G. M.Not too busy mid afternoon, but most tables were occupied. We had a walk in and got a table straight away. Some people arriving later only had a short wait. Nice informal atmosphere, my wife mentioned a loud base to the music but I hadn't noticed it until then. After that it did annoy me a bit. Apart from that it was a great visit with a nice selection of cocktails and I really enjoyed the food.
U. C.Wax Bar was quite an experience for me. Had great attendants that were courteous. Drinks were suite affordable and the whole place was lively. However, as the night progressed a lot of people trooped in to the small space making it quite uncomfortable to still remain inside.
T. S.I took advantage of a Groupon deal here for their Tapas.... not expecting a huge amount but was extremely pleased.... my wife and I had 12 tapas and struggled to finish it. The food was amazing and red hot. It was quiet but it was 3pm on a Monday afternoon but even so we cannot fault the young lady who served us or the food. It was outstanding and the cocktails to start were lovely.

The bar was properly stock with different forms of spirit and beer. The restroom are at the rear of the building. The restroom are spacious. It's located right in the heart of the city centre.

G. D.My partner and I went to Wax Bar for cocktails, chicken wings and plantain. Can’t speak more highly of the food, drinks - and the owner was lovely! Would not hesitate to come back - next time we will be bringing friends and family. The wings are an absolute must try!

K. L.The location is convenient and the staff are friendly. The food was reasonably priced however it took ages to come out of the kitchen. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue, but we had a show to get to and we didn't think it would take 40 minutes to get fries, samosas, and chicken skewers.
I feel bad giving three stars as everyone was really nice, but given the atmosphere, the wait for food seemed way too long. We almost didn't have time to eat it.
L. H.I visited with two dear friends. Wasn't sure what to expect. The decor was great very chilled. We pretty much has the whole tapas menu and I'm so glad we did. Food was served in a timely manor. Well seasoned very filling. Simple but don't Well! The cocktails are great too! Highly recommend and 100% visit again! Thank you!
A. N.Went for a meal with some friends on Friday night. We had never heard of this place but decided to go try it out. We had so much fun, the staff were so friendly and polite, the music was great and not too loud whilst we were eating. The food may have been way too spicy for me but it was so nice that I couldn’t leave any. Cocktails were also great. Would 100% go back!

B. B.This is a welcome addition to the Nottingham food scene, an African Tapas bar. It's not done that toe curling cliché thing of putting up tribal spears and shields, so may not be obvious. We booked on a Groupon deal, ethier they or the bar were confused how many people it was for, the confusion continuing with a server not explaining what is included in the deal. OK, why not 5 stars? The full range of Tapas was not available or restricted amounts - but this proves the freshness of some of the dishes. Also, vegetarians may struggle a little here. There was only 4of us in, yet there was a 50 minute wait, so there are doubts about their ability to cope. However, when the food came, it was excellent, moderately spiced, full of flavour. The music was modern African, so you will come across new sounds and flavours here. When we came out, other restaurants were busy, come on guys give these newbies a chance, if you like something different, you won't be disappointed. To the owners : consider specials, to ease the problems of stock flow and ensure returning customers, and and another vegetarian option.

I have since returned to Culture Club downstairs and is now the most overcrowded, overpriced venue in Nottingham with the worst bar service I can remember.
This AFROBEAT venue, the only one left in Nottingham, needs a licence for the upstairs to remain open with a better bar service than downstairs. We need investors to revive or start another Afrobeat venue to give this place some competition and stop ramming and cramming people in to make money and provide a better all do I d service to the Afrobeat fans, that used to come from even London for our venues that no longer exist.
