurant, an upstairs indulgent and super comfortable cocktail lounge. A rooftop area and extensive garden area.
You can see this is a labour of love and unbridled style by the owner. An evolution of what Ivor created at the Gunton Arms.
Fantastic art throughput.
Made my whole weekend to go here and I rarely get this excited. Explore the whole building. The attention to detail and styling is amazing.
A. F.
Very fresh tasting pizza and tapas, good service and reasonable prices 10/10
S. W.
Visited midweek for lunch during a local walk with dog. Fantastic restoration of an old building with new sympathetic additions. A warm welcome, delicious tapas, interesting surroundings.
J. B.
My friend and I went for tapas. The choice was good and the food was excellent and fresh. Service was attentive and fast. The decor is great, giving a lovely atmosphere for a meal.
S. D.
Great atmosphere. Tapas amazing. Bit pricy but well worth the experience. Will definitely go again
Staff very friendly.
P. A.
Really interesting tapas menu. Highly rate. Photo is at dusk from the dining room.
W. H.
Superb food, lovely venue and great service. Really impressed! Over 100 miles away from us but we will be going back!
A. L.
Wonderful mix of traditional pub downstairs, opulent cocktail bar upstairs and new tapas bar and restaurant downstairs (we didn't eat, but drinks were fabulous!)
G. M.
We go here for special occasions or just a drink on a beautiful day. Bar staff seem nice and are always efficient. The food is good- both bar and restaurant. The garden is beautiful- real country atmosphere and views of fields surrounding. There is a pool table in the bar, although when it's super busy it's a little hard to play for lack of space. The toilets are bouji and as per the Gunton Arms, the decor is fun and quirky yet elegant. The prices are higher but if you find somewhere you enjoy then it's worth it. The locals are all super friendly and it seems to be frequented by people of all ages and social/economic backgrounds which really does make for a good pub. It's also right near the train station which is great. Love this place.
c.
Excellent Restaurant! Very cool and quirky interior decor, with an upstairs cocktail lounge, and bar and restaurant downstairs. Walking distance of Gunton station too, so excellent travel links 😁
M. P.
We went as a group of 6 adults and three children, it was absolutely brilliant, Lee looked after us with wine choices and the food was stunning, I would like to pick a favourite but I just can't, it was all as good if not better than the best Tapas I have had in Spain.
Big thanks and see you soon.
P. J.
Really nice food, had both tapas and pizzas and all was very tasty. Nice atmosphere and a really good selection of drinks. We went via train so we could both drink which was very convenient.
J. S.
First drink there for my husband on our wedding anniversary and something to eat. Both were lovely. Unfortunately when attempting to buy me another drink service was so slow, we left. Lovely place, food great, service could have been a lot better
L. S.
Delighted to see this place reopened! Everything was perfect from the welcome to the art on walls. A lovely ‘tapas and cocktails’ late lunch!
C. C.
Booked a table for 14:15 however was told the table wasnt ready and asked to wait for 5 minutes at the bar. Finally sat down at 14:40 and had to wait for 5 minutes for a staff member to acknowledge us and another 5 before they then realised we had no menus. We were then told the kitchen closed at 15:00. Food was excellent except for the garlic prawns which were freshwater prawns put in garlic butter , tough and tasteless. Otherwise exception food only let down by awful service. Staff all standing around maitre d desk chatting. Bar staff were exceptional. Good day out spoilt by poor service. Used gunton arms many times before with no complaints so maybe they should train staff there first.
K. G.
Amazing place, wonderfully old interior and beautiful gardens with a decent choice of real ales, amazing vegan menu and dog friendly to boot. We always come here when in the area.
G. J.
Staff excellent. Tropical rain forest birds so close. But!!!! Watch out for sausage rolls £4.50 each!!!! That's my only issue.
E. E. H. !.
Good selection of tapas. Super friendly staff and really fast service despite being really busy (which also added to the buzz) would definitely come again
B.
Probably just makes it into the top ten pubs in Norfolk, great location next to the very rural Gunton station. Pop in for some tappas or a pizza and enjoy the beautiful countryside.
D.
Loved it, food was gorgeous, staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub itself was great. Will definitely be returning.
m. s.
Looked lovely, a great selection of beers. I can't wait to go back and eat in the restaurant.
P. S.
Great food and atmosphere but not for people with any hearing difficulty and noise levels plus acoustics aren't great at all, but worth a visit
C. A.
Excellent meal. We enjoyed the different tapas and the crab pizza was delicious.
P. C.
Great experience with excellent food . Service is friendly and efficient. Decor very interesting and not as expected.
P. M.
Great tapas..fantastic pub with great decor...servce was top notch very attentive and helpful
A. B.
It was ok, a bit pretentious maybe, realaxed though and attentive staff, didn't eat here just a couple of drinks, would happily visit again
J. P.
Great food, friendly staff, lovely décor, a bit on the pricey side but worth it.
J. B.
Upstairs bar open and quiet for the time of day. Very comfortable seating and relaxed atmosphere
J. H.
Very nice inside the pub and also the garden is very nice. Beer prices are steep but that was expected. Only stayed for 1 drink but we'll more than likely come again later on in the summer.
D. A.
Spent the evening here on Friday night. Sat at the counter looking into the kitchen and had a great time.
Really high quality food, friendly staff and knowledgeable and passionate kitchen team who were friendly enough to recommend a couple of dishes to us. Everything we ate was superb and well priced.
T. H.
We received a very warm welcome on arrival at the restaurant last Saturday evening. Nicole our waitress was very attentive & super friendly, knowledgable about the place & encouraging us to explore. There was an upbeat & cheerful atmosphere which we enjoyed. Cocktails fabulous. Lobster pizza very tasty. We will return to experience the different bars & gardens this lovely pub has to offer. A perfect evening in a wonderful setting. I highly recommend the Suffield Arms.
G. L.
My boyfriend took me on a trip away from London - our first venture out was The Suffield arms. We sat up at the bar in the restaurant and had the best time - the chefs were engaging and friendly, service fantastic and the food was better than any over priced London restaurant. Could not recommend any higher!
E. W.
On entry was greeted by a nice guy who was very helpful and told us what they did and what they don't do. Ordered a couple of pints and was pleased that I wasn't ripped off like some places, £3.80 for a pint a lager, very reasonable. Sat in the gardens and it was a perfect afternoon. Will be going back soon for a meal, I understand they are excellent and will definitely be trying a cocktail on the terrace. Good to have a decent well priced pub back in the area.
l. r.
Really nice place , I love the tapas & staff are always class
H. b.
Fantastic pub, great atmosphere and the bartenders were all friendly and attentive. Great selection of rums and phenomenal cocktails!
B. L.
Great addition to local pub choices, though food is a little overpriced for the quantity.
C. M.
Back again and service, food etc still really good. Had a fab meal, then moved to the bar as table was required for next sitting. Not a problem, as was explained at booking. Knafea(?) for dessert was delicious. Recommend!
A. M.
Just a must to visit. Great Tapas, decor and service. We'll done guys
F. d. C.
superb food lovely restaurant
I will definitely go again
L. G.
Another fantastic evening at the Suffield Arms! I booked a table and mentioned my birthday, and when we arrived they had kindly put us in a private dining room off the main restaurant and even brought me out a surprise brownie and candle - very thoughtful touches which made our evening even more memorable. The food quality is excellent and the cocktails fantastic. Thank you to the wonderful staff for a great evening.
M. D. K.
Only a pit stop with our dogs, but the smells coming from the restaurant, to die for.xx will be going nxt wk to try some tapas.
P. S.
Excellent food and atmosphere staff friendly and helpful will be visiting again soon
c. B.
This was my first visit, was very impressed. Staff were all very friendly. Nice guy in the cocktail bar, Moroccan style vibe. Love the restaurant with bar stools looking into the kitchen. Bar seemed a bit soulless. 👍🍻
D. R.
Fantastic place, fantastic atmosphere, lovely warm and cosy fire in the main bar, staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help, the cocktail bar upstairs was glorious! A very inviting, warm and colourful boudoir! The only small grievance was they don't serve Pinot! I was told it was because its a Spanish restaurant, yet they serve pizza, so work that one out! The house wine was not nice! Food I'm afraid was very overpriced £9 for a small tapas of overcooked monkfish! Would definitely visit again, just wouldn't eat there
C. W.
Great food in a really wonderful and well considered setting. Some of the service wasn't great (missed a dish from our order, slow to come over for drink and food orders) but the majority of staff were a delight and incredibly happy to help. We would definitely come back here. We'd recommend getting 4-5 plates to 2 people. The artichoke tempura was incredible! I'll be thinking about them and the accompanying dip for a long time.
S. F.
Excellent food, service and environment - a great lunch and will return. What else can you say? Oh, the toilets were soopah!
m. a.
Nice pub but premium lager is £6.20 pint
A. M.
a great place to visit, the restaurant is spacious with an outlook of the garden. the staff are very polite and helpful, a varied menu of tasty food including tapas, starters, mains, and desserts.we had excellent service by Rachel making our visit a day to remember. We will be visiting Suffield Arms in near future
B. M.
Wonderfully eclectic grand establishment with 3 distinctly styled indoor areas+ roof terrace + large gardens. Extensive drink menu and tapas, pizza & pasta restaurant. Super friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere & great service. Tried half the tapas and a couple of ales this time - fantastic. Place is big and varied enough for an entire pub crawl without leaving the premises. And only a few steps from Gunton rail station and on good country cycling roads - so easy to reach from Norwich or Cromer without a car.
N. M.
Stopped for a drink but did not eat. Good looked amazing and smelt delicious
M. H.
Not as great as it has been before. Now operating a booking system for tables, not sure if that's the problem, or it was just an off night.
T. K.
Beautiful pub, great food and possibly one of the nicest gents toilets i have ever been in.
T. B.
Unbelievable, best pub experience I could have hope for. If architectural salvage and art are your interests this place will blow you away.
D. G.
Fantastic Food great service will definitely come

Lovely Mediterranean tapas, excellent wine, set in wonderfully designed, built, furnished and decorated buildings.
Gorgeous deep warm colours, sumptuous decoration and material, stunningly furnished with beautiful charismatic pieces, fixtures and fittings. Set in majestically designed and built spaces.
P. S.
Vibrant atmosphere, interesting decor, delicious cocktails and packed to the gunnels on a Friday night. Would have got five stars if not for the overpriced tapas.
G. H.
I can not fault thus place, just rocked up and got a table in 10 minutes, tapas was devine, food was really tasty would definitely go again, decor is worth the visit alone
C. G.
5* star service, great food, strong selection of drinks and a beautiful building.
A. D.
The tapas was lovely but the cocktail bar really let it down. There were kids serving and it took ages to get a drink. They don’t know how to make the cocktails!!
I. C.
Amazing pub and restaurant with lovely cosy cocktail bar up stairs. I highly recommend a vist either by car or train or by foot. Yes the train station is just across the road.
J. B. (.
My new favourite pub. Those not local, grab a train up to Gunton and stroll across to this fantastic pub. Friendly staff and excellent drinks selection
P. S.
Great food and lovely surroundings - plus it's only a 6 minute train ride from here, so no need to worry about having a sherbert or two!
M. M.
Interesting place, serving tapas style food.
Good atmosphere.
Take the train as it pulls up right outside.
G. B.
Great place but disappointed that not even a sandwich available for a Monday lunch. Several walkers and cyclists in the area may have felt the same way. Will still go back for some Tapas. Beautifully restored.
C. B.
On a week break in the area of Bacton/Walcott,, and found Great Tapas. Lovely staff and Amazing place in general.cocktail bar not open when we were there, but looked great..Got to be seen, tasted, and drank in to believe it. Really cool place 👍
R. M.
Fantastic relaxing place, from the minute you walk in you can feel the friendly atmosphere. The decor has had much thought put into it and it has a quality Aaurora about it.
I would certainly recommend the suffield without hesitation . the tapas resturant and cocktail bar must be sampled ,the food is exemplary and the cocktails served by experienced bar staff.all in all a 10 out of 10.

G. M.
Great food, good atmosphere
D. M.
Loved it here, sat outside on various summer afternoons but finally ventured in to the place.. first class all the way… is it slightly expensive? Possibly, but worth every penny.
T. W.
This was my first time back since the renovation, and what a brilliant job they've done! You can see the same level of attention has been paid to this venue as to the Gunton Arms. If you're headed to the coast by train definitely plan in a stop here on your way.
D. W.
Great pub, excellent restaurant, the only fault is there are televisions in both that are permanently on and watched by no-one except possibly the staff.
L. P.
The giant prawns were amazing! Service exceptional great day little pricy for my liking but well worth every penny
M. G.
Had a lovely lunch in the garden, good selection of Mediterranean style tapas and decent real ales.
l. b.
Food was delicious and serving was so friendly and knew so much about the menu - amazing place!
l. h.
Been here twice, superb food on both visits but service wasn't as good on second visit 😪 had to ask on 2 occasions when part of the order was not forthcoming and then a non ordered 2nd dessert turned up 🤷♀️. Will definitely visit again as food is delish but please pay attention to service guys 😁
L. H.
