What a great find! So many gins and rums to choose from! Lovely cosy room upstairs but small, so in summer or weekends you’d need to book ahead. Some garden space at rear also. Great service and ambiance, will definitely go back!

I wish I had more photos to show the public because I simply cannot explain how much of a hidden oasis this is. Forget going to weatherspoons, forget going to the same old haunts with the same old decor, people and limited drink selection. Support local and go to this absolutely gorgeous little place on New Street (behind pasta bar on the Barbican)! It's surrounded by stunning stone walls and is part of a long stretch of homes and buildings dating well over 300 years old. You can really tell by the low hanging beams in the hall way, the spiral and narrow stair case to the toilets and the squeaky shabby chic (but authentic) floor boods on entry. This is all before being met with a whopping 200+ different type of gins that are lined wall to wall in front of you in bottles of varying shapes and colours, not to mention the flavours. Some of them make you forget where you are and what you're drinking (not just because of the proof percentage!! ) but because they offer tropical, fruity, wood, juniper flavours, all sorts. You name it and they've probably got it. You ask for a taster board for £22 and you get 5 double gins with a complimentary mixer. I can't stress how worth the money this place is. 5 star and I'll never stop coming here for sunshine, staff and a well rounded selection of gorgeous, real gins.

The team at Barbican botanics are super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The selection of gins on offer is staggering, there is rum and whisky too for non-gin drinkers. The outside garden is amazing and feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the Barbican. The indoor rooms are cosy and chilled. This is a must visit venue for drinks and gin in Plymouth

My first visit to Barbican Botanics took place this Thursday evening, during a small plate tasting event where Barbican Botanics joined forces with a Japanese restaurant, KuKu(another local business). The evening was absolutely exquisite. Culinary masterpieces, accompanied with drinks which had been delicately and passionately developed to enhance the flavour of each dish. The service was attentive, friendly and was served with a wealth of knowledge about the product in which they were providing. Every ounce of enthusiasm, compassion and dedication to make this night wonderful did not go unnoticed. For all these reasons and more, Barbican Botanics is a MUST GO. I highly recommend you give your custom as you will not be disappointed.

What an amazing find this was! I came here because my sister and I love our gins and told by family that it was open. Unfortunately for my sister, they were closed the day she arrived here..... But luckily for me I chose an evening they were open and didn't regret it! Currently 114 different gins available and accompanying tonics and added botanically amazing additions........ From the very welcoming owner and female door staff to the very knowledge Matt...... I really felt looked after! I even took 2"previously "non gin fans! Living 300 miles away is going to be a hard one! Well done team..... You have a great location and ethos!

I flippin love this place. If you love you Gins then check out the Shop, check out the Bar so you can Try before you Buy, and then book yourselves in for a Gin Masterclass in the school on the top floor! The Team are lovely, the shared sun trapped courtyard is brilliant. All perfectly located in the best area of Plymouth.

An exceptional venue that compliments a homely relaxed atmosphere. A wide selection of gins that can be tasted via a gin platter known as the gin flight. A good date venue if you want to actually be able to hear each other and enjoy yourselves.

Visited these guys to celebrate a coursework deadline on Thursday. What a find! Gin flights are fantastic, staff very knowledgeable. The only thing I could suggest an improvement on is that there aren't enough chairs for how busy they deserve to be!

A real hidden Gem. If you drink inside you are missing out. The garden is beautiful with real Japanese peace garden vibes, where you can enjoy an incredible selection of gins provided by friendly and enthusiastic staff members. This family ran operation runs smoothly and its a joy to sit in their creation. Make sure you book though to avoid disappointment.

A fabulous gin experience!! Friendly atmosphere, with a great indoor and outdoor seating area to enjoy your drinks. Staff were very knowledgeable and welcoming. Great little stop on a Barbican trek or possibly a place of pilgrimage for gin lovers. Huge choice of gin. You can just enjoy a G&T or buy a bottle to take home. When I visited the garden was open. I had a very pleasant half hour soaking-in gin and sunshine. Would highly recommend.

Came across this wonderful little gin bar in the back lanes of the Barbican - what an absolute gem! Small local family run business, with a shop and tasting rooms, their Gin Flight is the choice purchase, choose from many (think shelves full) of the best Gins. One being their very own, a small craft Gin Barbican Botanics which they have successfully brought to the local market, events and restaurants/bars, mind you I like gin and this is one of the best you can buy. I wish them well, they deserve success, they seem to always be working so hard.

Very friendly personal experience given by all the members of the establishment present. An amazing selection of Guns available in its simplest form- with tonic - that will suit every taste. Give it a go for a cosy night out together in the bar area or a works group outing upstairs in the snug area. Truly great night out with a twist... of lemon.
