Just visited the Vale again nearly 2 years since the last time. Pleasantly pleased to see the pub still operating as usual. Staff and customers still Covid aware. Felt relatively safe. Good range of beers well maintained (camra card accepted). Nicely cooked meals available plus the popular carvery still running. Will definitely return.

I went there for an event in the room to hire and it was fantastic. The DJ was really good and friendly, food was amazing and the bar service was good as well. Really good experience. Everyone enjoyed the party and had a good time.

An overall very pleasant place, where a wide range of drinks can be served, with very professional staff. A place of prestige outside of the busy area of the city. A definitely nice range of foods served during the day and an overall worthy local experience. The cultural heritage of the place is unique in its own way and keeps the tone of its old(but actual) self. A definitely go to in the future.

Had an early evening meal for 4, plenty of room for us. Didn't have to book and were ok with us having our dog with us, a border collie which got on well with their collie. Very friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit and not too expensive. Even had a quiz night whilst we were there.

The carvery was very nice I was absolutely stuffed after and could hardly walk. It was very busy in there and frustrating getting a table as we couldn't work out if we find our own or wait to be seated and the staff wasn't that helpful. The dinner made up for it though lovely beef, a wide choice of veg and lovely thick gravey. I will definitely go again and hopefully find a table quicker

In my mind a must visit pub. Great atmosphere. No yob culture. Great carvery served daily. Reasonable priced drinks. Really nice staff. Today we went to see the play off final. Bank holiday Monday. They had a Spanish theme and we had 4 tapas for £10. Delicious! Very authentic. Would highly recommend this place. We go Thursday evening for sticky 13s too. Great fun. Give it a go! Lynne W

Food edible, had to take my carvery back as my carrots were cold, person serving meat when realising I was bringing back my meal because of vegetables been cold, attitude changed, when carving the meat, children's plate had as much meat as some adults, also 1 child's piece of meat was of the end and was hard. I must say the Manager was apologetic, and his and bar staffs attitude couldn't be faulted, so Thank you to him. One other thing it was a carvery, so why someone was stood there serving out potatoes and parsnips, I do not know, parsnips very thin, thinner than chips just longer and you got two. Same with potatoes you got two same as children's plate. Sorry to be mostly negative don't like to be like that, but needed to be said

Nice big traditional pub, I found it a bit loud though, everyone was shouting over everyone else to be heard, but the staff seem friendly enough and the service is good, and it was fairly early on a Friday evening. It was nice to see bar staff actually watching for who was waiting, and not just serving people who had just walked up to the bar. I'll be back...

The meal was cooked to perfection the meats were so nice. Why I've not given 5 stars because there was only a choice of 2 meats beef and gammon. I would have liked to have seen a Turkey crown or a chicken breast I know it was a Thursday but I will try again on a Sunday. The Vale it self to me hasn't changed in 50yrs but still pleasent.

All of my family had a carvery at this pub. The meat was lovely, veg only just warm, Yorkshire pudding cold. The gentleman serving us this evening 20.2.20 was incredibly rude. No greeting or acknowledgement that we was standing in front of him, just banged the plate onto a board and waited for me to speak. No thank you, what would you like? He just handed the plate and stood nx to the meat ! We went up in stages as we had small children and everyone without exception commented on how rude he was. I don't think he likes his job very much and definitely shouldn’t be front of house dealing with customers!

The wake after my uncle’s funeral was held at The Vale today and to say this was a pub I’d never been in throughout my years living in Nottingham I was impressed with the quality of service from the staff. They even went to the trouble of making up some additional fresh food on the spot for those with dietary requirements. Add to that the real ales were in good condition too. Overall a nice place for a pint and a bite to eat.

Had a private party here, it was great. They don't play music here but in the function room I hired out, they kindly let me use a Bluetooth speaker which looks small but definitely fills the room with music! Will definitely book here again if the occasion arises.

Ridiculous I have not put a proper review here, I have been coming to this pub since 1977, OK some gaps in there, but generally a long upwards trend. Nowhere avoids the odd problem but on the whole a really good local, good beer friendly staff. Very popular for food. Currently Caribbean although seems off topic to me, I came to Nottingham to get away from home cooking although nostalgia beckons.

Good meeting venue good food /seperate sports bar. Busy pub, with food. Pleasant staff, down market clientele. Carvery meats looked dry and over done but were actually very nice (beef). Veg was over cooked, yorkshire small but nice, gravy good. Spuds and parsnips were really bland and unpleasant, overall everything was under seasoned. Mael was inexpensive, but still over priced for quality, drinks are bar prices with no refills on soft drinks. Will be going to Toby at Colwick for carvery instead from now on, better food, nicer interior and bottomless pop for the kids.
