A must visit if ever going to Nottingham. A brewery pub with character, real ales/ciders, and fantastic pub food. All at great prices.
M. (. S. K.
Great place, excellent choice of beers incl full Castle Rock range (of course !). Been here a few times before but not got round to leaving a review. What would be news is anything other than a 5 🌟 review ... staff couldn't do enough to help, incl offering tasters of beers. Excellent value cobs. Also staff offered and explained the Castle Rock loyalty card which I will certainly use on my next visits to Nottingham Castle Rock pubs. Thanks to the staff, Matty

This is The Old Coldstore venue at the back of the pub. The sound is excellent. It's great to have another decent Nottingham venue to play having lost some recently. Outdoor gigs when the weather is good. Easily accessible by tram of 10 minutes walk from town.
S.
Great pub adjacent to the Castle Rock brewery. Friendly and efficient service. Extensive range of ales. Outdoor seating front and back. Handy for station (2 minutes walk) and football grounds.
C. F. L.
Lovely bar, lots of different ales to choose
T. B.
Small friendly traditional pub with a great selection of Real Ales and Ciders as well as some more mainstream ones. Hot meals are served as well as cobs and bar snacks.
D. P.
Decent pub for pregame drink. Busy but still ok to get served. Decent selection of beers and plenty of room outside. No security on the door so ok for away fans, unlike most the pubs in the town or near the ground. Handy if you go by train and not too far to walk to the ground.
D. R.
Great beer & cider selection and after my first visit, can't stop thinking about the menu - first up, roast chicken, stuffing & gravy cob!!! Immense!
M. W.
Nice pub. Had some food but the portions were pitifully small as if for children. Went for a poetry evening the first part of which was a bit disturbed by noise from the bar behind where they were changing barrels or doing something to the pumps...annoying
D. R.
Great beer & cider selection and after my first visit, can't stop thinking about the menu - first up, roast chicken, stuffing & gravy cob!!! Immense!
S. B.
Castle Rock pub right next to the brewery. Fabulous choice of beer as a result. Nice outside areas at the front and back but rather dull looking inside. A refurb would make this place one of the best pubs in the city, although I suppose it does have its own charm. One of my favourites.
B. B.
Been drinking in here on and off for years, the beer quality has certainly improved, at least now the pint isn't flat as a pancake halfway down, although at £4.80 for a pint of Harvest Pale, which I thought was rather steep.
A. F.
A nice pub just on the edge of the city centre near the train station catering for the football crowd, the microbrewery beer fan and everyday folk alike.
The place has a good atmosphere, you can come here for a lonely pint or when your book has been stamped be with your mates for a night out. I think I spotted some board games in one of the corners as well, so be prepared for a drunken game of Scrabble too.
S. B.
Excellent pub, near the rail station, great selection of quality ales, well worth a visit
N. W.
Nice pub, great range of well kept ales, the Brewery Tap for Castle Rock and a must visit if you're in Nottingham.

Great Venue and Pub,
The Nottingham Board and wargames Club operate out of the Pub on a Tuesday and have to day that it has to be one of the ebst venues we have found, the drinks are reasonably priced as is the fod. Everything is located on the ground floor and very easy access for everyone regardless of disability or issue.
The staff are always professional and ableto answer all your queries, the place is clean and tidy and well looked after.
P. G.
Great pub with a good selection of well kept beer.
A. H.
First pub we visited once we got off the train. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub is quite dated and could do with a revamp. The bar sold food and fresh sandwiches if your peckish.
C. F. L.
Lovely bar, lots of different ales to choose
A. F.
Lovely steak pie, food lovely and would love to see this unique pub if full swing.
M. F.

A. R.
Nice traditional pub. Good selection of beers.
A. W.
A regular place to visit on a trip to Nottingham. Never disappoints. A fantastic range of Castle Rock beers in this brewery tap. Lots of other cask ales to choose from plus some draught craft beers on tap, and craft cans. Good quality food also available.
A. S.
Nice pub. Castle Rock Brewery beers. Handy for the railway station and bus routes. Food served.

Excellent beer selection. Relaxed atmosphere! The lady behind the bar was lovely and knew everything we asked about the beers. Highly recommend this pub!
T. B.
Old style pub, tap for Castle Rock brewery.
Usually have a mild or stout along with a selection of their beers including Harvest Pale. Closing 10pm as is the law atm.
D. F. S.
Very good old style boozer that a number of us use on match days. Wide choice of beers available at all times. Friendly staff
L. S.
Good party venue in the cold room. Rock bands and good beer.
C. v. B.
Not only is this the Castle Rock Brewery Tap but now a live Music Venue, The Old Cold Store. Saw the Australian Rock Band Massive there. What could be better live Rock Music and decent real ale! \m/
D. C.
Good little pub by the station. Ideal if you drink real ales.
d. b.
Excellent pub, great manager and staff. Extremely inviting and knowledgeable with a great selection of beers. I will definitely visit again.
W. T.
The vat and fiddle is an old type pub but it is so friendly, the staff are really friendly ,my hubby likes it because the beer is always good .
R. R.
Good slection of beer, very busy on a match day but that's to be expected. Bar staff very helpful and good atmosphere.
H. D.
Great place, good selection of real ales and ciders. The Cold Store is nice sized venue for bands ... and all just down the road from the railway station.
S. O.
This is a great pub with atmosphere but close to city centre. With its own brewery attached, there's a wide selection of ales. Food is excellent, some basic pub stuff but also more imaginative menu. Worth a visit
R. S.
Castle Rock brewery does some fantastic ales.Pubs nice and all.
B. S.
Good range of beers and honest pub food served. There is a covered seating area to the rear which is welcome. Close to the team stop so easy to get to. Overall, certainly worth a visit.
T. B.
Close to the centre of town, but not a typical town centre pub.
Easy to get served and get a meal before the football. Enjoyed it.
S. B.
Surprisingly large outside space behind the pub with covered seating and heat lamps.
Well kept beer and the staff were friendly. Ordering through the web easy enough using the same system as other pubs in the area.
M. N.
Good venue, great value beer, good atmosphere.....I'll be back!
L. J.
One of the best Real Ale pubs in the Midlands. Thanks team.
E. N. (.
Great selection of beers and ciders, as a cider drinker I'm often disappointed with the lack of choice so the vat makes a refreshing change. Have yet to try the food but locals give me great reviews and I'm going to give it a try! Very close to the train and tram station so great for a last stop before home 😁
J. B.
New food menu available now. Simple hearty options to complement the ales.
A. “.
Been here twice and some great beer. You can grab some food too. Pay a visit when next in Nottingham and very near train station.
A. K. (.
Nice pub with a great selection of real ales
K. A.
Absolutely amazing establishment. I go here frequently. Good beer, amazing atmosphere, live music and fantastically knowledgeable staff. If your ever wanting a good, reasonably priced beer, not far from the train station, then this is the place for you! All the staff are great, especially the young guy with the beard and tattoos! Exceptional service, the fact that I cant remember his name is testament to how good the beer is! Thank you guys!
I. M.
Excellent pub. Tap house for castle rock brewery, but have other brewers beers on too. Huge range of beers available and at a great price. Didn't eat today but have in the past and food was good.
C. S.
Fantastic pub. It's the Castle Rock brewery tap (the brewery is next door). As you'd expect, there is always a good selection of Castle Rock beers on offer but they also always have plenty of guest beers available too. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and offer tasters if needed. Great food too
D. T.
Great traditional pub, art deco styling to the exterior makes it a must see in Nottingham and a stone throw from the station! Castle Rock never disappoint with their Session IPA and regulars such as Elsie Mo 👏
N. W.
Whenever I am on Nottingham this is my couple/few before the train home regular stop off. A great selection of real ales from the Castle Brewery at reasonable prices. Improved selection of outside seating for the summer, and they even sell cobs. I can recommend the cheese and onion. Friendly staff and locals. I will be back in July. A proper pub.
R. B.
A traditional pub with a lively friendly atmosphere. Also very convenient for the train station as it's just across the road.
K. L.
Great pub with vegan ales labelled up and friendly staff. Cracking live music venue too. Would be my local if I lived by it.
D. R.
Fantastic night! So well organised, staff were very friendly and professional. I travelled from Wakefield for this night out with friends. Can't wait to come back.... thanks guys.
D. E.
Great selection of real ales. Friendly staff too.
J. M. M. F.
Really good impression with this place. Decent prices, good spots outside. Although I cannot tell you about the food cause I did not tried. I will stop by again
M. B.
Stopped in for a couple of beers on the way to football. It is a traditional pub so if the decor disappoints a little then adjust your expectations. If it's beer that interests you then you are spoilt for choice. There was a great choice of ales and as there were 5 of us in the group we tried quite a few. All were approved resoundingly. Good beers, well kept. We also found the service friendly and will return on future Nottingham visits.
G. W.
Good little pub with friendly staff, nice selection of real ales dominated by the 'Castle Rock' beers which come from the brewery located next door. There is also a good selection of whisky's. In Summer the outdoor seating is well used, fresh cobs are also available. Seating inside slightly let's the place down.
H. F.
Tasty dinner, served with a smile. Fast service and piping hot. Friendly staff, ice cold pint, yummy grub and decent playlist in the background. What more could you ask for. Good way to end my day in Nottingham. Thank you
J. B.
Super friendly staff and a lovely selection of beer equalls a great pub. Thoroughly recommended.
B. H.
Nice pub with good ale.. worth a visit
W. S.
Great beers on but i wish staff would smile to customers.
K. M.
Great night with a live band on outside but the Bar service left a lot to be desired average wait time was about 45 mins for a drink! More bar staff needed!
B. W.
I'm fairly regular the vat and fiddle. I love the castle rock brewery and they've always got plenty of great ales available (good selection of whiskey too). Close to the train station if you're fancying a quick drink inbetween trains. Particularly good in summer with plenty of outdoor seating. It's pretty reasonably priced too.
G. L. G.
Lovely clean traditional pub, pleasant staff
G. G.
Nice real ale. Nice staff. Nice outdoor seating.
M. M.
Always friendly and wide choice of beers and ciders.
P. S.
Good everything. Nice music venue too.
M. R.
A great friendly little pub, lots of beers to choose from and decent pub grub on offer. The curries are quality and be warned, they can be quite hot! What separates this pub from the others around is the cordial atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Nice outdoor seating area as well.
D. Y.
Proper pub with large choice of excellent real ale & cider.
D. L.
Great pub and great staff ❤ it
L. C.
Excellent ale and always a good selection of styles showcasing mainly Castle Rock beers as it is the Brewery Tap but always at least a couple of guest ales too.
Great selection of whisky and gin as well.
S. H.
Fantastic beers even have some of their own from the brewery next door
A. N.
Spur of the moment decision for a quick meet there with someone who had to catch a train at Nottingham railway station. Old fashioned pub basic, clean with reasonable food. Lacking extra comforts but more than met our requirements on this occasion.
S. P.
Real pub with real beers. The place is full of history, and there is a big function room which can be hired for events. The room is spacious and has its own bar. On Thursday there are Salsa lessons as well, which is briliant because its brings new people in.
D. B.
First time I've been here and was not disappointed. Curry and a pint for £7.95. Both very good. Huge selection of cask ales on offer with friendly and knowledgeable staff. If I didn't have a train to catch I would have stayed longer. Great place and deserves it's 5 Stars.
C. P.
New Stout from Castle Rock, tried it first time last Saturday and it really is good will definitely be back for more
R. A.
Excellent choice if beers, friendly staff but food poor. Ordered pie chips peas. Pie peas and mash arrived. Sent back and mash replaced by chips. Previous visit pie was a slice from a bigger pie and OK. This time it was like a small dumpling with a tiny amount of beef inside and that was a bit tough. Music loud this time but turned down on request. Music siuted age of the staff and did not reflect the age of the customers.
N. T.
Excellent Castle Rock boozer. Great ale, vegan options, excellent staff. Choice of pub grub is simple and well priced. Good curry nights. Quirky regular events in the function room.
J. M.
Pleasant staff good food and range of beers.
T. L.
Superb range of craft beers, you won't be disappointed if you are a real ale drinker. Very well priced for a City centre boozer. Only a stone's throw from the train station.
A. H.
One of my favourite 'old man pubs'. The food is decent enough, baguettes, chips, burgers, curry and roast dinners on Sunday etc. It's a castle rock pub so a lot of the beer's rubbish but they usually have some better guest beers on too. If all else fails, there are tins of the good stuff in the fridge!
m. s.
If carlsberg did pubs we'd drink weak lager, however this pub is awesome, brill choice of beer, under 4£ a pint and ace staff
G. D.
A must visit pub when in Nottingham, less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station. 13 real ales to choose from all only £ 3.40 a pint (£ 3.20 after CAMRA discount), food also avaiable very reasonable priced. Bar staff very friendly.
Not to be missed !!
C. B.
Great pub serving Castle Rock beers and guests. Next door to brewery and near station.
A. D.
Excellent pub that forms the Castle Rock brewery tap. Great range of beers on offer. The location of the pub is, ironically, opposite the location of the HMRC office that is currently under construction.
C. S.
A super little pub that I seem to find myself in at least once a year when I'm celebrating with my friends who do the Robin Hood marathon. Great selection of beers and whisky. Sandwiches and crisps on offer for food. There is a sweet little kitty who roams around the place too.
p. h.
Excellent beer, good pub grub (homemade burgers) level access for wheelchair users.
Dog friendly, even allow children if well behaved and on a lead.
Handy to Nottingham station
Fantastic for after work relaxation
D. B.
This pub is an absolute gem, just 200 meters from Nottingham train station. Drinks are good value and its right next to castle rock brewery. The choice of drinks and ales are amazing. The service is very good as well.
K. F.
This is where Castle Rock is born - and a great spot to enjoy the locally made brew. Outdoor tables are nice though it is near a busy street - you can always stay inside the pub and enjoy the beer.
P. W.
Good choice of beers and spirits, friendly staff and a warm welcome
t. k.
Great pub, lovely staff, great patrons (all clubs welcome on awaydays)
P. F.
Really great pub which is the tap for the Castle Rock brewery. Huge selection of beers from their brewery and further afield. A bit spit and sawdust - but I like that! Very close to train station.
S. K.
Traditional pub out of the way from the city centre.
The vat and fiddle is a cozy little pub with a small bar area and some extra seating. Its a little run down but has great character and often hosts talks by scientific clubs. The food is adequate and prices are slightly better than in town centre.
All in all I would consider coming back but only if convenient.
P. E.
Reasonable choice of beers although predominantly Castle Rock as you would expect.
Beer information on availability board not up to date and when pointed out , the bar staff did not bother to update it.
Also , they only discounted one pint of the 2 pints I purchased with my CAMRA card when most pubs give discount on both.
Next time I will purchase one pint , pay for it with CAMRA discount and then go to the bar again and purchase the same thereby getting discount on both pints.
Trent End Pete.
C. B.
The flagship pub/brewery tap of Castle Rock Brewery and if it's not right here then I'm sure the s**t would hit the fan. Great staff, great beers in a great pub which is only a short walk from the station and ideal for pre/post football/cricket matches.
R. C.
Excellent place, went on the brewery tour, well worth it.
M. A.
Fantastic for real ale drinkers, this pub is joined onto the brewery. 2 function rooms for hire. Quiet traditional pub. Busy at weekends, very friendly.
T. M.
Very nice pub with some really good ales
S. C.
Visited function room which is off main bar. Generally old style pub with tired appearance. Staff mainly friendly but seemingly unimpressed by my non alcoholic drinks choices. Real ale lub but as nkn beer drinker can't comment. Limited parking on road outside. Serve coffee but not cake.
R. A.
Excellent few beers after the cricket. Awesome beer garden with live music
S. T.
Good selection of beer and ales. Staff doing a fantastic job under pressure and strange circumstances.
N.
Friendly service, decent ale, outside seating hood for watching people pass by. The bacon sarnie was OK though a bit pricy got what i actually was. Anyway, was asked about it by the pub chef so at least they cared ;)
R. H.
Was catching a train and was able to get service at 11.10am on a Sunday; and i was not the only one there.
S. R.
Cider was excellent.... football crowd meant it was noisy at times but not.overly so.very accomodating of my daughter's wheelchair. Sausages could do with changing but scampi was great
B. W.
Castle Rocks brewery tap. There is always a great selection of perfectly kept beer. Good food and very busy when Forest are playing at home.
H. L.
Great selection of beer.
P. H.
Fantastic ale, good food
D. S.
An excellent 'brewery tap'. Always at least 10 real ales available, and a plethora of malt whiskies. Good food served until 20:00.
A. O.
Excellent local pub. It feels a bit ran down and they could make it a bit more tidy but still great beers and ambience.
j. A.
Great selection of beers, some truly tasty food, friendly staff and very convenient for the station too. If you're in this neck of the woods, I'd heartily recommend paying a visit.

Quality here the home of Castle Rock beers. A nice atmospheric feel and as well as the breweries beers a nice guest selection. A must to visit for any ale bod who visits Nottingham.

Tremendous service in a great location. Range of beers is superb, as you'd expect attached to the brewery, and the bar staff knowledge is astonishing.
S. M.
Great range of beers and good value proper pub food. 5 mins walk from Nottingham Train station. About 15-20mins walk to Notts County Football Club and about 25 mins to Forest.
R. W.
Very good public house in a busy area of Nottingham. Excellent selection of real ales from the local brewery.

Brian Clough - by far one of the best beers England ever had.....
G. M.
Took a quick pit stop here while waiting for a train. Tried a couple of Castle Rock brews, had a fantastic ham, egg and chips - all served promptly, caught my train. Couldn't ask for more.
S. W.
Don't go on match days if you like a quiet drink!
P. d. W.
If you're going to avoid taxes, do it in style with a wide range of locally brewed and delicious beers and ales. Then have a word with yourself, taxes fund the NHS.
B. M.
Brilliant traditional pub. Excellent beer, straight from the on-site brewery. Very cheap prices for Castle Rock ale.
B. C. S.
