The staff are absolutely lovely, I was served by a girl with brown and red hair, I believe her name was Katy - she made sure to ask us about any dietary requirements before taking our orders, was very friendly and bubbly and even complimented my makeup! It’s always refreshing to be served with a smile and genuine enthusiasm rather than just having your order taken. All the workers seem so happy to be there and genuinely care about your satisfaction, the food is really good and gets served quickly and efficiently. Recommended.

G. “. E. M.Visited here late afternoon as suggested by my son, who has a vegan diet. The menu is varied has lots of options for gluten free and vegan too. We had a vegan burrito bowl and the chicken red Thai curry. Very tasty food but could have been served hotter.

Absolutely smashing establishment, been here a few times and it never fails to thrill me. I am enveloped in a gown of pure comfort and camaraderie which becomes ever more so with each pint i sip. The bartender Layla is the number one hostess in Nottingham, with hair the most gorgeous shade of orange! She always makes me feel welcome and has a brilliant knowledge of the venues refreshments!
To conclude, the horn in hand is the number one site for a soiree in the city and i will most definitely be a regular!
K. D.Went in at 7pm on a Sunday. Decor nice. Spit & sawdust kind of vibe which I like. Staff not particular attentive as no one behind the bar when I arrived and had to wait for a while. Only stayed for half an hour for a drink before a gig but seems nice enough. Serve Rekordelig cider so was happy with that.
P. G.I've been in here a few times. It's a nice little spot right near the tram line. Food is well priced an always tasted good. Really chill and staff are always friendly. They arw always up for showing the sport and they have a little gaming area too which is cool because I not a fan of sports for my mate is so works well for us :) Thank you Jon!!!

A selection of craft beers and some lovely ciders as well as a huge selection of spirits and cocktails (expresso martini particularly recommended). The barman on Friday evening was lovely and the doorman a proper gent.
We went back for breakfast today and it was really good - different staff, Adam was really helpful and they were just as good as last night. We will definitely be going there next time we’re in Nottingham 😊

Tucked into a burger and beer - food came out quickly and tasted good (avoid the hot sauce on your fries - it killed me).

Had a lovely Bartender I believe her name is Mills who was super friendly and kept the drinks coming and provided an excellent service. Near my trent halls so super good location.

The same with everyone else at my table the main was good but let down on stone cold fries. The staff are friendly and hard working so the last thing they need is a "my fries are cold" kinda complaint ❤️

S. D.You can get a vegan breakfast in a pot for £2.95 (hash brown stick, beans, spinach, tomato, mushrooms). I'm not sure why they do it in a pot. It seems easier for everyone if it was just on a plate. It looked and tasted like aeroplane food, which was fun. £3.20 for a carling, so that's something.

E. C.Great pub for sports, socialising, having a beer before going to a gig with Rock City/Rescue rooms next door. Food is ok, prices are ok and you get 10% back if you have a More card. Has a pool table too.
A. K.Um, pretty good place with nice choices of drinks and some good deals from what I noticed. We went on a Friday so it was pretty busy, but I liked the atmosphere regardless. The prices are a bit higher than average that what I'm used to (£4 for a pint, £9 for a cocktail) but I think its worth a visit to see for yourselves :)
J. J.Called in with my friend after going to the cinema and had a nice burger meal that was tasty and well prepared. The place has a nice ambience and is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bar staff including manager were very friendly and efficient and it was a pleasant end to a night at the cinema. All that said however was a quiet Thursday post Christmas evening with not many customers. I dare say a Friday and Saturday evening landscape could be a more challenging prospect for the staff being a stone throw away from Rock City and the Theatre Royal.

Again that said, it follows that the commitment and maintainance of high standards and consistency starts at the top and flows downhill and should be evident in all seas both calm and tempest.
As for the tempest I am yet to judge but am confident that I would not be disappointed.
My only issue preventing five stars was as with many listed buildings is that the conveniences are situated up two flights of stairs which makes it uncomfortable for those with mobility issues. If there was a disabled rest room it must have escaped my notice. To conclude I would highly recommend a visit to this place as it ranks well among it's surounding competitors.

The food we had last Sunday was amazing, I had the top dog and it was hands down the best got dog I've had in Nottingham, all perfectly cooked and crafted.
Real good proves too the staff are real friendly and the music was cool and not invasive.
I would recommend born in hand as a real good pub for a Sunday session with friends.

S. D.One of my favourite pubs in Nottingham. Centrally located in Nottingham town centre, just down from the university. 2 minutes from a tram stop, right round the corner from rock city. Great choice of beers, ales and cider. Food menu is simple and classic - price is very good and the overall atmosphere is great! Lots of sports on and the staff are super friendly and happy to help. Also games consoles available to play. I've been coming here for years and really enjoy this place, hope you do too!

J. M.Went upstairs in the 'green room' which has the feel of an indoor pub garden, and is nice if you're booking for an event or group of people (which is why I was there). Have been a couple of times before and found it reasonably priced, and they have games! Is on the NTU City Campus so is a hotspot for students.
