I'm giving this 5 stars. Not for the furnishings. Not for the comfort of the seats. Not even for the lack of parking.. but because I cant think of a more friendly place with a solid selection of beer and lovely people. I grew up coming in here with my dad and I can say hardly anything has changed and nothing needs changing.

Really do love this place. This is what you call and old school pub. Staff really great and in enjoyed talking about old and current pubs around Peterborough. I am yet to taste the bar as I have always been driving but looking forward to having a good drink there soon. All the best .

Excellent back street local with an excellent range of quality real ales.

Great pub, great beer, great entertainment. A true British Alehouse with a fantastic selection of ales and a warm friendly atmosphere. The landlord certainly knows how to select and keep a good pint. If you like good beer in a traditional environment rather than the usual identikit pubs, get yourself down to the Hand & Heart.

A hidden gem with an excellent selection of real ales served and kept exceedingly well.
There's entertainment on several times a month inside the pub and a couple of beer festivals that take place in the garden throughout the warmer months. The outside stage is excellent and I've watched a lot of good bands there (and played myself). There's a big "beer shed" for the festivals and plenty of room to chill with your ale.
Bram and Sue are excellent hosts...

First visit, great beer, will definitely be back

I have found the Hand & Heart to be a fantastically friendly and welcoming Pub with an amazing selection of real ales that constantly change as local breweries offer their latest fare and the food on offer is always tasty and filling. Various events are put on almost every night ranging from open mic nights through to the traditional pub staples of quiz nights and darts competitions. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough and it is definitely one of Peterborough's hidden gems.

A true gem of a place fantastic real ales always on tap and at least two beer festivals a year with live music on the garden stage in front of the sheltered garden real ale bar. Add to that an original 30's interior and a wonderfully diverse clientelle makes this a must visit pub for both music and real ale fans alike

Bram is an old school landlord who runs this pub with love (and few moans and groans).
'Proper' boozer this - with a good and always changing real ale selection, and some regular beer festivals with up to 60 ales on offer!
Home cooked grub, traditional pub style with many features from when it was created - the tiled corridor with beer hatch to the bar is a classic, as is the outside (ish) toilets.
A pub that has a darts board (important to me), and runs several darts teams.
Hard to find, but a classic, when so many pubs with character are lost to us, or fake it with 'themes'.

Excellent community Real Ale Public House and the beer quality is usually outstanding.
There is a Quirky garden out back, with a fantastic outdoor designer "Beer Shed" which is used for wonderful Beer Festivals. There is also a outdoor stage for entertainment purposes, and some very well kept Flora.
The first beer festival is always on St Georges day weekend.
Definitely some of the best kept beer in Peterborough.

Why stay in and watch revellers in The Rovers in Corrie or boozers in The Vic in Eastenders when you can sample real life – and remarkable real ales – in the Hand? It’s so much better than a soap opera - there are top characters here, both behind the 1930s bar and propping it up! Good people from all walks of life drink the best beer in town here, enjoying the art of conversation and banter, music, darts, beer festivals (next one starts April 23), quiz nights, even a cheese club! It is a delight for ale-lovers of all ages. Keep your hand in and keep this heart pumping – make sure this old-fashioned boozer stays in business. See you there.

The 10th annual St George's Day Beer Festival is on until Sunday 28th April. This us a lovely back street pub with an historic 1930s interior.

One of the best "back street boozers" in Peterborough.
Located 2 miles out of the city centre, this 1930s pub is unspoilt. It retains its two room format, though most activity happens in the bar.
A nice walk for those who fancy it (just don't do it at night), otherwise the pub is a short walk from the bus stop for the Citi 1 route . Taxi numbers are readily available behind the bar also,
The bar sports 5 - 8 real ales at anyone one time and Landlord, Bram, is also an experienced cellarman.
A large open garden is an unusual feature for a pub is such a populated area. The garden is used for beer festivals with live music twice a year, when the beer is served from an outdoor structure known as "Uncle Bram's Beer Shed"! Of course, the garden is always open when the pub is and to sit outside with a pint on a nice sunny day is a bonus.
Aside from Bram and his wife Sue, there are two other regular members of staff who are nice and friendly and the outside bar is staffed by Bram's friends, who volunteer their time during the beer festivals.
The main bar is also home to the pub's live entertainment, with local bands, a monthly open mic night and quiz on a Saturday. There's even a monthly cheese night!
In conclusion, although this pub is 20 mins outside of the city centre (by bus), it should definitely be added to list for those organizing a pub trip / crawl to Peterborough. A hidden gem.

Tasty beer. private beer garden in the heart of Peterborough. Very pleasant.

Fantastic atmosphere, great and well kept cask ales. Even better now that it is a free house. A must have unique experience. Genuine 1950s decor completes the piece

Lovely pub, great beer, only a small walk from the city centre or the number 1 bus stop on Lincoln road

Excellent real ale best in town

A bit rough around the edges, but it's good for Pokémon Go players - WiFi and charger cables available to use. No parking, nearest carpark is behind Iceland.

Back street local with well kept beers, a roaring fire and friendly locals. If you don't support real pubs like this, then they won't be around for long.
