Lovely canal side pub with outside terrace....bar woman was lovely too

Brilliant cosy little pub with an excellent beer garden. The river views to the back really do prepare you to sit back, relax, and while away an afternoon drinking with friends. The menu itself has a good selection of pub snacks and drinks available which came rather quickly. Do get here quickly on a sunny day though, as the outside tables tend to fill up quickly

Lovely pub for an after-work drink. Nice selection of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages. Nice aspect and decor. Much better than it used to be (grungy and a bit dirty)

Booked for a table for 4. Initially seated at a tiny table in the corner but while we were waiting for our food a waitress offered to put the vacant table next to us together with ours to give us more space. The food was delicious. We ordered burgers (chicken & beef) and the peri peri chicken. Everything was delicious.

Nice place, but we went because it was very warm inside. They don't have any ac and during the summer (not even a heat wave) we a lot of people inside, it feels like hell.

Nice slic and well maintained pub in the heart of Oxford by a river. Its got a nice comfortable outside drinking area and it's also got a decent selection of drinks available. Prices are what to be expected in that area. Food menu is simple but effective, could possibly introduce a few started options like soup to the menu.

Hired the upstairs for my 50th. Very accommodating, good venue for a party. I ordered food platters, prosecco and beers for my guests and it all went really smoothly. Bar staff great and stayed open til 2am. Being close to town, train station, bus station and car park everyone was catered for. Highly recommend for private function.

Attended a friends wedding reception booked here and the staff were very friendly and helpful We had to call the emergency services for a member of the family and the staff were very calm and understanding and allowed us to take charge of the situation without interference. This excellent pub as very comfy chairs & authentic wooden tables that exudes both the comfort of tradition & the forward looking zeithest of modernity. Staff seem very happy to work there & customers always seem satisfied that going there for drinks was a sound decision. It is an ideal place for a drink or two & a nice chit chat with friends. Its location is very convenient as is near railway station, bus stops, coach station & near city centre. My ideal place for a late evening night cap !

A nice little place on the river near the station that's great for a quick drink. It can lack a vibe when it's not busy as there is lots of open space and not too much seating. That said, now they're done up the outdoor area with seating and shelter, it's much better. Service is pretty quick and friendly. A nice place to go away from the hubbub of the central bars and only five mins from the station.

A welcoming, almost retro England sort of atmosphere mostly filled with laughs, subtle cheers and happy folk. The music boasts mostly th most modern releases on a low pitch so as to not interfere with the conversations of people which shows a sense of customer respect which, personally I appreciate so long as people don't shout at each other unnecessarily during their conversations. The service levels upon entry is phenominal. Payments, ordering, staff friendliness and the usual around the bar, all was quite good. The only down fall I found was if you ordered, and then proceeded to go outside into the gorgeous outside area, you will have a chance of having your orders lost and forgotten amidst break change overs. When the foods did arrive, they did so in a very professional man be, having had the cheese platter myself.

I came to The Oxford Retreat for a social evening and immediately noticed the fresh new decor inside. The evening was warm so the outside porch look a nice place to be. The wine list is limited to a few choices so it's not their main expertise. My choice of a Tempranillo was fine for the evening. A full range of beers and spirits was available. So in all a fine place for a catch up with friends. The staff got a bit confused, I asked for a wine decanter and got an ice bucket, hey ho live and learn I guess.

Pleasant Pub in Oxford, nice garden area, open and with a beautiful river (unfortunately there was a trash bag in the river in that day we went) Our friend from Oxford said they have London prices which for us is normal. Very nice nachos but the cheese got them hardly stick to each other, they had to be broken ahah. But everything great! Super recommend! And very nice Pimm's lemonade, the best i had so far, but the glass made it look a bit small, which i had more eheh

I haven't been to the Oxford Retreat for years but I was really impressed with the work they've done to the garden - it's now a cosy little spot to meet friends. Food was good too!

I was on the hunt for a venue for a surprise 40th Birthday party for my brother and found The Oxford Retreat. I couldn't have chosen better! The bookings team handled my enquiry extremely efficiently and responded promptly to all of my enquiries. Nothing was too much trouble for them. On the night the bar staff were extremely helpful and efficient and again, nothing was too much trouble for them! The team even created a drinks menu in honour of the Birthday boy which was a really nice touch. The venue itself was perfect, The Study was the perfect size for our guests (around 50 people) with access to an outside area for smokers. Honestly, I would not hesitate to recommend The Oxford Retreat if you are thinking of having a function. Brilliant all round!

We rented the upper room for a Surprise Farewell Party event at the beginning of September. All staff, from the booking coordinator to bar staff and manager on the night were really helpful, the actual room has great facilities (including outer patio) and we would 100% recommend if you want to have a stress free event!

Nicely renovated with the pub clutter and fake timbers all gone, now a nice comfortable environment with great riverside views. Food is now much simpler, has brew dog on tap so the beer makes up for that.

It was lovely the Bar Staff were friendly, Cocktail Drinks were tasty, Only draw back is we couldn't all sit together because there were so many of us but it was great to have the outdoor heaters and the Toilets were in good order too.

(Translated) From 6pm to 9pm happy hour, with a bottle of wine they include a "table" of cheese, in our case six pieces of cheese with biscuits and caramelized onion. You order and pay with your mobile phone after sitting down. It has a covered terrace. Good place, very quiet and pleasant.
