We ended up here after our 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice were fully booked!! And couldn’t have been more pleased. Hadn’t eaten here for a few years, I used to be a regular but the standards dropped that much i stoped visiting. So the family decided to have a meal and they chose the wheat sheaf and to be honest I was dreading it and I went in with low expectations and for the first 20 minutes it wasn’t the best experience to lad behind the bar was far to busy chatting away rather than serving in the end I gave up waiting. Then the waitress seemed rather scatty and didn’t seem to have a grip on her job role. But then Rich S turned up and seemed to realise things were going south and pulled things around, the first thing he did was notice my partner and myself was at the bar for a second time waiting whilst the lad behind the bar was still chatting away and served us. Second of all he took over the table Service remembered people’s food orders he had taken (18 of us) and gave the correct dishes to the correct people. He had enthusiasm and a character that was pleasant and ultimately charmed a few frustrated family members down. The food surprised me I had scollops and chorizo for starters and I was expecting the scollops to be over cooked but no they were cooked perfectly. Mains I had Scottish mussels which for the price £9.99 where of ok portion size but let down by the lack of a bowl to stick the mussel shells in and a finger bowl. Also I think the meal should come some bread, personally I’d be happy paying a little for for the bread to be include. The ales I drank all tasted great and well looked after (IPA, tribute)

Sat outside in the sun for a very juicy burger and chips at lunchtime. Wasn't overly busy and the food turned up quickly and was very enjoyable. Extra sauces were of the ask for and you get an individual portion type brought out which isn't my favorite. Inside decor was comfortable gastro pub. The menu has a good selection of dishes to choose from but no pizza options that I saw.

Great pub in a leafy part of Nottingham. Just a stone throw from the village hall which hosts lots of really good entertainment from plays to world class artists. Didn't get chance to eat but the service and smiles were first class. Place was spotlessly clean including the toilets. Well done staff keep it up.

My mum took me for a meal here and I really enjoyed the meal I chose. The only one without chips! It was belly pork, the top of which unfortunately was overcooked and inedible, but otherwise this meal was fab, tender stem broccoli and wilted spinach - lovely The staff were welcoming and friendly.

What a lovely place, we were made very welcome and felt completely safe with all facilities in place . Our meal was superb. One of the best Sunday lunches we have had. Food choice was excellent and very good portion size. The price is pretty good for what you get definitely good value for money. The staff were very friendly and atentive. We took our four month old with us and needed to bottle feed him. We asked them for a few bits and bobs we needed and they grabbed them straight away even though they were busy. pleasantly surprised. Yesterday we went to the Wheatsheaf Inn to celebrate my son passing his college exam. I read the reviews on here and was a little apprehensive but thought we'd give it a go , I have purchased my Tesco vouchers and we thought we'd use them as part payment. We arrived to a nice looking building, not very busy outside and dead inside but it was 4pm ( we like it like this) the bar staff were very friendly and advised us where would be best to sit for 5 people, we then started a tab and got our drinks. All staff we encountered were friendly and happy, which was nice. The toilets had 2 locks on the door, which i found a bit strange but ok. We ordered our meals and waited. The food took a little time but not any longer than any other pub would be. The food arrived and look very nice and everything was hot, only gripe was the steak was well done and not medium rare as request but it wasn't the end of the world. We all enjoyed our food and puddings, which were brought to our table with a big smile from the 2 young men who were very friendly. Our bill was big but we did order more than normal so can't complain. I would of been happy if we could of used my sons staff discount also but we were told only one discount at a time. So was it nice- yes but was it exceptional food? not really and £18 for mix grill seemed steep but overall i would return and eat there again. We got 30% off our next bill, so that was a bonus. Glad I ignored the reviews and made my own mind up. Well worth a visit.

Good quality tasty food, much better than I expected from a chain. Interior was really nice, modernised but still showing off its original features. However, when we called to book a table the guy was quite rude and seemed reluctant for us to book a table. Waited a long time to even be acknowledged when we arrived, then a long time for someone to take our order. The majority of tables around us had not be cleaned and didn't get cleaned for a while after we'd got there. Service when we got there was friendly enough but they had ran out of a lot of meals. Would go back but wouldn't rush there.

Went here for a birthday meal tonight. Food was fairly decent, however partner had mixed grill which is a slightly more expensive meal and felt it was a bit hit & miss. Steak wasn't cooked to how asked for and sausage was pretty much burnt. Otherwise can't really grumble, served fairly quick for a Saturday night. One big downfall for this place is one of the members of staff, all the girls were lovely but one guy who worked there wasn't very welcoming and seemed unhelpful - got the feeling he might be assistant manager? However he seemed to be suffering from delusions of grandeur thinking he worked in the ritz from his poncy attitude. During our visit also saw him have attitude towards other paying customers who didn't seem happy. However he did manage to gain some enthusiasm when my partner was ready to pay the bill, fastest we saw him move all night. If he put as much effort into his people skills as he did his sprint to the card machine he might become a charmer of a man! Nice little pub but for cheaper and better atmosphere I'd try ferry boat down the road. 🖒

Hardly expected to get a table on Father's Day without a booking, but blissfully surprised. The customer service was excellent, and the staff were pleasant and cheerful. The food was superb, I fully recommend the Slow Cooked Pork Belly, it melts in the mouth like you wouldn't believe! The atmosphere was warm, and the music tasteful; too many pubs and restaurants just pop the radio on and let it be, but this felt more intentional and comforting.

Mixed feelings. Went last night for Steak night, at 7.30pm, and guess what... No steak. How can you run out of steak on a steak night ? My partner chose a prawn cocktail. Sorry, SHRIMP cocktail. The smallest prawns you have ever seen, and the only garnish was 3 lettuce leaves, for £6 +. My wife then chose Hunters Chicken, which came without any bbq sauce. It was complimented with a honey and mustard slaw, which the waitress agreed with us, left an awful taste in the mouth. I chose fish and chips. Fish good. Chips good. The teaspoon of mushy peas was the letdown, come on, how much do peas cost, give at least more than a teaspoonful. Overall, mixed feelings. Would we go back and try again, probably not. In these current times, with money hard to come by, you need to know you are spending well, so we would go elsewhere in future. Staff were all attentive and pleasant.

Hadn't been for quite a while. Sunday roast wasn't that good. They said beef was cooked pink which I like, but it wasn't and a bit chewy. Veg was over cooked and the roast pot were very small, all four pieces of them, so could have eaten it all again. Gravy and yorkshire were very nice. Need to 're think size of meals. Pudding was good.

Quite a busy place and it is advisable to book. Service was ok, however we immediately got in and within 30 seconds we were asked by 3 people of we wanted drinks - to reach we had asked for some time to decide. Food menu is good and varied. The food was presented really well and tasted lovely. Beware of (part) paying using Tesco Clubcard vouchers - they changed it Bill and put through the vouchers before we could check. This took quite a while to resolve. Strangely looking around this place is frequented by the older clientele. I would have given 5 starts but the voucher situation and the repeated drink question has taken then down a bit.

Went for a meal, they said it would be 30 mins wait. We when for a sit down, and had a drink, a couple turned up after 25 mins and went straight though. Nice place, good food and value for money. Register your email and receive regular money off coupons. This is a great place to eat, Sunday lunch is always highly recommended. Service can sometimes be a little slow, especially during the busiest periods. Book in advance if you want to secure a table, this is especially recommended during bank holidays and weekends.

Note: after our bad experience, the manager did step in and handled our complaints very well. Not a great experience. Food was slow to come out with no communication, side was missing and then when we pointed it out there was another 15 minute delay before it arrived. We enjoyed two meals there with family but at 6pm on Wednesday Sept. 13 we were told by the barman that the restaurant was fully booked that evening even though the restaurant was completely empty. He said that all tables were booked for 7pm. I said we could eat and be gone by 7 but he was adamant and we were sent away. I noted the chef smoking at the rear of the pub as we left. We took our money to the Lord Nelson instead. The following day we went to the pub at 12 noon and found about 10 people standing around waiting to get in. A young woman dressed in black came out to say that they could not open as the manager was caught in traffic. We waited for 10 minutes then gave up and, again, took our business elsewhere. Two very disappointing experiences.
