Reviews of The Roebuck Inn
P. L.
Nice on a Sunday morning for a Wetherspoon’s breakfast. Served on a warm plate. Nice and quiet at 8:30. People started to drift in after us. Staff friendly. Breakfast came quickly. Lots of choice of seating areas. And of course a picture of their personalised carpet.
K.
It's big pub, with lots of space for dining. Was very busy when I went on Monday lunch time about 1.30 pm. A lot of people taking up the offer on the food deals.
Had a long wait at the bar, due to most people ordering food, staff were all very friendly and polite. I would of like to of seen more staff taking orders, to keep the que down. The pub is nice but could do with a update on the decor to refresh the interior of the pub. But the wait for the food was worth it, good portions and very tasty.
Would visit again, but go earlier.
p. b.
Quite possibly the best Wetherspoon's out of the city centre's four. Small rooftop terrace to enjoy the fresh air. Plenty of space on the ground floor with separate areas for private parties or groups.
I had a Doom Bar for £1.99 which was okay considering probably first pulled of the day.
If I return to this city I'd choose this one over the other three spoons
S. H.
Typical Wetherspoons, good prices, good service and good table service on the App. If the weathers good, the open top floor is excellent, as you're close to the toilets, helps you avoid getting a Sherpa in to help you climb the standard Spoons stairs👍

My usual place for quick bite to eat and a drink, but on this occasion I had the 8oz steak with jacket potato, well it came and the 2 items where placed in the middle of the plate completely looking lost, now really how hard would it be to have peas on it as standard to at least look presentable as a meal.
The potato was hard and the steak looked shabby but did however taste OK so I can't complain about the taste.
I won't order it again but I will say as a whole it's still a great pub and the food in general is great usually.

Needed a good meal following a drive from Lowestoft to Travelodge at Kegworth service area. This was nearby and fitted the bill. Food was of high standard and service was pretty quick considering all was cooked fresh.
J. S.
I was a visitor from Portsmouth and happened to be in Nottingham. Decided to go to this Wetherspoons as the other one round the corner looked really busy. And goodness me it was a great Wetherspoons in the city centre. The lady who served me tonight was very friendly. Also the food was delicious I had lasagna with chips and it was hot. Cheers for my making my time in Nottingham enjoyable 😀
J. S.
Great pint with fast service! Upstairs's smoking area is very nice especially in the Summer. It's a wetherspoons so don't expect much when it comes to food. However, i have found this one better than most others in the chain. Toilets are located up some very high stairs, so not recommended for persons with walking difficulties, yet there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Pretty good pub, so worth a look albeit just for a drink.
M. L.
Great implementation of table service. Superb staff and the beer is really nice (for a spoons 🤣). Food is great for what you pay. This is the better spoons of the two in town.
J. A.
Ordered my lunch (small cod and chips) and drinks (included) at this busy city center Pub, using the Weatherspoons app. Very easy. Food delivered in good time and was hot and very tasty. Although smaller portion, still a good size and very tasty.
P.s. still 99p a pint at the moment.
S. A.
It's conveniently located just off Market Square in the city centre, you can walk in and find a table and make an order via the app, without queueing. The food was quite nice and decent portion sizes, but not a 100% hot. Prices are reasonable. There's a open-top smoking area upstairs.
M. A.
A wetherspoons with great ale prices, busy and loud at night but a good atmosphere
C. B.
Nice at lunchtime with a decent Spoons menu.. Abbot's at just over 2 quid a pint should give it 5 stars.
Not sure about evenings.. Worth popping in..
P. D.
Nice Wetherspoons pub. Used app and table service was quick and efficient, whilst no reflection on the pub some teens were sick in the stair well. But spoons is always a favourite of the students especially in a Uni town
D. S.
Good atmosphere and always very busy, food was okay, but I am sure the portion sizes are smaller than they used to be, so next time will eat somewhere else and then head here later
B. S.
The best wester spoons in Nottingham City centre. Never silly busy and mostly get a table, food is good. Drinks are spot on and exactly what you would expect from a weatherspoons pub in Nottingham.
Been many times and will definitely go again very soon for a drink in Nottingham
J. M. C.
I've been to this spoons a few times and it's got a great vibe, only downside was 21 chips which is lower than my local! They do have good cider though!
j. h.
Standard Whetherspoons however the upstairs smoking area/outside seating is nice as it feels fairly indoors and enclosed but has fresh air and sunlight and later at night it has a very nice vibe.
P. H.
Standard Weatherspoons. Good choice of beers at reasonable prices. Bar seemed a littl understaffed considering the number of customers on a very warm Friday afternoon.
k. h.
The go to pub to start your night out, cheap prices, fast service and good food. Can't go wrong.
m.
Hi just like to say myself and my daughter enjoyed the food l will go again so if you are looking for somewhere to go we went up in the open topped garden very enjoyable
S. T.
Always go here if visiting the City. My only continual observation is it's busy and tables always need clearing and cleaning before you can order your food. Staff are always polite and helpful, food always tasty and well presented.
D. F.
Had a large mixed grill which was OK but portion sizes have reduced compared to pre pandemic. Mrs had egg ham and chips. In all good value for money but food quality lacking somewhat. Good for stag and hen do's looking to pile in the food b4 drinking.
R. W.
Great venue plus only 60p of baked beans so you can spice up you coptails
P.
Great price for alcohol and always has a buzz in the air, unfortunately the strong smell of food wafts around the whole pub. Quite off-putting if your just out for a drink.
H. R.
I like the ambience and facilities, though the staff are rather anonymous. Pizzas can range from the terrific to the just about OK. Afternoons can be pleasingly quiet and relaxed.
P.
Typical Weatherspoons, cheap beer and food, had a nice breakfast before exploring Nottingham.
S. B.
Best wetherspoons in the city by a clear mile. Slightly hidden away up St James's Street in the city centre. Can get very busy but it has a great layout. Nice place to chill, I love it.
S. J.
Classic spoons with friendly staff and good beer. Only niggle is very slow service at the bar, might be better using the app.
J. P.
Great food, good value, good beer, friendly staff
M. H.
99p for a pint of Ruddles County and £1.25 for a small glass of red wine, what an absolute bargain. It's a pity that customers have to educate bar staff about wine. They didn't know what Rioja was. I asked for a red wine to which the member of staff replied 'which one'? I asked for Rioja and they said, 'what's that '.
S. P.
Nice typical wetherspoons, meth worzel magazines all over and the toilets are 3miles away no matter where you sit. Staff are great, decent beer.
S. H.
Very dull decor wise ,had a breakfast which was fine, typical Spoons.
M. R.
Spoons is spoons, but we like this one, food as u would expect and cheap drinks, nice atmosphere and lovely staff
C. C.
First time going to this spoons and think it is now my fave one in notts !
Such a lovely atmosphere and not too busy either !
D. P.
Can be grim and rough depending on when you go, otherwise it's a fine wetherspoons.
N. M.
Really decent spoons, has quick service and lots of space. Also has some safety facilities to clean hands.
d. f.
Great place, lovely drink, very busy
M. S.
A big sprawling, wild City Centre Bar, full of energy, too many students, broad age range, good prices, good energy
J. R.
Nice place, standard food for spoons. Sometimes the wait times are a little long
A. S.
Another great meet up with friends who we had not met for over 50 years while over from Canada.
A great selection of food and drinks served by fabulous staff. We are all meeting up before we return back to Canada in the new year, hopefully at the Roebuck.
J. M.
As usual Fantastic wetherspoons Great friendly Staff quick on service I ordered on there superb ap ime doing a uk wetherspoons tour have been to quite allot 🤪
t. l.
Another great bar in Nottingham. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit
H. A.
It needs a bit of tlc but not a bad Wetherspoons. It's better than the one one the Market Square, that is rough.
R. E. P.
We liked it so much we went twice in one day. Breakfast and dinner! Nice staff, good value for money, fast service. Great location, it is very central. If you're visiting Nottingham, it's very accessible, as other places of interest are nearby. Recommended.
J.
Enjoyed my meal only place families on limited incomes can afford a meal out!
M.
Cheap drinks, smoking area upstairs, does good deals, fantastic all over.
S. D.
The Roebuck is my favourite Wetherspoons in all of Nottinghamshire. What it lacks in natural light it makes up for in low priced food, cheap drinks and cracking atmosphere. Don't complain about any of the above, it's Wetherspoons.
If, like me, you can look past all the pro-Brexit propaganda and the demise of independent local pubs in the name of sub-£3 beverages then there really is no better place. I usually order on the app which means I can stare at my phone and avoid talking to people for as long as possible.
Pictured is a Wetherspoons pizza (around £7 with a beverage) with premium topping (pineapple), followed by a cookie dough sandwich which was so delicious it was gone before I could even snap a picture. However, my favourite meal here has to be the gourmet veggie burger, cookie dough sandwich and pint of Guinness. I call it the 3000 because it comes in at around 3000 calories and means I then don't have to eat anything at all for the next four days.
A. M.
Had a meal and pint in a very busy pub. Great service.
P. W.
Nice friendly atmosphere meals very good and cheap beer all in all nice pub
I. A.
Busy, very busy, needs more staff behind the bar, the app was useful in ordering food and drink saved queuing at the bar. Having said that the food came quicker than expected.
p. t.
It's a typical Spoons pub. Good selection of well priced ales and ciders. Comfortable interior.
R. H.
Better than Joseph Else..great starting point to a day
a. g.
Very busy day at the bar. Truly busy...enjoyed my stay there for an hour.
R. R.
Brilliant choice of ales and lagers. Good choice of craft beer in cans.
Prices are very cheap.
D.
Lots of beers & seating, upstairs & outside seating. Good size menu & very good value. Most beers under £3.50. My pint was £2.39! Lots of inports & craft beers, most under £3.00! Customers are both young to old. Service is quick and friendly.
A. C.
Busy pub, not bad food. Good beer.
P. B.
It was good. Being of a certain age I enjoyed the hot chocolate 😂 😂😂
J. L.
Service was a bit slow but staff were friendly and drinks were good.
D. F.
Typical city centre pub, busy with good table service, pleasant staff.
S. T.
One of the better Wetherspoons pubs in Nottingham city centre. Decent decor and plenty of seating.
The toilets are on the top floor and it's a bit of a trek for tired old legs.
Gets busy at all times of the day and evening.
During the day it's populated by the more mature generations.
Evenings it's a mixed crowd.
M. B.
This is a Jem of a pub, up an alley way to find it, but worth it. Great food, and a great selection of alcoholic drinks. As Wetherspoons pubs go, it's a good one. If your in Nottingham go visit.
B. H.
Bit cold, but still a good pub . Excellent beer, Brendan very good service from him & all staff.
A. T.
Genuinely one of the best spoons I been to and I go a lot. Pints come very freash and can't spot a flaw with them. The food also comes a lot better.
E. B.
One of the better spoons I've been to. Follows consistently with quality. Bathrooms like most spoons are an adventure to find. Overall pretty nice lunch.
s. b.
Very busy but we ordered on the app and the food came in a good time so happy with the service 😁
T. H.
Very busy on this Friday afternoon 25th March. Best to use table service via appt, otherwise long wait to be served.
R. S.
Roebuck steals my heart again
P. M.
One the better weatherspoons in Nottingham, Food always arrived quickly when I been, Only let down is sauce area but always maintained frequently so have to keep asking for sauces etc
C. A.
Great place and quite cheap drinks
G. A.
Great atmosphere with good food and great prices.
G. M.
Well appointed with bright airy glass roof and unbeatable value for money.
A. K.
Myself and a few friends travelled from different areas of the UK. We were in this wetherspoons for the majority of our time in Nottingham. Service was fantastic 👏 food was great and there was a great vibe from the staff. Highly recommend
P. S.
Spoons. Guest ales are great. Half price drinking. Hooray.
S. H.
Fast food service even though the place was busy. Well recommend
j. r.
Nice pub good staff, usually busy
A. C.
Great vibe, much better than the joseph else which is nearby.
T. F.
Great beer and the price was certainly right. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend
A. C.
Went for breakfast on a busy christmas shopping day very nice usual spoons its a little better than the one at the market Square,on a busy day keep up the hard work
S. R.
The best Wetherspoons in Nottingham. Clean, bright and good service. Prices always excellent. Not eaten here so can't comment hence 4 stars.
T. C.
Love visiting this pub for a breakfast. Whenever we visit Nottingham we always pop in for a drink. Friendly staff and very spacious. Bit of a trek to the toilet 😊
M. s.
Rate this place but not today they had no fish and chips .
L.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming, drinks always arrived quickly every time I've been, and since it's quite popular this is a great selling point. Out of all the wetherspoons in Nottingham this one ranks quite highly, would recommend for pres on a night out, or even as a night cap.
R. B.
Went for a birthday dinner, enjoyed 😉 our meal and afternoon.
T. B.
As always good to visit when I go up to Nottingham busy as usual but it was early Friday night
C. v. B.
Busy "local", seems to be the best meeting point for folk on a budget. Pleasant convivial atmosphere.
Not as busy as before, Covid I guess is still affecting clientele. If you use the Wetherspoons App you can now order from the real ales with your meal. This is a most useful enhancement.
R. M.
Typical spoons, usual GVFM. Must admit though, this place felt a little tired. Still, a good place to meet up with friends.
S. S.
Nothing to fault here, food is very nice, drink get you drunk, bathroom reminds me of Harry potter. Definitely come back here
A. C.
Great location, great staff & friendly atmosphere...... plus cheap drinks....
g. s.
Good experience here today. Ordered food to table via app. Order was accurate and arrived quickly. Door staff particularly friendly and helpful around 12:30 today.
E. L.
Love coming to this hideaway nice pub without idiots a more my age group scene
J. B.
Lots of people like it but it is not my cup of tea. A chain and if you like ordering by annoying app, I am sure it is fine. People did come to take our order when we asked for table service and they were lovely. The food was ok.
N. W.
Good value food but needs a good scrub!
I. H.
A decent Weatherspoons with the usual cheaper prices and of course the very long walk to the toilets
M. B.
Typical spoons very friendly staff. Food nice + a lovely glass of wine 🍷
K. t.
Very popular place and a bi busy but the atmosphere good and staff very friendly the food was was excellent and didn't have to wait too long .the meal deal offers again excellent .will visit here again
L. L.
OK but no salt it seems just lately that ever wetherspoons has ran out of something salt in Nottingham Tartar sauce Chester., & no hot sauce also in Chester
B. T.
Cheap and good food. Typical spoon.
T. B.
This is the bar. Good variety of real ales ever changing. Always Doom Bar, Abbot's available. Friendly staff.
M. B.
Decent pub but staff struggle to keep tables clear for next customer
j. t.
Roebuck is one of my favourite places, cheap and cheerful. Of course with the Covid, things have changed, you need the app to get your drink and it was a fair while before it came. Hopefully, from the 19th July, it will be a bit easier and quicker. Having said that, there was a nice atmosphere and the staff very pleasant. A really good night out and as near normal you can get for now.
T. f. S.
Excellent value. My go to for a quick lunch in Nottingham.
l. d.
Good pub. Typical Wetherspoon prices and can be quite easy to find a seat for a group of 4+.
J. R.
We had breakfast here, food and service fantastic.
D. B.
Nice place but had to wait a long time to get served at the bar. Ordering from the app was a lot quicker but not everyone wants to do that
C. H.
Classic Wetherspoon friendly staff and great prices.
P. S.
Great prices, friendly service and atmosphere.
L. O.
I visited for the first time in years but I used to come here a lot. I was alone and used the app to order. My food and drink came quickly and the staff member who served me was friendly. The food was pretty nice for what I paid for it. This Spoons branch has a nicer atmosphere for sitting and eating than the Joseph Else in the Market Square and it's got a nice historic feel.
C. B.
Had to wait a long time for our drinks order. Table was full of crisp crumbs. Very noisy too.
K. N.
Cheap good food, great drinks choice - typical spoons.
On the flip side - asked 3 different members off staff to clear my table (mess from previous diners). 2 just totally ignored us. Probably my own fault for going on a busy Saturday afternoon!
C. M.
Very enjoyable. Plenty of space between tables. Pleasant staff who took our order. Lovely food.
M. B.
Plenty choice of beers plenty of room and staff friendly place clean
S. H.
Nice and quiet and clean ,staff were friendly.
N. S.
Fab place for a cheeky pint and food. Always busy but have always managed to get a table when needed
M. H.
Just another Wetherspoons. Love it or loathe it. Best eggs Benedict I know.
J. W.
Enjoyed lunch with a friend. Good value. Great food served quite quickly. Only criticism was that 2 tables were reserved and for quite a long time before the people arrived. There was a lady in her 60s hassling people for their table either by asking during their meal if she could sit with them to save it for her friends. At one point she was lurking and hanging around us. Felt awkward. However just strange customer behaviour. Very busy. Excellent place for value. Advise go earlier rather than later to avoid strange behaviour and lurking!!! 😉 👍
M. P.
Good food and good pricrs
D. H.
Wetherspoons in Central Nottingham, nice building, always busy
A. C.
Good before it gets too busy. You know what your getting.
T. C.
Lovely atmosphere, cheap drinks
K. R.
Value for money
Fast service!
Cheap alcohol
Win win!!!
S. A.
Very busy toilets upstairs as most of weather spoons are
R. C.
Very nice only problem was its to busy but defo go there again
A. W.
Lovely clean , friendly pub, fast service , great food ! Outdoor area on rooftop . Lovely clean toilets ... visit here every time we are in Nottingham!!
D. G.
Service was terrible. Waited ages for drinks and food. Plates and glasses left on tables all around with noone collecting them.
S. C.
One of those places you don’t know if it’s good or bad ✋
P. S.
Good place for a drink and a quiet chat
P. D.
Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and was supprised by how busy the place was. Took us about 5-10 minutes to find a table.
(Unfortunately we got to it before it was cleaned hence only 4 stars)
We ordered on the app and the food and drinks arrived fairly quickly. Food was good and was reasonably priced. 👍👍 Would definitely visit again.
T. W.
Great place to eat when visiting Nottingham and a totally different level to the other spoons there (Else ?) Which is a cafeteria rather than a pub.
E. S.
Nice place for lunch out while shopping etc. Food hot and good quality. With the app you don't even need to leave the table.
B. S.
Great food, love the fact that you can order from the app. Didn't have to leave the table for drinks or food.
T. I.
Nice pub in side street from Market Square. It is one of the Wetherspoons so you know what to expect. They have nice outside garden on top floor.
M. M.
Could get a seat on a busy Saturday, quite impressive
S. L.
Good priced beer. Around £2.20 a pint. Lovely atmosphere. Doorman to pass so no riff raff.
Visited again January 2020 and had a curry. The curry was hot but the garlic bread was cold and floppy. 25p extra per person and because it was not curry night had to pay on top for drinks making it more expensive than I expected.
We may look elsewhere in future.
V. W.
Great selection of beers and spirits. The food is very good and there's a specials day, most days. Where can you go and get fish chips and mushy peas plus 2 drinks for under £15. That's on Fridays. If you don't drink or are driving you can pay £1.25 for a mug of tea or coffee with as many refills as you want. It's popular pub.
K. B.
Very nice little place. Upstairs seating area with roof terrace but be warned no upstairs bar so use the weather spoons app for table delivery! Quite busy with pre drinkers on the weekends as it is right in town but good selection of craft beers and gins
C. W.
One of the better Spoons in Nottingham - nice smoking area albeit a little small. Plenty of seating although you may struggle on weekends. Staff have always been friendly and fast, credit to them. Interior is pretty standard and dry, though the smoking area is above average.
L. G. (.
Cheap drinks, good location
U. B.
A few beers with old friends, had a good time and a good drink.
L. D.
Lovely pub, delicious food, but at the moment a small menu as waiting on delivery.
L. F.
A good smoking area and always a friendly chat here and prices 👌
J. 7.
Good isn't great even by Spoons standards.
N.
> Good drinks (Monster (Green) and Vodka Pitchers being my personal favourite; seriously, try them.)
> Good staff.
> Generally a nice place to be.
> Features an outdoor smoking area outside for smokers and vapers.
> Toilets are well kept, never dirty even on a Saturday night.
> Door staff aren't too pushy for ID during nights.
m. h. h.
Been going in this Pub for years..hasn't changed
P. P.
Place to be for a cup of tea, a glass of beer, or a tee hee hee.A get together with your mates. Then your Mrs walks in...... " Are you in the pub again ??? " Naa, I'm skiing,
D. B.
Fantastic food and quick service. The bar man was a great guy and very helpful.
D. D.
We went here for my daughters birthday food lovely very friendly ill go again x
W. D.
Very nice place well worth a visit
M.
If you are in town and want breakfast this is one of my favourite venues. Friendly staff, no thrills food (not an insult just simple spoons breakfasts) and if you want there is a smoking terrace upstairs. Tried it's sister pub on the waterfront and wished I didn't. This is the morning venue of choice for me
P. H.
good food you don't have to wait very long for your food good prices of drinks good customer service ☺️
D.
Great meeting place very busy pub and very good staff who quickly turns round orders, toilets disappointing with them being upstairs? (Unless there's more somewhere else) I had a chicken burger and chips, the chicken was a nice piece of chickbreast and not a reconstituted piece covered in bread crumbs ! The chips was real and tasty :) Congratulations on that I will definitely be going back and recommend you to my friends and family
P. T.
A Wetherspoon Pub but one of the better ones in my experience. Service was friendly at the counter ordering food. Food was served quickly and was very good.
A party of 4 had 2 x ham egg & chips and 2 x fish & chips. All plates were cleared.
Bill was £29.03 for drinks and food for 4 - great value.
Only annoying point was that we couldn't have the breakfast having waited 10 minutes to be served and told at 5 to 12 that the breakfast menu was closed. TUT
No hesitation in going back however.
A. D.
Good breakfast and great service
N. E.
The food was good and good price too. . The only down side is the waiters and waitresses were rushed off their feet. We had to clear the table ourselves. But I like the pub and staff r vry friendly. Good atmosphere.
c. y. o. a.
The best Witherspoon's around. Food is always great. Service is great. Always clean. I haven't been in for a very long time and I was pleased to see the revamped bathrooms and the addition of some lovely booths. Steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered a glass of wine with my meal which was also very nice. I love the value for money in a Witherspoon's and this is by far my favourite.
s. l.
Great location by the square. Prices are decent, value is fantastic. Some areas could do with a make over but this isn't a gourmet restaurant and the prices reflect that. Fast service and plenty to choose from. Order on the app to save time.
A. K.
Lovely little outside area upstairs
B. S.
Really busy tonight (Saturday) struggled to get a seat and table when we did find one it was near a fire exit and kept getting told off by the door staff for blocking the fire exit :( #dontputtablesnearfireexits slow bar table service too :(
j. o.
Good Wetherspoon's in city location.
A group of us ate and drank before heading to a concert and this visit enhanced the whole evening.
The pub was very busy but the staff coped admirably and we were very well looked after.
T. S.
Lovely food as always. A little busier than expected for the time of day.
D. C.
Great atmosphere, standard wetherspoon prices!
J. S.
Have dined and drunk in here many times over the past few years and have always had a great time. Would just like to thank Kirsty and the building team in particular for pulling out all the stops to help me get my ring back, which was lost behind a cabinet a couple of weeks ago. Totally unexpected to have it returned and so happy with the excellent customer service. Thanks again!
A. L.
Quite a nice wetherspoons pub with plenty of drinks to choose from which are always well chilled !
The food is reasonably good and represents good value for money, however there is a major drawback with this pub and that is the unacceptable waiting times for being served.!!!!
I realise that it is situated in the middle of town and gets busy, but more staff are required to serve behind the bar !
The best way around this is to get your smart phone out, and order the table service.!
More staff please Mr Martin. !
P. W.
Excellent service and food. Friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere
J. B.
Took 40 mins for 2 breakfasts. We sat upstairs as it was quite busy. Food was warm but only the sausage could be described as hot. I wouldn't sit upstairs to eat again. Food is usually hot and good.
J. H.
What you would expect from a Whetherspoons - tables that can't accommodate more than 4 people, menus everywhere, dirty plates left on tables.... The app worked well and staff were friendly and toilets were clean and well maintained. Would have scored 5 if it was a tiny bit more pushchair friendly
J. M. C.
Lovely and delicious food 😍😍
D. T.
Nice place , lovely and warm on a cold day .friendly staff
K. M.
Well organised, under the restrictions. Food came out quickly and tasty. Staff were great, friendly and professional.
J. E.
The drinks are so cheap, atmosphere is great (depending on who you sit near) and food is above average. Could be cleaner and more staff are needed but overall a great spoons.
A. G.
Great pub for drinks and meal. Could do with a new carpet throughout as very worn.
N. M.
Best atmosphere out of all the Wetherspoons pubs in Nottingham city centre. Good quality food and drink.
P. J.
Upstairs booths are nice, good hospitality and a pleasant atmosphere.
M. R.
One of the better Spoons I've visited. Food is good and drinks are well made. There was a long-ish wait on app orders but it was a busy Saturday evening so that's to be expected. Nice staff and good atmosphere.
E. L.
It is the only place to go for a hungover breakfast. Best Wetherspoons in Nottingham. :)
M. J.
I love the food here am though im not too keen on the recent menu change and the fact they've change the straws from plastic to horrid paper. They need their menu to be more accommodating to dairy, egg, soy and other know allergies. It's lovely in the morning for breakfast. Can be very over powering from noon onwards for those who does live crowded places. Reasonably ok place to take children before the rush
m. l.
Nice place...it would be 5 but staff should be litllebit faster and trained how to carry out drinks
s. r.
Cheap beer and good place
S. G.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Tables are well distanced. Decent prices
T. B.
Good food, served in a timely manner. The only downfall I find with all Spoons is that they never seem to clean the high chairs! What's going on?
B. B.
A Wetherspoons house, and nicely quirky: perhaps a little quieter than the other "branch" facing the main square. Can't fault the chain for the choice of beers, but can't say they are all kept well : but still rare to send any back here. Of course, you may have to do a quick calculation on the time you will get served with the few staff that the chain employs, and decide to drink at the pubs nearby instead: you could walk out of the "queue" and still get served quicker. But that is the cost of reasonably priced pint, get real, have patience.
Out with the lads, noticed that the steak menu has been clipped, but still an excellent deal on a Tuesday, never had a problem with the comptance of cooking here, you could pay a lot more for the same in a "proper" place.
S. P.
Good food and ales. Reasonable prices with my pint of Abbots and delicious lamb shank at £9.99. Toilets are upstairs so not very friendly for those less able.
s. h.
Very good lovely food good service
K. S.
always a great visit to this pub!
G. H.
Ordering rounds on the app for table delivery is great fun and it's very cheap and popular early evening.
However we only went there because the lovely Malt Cross opposite had an event on.
J. C.
Excellent service and excellent bar and restaurant !
I would like to say a big thank you to True and Holly for being so professional, helpful and kind on my visit with my friend to the bar and restaurant. They made my visit such a wonderful and happy experience.
The bar and restaurant was full and their were loads of staff there to serve food and drinks at the bar so there were no ques.
Amazing place!
S. S.
It's another standard Wetherspoons. Cheap and cheerful with the usual display of clientele from varying social backgrounds. Happened to be curry night, so there was an aroma of microwaved supermarket curry wafting through the air, with the sound of poppadoms being violently crunched by a family of 7 on benefits. Toilets are on the top floor, so think twice if you struggle with stairs, although there is a locked disabled toilet downstairs. Always think music would lift the drab atmosphere, but then these places are a stop gap for cheap booze before you move on to your actual venue of choice.
L. R.
Was very busy when we went, so staff were slow to take the order. However, the food was really tasty and came very quickly. Prices are reasonable and the staff serving the food, despite being very busy, were friendly and helpful.
C.
One of the best places to go for if you want a vegetarian breakfast. They serve a usual fry up but with Quorn sausage which I've never found anywhere else. It's cheap, it's cheerful and it just works 👍
C. C.
Me and my friend go there alot the food is ok sometimes it's rushed so it can be cold I like it there because there is an open smoking area upstairs staff are helpful here menu isn't too complicated
p. w.
Quality of food good.
D. A.
Above average Spoons. Plenty of staff, normally easy enough to get served. Food service efficient. Fast WiFi. The usual Everest ascent to the toilets, of course. Much better than the one in The Square.
S. S.
It's very dark and as usual the toilets are a mountain trek away heehee but the food is always good and the people behind the bar are always pleasant. They have an array of real ales too! Lots of choice.
C. M.
Very nice best Weatherspoons in Nottingham
M. S.
Well worth hunting down. Its hidden on a side street which makes this Wetherspoons a lot more friendly and affable. Good selection of food and drink as usual and the standard hidden toilets. Lovely.
P. L.
Decent place, plenty of space if there's a large group. And the smoking area at the top has good seating and tables. A must for any 'Spoons fan. Tim Martin is a legend.
M.
Love Weatherspoon's, love the app'.Was in this one recently for a birthday drink. You know what your getting for your buck, food's pretty good value for money, staff friendly. This place has the outside veranda to boot. Top pub all round.
a.
I actually like this pub. I've only gave 3 stars because I have to detract a point due to the location of the toilets. Up 2 flights of stairs. I'm young-ish so it's bearable. Just. But it's not very convenient. Just going toilets guys see you in an hour. Not good enough. Also the wait at the bar. Wow. Bar staff look right through you. Pretty scary. Then don't see you. Cycle continues for a while until you flap your arms around and cause a scene. Otherwise it's alright. Door staff are fab here. Location is brill. Just could do a little bit better. I still keep going back. So should you.
C. N.
Food good always fresh and hot. Cheap prices of drink and food for the quality you carnt go wrong. Plenty of seating available. Wheelchair accessible aswell. Also a indoor(sheltted) smoking area upstairs. Quite cosy but has a chilled atmosphere.
N. E.
Typically al Wethrrspoons, nip in for a small bite to eat, didn't disappoint.
A. E.
Great meeting place before a football match. Lovely juicy butter chicken burgers. Great table service with wetherspoons app I don't have to get out of my seat 👍👍
A. M.
Friendly staff just little slow on clearing tables but think this was due to how busy they were
P. d. W.
It's a Wetherspoons, so you'll know what to expect. Rammed on a Friday and Saturday, but lively, fun atmosphere. Great prices, obviously, fire breathers, stilt walkers and dancing bears at a minimum, thankfully.
K. W.
Good choice of real ales, food very good, VERY POOR BAR STAFF they need to be trained more. Food 8-10 bar staff 2-10. Revisited and no change not busy but took approximately 10 minutes to get served.
a. w.
Not been in for a few months, didn't eat, just a couple of drinks. It's ok. Used the wetherspoons app to order and was served pretty quick.
P. H.
Good food and beer only thing was we could not get the app to tell them l did not want any onion on my salad and had to pick it all out.
L. S.
Had a good time with friends although we had to clear the table and ask for it to be cleaned
J. P.
Had a really good steak and chips 🍟 very busy pub
T. H.
Bit of a wait on food on a Saturday morning but seeing as there is a footy match and a rock festival on it wasn't too bad.
Excellent value though. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
A. M.
An average Wetherspoons with OK food and drinks. Not normally much of a wait for food, but it can get busy. It's much better than the Wetherspoons on the Market Square.
There is an open air smoking room upstairs, which makes a nice change from people crowding around doorways!
M. R.
Great outdoor seating area
L. P.
Good old Wetherspoons, only minus is that it was full of students when I was there so it was super noisy. But it is situated in the city center of the student city so it was expected.
J. H.
Had a blast. Would like a wrap without mayo if I'm perfectly honest but I can bear it because it's spoons
D.
If your going to advertise table service and app ordering them employ some additional staff to cover, instead of the regular bar staff having to do it stood at the bar for nearly 15 minutes on a busy saturday afternoon whilst 2 staff are doing app orders and the other 3 trying to clear the bar of around 20 customers who were also stood there complaining about the length of time to be served. Also waited nearly 50 minutes for our food to come. ***WARNING AVOID THIS PLACE FOR FOOD WHEN ITS BUSY UNLESS YOU DONT MIND WAITING NEARLY AN HOUR FOR IT***
T.
Very nice meals! And drinks. I have it 4 stars because one of the drinks was 20 minutes late but other than that it was Excellent :)
c. b.
Great place, nice and clean. Lovely atmosphere. Good prices. Quick service, Tasty food but after ordering together our table recieved their food at different times.
A. G.
First visit to this JDW pub. Plenty of tables to sit, and an excellent selection of real ales compared to other similar city centre pubs. Tucked away down a side street and possibly not so easy to find. Well worth a visit.
S. F.
If you're using the app to order your drinks and food, order your first drinks separately or you could be waiting a long time...
H. A.
My partner and I, being students, love to frequent Wetherspoons restaurants because of their excellent value for money (where else can you get a pint of Magners for £1.99?!?), great WiFi, and convenient locations. However, the Roebuck Inn has consistently let us down. Twice I’ve been denied entry and told by the bouncers at the door that my biometric residence permit (I’m American), a government-issued ID card, is not accepted, despite the fact that every other Wetherspoons we’ve been to has graciously accepted the BRP as an acceptable form of ID. Therefore there seems to be a lack of communication and misinformation amongst staff that should be rectified.
Some of the staff have also been quite rude to us, particularly on one occasion when my partner and I were enjoying a few beers and nibbles with friends around 10 pm, and a staff member informed us that we would no longer be served because my partner was supposedly being drunk and belligerent. This was completely false, as it was the staff member who approached us in an aggressive and wholly unprofessional manner. We’ve decided to frequent the nearby Joseph Else and the Gooseberry Bush instead. Same great deals and atmosphere only with much friendlier and more professional service.
M. A.
In general, the Roebuck is a nice weatherspoons pub, with plenty of seating, helpful staff and well prepared food. They can struggle with fast service at peak times (e.g. a Friday lunchtime coming up to Christmas)
A. B.
This is a nice British Pub, good prices to buy beers and coffee. The fish and chips is not as good.
The atmosphere of the place is cool and perfect to chat with friends or with your couple.
m. c.
Typical wetherspoons, cheap beer and food, very busy when we were there, long wait for beer when ordering on app
D. G.
Possibly the nicest 'Spoons I've ever been in. Clean and bright with very friendly staff. The grub was top notch.
Only one complaint. I didn't realise I needed to employ the services of a Sherpa every time I need to take a loo break!
M. S.
Good pub with friendly staff and quick service. Drinks are great prices and quality. Would definitely come back.
G. J.
Food was nice, however the waitress was very rude to us. The order did take a while to come out but it may have been a bit busy. The butter was 100% melted in its pack which was not nice.
J. M.
Security were true gentlemen very welcoming and helped us with my Mum who was in a wheelchair. Well done.
The meals were served promptly and piping hot and there were alot of us.
We will be back soon. Thankyou.
T. J.
Cracking little place. Staff are very friendly and who doesnt love not having to queue (table service via the app). Just wish they weren't so run off their feet to clear and clean tables quicker!
D. H.
Probably the best Witherspoon's pub in central Nottingham.
Has the usual Wetherspoon's menu & drinks.
P. B.
Like the tardis seams tons biggervon inside nice amospere smokers area on roof be carefull one way entrance and exit route
S. R.
It's a wetherspoons people. If you dont know by now you'll never know. Its clean. Quick service. Pub grub and a good selection of drink. Has a great roof top/outdoor area for a drink outside if you want.
T. D.
One of the nicer establishments from the wetherspoons chain. Offers a good selection of draught and bottled beers/ciders. Very large space which can feel empty if there aren't enough people. Good for large groups looking for drinks.
C. H.
Waited 15 minutes to get served but staff only serve who shouts up, why don't they have a section on the bar to stick to so know who is next to served it would be easier for everyone, otherwise its a good pub.
R. G.
It's a wetherspoons - but a v good 1! Especially if u can get a seat near the front... &/or love a really amazing pale ale... Pale Rider is always available - it's a mighty 5.2% but sooooo good! If ur with me on liking that particular beer I'd give the full 5 stars!
A. M.
Great prices. We had the fish & chips which was good. Had to wait ages at the bar for them to take my order but they were very busy. Would definitely go back
K. P.
Excellent customer service very well organised following covid restrictions unlike other establishments we have visited.
P. C.
It's nice and relaxing, most times, but the food menu lets it down quite a lot.
Beans on breakfast always cold so be mindful when ordering a breakfast
P. H.
Great value mixed grill :-)
S. W.
Super service even when very busy
P. C.
First class service & food staff excellent needed to chill & happened top class service
M. A. (.
Clean, well presented and spacious rooms. Good access for disabled and non abled bodied. Prices were reasonable, and what one expected. A little short on staff.
M. T.
Love this place. Always our pub of choice on a shopping trip. Food is always great and the staff are friendly and helpful. Will always go back there.
N. S.
It is a Wetherspoon pub with a great range of cask and craft beers. Same menu as every other Wetherspoon and same value. Staff here seem friendly and this pub has an added bonus of a roof garden upstairs if the weather is good it is worth fighting it out for a table.
j. W.
Good food good price.
O. U.
Nice historical place, with good food
T. D.
Good range of ales. Not straightforward to get a full pint, not to get served in order.
W. T.
A very good spoons, your usual food and drink selection, however the building itself stands out here ,with a very well furnished interior and plenty of seating.
M. H.
Excellent Wetherspoons. Quick service using the app despite high volumes of customers. Servers checked on us to make sure food was okay. Very good.
S. P.
Had a lovly vegan meal hummus and roasted veg rap with chip and drink for 4.55 Or could have had beer for 4.95 Very tasty and filling good value
Good service and did not mined questions about separate food preparation . And ingredients used in meal.
M. G.
Quite busy, not always guaranteed a good table, but good selection of drinks - especially beer for someone with a gluten intolerance. I've of the best Wetherspoon's in Nottingham city centre.
B. B.
Typical Wetherspoon's I've been in better though the service was good
N. F.
Great pub great prices queing at the bar bit of a pain
A. P.
Not at all bad and better than other Wetherspoons outlets in Nottingham. Pretty standard food at reasonable prices and the place itself is good - bright and secluded areas on the upper level; a bit dim and crowded on the lower one but the service is efficient and the staff helpful and friendly. If you're looking for something more quirky and less patronised by the drinking crowd The Malt Shovel is directly opposite in a converted music show theatre and will tick all the boxes...
J. C. (.
My favourite watering hole when starting a night out on the town or if in town dining with the family. Good food and drink at the right price. Cracking smoking area upstairs, the pub has a perfect mix of being rustic and modern/contemporary in its decor. By far the best Weatherspoons in Nottingham.
D. M.
Avery good value breakfast prior to city centre shopping. Extremely helpful and polite staff.
K. H.
Busy and buzzing. Good pub fare as per Wetherspoons usual standards and prices.. Service slow on the weekday we went for lunch - party of 2 - hence not five stars.
L. J.
Went for breakfast ..Mushroom Benedict .Very nice .Good coffee .... Great location ..
J. W.
Food was OK my steak had quite a lot of gristle but two others had the same which was fine, good price with drink included. Staff friendly and helpful.
C. B.
Visited yesterday with my fiancée, the food came quickly, the place was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. Nothing else needs to be said. We'll be back next time we are in the area.
C. M.
Great place, good food and great choice of beers
J. G.
It's a typical Weatherspoons. But one of the nice ones. Great prices. Food is good. You can reserve tables if you want. It has a upstairs beer garden also.
C. B.
Good food, good price and good atmosphere.
T. L.
This spoons is ok, in my opinion there are better ones to go to in Nottingham city centre. It's standard whetherspoons , the food and drink is as you would expect. The annoying thing is , is that the toilets are upstairs. There are no toilets downstairs (only disabled) so it's slightly annoying to keep going up and down stairs of you aren't sat upstairs. But other than that it's ok
B. G.
Very busy at the bar but get the Witherspoon app and the table service is great. Plenty of choice of food and drink at a good price. Food was also very good and quick despite being busy.
G. P.
As spoons go this is one of the better ones
A. B.
Now this is a Spoons. Classy as they come with excellent drink choices with clear displays of price. They didn't let my Aussie mate in with his license but I'm willing to let that slide
C. B.
It's wetherspoons, need I say more?
P. H.
Relaxed and unhurried, this is a great bar to meet friends when going on a night on the town.
M. J.
Typical weatherspoons. Unbelievably cheap and loads of choice on drink and food. Yes the food isn't amazing, but it's cheap and cheerful. Lots of space, but I do find it a bit dark inside in the daytime.
J. “. C.
Weatherspoons is weatherspoond... but this a great one. A good space, cosy, great atmosphere... actually really good food too. Id recommend ordering via the app as bar service its self was painfully slow.
a. j.
Nice weatherspoons not been in for years not huge but still has everything you need
A. T.
Food and beer at a reasonable price
A. M.
It's a wetherspoons so it's never going to get 5 stars from me but it's a beautiful old bus station building with a decent selection of craft ales. Never tried the food!
And as always low prices on all alcoholic drinks.
G. G.
It’s a Wetherspoons, you get what you pay for, the staff here are very friendly and ordering via the app, your food and drink seems to come even quicker than going to the bar to order. Always seems clean and friendly and nice place to eat cheaply.
S. D.
Typical Spoons, cheep beer and patrons
H. J. (.
Got called the police, simply because I was sitting on my own and having a drink. Not cool
A. R.
GOOD SERVICE AND GOOD PRICES
S. R.
Popular pub with open airy feel upstairs and nice smoking terrace. Great value for money on food and drinks. Very efficient service when using the app.
M. T.
You just cannot beat their prices. Very clean, great gin mmm
M. C.
Good quality food and a good atmosphere!
R. D.
It is a nice place, can be very busy and the toilets are on the third floor.
I. D.
Best witherspoons in Nottingham, great choice of beers and food, and very friendly staff 👍👍
T. C.
Always enjoy coming here for the cheap real ales but the food has become progressively awful. My nachos hardly had any toppings on them and the shaved steak was cold. Stick to the beers
M. S.
Excellent service lovely food as normal from weatherspoons
K. H.
Good warm place for breakfast, freshly prepared in a timely manner. The server however forgot about the drink I requested after the food came. Good enough that I'd return regardless.
R. C.
We visited your establishment on my birthday that was on the 29th March. At that time I was having my last pint of Guineas as Iam now ceoliac, the staff there were great, especially the young blonde chap who was very personable and as I told him my reason for visiting and eating you chip's and the yummy ribs.
Is it OK to have a jacket spud instead of the chips? One other question ....When we leave .....can you get a proper tasting ale for the poor drinkers that used to drink real ale ......I can suggest an ale ....from Green's....
although the problem is that it is produced in Belgium so it may be good to purchase it on sale or return.😊
Rose
P. W.
Good wetherspoons pub
A. M.
Well above average Wetherspoons. Very spacious and good choice of real ale. Standard Spoons menu but service was a bit slow.
H. R.
Quieter spoons off the main drag, rooftop terrace is great. Quick service and order was correct which is rare.
A. S.
Good cheap food and drink. A regular pub I visit.
L. M.
Classic Wetherspoons, I believe the cheapest of the three in central Nottingham though I’m not a local anymore. Very busy a lot of the time and you might struggle to get a table and therefore slow service but otherwise your bogstandard Spoons
D. M.
Friendly service Great atmosphere
P. S.
I had the Mediterranean lasagne. It was of good quality food products ,very tasty and served with salad.friendly staff and all round good service. Deco traditional and comfortable seating.
A. P.
Wheelchair access is available but it is a bit steep and narrow. Likewise the disabled toilet would be hard to access with a mobility scooter. Given the nature of the building, however, it is a fair attempt to make it disabled friendly.
R. M.
Decent sized pub with good prices and ample table space. Slightly sticky in places and not the sort of place you'd take a date, but it does what it sets out to do and it does it well.
M. M.
In my opinion the best Wetherspoons in Nottingham city centre - better than the Joseph Else, either of the Lloyd's, or the Gooseberry Bush - if not the best in the whole of Nottingham. Certainly larger than any other, and with one of the best real ale ranges, but with less lairiness than the Joseph Else. Seems to attract elderly gents and couples. Sports TV screen in the side room. A nice salon that's good for daytime meetups at the front. Also an elegant dining area. Smoking area upstairs, along with the toilets. Take a note of a table number before you order your food. :)
D. R.
Slow service, lots of messy tables, but hey you know what you're going to get. Cheap beer, cheap food and poor service. It's one of the better wetherspoons about though to be fair.
M. E.
Tap water was on point, and Heinz ketchup on every table is every red sauce man's dream. Takes me back to my fire engine playing youth. As the old saying goes; shiny spoons are better than rusty forks; an inverted reflection of life.
J. B.
The food was so good and drink was nice and cold. Only pub I go into in Nottingham
W. B.
A large and cheap selection of real ale beer, lots of seats, good value food, nice atmosphere and no loud music so you can hold a conversation. "What's the catch", you might ask... none, I find it difficult to come up with reasons to visit different pubs.
G. M.
Great place to start your drinking with friends, cheap drinks. 😊
I. G.
Amazing place to chill and have a laugh with friends well worth the visit 😊
P. B.
It's a Wetherspoons, you should know what to expect. This one I found to be clean and with attentive staff.
N.
Basic spoons really. Cheap drinks, cheap food. Star lost because I ordered a 10oz gammon and got 2 5oz gammons resembling Ghandi's flip flop
A. L.
Great service and friendly staff.I meet my friends here once a week always a good time. Thanks. Alec
N. C.
Food was okay, drink service to table was quite slow but was Saturday afternoon so can't really complain.
T. R.
Always busy clean and friendly staff when burns night promo was on enjoyed the haggis neeps and patties for a change like the vast range of drinks
A. H.
Ace place, a lot better than the weatherspoons on Market Square. Great price with reasonable food. Lots of cheap ales too, can't complain at all
m. b.
Very good but menu never seems to change no roast dinners in week days don't know an out sat /Sunday so there it goes
Y. G.
Good value food and drink, rammed full nearly all the time. Good atmosphere though despite a sometimes frustrating wait at the bar x
J. B.
Good food everytime. Great selection of Cask ales.
D. F.
Very busy pub in Nottingham city centre. Lots of beers on sale. Food inexpensive but of good standard. Have always found the service to be quick.
L. P.
I have been many times with my friends and the food is consistently good and never cold. The new refurbished area upstairs is also very slick and attractive.
R. R.
Nice quiet pub. Great place to hang out and have a chat. Not much to say about a wetherspoons but its lively, yet easier to sit down and hang out in.
M.
My favourite spoons in town. Really nice and cosy place for a casual night out with work mates any day of the week. Good prices and friendly staff. I love it.
J. H.
Very popular place as it was packed when we visited
r.
Smallish Spoons but with great beer and very low prices.
C. C.
Had a very nice breakfast. Food as served quickly and cooked well. Staff friendly and helpful. Would visit again.
M. E.
Good atmosphere and good company.
L.
Pleasant place to have a drink. As it's not on the market square it's not overly busy, so you can get a drink in reasonable time.
D. B.
My favourite pub in town. Love the atmosphere and they have a great selection of great beer, and great food .... at great prices! Also love the rooftop smoking/vaping area.
C. G.
Had the steak and doom bar pie. Very nice, good portion. Stopped for food and a drink with friends before a gig and the experience was very pleasant.
D. P.
Nice place with lots of different beers at very nice price all spoons bars are good sit and have as much coffee or tea as you want for 1.30 great ☕👍
C. C.
Not happy at all had to mixed grills spent good money had to wait about 45 minutes and when it came out it wasn't fit for a dog all the meats was over cooked the peas was from the day before the egg was like rubber was that mad just wanted to get out the place will not be eating there a gane shocking
O. D.
My second favourite spoons in notts after the gooseberry. App orders take far too long though, waited 40 mins before collecting myself
M. P.
Nice but busy busy bustling
P. M.
Always busy. A popular place to eat, with the usual choice of Wetherspoons food and drink. A nice upstairs seated area. Service was quick on this visit
N. S.
Haven't been able to get a seat in over a year, every time I go, it's full, too many people sitting and not ordering.
L.
Nice yellow pitcher yah
W. T.
The roebuck is a typical "wetherspoons pub",always full ,rowdy ,youngsters drinking, but the secrurity people are very good and sort things out quickly ,as happened last nite .
a. b.
Good range of real ale often have mild, stout and dark ales. Plenty of helpful staff at busy times. Usual 'Spoons' menu.
D. K.
We went for dinner the lamb shank was melt in the mouth and so reasonably priced. It was very busy but we still had a very fast service
