Reviews of The Joseph Else - JD Wetherspoon

This was a lovely pub to drink at during the night, where me and my friend sat on comfortable chairs with slick patterns! It was something unique seeing the staircase's design and the atmosphere was superb, with the tables having cleanliness maintained. The staff were really friendly and served me my drink very quickly, which was satisfying for the time!

Good as far as wetherspoons goes... even better if you get the window seat on a Saturday night! Really friendly bouncers and an extremely friendly (and funny) waiter who's name I didn't catch
S. S.
Typical of Weatherspoon chain. A nice meal at a reasonable price. Ordered on line from the table. Very quick and efficient. A member of staff happened to be taking his meal break on a table nearby. He noticed a couple of things we needed, and he interrupted his own meal, to ensure all our needs were met. Highly impressed with this young man. Unfortunately didn't see his name. However he is a credit to his employer and the chain he represents. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed a pizza here during the Euro footie. Plenty of seats due to customers seeking venues showing the England game.
Security staff on door seemed to be professional.

Pleasant central restaurant. Lots of menu choices at reasonable prices. Our order was delivered quickly. Friendly polite staff. Very nice five beans chilli on jacket potato with free soft drink. Paid for a coffee and free refills.

Found a table right away.
Went to bar to get drinks, son in law came to help me with drink, he only came to help as the first drink was poured, and one of bouncers told him to leave the bar (he was helping me with the drinks as I suffer with arthritis, he needed to ask before demanding).
The food was excellent.
Well every thing just went down the pan.
Went to the LADY'S did not expect a MALE member of staff to walk into the LADY'S TOILETS.
THERE IS NO SIGNAGE SAYING THAT A MALE WILL CHECK THE TOILETS UNTIL YOU GET TO THE FAR END.
I am no prude, but what if a female was adjusting her bra or other female sensitive female area's that HE could have walked into.
O. T.
Went there for my usual mixed grill deal which came with a choice of non alcoholic & alcohol drink. As always, l enjoy my meal at Weatherspoons 😊😋
J. C.
It's a pub that serves drinks and food cheaply.
In a great location looking over the market square.
M. C.
It's a Wetherspoons pub, if you've been in a decent one before then you know what to expect.
Brunch was served fairly promptly & drinks were delivered to table in good time without wondering what was taking so long. Food was cooked nicely and not notably greasy which usually means the kitchen is well run & managed.
Staff polite & amenable as much as you can hope for when ordering via the app. No problems whatsoever.
Docked a star as table was a little sticky, probably needed a new cloth when wiping it down, and WiFi speeds aren't great (but most places aren't).

Cheap and cheerful as any Wet Her Spoon. Properly exploited youth gives you quick and efficient service. Give it five stars as it's never disappoint me. On the same league as MC Donald trump or courts direct. You're very welcome.
R. S.
It's a standard spoons offers good value. Staff are friendly and food was decent too. Toilets on both floors always a bonus in a spoons
C. D.
Well layed out interior, plenty of seats, clean and well presented. Bar busy with staff and served within 2 mins. Very friendly and made to feel welcome. Toilets located downstairs and was very clean with regular checks. Ordered food and despite being very busy the food arrived within 10 mins, hot and very nice. Very impressed with the whole experience
N. C.
Good lunch menu, opted for a Chicken Jalfrezi, first the positive, lovely tasty meal and good value with a beer added on. Negative, it was SERIOUSLY HOT, like eating lava! I've eaten hot curries up to Phal and Tindaloo and it was heading that way! That said, I met the challenge and finished it whilst pumping copious amounts of sweat from the forehead 😂 Not as good a range of guest ales as in other Spoons venues but we enjoyed our lunchtime.
M. F. O.
I did not like the fact that most of the tables had empty beer glasses, dirty plates etc. There wasn’t many staff clearing the tables etc. I know it was very busy and short staffed so it happens sometimes. The drinks was nice and refreshing though.
H. W.
Breakfast is nice and at a great price.
Service is ok. The lady who served me at the till put my order in wrong and I didn't realise, as I said I didn't need a receipt. When my order arrived I had to send it back as I ordered a vegetarian breakfast and that's not what they were about to serve me when the order arrived.
A. A.
A lovely pub, great service had a meal prior to a gig at the Royal Concert Hall. Every table spotlessly clean thanks to Chris, he never stopped cleaning everything in sight and was super smiley and friendly, definitely an asset to Spoons. Thank you Chris.
M. R.
The pub is fine for what it is, service using the app was good, though food order was wrong. It's a little dreary inside, so don't expect bright and airy. It is an inner city Wetherspoon after all.
D. H.
Only popped in to use the loo but the place was packed and everyone seemed to have a good time. My wife enjoyed half a cider and said it was delicious.
C. R.
Yes very nice was there for a wedding reception last week. Very popular for meals and drinks at reasonable prices.
A. H.
Right bang opposite to the city centre, good menu on food and prices are great especially if you're a student. I ended up ordering two burgers , good size on both of them, the skinless breast burger was a bit dry and it became difficult to swallow after I had chewed it, but overall it was good.
The interior are nice for a pleasant evening with friends and family and a casual drink.
The staff are very friendly.
I'd definitely go back if ever wanted to have a decent burger and chicken.
They also have an app , which you can use while being seated, via the app you can order and pay online and the food will be brought to you at your table. The day I visited , the app had some issues, but I'm sure it's fixed now.
H. w.
Very friendly doorstaff bar staff always lovley food drink so nice to have a chat to thank you very much see u soon
J. B.
Stopped for a quick bite to eat it is what it is. Food was hot and fresh and the bar staff friendly and polite.
Waiting staff not helpful at all asked for mayo to be told they don't have any for the lady on the next table to be given a full new bottle.
I would point out that the toilets in there absolutely stink and could do with a good deep clean.
r. h.
Food was really nice, arrived quickly. Inside tired but what you lind of expect. Cheap and cheerful, friendly staff and the steak was cook to perfection.
J. J. S. P.
As all Wetherspoon restaurant is a huge place, with a lot of tables, good burguers and other English dishes and beers. Always with a good price. A really good choice to save some money during the trip and enjoy the authentic English environment. For breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also you can refill coffee all day!
Y. B.
You get what you pay for. Cheap but tasty pub grub with a drink. We were going to theatre after work so needed quick and cheap. We had the pizza, chips and salad to share, a pint of lager and a double Tanqueray g&t for under £20. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Place was packed but we managed to catch someone leaving. Cannot fault it really.
K. J.
A typical pub in the chain but if cheap and cheerful fits the bill you're well away. The food was excellent.
S. H.
Cheap as chips no frills good food and excellent drinks choices for cheap. You can never go wrong with a wetherspoons but the service here is always welcoming.
J. D.
Breakfast was disappointing but you get what you pay for. Bar staff were friendly and helpful.
T. G.
Upstairs is pleasant if you can get a seat overlooking the market square. Downstairs however is like drinking in a works canteen.
S. B.
Saturday bar was empty, bouncer turning away young revelers because they were dressed up in golfing attire with visors on and told to remove them although there were a couple of lads sitting next to us with peaked caps on.I saw about 15 people turned away who were old enough while I had one beer.
S. B.
It was really busy when we arrived for lunch. The food was lovely as were the staff. Thank you 😊
J. O.
Awesome place cheap drink and good food even the staff are lovely 🙂
D. W.
Wetherspoon chain pub, with usual offering of good value food and drinks. Nice views of the Market Square from the upstairs bar.
K.
A nice place, tables were sticky and dirty but busy due to the equivalent of Ascot day in Nottingham. Great prices, can't beat it
D. W.
Standard Witherspoon's , upstairs is nice looking over the town center , service is fast
E. K.
First visit, very lively place, great friendly staff, served at tables. Food & cocktails = delish
D. B.
Chicken wrap very cold when served and chicken undercooked, also no milk in the coffee machine. Friends chicken bites also undercooked. Drinks cheap tho so will likely return.
G. F.
Good witherspoons Good service food was good as was the beer went to the upstairs area got a window seat had a great time
N. C.
Went in for a pre show drink & food. 1st time there but will definitely go again.
S. A.
It was just nice and not crowded. A good choice of food and drinks at a reasonable price.
J. B.
Took a while to get served then moved to the till to finally get served... wasn't happy about getting searched at door throughly even though not busy ect... gotta do what ya gotta doo
J. S.
A typical spoons, whats not to like?! Marked down one star for two of the gents having floaters in though! Cleaners could maybe do with popping in more often too, was a tad dirty sadly.
R. C.
Usual Wetherspoons affair, clean and tidy. Not too busy but plenty of students in on this particular evening.
j. a.
A large spoons, friendly service and not too long of a wait for the meal. Bit loud but a normal spoons.
J. C.
Great place. Cheap and good.
S. S.
Shots are good, glad to see they kept the traditional toilet location, however the Ferris wheel view has gone, not spoon's fault but they could of brought their own one
v.
Had lunch here NYE ....pub is dier need of a refurbishment ... food was okay, table hadn't been wiped from the last occupants ( covid!) Had run out of salt and most of the condiments ( sauces) will not be coming back to visit 😑
L. C.
Standard Wetherspoons pub. Cheap & cheerful food & drink. Nice & quiet while I was there.
D. H.
Visited this pub when staying in Nottingham ok for food but on the last day of our stay had a small breakfast and my partner had the mushroom benedict unfortunately both breakfasts came with out egg and the small was actually not hot at all
A. H.
Food was great served hot didn't have too wait long for it to arrive. Would recommend this pu for a family meet up for food and drinks. Tram stop just outside going either way out of the old market square.
d.
Very busy near enough all the time but food is nice and staff are friendly and helpful
M. N.
This is just like any other weatherspoons to be fair. The food was okay and drinks were free refillable. The upstairs is much nicer than downstairs. The staff were friendly and told us what we needed to know and where everything was. Not a bad place to go. Was nice and central too.
J. m.
Lovely place for a quick lunch. Had a nice meal with my dad. Staff was friendly and the view is great around the holidays 😊
M. B.
So I've been here a few times as there is plenty of room when meeting up with friends, atmosphere is good, it's not too expensive and the burgers are great! However yesterday I discovered the weatherspoon app. This revolutionised things! No waiting at the bar & no missing out on the conversation 😀 I would definitely recommend going here for the food or just as the first stop in Nottingham City Centre for you & your friends / family to congregate. If you regularly drink at other weatherspoons you defiantly need their app too. P.S. the hot chocolate brownie & ice-cream is the dessert to go for!
L. C.
Visited on a Saturday lunchtime - managed to get a table straightaway. Quick service
M. J. T.
Top value breakfast with the local regulars sipping their first pint and stag parties soaking up the night before
G. M.
App not available to order from.....toilets grim! ...table clearance slow.
Good pint as always....food good....prices good.
g. k.
Nice place right in the city center opposite the old market square and the town hall is a very big place and gets very busy but the food is very good and the service is fast staff are very helpful and polite and very good prices and very good selection of beers
C. b.
Food ok decor seen better days and tables sticky. Not the best WS visited
S. R.
Ordered using the app. Got a discount super fast and can't moan at unlimited tea for £1.25
Would definitely visit again.
100% recommend the app
J. W.
Friendly staff, quick service and plenty of seating
j. e.
Visited this establiment on a coach tour a week before Christmas obviously a poplar city centre weatherspoon venue , packed out was an understatement but staff still managed to serve meals and drinks to a large patronage, well worth a visit,
S. H.
Beer kept good. Like chicken in basket!
S. L.
Always a good cheap central place to get a fast meal before going shopping or in theater
B. S.
Very busy town centre pub but staff work very quickly. Worth trying 👍
J. O.
It was alright food was ok and the staff were friendly and polite.
N. P.
Usual Spoons fare, good cheap breakfast delivered to my table quickly.
Toilets are not too bad for a witherspoons only two flights of stairs down at the rear of the pub. Disabled loos on ground floor.
J. W.
It's weatherspoons.
You know what you get, great view over the square.
Cheap booze and food 😜
S. L.
2 pints, gammon and egg, chips, garnish. £3.50 change from a twenty. Magic !!!
W. G.
Come here every now and again and servers are accommodating and service is quick and effective the only complaint is I would like the tables to be cleaned abit more frequently
C. M.
Great pub for a quick bite during the day with a great menu and fab prices. Would defo go again as food is served very quick and great quality. Also staff are very friendly
P. H.
Great spoons ! food came so quick and was very tasty ! The atmosphere is definitely for an older crowd so I don't go there often but it's still nice. They didn't have any mayonnaise though which was a bit annoying. Lovely staff tho!
J. C.
Food Service quick and hot. Waiters very attentive. Ordered from App 10mins wait. Food exceptional, delicious. Atmosphere relaxing, warm and welcoming.
M.
Great value, excellent bat staff, and a really good atmosphere.
A. S.
We had a great time meeting up with old friends. The best fish & chips I've had in ages. Great drinks at the right price
S. S.
What can I say, cheap and cheerful :) never had a bad meal from here or any of the spoons
C. B.
took ages to get served only 2 staff behind bar
C. B.
Your every day spoons. Long wait when ordering for or drinks. There's is security on the doors which doesn't stop some wackos from bothering you. Toilets on the ground floor where clean and undergoing refurbishment.
P. B.
The inside is looking tired, however the bar staff were quick and friendly
J. E.
Lovely dinner but no vinegar or mayo, said they keep ordering but never get it sent,
When you have chips as we did you definitely need vinegar
On the upside they now do a drink with every meal which is great as the alcoholic drink is a pint and their onion rings are to die for, they are the best I've ever tasted
s. e.
Standard wetherspoons really ..decent service but stickier than average :D
M. M.
Not a bad place. The American breakfast is really good.
B. S.
Great food and service. It was very busy though.
H. H.
Good place for food. Good customer service
l. k.
Decent selection. Great prices on drinks. Food that I have had here was good. Toilets clean and hygeneic. Unfortunately spoons changed their brewery so no long serve my drink
C.
I was quickly served, the staff were friendly and efficient too
H. S.
Friendly door staff, plenty of seating, fast service
M. R.
Spoons is spoons , cheap booze , nice chicken bite basket x
M. O.
GREAT place, GREAT atmosphere friendly staff definitely be back.
S. A. s.
What can i say its a spoons what you see is what you get
Staff upstairs are great i say that as i only go up there
Food ok, love the tea and coffee refils only 1.98 for 2 teas then unlimited 😋
R. S.
Smaller that expected slow service. Carpet looked very dirty and un cleaned. Too many customers smoking just outside the entrance so you have to walk through a cloud of horrible cigarette smoke. WONT BE GOING AGAIN
d. b.
Only had drinks but was unusually quiet today
A. C.
Nice central pub, good choice of cheap real ales.
Z. C.
Went for the Gin fest. Loved trying all the different flavours. Had burgers to eat and cookie dough for pudding. The food was really nice
A. J.
Great place, been going for years. Ordered via app, drinks straight to table.
L. G.
been here today great staff .my friend and myself had the brunch and searved by a lovely helpfull waiter called chris ,the food was lovely and hot we will be back again soon .
D. T.
Was a busy night , but didn't seem like bar staff kept to their serving areas was haphazard with long waiting time
M. B.
Typical wetherspoons serving all your usual good food at cheap prices. - Open early, right in the centre of Market Sq
A. R.
It was OK, not clean to my standards, prices good. There allergy menu and app are good, so could find something to eat, a bonus for a Coeliac.
K. B.
Drinks are decent but the place is over crowded as fu*k.
S. W.
Extremely busy, but cheap drinks. Friendly staff.
D. P.
It's a spoons full of cheap drinks in a city centre market place no atmosphere but it will do
Not had food so cant comment
D. W.
Your standard Wetherspoons - but too noisy and rowdy for 4.30 on a Tuesday afternoon.
b. s.
We popped in for pint and a natter. Always busy. Sat upstairs and looked out the window.
C. M.
Great beer's and good food
M. B.
Entertaining people watching place "there's some characters"
N. C. (.
Shoutouts to Alex the bouncer. Said my fiancé was too drunk to go in, and I for one agreed with him. One love 💕
D. G.
Excellent value for price. Great place to visit with friends for a pint or two, or ten. Design is not the best, interior is old fashioned but it us clean. Staff is also cery polite and helpful.
k. c.
Not the best. No Scrabble eggs yet still had eggs on breakfast menu.
K. P.
Really nice food well made and well served
Was dubious at first as we had been to the wetherspoons at Ripley the week before and asked for my money back as the breakfast was cold ,very late ,and no toast due to bread not being expected until later in day 😱
But this place was exceptional ...top marks
A. H.
Nice pub with friendly staff. We managed to get a seat so we could chat away. The pub served food and the prices were very reasonable. From the dishes going out the portion sizes where good. We didn’t eat hence I didn’t give the bar a 5 star. Pub was nice and clean and so were the toilets.
A.
City centre spoons. Not bad, but lacking the character of others
R. J. Y.
Brilliant service nice food nice beer before forest home matchs
M. W.
Staff working really hard, but tables not cleared and there was definately no cleaning taking place , food came out quickly, but we were eating in a dirty environment!
M. S.
Very big pub, always full, lots of stuff.. Food is good, fresh, not expensive, l really enjoy in the food, atmosphere,
M. S.
Due to the location of this Spoons it attracts a varied clientele. Sometimes its good, sometimes not so good. The place is looking a bit run down these days.
L. V.
Do not like eating in the dark so just put some lights on
A. C.
I had so much fun in this place, beautiful!
B. K.
Great food along with very helpful staff. The new Brie Festive burger is/was awesome.
B. C.
The service was quick and the food was good. However, the cleanliness was not good. The tables were not being wiped between diners, just plates and glasses cleared.
T. f. S.
Can't fault them to much . They are definitely kid and disabled friendly which is a plus not great food but it's typically what you'd expect for what you pay .
T. B.
Friendly atmosphere delicious foods cheap prices
S. R.
City centre pub, fairly busy. OK but nothing special?
M. D.
Not bad, but the Madras was weak.
D. D.
Just central to Notts centre and the best meeting point in town that all locals know. The main Spoons I would say. Great staff aswell!
D. H.
It's only a Wetherspoon's but is clean and efficient. I'd defo use if again but Nottingham has so many pubs, bars and restaurants to choose from. Here's to trying them all...
c. c.
It's wetherspoons...cheap beer, good service and a good atmosphere. What else do you need?
B. P.
The family and I had our evening meal and breakfast here as it was cheaper than our hotel.
Good choice. The meal last night was tasty and served very quickly. The staff are great too. Efficient and friendly service.
Breakfast was great value. And again quick.
We're leaving happy and stuffed.
Highly recommend.
E.
Nice food, cheap and the bouncers was really nice and cleared our table so we could get a seat without waiting
R. K.
Typical Spoons pub, it does exactly what it says on the tin LOL
I. M.
Everything that you can expect from a wetherspoon. I loved it
J. R.
Staff were helpful and I enjoyed the food and drinks which they offered. A great place to meet up with friends to have a nice time.
S. L. E. C. (.
Very Nice Place to eat in Nottingham City Centre. Big portions, Excellent Value, Very Friendly Staff!!!
C. J.
Still no improvement on last time we visited in the spring. To be fair it was a very busy Sunday tea time. Once again far short of the staff there should have been. Dirty glasses everywhere. Tables not cleared for ages. Hardly any condiments both upstairs and downstairs as they had run out of most things. The meals came out quickly and were tasty. Toilets an absolute disgrace. No loo roll, doors didn't lock, washing area was swimming with wet paper and hand dryers didn't work. This is completely unfair of wetherspoons to allow this to be so under staffed. One good point, there is a nice view of the market square from upstairs when it's lit up at night.
S. H.
Nice atmosphere. Good place for meals. Food there tastes really nice as does the range of coffees & other hot drinks there. Wetherspoons app works really good. Booked a table & ordered the meals using their app which i would recommend as it does get busy there
P. R.
I am a big fan of Spoons. In my experience, their outlets are good value, welcoming and cheerful, well run, and staffed by efficient, personable and helpful young staff. The John Else is no exception. I am quite elderly and always by myself. I would like to single out the door staff for particular praise. All are good but the young man with the beard has been exceptionally helpful to me. I am staying in Nottingham for a couple of weeks, frequently drink and eat at the John Else, and have always had a great experience.
K. H.
Great pub good food fair prices
C. 6.
Quality spoons, ignore what Nicky Bradleyis saying he is chatting wack. Steve is a legend.
S. T.
Food was good and staff were friendly. Although very busy down stairs upstairs was more relaxed and felt u could still bring kids for food should u wish this was around 5pm on a saturday. Menu prices are very reasonable with food being tasty and all came out very quick. Would gladly go back here again.
M. C.
This branch of Wetherspoons is massive inside. It is usually very busy at lunch times. The menu is good and the value is excellent with a fast service.
The serving staff were polite and the quality of the food exceeded the price that I paid for it.
It is a restaurant that is very popular with the working crowd and for good reason!
I would definitely recommend eating here!
b. b.
Great day catch up with old friends on St Patrick's day
R. B.
Was OK but sadly a little worn down also when ordering food the menus were sticky with old food. When food was ordered we waited along while to be told a key element of the meal was missing..... But alternative substitute was offered it was cancel and reorder havijg already waited a while or take it as it was. Food was perfectly fine when arrived and I would argue good value just disapointed in the service and general upkeep of the establishment.
J. T.
We had a lovely time there, so chilled out, staff were lovely
A. M. K.
Such a quick service. We use the app. The staff were really attentive. And so polite, they apologised for being so long but they didn't take long at all. So much better than galashiels. Love this place xxxxxxx
J. F.
A great pub in Old Market Square, Nottingham.
A great place for friends to meet up before going out for night.
The toilets are spotless once you get to them.
Great bar prices with deals on shorts from a single to double.....yes please.
Everyone friendly and great atmosphere.
I've not eaten here however I expect it's as good as its other eateries.
M. B.
Went for breakfast. Good value, excellent coffee. Food needs to be warmer.
m. n.
Lovely large breakfast a great start to the Christmas shopping trip !
E. P.
Would have given this a one star rating if the waitress hadn't been so good. Only ordered 1 bacon and 1 sausage cob. It came stone cold. Sent it back and the sausage was just hot enough to eat. The bacon however still had a raw bit on the edge. Sent back again 3rd time lucky. It came with a full refund and a fantastic response from the waitress. Wish I knew her name but well done you!!
D. H.
It's a 'spoons so you know what to expect, central to Nottingham, clean, good service and lively. Great place to spend a Saturday afternoon!
T. R.
Feels very 70s with no drama attached. Also note, the lampshades do not contain flies (to my mates surprise).
J. A.
Usual Wetherspoons, very busy on a Saturday afternoon when we visited but love the guest ales
M. W.
OK, but no access to upstairs making it very full
C. L.
It was very busy and impossible to find a free table that was clean. I used the Wetherspoons app for the first time just because the menus were so sticky. I was looking for a quick and easy breakfast so opted for the all day breakfast, the coffee was good but the “bacon” was grey...
a.
Used the Wetherspoons app to order. Drinks came really quickly and was nice to have table service instead of queuing at the bar. Had fish and chips. The fish was fab. It was huge and very tasty. Cooked perfectly. Nice friendly atmosphere inside. Excellent experience at a great price.
W. R.
It had a dark entrance, but once inside it was OK. Bar staff were jovial. My meal was served quickly and it was hot and fresh, along with a nice local beer. Overall busy but okay.
A. F.
Visited late afternoon on a Thursday for a quick drink with my elderly mum before getting the tram home. Bar staff were nice enough but the place was a little untidy with a few uncleared tables. However on the raised area there were a few crowds of loud youths and women that made my mum a little worried which put me on edge... however not once did any of the door staff do a walk through or come inside to give a little reassurance to the customers who were seated near them.. just incase! When we left the door staff were just laughing and joking with each other outside the entrance and just doing there normal door stuff! Maybe they should think abit more about actually patrolling inside now and again which might make people respect the establishment abit more!
C. P.
It's a Wetherspoons, it has cheap beer and decent food. What more do you want? The toilets to be on the same level, yeah I know... 😂
S. T.
The meals my wife and I had were good and hot. Although busy we only waited about 20mins. We did have to ask for our table to be cleaned. Not really a problem. The taps in the male toilets was like a fire hydrant, even at arms leanth it was difficult not to get wet. May be that could be sorted. Over all enjoyed our visit
T. E. E.
Friendly staff but all in all it's a Weatherspoons so generic pub , once inside you could be anywhere in the UK
g. s.
Quick stop for breakfast while shopping and renewing phone contract.
£9.25 for two drinks, a bacon sandwich, and a kids pancakes with strawberries.
Excellent value in nicer surroundings than a more expensive "greasy spoon" cafe. Beats McWhatever too.
I'd happily return.
J. N.
Very friendly staff and so clean
M. C.
Lovely Christmas fair. Great day out.
L. H.
Food was kinda ok it was served quite quickly but place was untidy dirty tables and staff need to be more happy
g. f.
Tuesday night steak night.used the table app service to order mixed grill with a john smiths.pint first as expected in a few minutes followed by the food just after. Excellent presentation and exceptional quality and quantity.well recommended. Surroundings clean and staff helpful and friendly.
B. S.
Can't fault it. It's nicer upstairs than downstairs, try and get a window seat.
I could say that you get what you pay for but this is the exception, the food is really good and very competitively priced.
Here's a 'BobTip' go on a Tuesday (steak day) order two steaks and a bottle of house red, you won't believe the total, I've had better steaks but not for this price!
Oh and don't forget the table service with the App, download it, order the food and drinks, pay by PayPal (or use one of the other payment types) your food will be delivered to your table without having to speak to anyone. Boom!
B. S.
Nice breakfast good service
J. S.
Nopped in for a quick one very pleasant 30 mins
E. F.
Standard Weatherspoons. Very good prices for a city centre. A bit grubby and most tables needed a good clean.
T. D.
Ok place, I wouldn't recommend bringing kids there as far too many regulars who make it unwelcoming. Staff and the place itself is good
D. H.
While in the middle of town shopping, this is a fantastic place to have a meal and a drink at reasonable prices with all the family, both adults and kids together. I found the staff to be really friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. Outside it was really busy, so I was amazed when I found a table for four quite easily. Well done guys keep up the good service
L. O.
Known and trusted all weatherspoons pubs . Excellent value for money .had breakfast here .very efficient service
P. H.
Typical spoons, but not the best one I've been to.
D. L.
A rather average place. You get homeless people coming in and begging at your table. Beers prity mediocre. If they have what you want. Service wasn't bad but I wouldn't rush back.
J. D.
A pub that serves food in a town centre. Does everything that a pub serving food should do. No complaints, all good. Interesting toilets. Good views upstairs. Four stars because it does what is expected, wow me with something wow-able for that extra star.
H. E.
Usual spoons, great coffee, great value.
A. W.
Busy place, mixture of clients meeting up to socialise, eating, drinking & generally having a nice time
P. H.
Lovely pub friendly clean
L. H. S.
Typical weatherspoons. Drinks cheep as chips. The food was good but not great. Staff service was ok. They seemed really busy so appeared not to always take notice of people who'd been waiting a while. But that comes down to not having enough staff on duty. And I know how hard it is when busy and rushed off your feet it is to be nice but surely a smile would be nice.
S. W.
Food seating area needed cleaning as food and straw wrappers plus serviettes on floor! Had rump steak - classic burger j2o pink gin drink and small wine for £20 which was reasonable. Steak was nice but chips n peas were small in portion considering the price paid. All in all ok - wouldn't rush to come back!!
Ps bar staff were lovely
D. T.
Great place expect what you pay for and don't have high expectations 👌
T. B.
Took 25 mins to get 3 pints ordrom the app. Was Saturday afternoon though.
A. G.
Good decent service and food.
R. M.
Nice place, good prices
C.
One of the best places to go for if you want a vegetarian breakfast. They serve a usual fry up but with Quorn sausage which I've never found anywhere else. It's cheap, it's cheerful and it just works 👍
A. D.
Friendly staff good food service and pleasant atmosphere inside.
C. L.
Typical Wetherspoons - decent breakfast with unlimited refills on tea and coffee all for around a tenner for the two of us! Lots of people supping lager at 9am. - my one gripe is the tiny portion of beans!! This seems to be standard in all Wetherspoons I've been to so the breakfast can seem a bit dry. Overall no complaints - you get what you pay for and the ideal place to fuel up before being dragged around every shop in town 🙄
M. F. (.
Nice pub but often very busy. Great space over the 2 floors gives plenty of space. Drinks are priced pretty well and the food is decent for the price. If ur after a decent night or a bite to eat of the cheap then you cannot really go wrong. Definatly be returning at somepoint.
H. K.
Very central to all shops so handy to pop in and right near tram stop.
B. T.
Good prices, a great introduction to someone who has never been to Nottingham. A clean & welcoming Wetherspoons!
S. S.
Service ok, but dirty tables, had to ask for table to be cleaned. Food ok apart from over cooked eggs.
J. H.
love what the 99p pints did to the place. real excitement over green king pale ales these days
D. L.
The place is always busy and staff run off their feet but they try to keep fast service and tables clean. Never had a bad bacon sandwich here and now using brown bread instead of roll, much tastier.
P. W.
Always a good atmosphere with friendly staff
W. G.
It's a spoons what more can you say. Cheap and cheerful good place to start the night and meet up before going somewhere.
P. K.
What you expect from Whetherspoons, found a table, ordered via the app and the drinks were delivered quickly. I have given 5 stars, as visited another venue afterwards and waited 25 minutes for drinks after ordering from a waitress. So service here was so much better!
L. L.
This is a place I normal would not go. However it is Weather's poona and serve food. They have a extensive range menu. Different days of the week have different promotions ie to tue is steak night etc
The food. Service and presentation is very good.
Can be noisy and busy popular pub for people meeting up for drinks. Next to the tram stop and very central location for people to get to. It's in the heart of the city
A. S.
Food typical wetherspoons, which is fine. Service good and staff helpful. Place is always very busy so decor especially flooring is tired, and we found the place was quite cold.
y. w.
Went on with grandchildren the lady who served us went above so Very pleased. Made the experience good. Thank you
k. r.
Good place to find food and beverage with quality at affordable prices. To save time you can order through their mobile Application sitting at the table. You can find daily specials like Fish and chips on Friday, Indian curries on Thursdays e.t.c
M. C.
Fairly quiet, reasonable beer, it's a Wetherspoon's, what else do you need to know...
X.
As with all Wetherspoons pubs they can be a bit hit and miss. I would say this is one of of the more average ones. Can get very busy. Sometimes not the ideal place to go with children as you'll find some of the clientel using colourful language. The selection and pricing of beers is as usual very good.
G. C.
Great prices to say it's in the town centre
S. B.
Amazing pub good service defernatly recommend and I went on a busy friday night service was quick and polite ;)
R. K.
Beers and ales and wine are good and cheap compare to many places. A wide range of food. tea and coffee available all the time. service very. good. security persons always show their presence.
R. T.
Can get very busy downstairs. Families are better off upstairs. Good food. Helpfully staff. Have been here quite a few times over the years.
P. W.
Good wetherspoons worth a visit
S. L.
Wetherspoons have three venues around Nottingham but out of the three, this one is the nicest.
Staff are helpful and are able to fulfill orders to expectations with friendly gestures to make you feel welcomed.
It also hosts disability access through the back and a disabled toilet to meet basic toileting needs. Those who need changing places toilets won't benefit from this toilet.
You will expect to get the same standard with food and drink too as spoons provide a good selection of drinks.
C. L.
Always packed in here. Cheap and cheerful is how I would describe it. Not your classy type place but if you want an inexpensive night, this is perfect. Plenty of room.
M. M.
Good location, cheap and cheerful. Could do with a update
J. P.
Generally miserable staff. Many jobsworths working in there too, who don't seem to like you standing either near the bar or within a 10 meter radius of a fire exit. But, like most Wetherspoons pubs, it's also cheap and cheerful. Decent range of beers and spirits too.
c. b.
Very busy, hardly any tables, big groups, messy toilets.
Cheap, you're average spoons
P. T.
It's okay been in a lot worse, wasn't busy inside on a Sunday afternoon. Tables and floor were clean. Service was fast enough. Dropped a star off for the unpleasant kerfuffle outside the entrance.
j. l.
Great table service. Cheap drinks. Friendly staff. Could ask for more.
D. w.
Great location right on the square, massive pin so plenty of seating and generally enough bar staff to get served in good time. And as with all weather spoon pubs beer is good value. Not the most exciting pub, no music equals no atmosphere but still good for a swfty
I. D.
Went in twice for breakfast on a short break in Nottingham. It was quiet as it was during the week. Typical Wetherspoons, used the app and service was quick and food of normal decent standard
K. M.
Only popped in as we we're at the Christmas Market & needed the loo. Obviously bought a drink (Only fair when using the facilities), drinks were cheap (like all Wetherspoons pubs) but an explanation of why I was given an empty coffee cup, having paid for a coffee, would have been useful.
C. E.
Went for an early doors meal last Friday, I forgot to order a sweet chill sauce to accompany my husband’s chicken strips and when Alex delivered the meal he went specially to get him some despite the fact they were busy. Excellent service, thank you
J. H.
This is your typical Wetherspoons pub so you know what your in for in terms of the decor and prices of food and drink. Download the Wetherspoons app though and you can order directly from your table and your food and drink order is given priority over people physically queueing at the bar! Drinks arrive almost instantly!
A. W.
Typical Wetherspoons with one exception. The service was excellent! Fast! and friendly.
I was pleasantly shocked!
C. H.
Always a good place to go although I was very poorly after eating some of the chicken wings. Will still be going back
A. T.
Busy but nice food
A. G.
Decent food at decent prices but nowhere near as nice inside as other Wetherspoons in the area such as the Gooseberry Bush (their service is also better) and not much atmosphere. A bit like a canteen. But if you're not picky you can't go wrong with this place
X.
It's a cheap and cheerful Spoons on the Market Place.
J. R.
Ease of entrance reasonable price food
B. H.
Classic eatery with a pint, friendly staff and a clean table, simple for a good night.
b. p.
The food was ok, but the staff wont let us order the desserts because he said that kids weren't allowed after 9 pm in this pub. The another thing was that though the pub has upper seatings and the food menu was also situated on the table's upstairs, its not for the customers to eat there, because they said that upstairs are only for the customers who drink. The thing is they shouldn't put the food menus upstairs if they dont serve food upstairs.
J. Y.
Great pub in the market square! Always a good breakfast!
L. J.
Although being a busy christmas Saturday, the staff were quick to serve and polite and chatty. Stayed here for several hours and throughout that time we had no complaints or issues. Overall good service.
A. E.
Back again today. Great reasonably priced food N drink and a handy place to meet. Wetherspoons app very good and quicker than queuing at the bar when it's busy...... And it usually is 😁😁
E. R.
Normal Spoons, upstairs bar is nicer, JD is being iffy about masks and T&T still. ROLL ON MONDAY THE 19/7!
R. S.
It's alright for a quick pint
A. C.
A different vibe from the usual Wetherspoons pub
T. H.
Pizzas weren't cooked-very doughy, rest of food was OK and drinks were standard for a spoons.
l. S.
Lovely staff and good food at reasonable price. Thanks all.
U. B.
Friendly, not too busy and well priced
B. J.
Great place to sit and eat if you enjoy reasonably priced meals, alcohol is quite cheap too so it's great to make it an all day thing while you wait for a train home
S. H.
As always a good drink but no vinegar to go with the fish & chips, the staff blame supply issues.
A. R.
Typical Spoons. Stopped on the way home from Crich. Nice food, delivered quickly and tasted lovely. Was driving so didn't try any of the ales but sure to try one next time I'm in the area
J. C.
Does the job. City centre Wetherspoons. Cheap food and beer. Big and busy. Centre if Nottingham. Kids, familes, singles, couples..all welcome and looked after. Nothing fancy at all but recommended as it is what it is and is very good at it.
L. A.
There are better Spoons out there, but it's good for a city centre pub and the crowd it attracts!
B.
First time at this pub in Nottingham as visiting, very very busy and bar staff lovely. As don't drink asked for something different apart from coke n lemonade thankyou had a lovely time.
K. W.
Nicely located in the middle of town, lovely atmosphere, plenty of room, nice menu with drinks included with certain dishes, very friendly staff and a terrific range of drinks all at attractive prices, brilliant place to while away an hour or two while pondering which bus or tram you want to catch, recommend this place to all.
M.
My go to place for a casual hang out, friendly staff reasonable prices, wide range of drinks and food. Usually this place gets too crowdy at weekends due to location in the heart of the city. Overall, this place is a perfect casual pub to hang out with friends.
m. t.
Always great service here good food great prices 👍
C. M.
Good food and drink . Nice friendly staff
J. G.
Lovely food, food came super fast. Great price
A. K.
Ok food u get what you pay for. Good prompt service. Bit of a drag theres no music perfect meeting point to have a cosy chat before hitting the music bars.
S. H.
Been here a few times before but this was the first time we had food. Fish and chips was fantastic, hubby had wing and rib combo that was good too. Overall a good experience.
S. B.
Always polite and friendly staff and food always really nice
A. M.
Excellent service and friendly atmosphere
A. T.
It's a Weatherspoons. Great value and good portions of food, nice beer but looking slightly tired and very noisy. Good COVID controls.
G. S.
Good old wetherspoon one of the cheapest places to grab a pint in not a bad place to start your night out in Nottingham.
G. M.
Busy in centre. Staff great
a. s.
Once told by manager that it was a "no noise" place. TV on, no sound etc. But quiz night with bloke on microphone (loud), TV with sound when sport on. Can't watch a video of small children with sound on phone though !!!!
a. p.
I love Wetherspoons pubs, they are good value, well patronized and I have visited many on my travels. This one is especially good as it is right in the Centre of the shopping area right next to the trams stops.
S. D.
Food slow to come out. Bread was not fresh on bacon sarnie . No straws and bar tender not very friendly . Big breakfast was good tho !
L. F.
Nice place in centre of Nottingham. Called here for brunch, was in Nottingham for a wedding, place was quite busy, service good and food didnt take too long to arrive, satisfactory visit, another Wetherspoons added to our list.
M. R.
Not the best spoons the seating is a little awkward not a fan of the high chairs and it’s always busy
K. D.
Was nice and clean, staff was quick and helpful, it's just not enough seating area for food and struggle to find a table from all of the drinkers
P. R.
C-19 measures well done and adhered to by the staff at least. Table service via the app and reasonable but cheap food.
C. C.
In terms of service its fine just like any other wetherspoon but the interior is outdated and unpleasant in comparison to Lloyd's up the road for example butnits alright.
A. P.
Good central location and as with all Wetherspoon pubs, cheap prices, for beer and food. With the central location comes heavy use so functional decor is key but getting tired. Staff seem hardworking and doorstaff vigilant
L. M.
Great chain, go in and get served quickly and don't have to wait long for food! Sometimes hard to find a table but understandable with the reasonable prices on food&drink.
C. B.
Standard centre of town, spoons. Exactly what youd expect.
M. H.
Loved it good communication.well presented food. Very enjoyable meal.looking forward to going again
M. S.
it's an alright spoons, got a bar upstairs which saves walking but they don't have all the beers on tap upstairs, not as good atmosphere as roebuck
T. C.
You know what you're getting with a 'Spoons. This one is pleasant enough. A good view over Slab Square from upstairs. Service was good and the food was exactly what you'd expect.
J. C.
Lovely food(breakfast).....kept regularly clean so vacated tables are available for next customers...a busy Sunday morning
M. T.
It's a Wetherspoons enough said, a mix if people students, young locals old locals. The food was standard Wetherspoons the prices are good and the staff polite. What more can you want
S. M.
Good selection of beers and cocktails
N. J. F.
Always great place to go
L. H.
Some times out of stock on curtain beers but we are post covid
B. E.
Chez (bartender) was funny and helpful, knew boundaries to have a laugh and joke but was also quick and precise with order and delivery. Food was hot when served and came within minutes
J. K.
Great food and service at good value prices.
S. y.
Nice place. Toilets are meant to be checked but didn't look like they only get cleaned in the morning by the cleaning crew.
Service was fast.
t. o. b.
We had four delicious curries for less than £30. The staff were efficient and friendly, can't fault the place.
A. R.
The used to be Halfords, remember collecting my first bike from here . Great location in the market square, and the tram drops you right outside. Good food and inexpensive drinks being a Wetherspoons.
M. W.
An A typical JD Wetherspoon's. Friendly atmosphere, good beer and decent food. You just can't go wrong in this pub chain
n. b.
Decent bar food and drink at a good price. Quick Service. Can be quite busy and sometimes difficult to get a table.
C. W.
Lovely and friendly staff if I'm in the area will come back
M. S.
Really great pub, lots of safety measures in place, food and drinks were great and arrived quickly too. Thanks!
P. W.
Very busy pub more relaxing upstairs cheep drinks
S. H.
Cracking pub in a great spot. Never gets too rowdy. Fantastic selection of drinks, good food (when served, check times beforehand,) friendly staff. Highly recommended!
T. O. d. R. B. n. a. o.
Great food, great service and kind staff. The place has characteristics and is warm and welcoming. Hope to see you soon again.
A. H.
Very nice this pub
C. P.
Normal chain owned pub. Cheap food with a pint. A bit ruff and ready with door staff, but OK for a night out In a group. Not the place for singles, or a romantic night.
T. T.
Nice contemporary style bar, loud, with good atmosphere.
J. K.
Nice food and drink
k. h.
Cheap and cheerful, breakfast service could of been abit faster, also had to keep walking downstairs to re fill our tea and coffee which is a little inconvenient when sitting upstairs
S. P.
Love this place, upstairs! Reasonable food. The app is great, the food always comes out really quick!!😁
R. M.
Good food but can get cluttered with alot of dirty dishes etc. Difficult to find food menus also. Great prices tho.
D. m.
Great food Great staff cheap food and drink
R. D.
You get what you pay for. Nice, simple, straightforward food and drink.
D. H.
Good atmosphere , helpful staff , excellent foods I definitely recommend the spicy king prawns and grilled halloumi and if you order nachos the salsa guacamole and sour cream are served on the side of you ask them to.
D. T.
Decent meal at reasonable price
A. M.
lovely pint of Ruddles bitter for 99p, can't be bad
C. W.
Good beer and Ideal meeting place. Typical average food for a multi-chain venue. Special offers on beer during daytime.
A. O.
Great food, nice pub, excellent service
R. K.
Nice steak shame about the noisy "Bratz (students or similar age) that spoilt it as I know it's near to Christmas but no need for males to be shouting whilst stood next to each other as well as noisy female they had with them !!!!! ......"
S. R.
Its a whetherspoons...if you need a review then...its well priced food and drink. Always served promptly. Nothing amazing. Does what it says on the tin!!!
J. H.
It is what it is it's where they sell beer coffee and food and very cheap
B. L.
It's a wetherspoon they are reasonably priced and breakfast was value for money.
A. M.
it's a spoons I guess but it gets rammed and orders go slow and it can be a bit irritating
S. S.
Can't beat a good Wetherspoons! Because this one is in the market square it gets really busy. (There's another one close by tho) but it has a good atmosphere and nice staff
