Reviews of The Four Candles - JD Wetherspoon

Like every Wetherspoons, it's an excellent value for money. The ambience at The Four Candles is excellent and is one of the most popular with students in Oxford, most likely because the drinks are quite cheaper.
Unfortunately, most of the food items that we planned to order yesterday were out of stock which was a shame. Fish & chips and Half grilled chicken were out of stock. Pizza oven was broken. So that left us with very very limited options on the menu and we had to order items that we wouldn't be our first choice here.
Despite being a Monday evening, it was packed and hence, the service was slightly slower.

Typical wetherspoons pub.
Decent food and a good choice of drinks at reasonable prices.
Service was a little slow (only ordered 2 drinks).
Seating could do with a good clean in the booths downstairs as they are covered in stains.

Usual Wetherspoons with same menu’s and similar drinks. A bit smaller than the average Wetherspoons. Staff friendly and helpful. Food as you would expect for the price

Called in for a bite to eat after visiting the Pitt Rivers museum and was very impressed. Although smallish for a 'Spoons it was very clean, the staff were friendly and the food was great. If only more of the chain could be like this. Highly recommended.

Very clean and tidy pub with security on the door table service fast.
Prices fantastic with plenty choice of food or drink

Fantastic Wetherspoons branch in Oxford, great location, close to everything in the city. Came in one morning just a few hours before a live music festival a few months back, so was very busy for the typical morning trade, but my breakfast food was delivered quick and was as expected. Cheap and cheerful, can't go wrong. Cleanliness was decent enough, staff didn't look too happy, but I can't really fault them, as it was packed at 9am. I was on my own so couldn't help but overhear the conversations of the typical rude Wetherspoons clientele, so hats off to the staff for sticking it out, still providing good service.

Another nice Wetherspoons. Food and drink of usual good quality served in a pleasant environment by friendly staff. Nice to see Ronnie Barker's old school being put to good use and one of his best ever sketches remembered in the pub name!!

I preferred this over the other city centre Wetherspoon's.
Architecturally pleasing on the inside with a curved balustrade upper tier.
Had a local guest ale and a coffee on my visit.
Not as noisy as the Swan and Castle
