Reviews of The Lighthouse Inn Walcott

So good we went back a couple of days later! It gets busy so advisable to book. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious! We will definitely be back when we visit Norfolk again. On the first visit I ordered the seafood platter as a main course (it was a starter for two). It was HUGE and an absolute bargain.
J. G.
Great food at good value. Went for an evening meal whilst staying in the nearby camp site. Enjoyed it a lot so came back for Sunday carvery the next day which was equally enjoyable.
K.
Lovely place to stop and have a bite to eat or a drink in the sun. Friendly staff, good menu and nice beers on tap. The seafood is excellent too - sadly no crab when we visited this time, but the seafood platter was filled with alternatives and really was exceptional.
G. B.
Well, this was a find. My wife Joy and granddaughter Katie enjoyed an evening at the Lighthouse. Great staff, great humour and the food first class. Thanks to you we will return.
M. H.
Had lunch and a beer. Very nice. Food was excellent and good beer. Dogs welcome which for us was a bonus. Good value.
Z. K.
Absolutely brilliant find!! Amazing menu, all local produce, cooked to perfection, great value and such friendly staff and service
M. H.
My husband and I had the roast beef whilst our friends had a vegetarian options. All four of us said how delicious our meals were. Will definitely return.
A. B.
We have just had one of the best lunchtime meals ever. A family of 9 visit for a birthday. A few had sea food starters which were brilliant. Then nine main meals that included chicken wings, burger, lobster risotto, steak, fish and see foot platter. Every meal was exceptional including the service. Will visit again.

Never been so sad to leave a place. I enjoy the unique beers they got on for sale as well staff so lovely and kind. (They deserve pay raise).
And thought fancy some chips and my gosh!!! The size and large chips was worth prices covered in vinegar and salt make McDonald's chips jealous.
Just wish they up later then 8pm this be ideal place take my mates for drinks and laugh
M. B.
I have just written a review and ran out of space before I got to the food ! So shorter version. Lovely friendly staff and plenty of them. Special mention for our server Lolita, excellent service. Food wholesome, beautifully cooked, value for money. Highly recommended. Will return....

Primarily for captive customers from its own camping & motorhome site, plus next doors Nelsons Patch site. Lunch time visit, a table was available clean well set out, wide food offering, leaning towards sea food, a great sea food platter for two was seen and looked fantastic. We had chicken curry and a Ceaser salad both tasty and an ample amount, though I would say alittle pricey but probably due to the location. Oh and dogs are welcome. Overall experience was ok but nothing of note.
K. C.
Lovely pub,sat in the garden with our pets, great service friendly staff and the best chips ever!!!
M. A.
just had a 'light lunch' with our visiting daughter and new son-in-law at The Lighthouse, it was voted the best meal of the weekend by far by all four of us...as for being starter/light lunch, we declined to look at the dessert menu as none of us could manage another
morsel!
In fact my husband's prawn tacos and side of chunky chips (best ever!) would be enough for the 2 of us to share for lunch any day ...possibly leaving a little room to be tempted by dessert... very happy that this will be our local soon..we will definitely be back, frequently.
l. l.
Dog friendly, great customer service, terrific meals. Highly recommended.
j. m.
Camping great small site but ideal to move around the coast 10 min walk to Walcott beach front, great pub called poachers pocket. And king Fisher cafe is located well for breakfast on the front
J. W.
Stopped at the lighthouse for a Sunday Lunch. The pub was spotlessly clean as always and the staff are friendly and helpful. We opted for the Roast Beef Lunch and didn't have long to wait. The meal was well presented with tasty and well cooked vegetables. Unfortunately on this occasion the beef was rather tough and proved to much of a challenge for my wife who took most of her meat home in a doggy bag. At least he enjoyed it.
We have had many a nice meal at the lighthouse and this was the first time we felt a little let down.
T. D.
Superb. We had the seafood platter and it was amazing! Two of us munched our way through the huge platter which really could serve three or even four people. Included was one and a half succulent lobsters, two dressed crabs, an abundance of different sized prawns, super tender squid, and smoked salmon, with an assortment of breads, dips and salads. A real treat! Great human and dog friendly pub with a pleasant garden and camp site in a lovely east Norfolk location near sandy beaches. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you Lighthouse staff!
O. R.
What a lovely place! Delicious food, generous portions, great welcome and friendly service. We enjoyed ourselves so much we came back the following evening for more seafood.
S. H.
We visited twice during our stay in Bacton. The staff are friendly & the food is very nice. Go hungry because you get large portions! A special mention to the lovely Sophie, who very kindly offered us a lift home. Above & beyond customer service! Would definitely recommend.
A. G.
Wonderful place ! Great friendly Staff and Food beautifully cooked and served. Reasonable prices. Large outdoor area if the weather allows and so close to the coast you could walk.Strongly recommended!
J. J.
Amazing food, huge portions and fantastic prices, will definitely come again
J. L.
Had a lovely meal there yesterday. We was recommended the Linguine with lobster and chilli by a lovely lady named Jackie and it was delicious. All the staff were very friendly with a very relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.
P.
My wife and I visited on Sunday 30th for a Sunday roast. Absolutely delicious. The beef was so tender, my wife chose to have the nut roast and has never had one as nice as that . If we're ever in the area again, we would definitely return .
W. M.
Just had a meal with my wife, brother in law and sister in law. Really great food, excellent choices on the menu, very friendly and helpful staff. Brilliant all round and thoroughly recommended.
S. G.
After a walk along Walcott front, we decided to eat at the lighthouse. The place wasn't particularly busy, but friendly and inviting. We ordered lamb and chefs casserole, which happened to be pork stroganoff. Both dishes were delicious and cooked superbly. Service was both polite and swift.
N. S.
Best seafood platter ever! Friendly staff and good facilities👍🙂
E. J.
Great home cooked food. Friendly staff, nice beer garden.
Stayed in the car park in our motorhome, there is also a campsite that is very nice.
Dog friendly.
P. L.
We managed to get a walk in table on a Sunday evening. We both had Sunday dinner, the pork wasn't as cooked as we like it, the beef was tough as old boots and you needed a chainsaw to cut the yorkshire pudding. On the plus side the veg wS cooked to perfection and the staff were lovely. Oh but £6.60 for a pint???
d. b.
The best Sunday roast I’ve had out. Well worth a visit I will definitely be going back during my holiday. Staff very friendly and lovely to take my dog with me
S. C.
Lovely meal, but amount dogs at night unbelievable. But never interfered with us. Only 1 accohol free beer!!! Never came back to see if wanted something else.
G. Y.
Dog friendly pub with a traditional menu, portions are generous and quality is excellent. Friendly staff and a nice beer garden with nicely spaced out tables (useful if you have a couple of big dogs.
E. E.
Delicious food, good service & great value for money.
I have to say I was quite dubious about eating here after some recent negative reviews but we are staying local & thought we’d try it. And we had a great meal & the service was really good. I had the steak & ale pie & my wife had the classic burger. Both were delicious! And we had the banoffee pie for dessert which was also yummy. Yes it’s not the best looking place but the quality of food & the service make it well worth the visit. I wish I could go again to try more things on the menu.
A. G.
The food here is amazing. Opted for the steak and ale pie and the portion size was huge. Food was delicious and even came with an extra gravy boat. Well worth a visit. The pub is dog friendly and the staff were very helpful. We've booked to go back again before the end of our holiday.
J. C.
Great pub, staff very good and helpful, 3 course x mas meal very tasty ,hot and plenty of it thank you
J. R.
Food was really tasty and fresh. Staff were so helpful aswell and very well priced.
J. B.
Very friendly pub.... Fairly quiet when we visited so we're served quickly.. Good varied menu... Not expensive and food was good hot and delicious.. I had the scampi and my other half had a massive portion of gammon eggs and chips.. Which he declared hit the spot!! I would imagine it gets very busy in high summer so probably need to book a table if more than a couple of you.
A. y.
Popped in tonight after another establishment let us down last minute. Food was excellent and prices of both drinks and meals very reasonable. Fish was huge on my fish and chips. Really polite attentive and down to earth staff. Even did us a child's pudding despite it not being a menu item which was really nice.
C. B.
Lovely welcoming place, staff were superb. The sirloin steak was melt in the mouth & the cod & chips were lovely, huge portions!! Desserts were outstanding too, thoroughly recommend having a trip to The Lighthouse Inn!
r. c.
Excellent food, we had lobster and salad. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is dog friendly, which is a bonus. I can recommend this restaurant, will definitely come back.
j. i.
Just reopened after covid. Very well thought out layout. Everything you need. Food fantastic & very well priced. Staff were great, friendly & attentive, without being over the top. Happy to go back again.
A. C.
Food was lovely, quick service, sat in the beer garden on a nice sunny day with the dog. Kids meal was also fab.
S. M.
Ate here twice while on holiday, good service, good menu, child & dog friendly. Able to book at short notice. Two very nice evenings.
E. M.
A very enjoyable lunch. Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend especially as it is a dog friendly establishment.
N. D.
I arrived here bank holiday Monday at 10am walked cautiously through the door, wondering whether it was open. I was greeted by the owner with a smile, who offered me a coffee before I had asked if they were doing food at this time. I had an English breakfast very enjoyable.
D. W.
After a very long walk this pub this certainly an oasis! Good food and beers all at reasonable prices along with good service.
A. S.
Had a lovely lunch here in the garden. Helpful staff. Generous portions and reasonabley priced. Dog friendly.
c. s.
Great food and great for dogs as their allowed in. Very nice beer garden with shade for the pups. Staff very friendly water bowls on hand if it's hot.
J. P.
I've always stopped at the Lighthouse Inn on my visits to Walcott over the years, the food is on the whole very good, the seafood platter is amazing & the staff are very friendly, but I do have to agree the lasagna was burnt and very oily, small portion too for the price hence the 4 stars.
J. T.
We dropped in for a meal with our 2 kids. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent. I had the chilli and really enjoyed it. We will be back, thank you.
J. T.
Amazing food, friendly staff....nothing was too much trouble. So happy we discovered this restaurant on a short trip to norfolk

Came here today for an early dinner after my MIL reccomended it & we do not regret coming.
The food was delicious, fresh, came out piping hot & prices are great value for the portions.
Another great aspect was the staff, attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
Definitely worth a visit
K. W.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Accommodated our handful of a puppy! Had a lovely sandwich and chips
G. H.
Very basic, needs a bit of an uplift decor wise, but fine for a quick lunch.
K. M.
Good food at a reasonable price. Sadly only one ( Beck's blue ) alcohol free beer.
T. E.

Fantastic pub, staff were amazing and a credit to the place! Food was beautiful, came out quickly and great portions! If we find ourselves up in Norfolk again, will 100% pop in again!

Me and my family had a thoroughly enjoyable meal! Brilliant service alongside polite and caring staff. Food was delicious and perfect portion sizes. Would highly recommend! Would love to come back here soon!
Thank you so much! :)

Camp site and pub. Campsite excellent for touring vans with water and power at pitches. Small facilities block with single shower etc per gender. Pub friendly with good beer and nice meals. Coffee shop also attached. A nice place to stop
L. A.
What a warm and friendly place The Lighthouse Inn is! The staff are welcoming, the food has been smashing every time we have been there and it has always been an enjoyable visit. Keep up the good work and see you soon.

C. B.
Food was excellent very generous serving. Service also first class.
P. S.
Excellent food good service staff friendly and helpful
S. K.
Excellent food. Great staff. Very well priced. Don't be deceived by the outside of the place, it's lovely inside !
l. S.
Great traditional pub. We both had a burger which was really nice-it was a fat butchers burger in a finely toasted 'proper' burger bun (ie none of that shiny brioche stuff!), served with very tasty hand cut chips, excellent value. Very dog friendly and friendly, chatty staff. Would definitely go back if we were out that way again.
M. C.
Lovely friendly pub/restaurant with great good. Dog friendly. People friendly. Good service. Also has cafe inside. Nice location.
J. P.
14.02.22 visited with family gathering for a mid-day buffet which was first class. Most welcoming reception and the food provided was top quality and excellently presented .
J. L.
Great meal with good service as always.

First time visit today and left very impressed
Roast beef Sunday lunch was delicious ( rest of the menu looked inviting as well)
Good choice of drinks available.
Staff very efficient and friendly.
Will Certainly call again.
Looks like a good beer garden for outside drinks and food come springtime
N. K.
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful.
Will go back

We were 'those customers', an awkward group with dietary needs, kids menu variations, almost bespoke main meal, the works. Honestly, I wouldn't have wished us on anyone.
Our waitress was an absolute star. She was patient to a fault, checked with the kitchen, checked with us, the works. The food is what I consider good honest pub grub and is spot on.
Would definitely recommend.
J. A.
We come to this part of Norfolk every year for a week for our anniversary and always visit the Lighthouse at least once. New owners since our last trip but still an excellent pub and restaurant. It has become slightly less 'pub' and a bit more restaurant which is a good thing. Great food and atmosphere.
H. H.
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve been here and since then the owners have changed and the place has been refurbished, very nicely done, staff were friendly and lovely home cooked generous food, in fact none of us could finish our meals! Love how dog friendly they are, we will be visiting again very soon 👍
S. G.
Delicious roast beef Sunday lunch, very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
E. M.
Havnt been there for a while but it was luvly met old friends and the food was excellent will go again with more family thank you

We came across The Lighthouse Inn, whilst meandering, from Marsham to Brampton, Oxnead to Swanton Abbot, Worstead, where we stopped & got out to visit the magnificent church, a tiny hamlet which thrived on the woolen trade to supply the weavers. Now a fleece is almost worthles.
Onwards through Brigatte, stopping at Honing St. Peter & St. Pauls church to view.
Offloading our bikes, for a short ride, interrupted by the necessity for maintenance.
Reloaded, we continued through Ridlington, & Witton, opposite;
The Lighthouse Inn, Walcott NR12 0PE
We decided to stop, eat & imbibe.
We were greeted cordially, to table inside the air-conditioned Country Inn.
Rejuvenated of a Greek salad, ice cream called us to Walcott 😋 beach.
A delightful day out in the countryside.
R. R.
Food is OK and staff very pleasant but beer not well kept.
N. W.
Really friendly and efficient service. Steak was delicious 😋
M. E.
How lucky to find The Lighthouse, passed it coming back from seal watching, decided to try an evening meal. Excellent food, service and value. Will definitely be back.
I. K.
Lovely clean and tidy place with very friendly helpful staff.
Nice menu well priced.
Let down by Scampi and Chips.
Trouble finding bits of scampi, peas not the best and chips could do with a couple of more minutes
Mate said steak and ale pie was lovely.
N. L.
Lovely old pub! Whilst we were not allowed inside when we visited (owing to regulations), the staff were very accommodating with suggestions as where to sit to keep as warm as possible against the cold wind. The food (Crab Salad, Steak and Ale pie, Banana Toffee Waffle, and Spotted Dock with Custard) we had was excellent. The staff were very attentive which was well appreciated. The establishment is dog friendly and ours got plenty of attention. We would definitely revisit!!
K. A.
Lovely place. Staff were super friendly and bounced off each other. Its lovely to see when co-workers get on so well - creates a lovely atmosphere. They managed to find us a space even though we hadn't booked. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Will be back soon!
R. B.
The friendliest staff you'll meet, everyone was so lovely. Super cosy independent pub with great portion sizes and variety. Would highly recommend either for Sunday lunch or after a long walk!
C. J.
Staff really friendly, great for taking dogs.
Food tasty, a friend had the steak pie, said it was the best she'd had in a long time. 5 clean plates is testament enough.
j. b.
The most amazing food I've ate, she staff are so kind, it's dog friendly and the food is fresh definitely recommended.
T. G.
I only wish I'd come here sooner in my holiday and had time to return. The most delightful, friendly staff who welcomed us, a baby and a dog. Great food and beer garden and felt completely covid safe. Thank you for such a fabulous family meal.
G. F.
Great food and drink staff lovely and dog friendly
G. A.
Lovely meal great staff & not 4getting Roland. Yer good old Roland the rat 🐀 🤣 bless it .110% will ve back very soon .
M. S.
Really good food and very friendly service! We went twice during a 5 night stay and every course we had was fantastic - especially the sea bass which was cooked to perfection with lovely crispy skin. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area!
B. L.
We were camping in the site attached to the pub but waited until our last morning to have lunch here. The pie was amazing! Friendly and attentive service, lovely atmosphere (big fan of the music) and a nice choice of drinks. Having been to a couple of other pubs in the area over the previous few days this was by far the best - will return when next in this part of Norfolk :)
G. H.
This is a lovely situated pub near Walcott, with a nice big garden to sit outside. However, once we were sat and our drinks were delivered they got my mum's order wrong, not a good start! It then took ages until someone came to take our order and then there was another very lengthy wait until it arrived. The food itself was okay, but certainly not worth waiting all that time for. I don't think I'd come back here, based on my experience.
P. L.
very pleasant and comfortable place to visit. Staff are very good and attentive.
R. R.
Visited for the first time and had a really lovely meal steak and ale pie with fresh veg and lovely gravy staff are very nice and attentive nice outside area reasonably priced and will return to try more of there menu
F. D.
Delicious meal in pleasant surroundings. Very attentive staff
K.
Lovely Sunday roast with proper, homemade Yorkshires. Great and attentive service, no rushing despite being mega busy. Only negative was that waiting staff didn't seem to know where tables where (probably rearranged due to Covid) and so food arrived less hot that it could be due to wandering around for a while! But overall, fantastic! Highly recommended.
S. S.
Lovely meal despite being on the last booking. Very good service & looking forward to going back. Staff are friendly & attentive.
T. D.
Lovely food and friendly staff
B. R.
Nice place to eat. Home cooked dishes. Friendly staff. Ample parking.
C. G.
Cracking coffee, bacon roll and cake during a cycle ride.
C. H.
We always visit this pub when on holiday. It has all changed in the last 2 years since we were last there. We have eaten here twice in the last 3 days and it's wonderful!! The changes, that have been made, are excellent. The marquee has now gone, to leave a big beer garden with lots more seating. Great idea! The menu has changed and it is great. The food is fabulous and the staff are so friendly and polite. We may have to make another visit here before we, sadly, have to go home. Well Done to everyone at The Lighthouse Inn- a fantastic pub with great food and a great atmosphere.
J. R.
Lovely food served by friendly welcoming staff.
S. F.
Lovely lunch today at the lighthouse inn, great atmosphere and very friendly staff especially the man behind the bar who I guessed was the owner or manager. Food was great and the pricing is very reasonable too! Will definitely come back on our next trip down! Also hand gel stations available to use on entry and exit along with a box to leave a number for test and trace, felt very safe and looked after! Also dog friendly so big bonus for us!
P.
Friendly staff. Lots of seating inside and out. Large choice of food and drink. Good sized portions and excellent quality of food.
S. R.
Fabulous Sunday lunch quick friendly delicious
S. M.
Great place to go. Very dog friendly. We both had fish and chips it was a huge portion!
P. O.
Lovely restaurant. Food was great with plenty of choice. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, especially assisting with a friend who has allergies. Lots of car parking and reasonably priced food. Will definitely return!
D. B.
Very big portions and they were very polite and dog friendly which was great for us
E. G.
Used to love coming here but it was chaotic to say the least, to be fair they did warn us they they were short staffed and we weren't in a hurry. The food was nice enough but not particularly special. Boy they know how to charge for dinks though, pint of orange and lemonade was more than a pint of beer! Won't stop us trying again because I'm sure they can do better but only 3* this time I'm afraid
M. C.
Vast improvement on what this pub used to be. Good pub food, their mussels were particularly delicious.
J. H.
The staff were great. It became quite busy, but everyone was socially distanced. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to get things right. Good pub fayre. We had burgers, but the crab salad looked fantastic. Use the map on their website for lovely circular walk from pub. The campsite looked as if there were generous plots. All meals were btn £8 - 10. Cakes were lovely. We visited a couple of times for coffee & cake after a walk & main meal. They need to put menu on website - its good.
D. A.
Super friendly staff, food delicious.
S. H.
Had a lovely meal, the prices are good, staff were very friendly and the place was very clean , I would definitely recommend The Lighthouse Inn to anyone x
A. (.
We checked the website that boasted of kids entertainment and advertised a varied and interesting menu. We called ahead and booked, only to discover on arrival there was no entertainment for kids whatsoever and the menu that was on offer was a tiny fraction of what was shown on its website.
The food was fine if a very small and uninspired selection ( about a third of the small menu was already unavailable at 6pm). The price was about right and service was decent, but the experience was certainly not as good as it should have been.
J. A.
Food was great, can recommend this restaurant/eatery
C. A.
Friendly staff and great food, nice atmosphere
B. h.
Excellent food. Friendly staff and reasonably priced.. web site stated camp site full but only one van on it. Not a problem stayed in the overflow car park and was allowed to empty fill up and use the showers. Great place would recommend. Had evening meal and returned in the morning to breakfast. Couldn't fault quality or service. Extremely covid safe. With all guidelines followed to the letter. Felt very safe.
A. M.
We had a nice meal and it was reasonably priced. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu may have been reduced like other restaurants due to covid. Having said that our meal was very nice and the biscoff cheesecake was delicious.
D. J.
Great place to eat, friendly staff, plenty of parking, large beer garden. Touring carvan pitches available next to the pub plus brand new fully serviced pitches available on the left side of the pub entrance.
J. F.
Pedestrian beer selection. We ordered promptly for main course and dessert but were somewhat rushed from our table. At least two items we ordered were not available. The seafood platter was OK.
C. J.
We have eaten here twice in the last week. Good food and great value for money.
In the current situation, we had felt safe as all the staff had been wearing face shields or masks - until today, when a member of staff without a face covering brought a drink to the table and stood far too close, ignoring the current guidelines. We mentioned this to another member of staff and were shocked to learn that the person without the face covering was a manager!!
J. H.
Great service, good beer and nice atmosphere.
Been going for years now, under different owners and it never fails to deliver. Nice place to have a cold beverage in the beer garden on a summers day.🍻😎
Always recommend 👌
M. C.
We ate here tonight and had a pint - we didn’t need to book but called ahead just incase and they said to just walk right in. The place is very beautiful and clean and all Covid rules are being adhered to well. The staff were super friendly also. I had the stacked burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had (I’ve tried a lot of burgers!). My partner also very much enjoyed his pie! Would 100% visit again, wishing we had a place like this close to where we’re from!! Thank you!
k. F.
Lovely pub/cafe. Covid aware, all felt clean and safe. Very attentive and friendly staff. Menu varied and very good value. We had lobster and crab salad for £10! Delicious 😀. Dog friendly too!
D. C.
We're here on holiday and this was our first night. The Inn came highly recommended so we thought why not. Friendly staff and more than enough seating space. I like the fact it has it's own camp site as well. Good meal and pudding selection. I had the Haddock and Mozzarella fish cakes and they were lovely. I'd recommend them to anyone. I prefer to pay when food is ordered so you're not hanging around when you've finished eating so that's another plus for me. We are definitely going back again before we return home
G. W.
Greeted my very welcoming staff.
Food was good quality.
D. M.
Had the generous portion of the steam and ale pie. Good service and tasty pie and chips.
B. S.
Easy access from the road and easy parking. Staff here make you feel welcome. Plenty of tables, inside and outside. Plenty of choice on the menu, also on some of the menu items you have the choice of smaller or larger size meals. My wife had the hunters chicken, it tells you on the menu there is a 40 minute wait for this, my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the homemade steak and kidney pie, went for the smaller size but it was so good I wish I had chosen the generous size portion. The toilets were nice and clean, with hot water and no nasty smell. Would definitely come back here again if we are ever in the area.
S. R.
Breakfast visit; friendly, proportionate but reassuring covid-19 approach. Plenty of space, tables well spread out outside. Breakfast was very nice. They may have had a staff shortage today though as whilst it wasn't packed ( a couple of cyclist groups and a few couples with dogs) it was quite a wait. Nice place, nice ambience. Good coffee too.
J. C.
We saw all the lovely lights from the road and decided to drop in for dinner - glad we did! Really relaxed vibe, the staff were all so lovely, and everything we ate and drank was delicious. The menu is not huge, and initially seems a little bit expensive for pub food - but you get what you pay for, and I would think that most people would find something they like the look of on there. It's definitely good, honest food. The puddings board looked incredible - we'll be coming back to try that! It was very quiet when we visited off-season and felt like quite a large space, will be interesting to see how it packs out during the summer.

My first experience of coming here was with my partner and his family. It's a regular or there's and I can see why they come so often. A beautiful delicate pub that allows children and dogs in specific areas. Food was great value for money and was lovely. The atmosphere was beautiful and what I enjoyed was the genre of music playing on the radio as it reminded me of my grand parents. Will definitely return!
C. W.
Great salad - excellent service. Had to knock a star off for the lack of decent beer, and the veggie Thai curry was a let down. As a whole though well worth a visit.
N. D.
Good service and foodies - just what we need!
R. G.
Charming little site.. Slightly unkempt.. Adds to the charm.. 5 pitches for MOHO one is called Dogger..??? I'm sure we could rock up without a booking and nobody would notice.. Great pub 1 shower for him & her.. That's enough.. 10 minutes from an amazing beach.. Worth a look.. Great stay.. Many thanks..
K. V.
Really honest good food, lovely surroundings & friendly staff. A super place to stop off. xx
A. J.
Was recommended in Times newspaper as place to eat in Norfolk was not disappointed
D. C.
Very nice referbishment since I was here 6 years ago a more pleasant visit.
c. r.
Had a very good Sunday roast in the garden. Lots of space, quick service and really nice staff. Good for seafood too. They don't do food on a Monday.
J. H.
My wife and I had meals there 3 times in the week, all of which were very enjoyable and good value for money, some might say a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. All the staff were very polite and helpful and smiling. The steak and kidney pie deserves a special mention.
K. L.
Lovely friendly public house, food excellent, service brilliant. Lovely coffee shop inside pub that does home made cakes, presentation good. Will definitely come again
March 2022 just went into coffee shop had coffee and cake very nice!
D. C.
Had a very good, if slightly pricey Full English here on the last morning of our Norfolk holiday. Owners and staff were very welcoming and our two Beagles were right at home in their beer garden. I recommend it!
C. C.
If you’re in Norfolk near Cromer this place is worth a visit. Lovely, reasonably priced food with great hospitality.
We walked in on a sunny but windy Tuesday afternoon, all 13 of us, and asked for a table (got one no waiting) and they could not do enough to accommodate the fussy eaters and the gluten and dairy free people.
I would highly recommend this place.
N. A.
We arrived last Tuesday not knowing what to expect. With Covid we were worried how the camping and evening meal would work out. We didn't need to, the little camp site was clean and well laid out and the food in the pub was excellent.
We had our temperature taken as we arrived and felt as safe as you can these days. Well done, we will be back.
J. M.
We've been several times now during visits to North Norfolk over the years & The Lighthouse Inn has always delighted. Today we had Steak & Ale pie with side veg, mash and gravy as well as Fish & Chips with a cracking side salad.
The Lighthouse Inn is dog friendly so we were able to take our beloved pooches with us which makes our hols all the more special. Service is friendly and the owners always thank customers for their business, a lovely personal touch. We'll be back on our next visit. I hope others enjoy it as much as we did.
D. R.
We stopped and had tea at this lovely friendly pub. Well run with friendly staff and landlord. Pet and children friendly. We were a family of 8 and the food was excellent and came quickly. Great sized meals and value for money. Thank you we will come again.
S. N. B.
The most attentive welcoming and accommodating staff. The food was delicious and would definitely return. It was our first meal out in a restaurant since lockdown. They have wipes/sanitizer in bathroom which is fantastic. It is the best set up I have ever seen. They have thought of everything and an absolute credit to staff working here.
A. C.
We had a really good meal the service personell were very pleasant and veryvgood. Thank you all for making the time with you very good.
T. F.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere.
C. L.
After a disappointing welcome by one of the male owners Kim saved the day and solved the problems that had arisen on our arrival.
The service in bar wast 1st class and the restaurant matched it the food was fab and sensibly priced.
Needless to say did not see me grumpy again all weekend and Kim and the rest of her team made our stay fab, can't wait to get back there.
P. P.
We have just eaten the best Sunday lunch at the Lighthouse
Beef was thick slices and very tender served with Yorkshire puddings and a variety of veggie
There is a choice of eating inside or in a large garden
Would definitely recommend this pub 👍👍
J. T.
Nice setting and efficient friendly staff. Only complaint - vegan options not labelled ve. Poor waiter had to keep checking so I felt like a bit of a nuisance.
J. N.
Pleasant pub with an emphasis on dining. Food was good at a reasonable price. Friendly atmosphere. Children were welcomed, but you can get away from them. There is a large garden. They also have a camp site. I saw a few caravans but not sure about tents. Beer was good but not a great range
P. H.
Stopped here on route home for a bite to eat. Food was good, service was quick and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
D. E.
Had a very nice steak last night, generous portion of chips with it. The chips were homemade too, very nice.
Biker friendly too, was asked how far my friend and I had come etc no wierd looks at the mad people in armour lol
They do food until 2230 as well which is a rarity for most pubs.
Also very comfy chairs and atmosphere, was quite content to sit and natter for a bit before and after the meal
H. B.
Very nice breakfast staff very friendly
R. L.
Sadly we only found this wonderful Pub on the last day of our holiday. The food is excellent properly cooked vegetables, not the normal freezer sludge and a superb well made Steak pie. The landlord Steve is a gem he entertained my 6yr old Grandaughter while we waited for our food. We will certainly go back and if you are in Norfolk you really must visit this brilliant hostelry.
K. K.
What a great place to have a wonderful meal.
Value for money and the service is amazing m
Had a lovely meal with the guys from the Rookery.
Thank you for all you done for us. We will be back..
s. s.
Really lovely pub, warm and welcoming. Good covid precautions.
Friendly staff.
Next time will stay for food as it looked amazing.
E. W.
Quiet Saturday afternoon spent in this lovely country pub. Top quality food and drink at a reasonable price.
K. C.
We found this place by chance on a Sunday drive. The welcome was very warm and genuine. The steak and kidney pie was awesome and yes the gravy is lovely. I had a prawn salad all I can say is I was so full. I'm sure I had a whole bag of prawns!! There was plenty of everything, none of this half a tomato business I'm sure I had at least 2 sliced up. I was very impressed with our waiter. Finally there was no annoying moment when you have a mouthful and someone comes and asks "is everything ok" . We shall be returning.
A. B.
Nice place that is a gem in the Norfolk countryside. We went back twice whilst staying in our caravan nearby. The salads are very good and would recommend. The Inn is dog friendly which is another plus. Will be back next year.
J. B.
Lovely pub garden and great fish n chips
C. F.
Nice surprise had a brill meal here.
b. s.
Excellent pub with great food and beer, camping optional.
N. S.
Amazing pub, with a fantastic owner! He's owned the pub for all the time we've been going (30+ years). And in that time he's made it perfect for owners of dogs, children, parents, grandparents......... ;)
I have literally never met a landlord/owner with the same passion/enthusiasm as he has.
Just go. Don't take my word for it. Go find out for yourself. I promise you will not be disappointed x
B. B.
Had lovely fish & chips here on Friday so booked for Sunday lunch. All a bit disorganised- think they were overwhelmed with the no. of diners but we enjoyed our roast beef when it came & had a good time
M. G.
First time in this pub. Was great food at a decent price, plenty of staff around and all very nice. Just a shame they run out of specials, surf n turf with lobster sounded promising.
J. L.
Absolutely incredible food, brilliant service. Extremely polite and helpful staff. Honestly one of the best meals i've ever had in a uk restaurant! Very reasonable prices for such a great meal.
H. C.
Caravan and camping site at Walcott Lighthouse we'll worth a visit. Delightful! The lighthouse Inn, which is the other half of the business, sells a wonderful range of ales and an excellent choice of menu. Definitely going back and would give 10 stars if I could.
I. D.
Great pub. Tasty home cooked pies, friendly people and a comfortable campsite too.
C. W.
Decor rather tired and stuck in the 70s, and beers rather uninspiring.
We had to wait a while for food, as the kitchen seemed to be having some problems on the night we went. However, when it arrived, food was of a good quality, and worth the wait.
Staff were welcoming and helpful, and the pub is dog friendly.
N. H.
Food was lovely, our main waitress didn't seem to really no what she was doing never offered sauces,my daughters main came out bout 5 mins after ours.
S. F.
Excellent very accommodating to my dietary needs and this on a Sunday in the middle of a full lunch sitting. Felt very safe in covid situation inside pub . Staff very polite and helpful, will definitely be back in the near future
G. B.
We came to the Lighthouse looking for two things, a dog friendly pub, and good food. Suffice to say both were met admirably. The staff were prompt and friendly and as for the food, I gave to reccomend the home made Steak and Ale pie, the crust was half an inch thick and lovely big chunks of meat, served either with mash and veg or chips and peas. Great selection of drinks including cask beers. Highly recommended!
K. R.
Staff great. Had the social distancing spot on. Plenty of seating inside and out. Lovely coffee shop as well as bar. They do bbq and the food looked amazing. Will stop for a bite next time.
C.
Top quality food, I had a delious 8oz angos burger served with the nicest chips I've had. Although I instantly regretted ordering the burger after seeing the stake and ale pie being placed in front of my parents. Will be going back again to try the pie.
I can not recommend this place enough, The staff were all friendly and over all a really lovely environment.
R. B.
The Lighthouse has been sold, I have been coming here to eat for over 20 years. The prices on the menu have reduced substantially which made me nervous, how wrong was I. £12 for a mixed grill, they are still using the same suppliers and the meal was better than first class. I would urge anybody in the area to check this place out as the meals are awesome value.
P. B.
Excellent staff; both friendly and professional. Tasty food, which was very well presented. Nice coffee (designated driver), and outstanding chips. Would definitely recommend, and most definitely going back.
L. H.
Lovely friendly staff. Food was very nice, lots of it. Dogs were welcome inside. Attentive table service.
D. D.
Had a lovely roast dinner here on mothers day. Absolutely delicious. Have eaten here before and were not disappointed. Would recommend. Staff are very good and always check to make sure all is ok. Lovely home cooked food 😀
S. N.
Turned up for lunch without booking and were greeted by a friendly staff member at the door, first visit since it changed hands and we were very pleased, the food was lovely and the staff were welcoming and friendly, we could see that they are updating the decor in places and have created a cosy seating area with sofas which we will come back and try, had a nice coffee with our meal, we will definitely return, would recommend
P. H.
Very enjoyable. Good British Pub Food. It was very tasty and a good size portion, and my Steak and Ale pie came with extra gravy, which was a bonus. The staff were very efficient and friendly.
I Will definitely come back again.
G. W.
Excellent meals at reasonable prices.
A. D.
Visited while on a weekend away looking for a decent Meal. The best home cooked food I've tasted in about 20+years!! Wonderful friendly atmosphere and the landlord walking around checking everyone was happy. Can't recommend enough!
N. J.
Disappointed.
Waited an age at the door waiting for any member of staff to at least acknowledge we were there .
Had to go and find somebody as we had been waiting ages and a que was forming wondering if we were supposed to wait there as the sign said or not.
The food was nice but nothing to rave about.
Felt like i was an inconvenience being there .
L. W.
Stopped in with our dog on a rainy day. We were all made most welcome. The staff were incredibly friendly and we will be back.
J. L.
First time back since the new owners and it's great, food is delicious and really good portion sizes. Good choices for adults and children alike. Highly recommended
r. l.
Great selection of food
We were puzzled as we arrived at 2.25 it said on the menu service to 3pm,we queried it and we were informed that it was to allow deep cleaning, however we ordered drinks and we were there until 315 not one bit of cleaning took place.
We only wanted a soup and a sandwich
Very very poor excuse in my opinion,I thought it was just an excuse for for staff to go home early.
You would of thought they wouldn't be turning trade away in present climate.
Obviously don't need the trade
If I was a betting man this criticism won't get a reply
Thanks for your reply.
My criticism was at 2.25 soup and a sandwich is hardly a culinary challenge.
Perhaps a notice placed at the door explaining would help customers.
I stand by my criticisms, but withdraw the "" going home "" remark,if they weren't going home early then serving should be to 3pm as advertised both your website and promotional boards outside.
B. S.
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food.enjoyed Christmas menu,at very reasonable prices. Great food and plenty of it,staff very friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be returning.
E. T.
Absolutely amazing food, my crab and lobster salad was beautiful and my husband had the cod both were fresh, almost straight out of the sea and onto the plate. Attentive and friendly staff and very reasonable prices.
T. B.
How lucky we were to find this place. Such a friendly welcome and the food and service were outstanding. Good value for money and home made. Had a great time with our friends. Landlord so nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
D.
Pretty good. Food was really nice, service was quick and polite and prices were very reasonable. Worked out about £10 per person for our meals with a hot drink . Could have benefitted from a few ceiling fans as it was a bit warm in there on a sunny day.
C. S.
Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely food.
A. T.
Upped my rating to 4 stars from 2, from my visit today. A lovely, scenic, coastal pub, with a great seafood menu. Fair food for fair prices
S. S.
Very welcoming, food served all day (unlike a lot!) - we turned up at 2:45pm on a rainy day - Food was lovely - loads of veg (can recommend steak and ale pie and kids meals particularly), staff friendly, wine selection ok!?!.. thank you for having us. :-)
S. M.
Great pub . Top food
S. D.
At last fresh cooked food. Not huge portions. Had chilli. Had all the extras. Delicious. 3 sausage mash just the right amount. Dog friendly. Will definitely go again.
G. P.
Had a meal at the lighthouse Inn tonight. Not very comfortable large gathering of people at two table's very close together children wandering all over the place the adult's in and out all the time .management need to address this corona rules not being carried out.because
J.
Just had lunch, and every part was delicious. Homemade smoky mackerel pâté on toast, followed by beautiful mussels from just up the coast steamed in a marinière sauce with doorstop-like chips on the side, and finished by homemade sticky toffee pudding. My mother loved her crab and lobster salad, which was enormous. Good selection of local and continental beers on tap (I had the Leffe which was perfect with moules), and friendly service from the landlord and his charming staff.
K. D.
Visited The Lighthouse Inn twice over a weeks stay in Norfolk, April 2019. Lovely meal each visit, great portion size, a little more expensive than your normal eatery, but defo worth it in my view. Very attentive bar staff, very friendly. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again in the future when this way!
N. W.
Good wholesome food cooked and served by friendly staff, who always give you a good welcome
L. S.
Really good home-cooked food, you absolutely get what you pay for! The bar is stocked with local draught ales and friendly staff. The pub gets very busy in summer but has a marque and garden area with an ample sized car park. Well worth a visit if you are passing or fancy a decent pub lunch. Fantastic!
A. N.
Very much a family orientated pub. Dont go here for a quiet meal and be prepared to wait a long time for well cooked basic food. Apple crumble was home made but appeared to have been microwaved which was a disappointment and the ice cream had all but melted by the time it got to our table. Mains were fine - plain and simple.
K. N.
Very welcoming, but poor service. Long wait once seated to place drinks order, then even longer for service. Repeat for food order. Quality of food poor
D. F. (.
Lovely food and staff. Quite a wait as they were busy but the food came up piping hot a very well cooked.
J. G.
Ot was a great stop off for lunch and a couple of drinks. Great place, full of history. What I don't get is the town is called Happisburgh, but pronounced Haisborough!!!! Lol, well worth a visit, great food and friendly staff.
r. c.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Took my daughter and boyfriend for lunch and had a fantastic afternoon. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. Highly recommend it. I can even take the dog with me.
m. k.
booked table early but waited an hour for service for thirteen people,
two young members of staff very helpfull and hard working and appologetic,
But no reference from management about wait or whether we enjoyed our meal when paying, food good but not very customer friendly.
Management Could learn a lot from hospitality you get when abroad.
Disapointed.
M. H.
Couldn't understand why we couldn't get Cromer Crab in Walcott until we found The Lighthouse Inn !
Lovely tasty crab and lobster salad , very friendly and efficient staff with a good selection of wines.
D. L.
Very attentive staff and food was exellent
H. B.
Lovely old pub.The land lord and staff are polite and friendly and the food is very good. They are very accommodating with requests and will adjust the menu where it is feasible to do so. We will be back!😆
L. H.
Excellent food and service, very friendly and exceptionally clean, also dog friendly which is a bonus. Highly recommended
M. H.
Really good food at reasonable prices. Plenty of space for social distancing. The place has been refurbished since lockdown and looks great. Friendly staff are doing their best with all the extra sanitising reqd. We booked prior to going walking to the lighthouse.
C. W.
Pub clean staff very friendly. My food was burnt. My husband's was good. Nice place.
S. R.
Friendly staff, large place. Food was good, though I a bit pricier than other local pubs with similar menus. I had fishcake, jacket potato and salad and that was £13.95 which is a couple of quid over the usual price for that kind of thing. This place had a bit more of a passing trade/touristy kind of place rather than a local place.
S. M.
Sat in their pub garden enjoying the good weather. Food was very good, had the ploughman's. Service was equally as good. Would recommend
K. &. Y.
Wonderful place to visit. The staff there is excellent, in particular Andy who was very kind and friendly. Everything is very clean and clear covid guidance was kept. We will definitely visit again and experience the full facilities once social distancing is over.
M. W.
Very friendly atmosphere, great food and service. Dining inside and outside.
Dog friendly. Well worth a visit.
L. O.
Best meal I've had in this area, Trust me I've been visiting here for 25 years as my father live there. Food was "REAL" peeled and steamed veg not a micro-wave or tin in site! Porions were for real people to have a good meal that would last you the day, I will definitely be going back. My only small criticism which is petty was the faded plastic hanging baskets outside, Get rid or put real flowers up. 10/10. OWEN 30-04-16 2pm!
M.
Food was so good and filling. Staff were friendly and for how filling and large the meals are, the prices are fair.
R. P.
Food is excellent, very tasty, decently cooked with generous portions and a very good menu to choose from. Service is quick and cheerful, no issues at all.
I have eaten here on several occasions and have never had a bad experience! Have recommended to many people, and I stand by those recommendations.
S. Z.
Great place to eat local food. The owner and staff and excellent, so caring and polite. Highly recommended.
I. J.
Popped in for a pint. Ended up staying for a great Sunday roast dinner. Place was VERY popular for food. Suggest you book rather than be a walk in. Friendly staff.
B. F.
Don't bother with the Wherry beer, cloudy and watery, not very well kept at all.
D. M.
Great service Great food Great staff

D. A.
Great food, warm welcome, dog and family friendly. The pie and veg I had defeated me it was so copious, and that's saying something. Absolutely delicious as well.
S. L.
We visit regularly when we are staying in the area which is 4 or 5 times a year , not through a lack of choice as the is plenty of other pubs /restaurants in and around Happisburgh equally as good, but we are always made welcome by all, owners, staff and locals ? ,the lighthouse has become our local when visiting the area, we always find something tasty to eat on there ever changing menu.
We will be back again
D. W.
Good pub, good food, plenty of parking.
D. M.

A wonderful and welcoming pub. Nothing is too much trouble as far as service is concerned. The landlord is Steve and we were lucky to have found this Inn on our travels. Stop by and enjoy an appetising meal in a very friendly environment. Robbie
J. B.
Reduced menu but cooked well. Sat outside but it was very cool inside even when it was very hot and sunny. Large car park. Staff polite and friendly.

The Sage Therapies team enjoyed their Christmas party at the Lighthouse, Steve made us all feel very welcome and we had a very nice meal. The whole evening had very good service and I'd recommend the lighthouse not only for a passing visit, but also a great place to host your company parties too.
C. W.
Only stopped for a drink and a snack. The chips were great! Service was good.
L. B.

Superb food outstanding value for money. I had surf and turf - moules, half lobster and sirloin steak for £15. Epic!
L. M.
Fabulous food and incredibly friendly service. Fresh local food, really crisp salad, home cooked chips and homemade coleslaw. Great attention to detail whet eye food is concerned. Beautiful location.
R. L.
£21 for a steak ! Steak pie good, very expensive for pub grub. Had to queue at the bar for 5 mins to order and pay for food, then a long wait for it to arrive in dated surroundings, in need of a refurbishment.
T. M.

Campsite is on a dusty bit of exposed land - basically the pub carpark- its gets very windy and is next to a noisy and busy road. The food? Average.

I must say that food here several years ago was good, good portions of steak>> but after a visit recently I was very disappointed, after paying £19+ for a steak meal ,sirloin at that, it was no bigger than a quarter pound beef burger, for that price I would have expected more, it was very tough not like a sirloin at all, full of gristle and very hard to chew, come on Steve you can do better than this never had any complaints before, all other food is fine but my advise is steer clear of the steaks.
