Reviews of The Bridge Inn
A. L.
Lovely village pub with friendly efficient staff. Nice locals too. The menu is good, though no Sunday lunch. Ordered steak and ale pie with chips and fresh veg. Huge portions of both this and the ham, eggs and chips.
Definitely a good pub to visit when in the area again. Thank you.

We were staying on the local campsite and had a meal last night to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We had a very warm welcome and service was excellent. The quality of food and drinks didn’t disappoint. My wife commented that her fish pie was the nicest she had ever tasted in a pub. Well worth another visit.
R. N.
Lovely place to stop for a quick lunch.
Great food, excellent service

Visited on a very wet day late November.
Made to feel very welcome even though we had a very wet dog. Sat in front of a lovely log fire which warmed the winter chills. We chose ham egg and chips for our meal and it was the best we've had in many years. Good beers and ciders to be had. Jail Ale was on and I had to try a couple.
Lovely pub will definitely return.
A. G.
Nice pub in lovely little town.
Fairly ordinary from the outside but very pleasant inside and decent outdoor seating. Welcoming staff and very nice beer.
Friends tell me food is pub grub and decent.
Good place, happy to recommend.

I'd not been here for a few years, but decided I wanted my birthday tea here.
We booked a table in advance. On arrival it became apparent that the pub was full of noisy, feral Americans. They were kind of hovering right behind us, with no concept of personal space as we sat ready to eat and the noise was deafening. Not conducive to the relaxing meal after a days walking that I'd had in mind. It was that bad that we had considered drinking up and leaving before ordering our meal.
The staff were absolutely amazing. Super friendly and really helpful. They were very apologetic and found us a different table.
Food was super tasty. Good quality ingredients, good portion size and good quality produce.
The madness in there was by no means the fault of the staff. We got the impression that they had been struggling with the situation for a while. They did handle it very well though. Despite a rocky start, 10/10 from us. Thank you guys.
R. P.
A brilliant pub!! Great atmosphere with a staff that really care and are attentive and hard working! Chef is only 21 and creating superb food at very reasonable prices - well done all of you!!
G.
There were six of us 3 had fish pie which was excellent plenty to eat and very tasteful. One had a Ceaser chicken salad again it was extremely tasteful and plenty if chicken. Two had Fish and chips best fish and chips in the country.
E. B.
Always a great family pub with good food and friendly smiles from staff and customers alike! Been going here for 10+ years. Always a solid choice
P. H.
Very nice welcome, very busy but still found us a table for two. Excellent choice of Menu and reasonably priced, we had a lovely meal thank you.
J. T.
Warm, welcoming place. Excellent food and good selection of gluten free meals to choose from. Highly recommend.
D. J.
Had an awesome time seeing in the New Year 2023 with the amazing friendly locals. This place was rocking!! Will be back. Plus on an average day the Inn is cosy, welcoming and friendly to all. Thank you.
R. W.
This is a real country pub you will love. Real fires, real ale, a good range of good on their menu to choose from, at sensible prices. There's a warm atmosphere to welcome you and lovely staff. A real treat on a cold winters day to relax. Excellent!
J. B.
Lovely pub , fabulous, and I mean really good service, warm and cosy. Excellent food.
M. O.
Our first visit as only in village for a couple of nights. Nice pub with inside and outside dining areas near to the River Barle.
Best book if you want inside as it's popular, we were lucky and got the last available inside table slot, it was short notice too.
Pretty good menu selection catering to all tastes including vegan and vegetarian options. There is also a specials board at the bar.
As you'd expect from a pub, a great selection of ales, beers, wines, and spirits.
Steak pie for me with chips, minted mushy peas and gravy, wife had fish and chips, again with the minted mushy peas, though there were fresh veg, mash potato options too. Staff were excellent, attentive and friendly.
Overall a great local pub.
P. S.
Great real pub, great selection of beers and ciders. Food and customer service excellent. Thankyou.
K. H.
Good food and choice of ales. Service was quite slow however they were very busy at the time. Burger and pie was great.
J. L.
In Dulverton for the weekend and had lunch here after long walk with our dog. Lovely food - great fish pie - and beautiful old pub to eat it in. Very friendly staff- will be back! And dog friendly too 👍
S. K.
Our 1st time here and what a great pub this is. Food was amazing at a very fair price. A little off the beaten track but worth a visit or 2 if you are in the erea we actually ended up visiting 4 times out of 5 days
J.
Stopped for a nice lunch. Nice old pub with lots of character. Staff very friendly and food was good quality and reasonably priced.
B.
Great food in an idyllic looking town by the water. Has outdoor seating and a range of draft beer. Whatever you do, make sure you get the minted mushy peas. Yum!
T. T.
Good service. Lovely atmosphere. Need to use local pie company. Like chunk pies.
P. S.
Lovely, welcoming, friendly pub. Dogs welcome inside. Excellent menu choice, or just happy to serve you with drinks.
S. S.
Great pub with lovely atmosphere and great location opposite the River Barle . Food is really good. Their fish pie is the best.
N. H.
Called in during a long ride, heavy rain.
Young bar people.
The lad was attentive.
Chicken burger and a side of measley fries...£13.
It wasn't great, no side salad, bread bul like rubber.
Blonde waitress, no interaction, plate dumped, didn't ask if I needed anything.
No, 'is everything OK', plate taken, no, 'was everything OK, can I get you anything else?
A little pretentious with staff that need some basic training.
I don't ask for much, a little friendliness is nice.
R. S.
Excellent location by River Barle. Large garden and plenty of space inside. Parking in town carpark. Nice selection of drinks. Good meals .
C. S.
Nice pub and friendly staff too.
Recommend the fish pie. Best I’ve had in ages.
K. S.
Seemed a nice place staff were Pleasant did not have to wait long for service lot of outdoor seating area personally my food was ok but people I was dining with said their food was very nice just one bad point no parking really

Just had a coffee. We were served by a cheerful waitress.
Lovely atmosphere and right by the river.
P. J.
A very friendly pub in a lovely location, with a good choice of food and drinks.
S. H.
A welcome pint of Exmoor in the outdoor seating area after a stunning walk...literally everyone had a dog with them, so a lovely experience all round 🐶❤🍺
S. R.
Lovely friendly staff and yummy food. Would recommend.
A. M.
Very accommodating dog friendly pub with a lovely atmosphere, helpful staff and set in a beautiful location. A must visit!
P. D.
Nice lunch in a pretty little town/village, next to a bridge over the river. Friendly helpful staff, quite busy when we were there.
J. P.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Delicious lunch ( we had steak and ale pie, fresh veg and chips) good sized portions and well cooked. Perfect after a walk.
S. I. S.
What a great place dog friendly too. Superb meal and fantastic friendly customer service.
We were lucky to get a table on a Wednesday night so advise booking as well worth it.
Can't wait to go back.
S. D. B.
Small menu which is a good thing as you know it's freshly prepared. ate here twice in the week and both times grown ups and kids were very pleased. Good beer and reasonable prices. Small inside so book a table before hand if you want to dine.
F. Q.
We visited twice over the bank holiday weekend and had a lovely meal both times. Very child and dog friendly. Wonderful staff who dealt with a rather odd customer who decided to sit on our table uninvited, and got abusive when asked to leave, in a very professional manner.
We will most definitely be returning and highly recommend to others.
D. N.
Just back from a lovely lunch with our vegan son and partner and 2 dogs. Very warm and welcoming, sat by a lovely log fire and ate some delicious food served by friendly and competent staff. Highly recommended. We all enjoyed it, including our dogs!
j. t.
So welcoming, warm friendly family pub. Great selection of drinks and the food is amazing. A must visit if in Dulverton.

Nice country pub, book a table if you want food, there is limited space

Well Done Guys ☆☆☆☆☆
N. D.
Pleasant pub with a small bu varied lunch time menu. Quick and efficient service
S. A.
My friend and I had lunch in The Bridge Inn yesterday. This way exceeded my expectations. Hail and sleet outside but inside warm and inviting with a wood-burner alight. The staff could not have been friendlier with their welcome and service, and the food was delicious. My friend had fish pie beautifully presented and i chose the Bridge Burger. This wouldn’t be my normal choice but it was a delicious huge juicy (not fatty) burger with a sweet chutney served in a ciabatta roll. The chips were also good. All in all i will return and highly recommend The Bridge Inn. Thank you.
J. G.
Stopped off here for lunch whilist in Dulverton which is a regular visit to both.. Great food lovely friendly staff
K. M.
Lovely food and staff, great atmosphere.
H. M.
This is such a great pub. It's homely in a charming, cosy yet stylish way. Always a warm welcome and good food. Whether you want to sit on a comfy sofa by the log fire, in the conservatory area or outside by the river on a warm day. Always a winning. Great local beers and ciders and good food. Just what you need after a walk along the river barle with the dog, who is welcome by the way!
V. C.
Friendly pub on the river with good pub grub. Also serve tea & coffee all day.
B. J.
Beautiful pub in a beautiful location. Fabulous food, the staff are lovely and the pub quizz is great fun!
H. M.
Had a lovely short break here and were made very welcome. Our room was lovely and due to its position was very quiet. The evening meal and breakfast were very nice. They had a nice selection of beers etc. The garden was lovely with the river running along side was special.
C. V.
Lovely place
Great food
Friendly staff
Will come again
L.
Great pub in the equally wonderful old Exmoor town of Dulverton. Well served ale and the food is consistently good.
S. G.
Popped in for dinner as we were passing through Dulverton on a road trip. Had a lovely curry and they welcomed our two dogs with open arms! Very comfy and friendly pub.
D. J.
Lovely fish pie 😋
H. S.
Popped in for lunch today , We were overwhelmed by the wonderful friendly and calm atmosphere , beautiful roaring log burner and comfortable seating. Nothing was too much trouble even though busy. Had the most incredible fish pie ...just to die for ! Will definitely be back ! Thank you for making my day ☺️ x
L. R.
Very friendly staff, great food and drink in a lovely part of the world.
s. g.
Lovely pub very welcoming, good range of food also with a vegan offer which was great to see. The staff were planning on expanding the vegan menu so I will be recommending the Bridge Inn.
Nice garden set up and you can take your dog with you, so 5 stars from me
S. M.
Great pub almost on the banks of the river, although not so big inside plenty of room outside. Thought the price of drinks is expensive but that might just be me £6 a pint is too much.
D. K.
Food was wonderful, the staff were very helpful
P. P.
Absolutely love this pub. Stunning location and the very best food ever!
S. R.
Dog friendly pub with friendly staff and nice food and drink.
S.
Excellent food, drinks incl ales, and service. Very popular for good reason. Stayed in the area and had two meals here. The ribeye steak was exceptional; probably the best I've had. You're in safe hands here as a couple, family or group
S. C.
Really friendly staff and fantastic food. Well worth a visit.
E. S.
Nice pub but very expensive . Food prices are 3 or 4 quid more expensive than my local and 3 drinks came to £15 .. here in Southend the same 3 drinks comes to £12 and the food is about £11 vs £14 there
N. P.
Warm welcome and felt very safe.
Staff very attentive. Scotch egg wasnt crumbed so sausage meat was deep fried and dark in colour. It tasted lovely but would have been better with crumb.
My partner ordered a brie and bacon baguette but received chicken and bacon but he enjoyed it still. Food was lovely. Overall a good visit and would return and recommend
i. B. (.
Booked a table for a meal for our friends anniversary, we were not disappointed.
The food was quick to come out and piping hot. The service from our young lady was excellent, we were looked after really well.
Definitely a place to try if in the area. Booking due to covid is needed. Would definitely go back again.
All of us enjoyed our meals.
D. W.
Excellent establishment on the river in Dulverton, bit of a nightmare on the parking front as it was Saturday lunchtime, plenty of paid for parking within a few minutes walk.
A St.Austell pub but still had a guest ale on.
Very busy, all inside tables fully booked, outside on a first come basis, no issues with that up to 1300.
Great variety of food, all well cooked & presented.
Once they got going waiting staff very attentive making sure no one went without.
A. B.
Great pub and gorgeous food as always! Absolutely recommended
S. B.
Excellent landlord, very friendly, remembered us from 3 years ago. Also Excellent food. Really lovely pub, can recommend but expect to pay more for your drinks ......
N. T.
Had wonderful food and they are dog friendly eat outside or inside I would go again. And warm welcome buy the staff .
J. B.
Beautiful location, great vibe. Food really good too. Nice outside area. Sep 2021
Come back in June 22, and still great.
Food and drink good, and nice vib.
R. H.
We were so lucky to have a warm and sunny late September day, so we sat outside in the sunshine. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. All the Covid precautions were in place with clear instructions. But best of all, the food was excellent! The scotch egg starter was perfect, and the fish pie was worth all the travelling to get there, delicious! Will definitely go back.
D. B.
Fantastic duck with star anise jus.
Excellent pie with fresh veg. Good choice of beer and wine.
The owners are very keen on keeping everything to the highest standard.
L. S.
Thanks to the guy who accommodated us this evening for our meal (Amano ?) changing our seating as we were not happy eating in the bar area and he sorted it many thanks and thanks to Lauren who served us too 😊😊😊
M. P.
The bridge inn is a lovely river pub and restaurant, I enjoyed a nice cold drink, and a delicious steak dinner. Absolutely worth every penny! Couldn’t recommend enough.
L. M.
Great hospitality, service, food & the all important Cider!!
I. T.
Great beer lovely setting and friendly staff
J. N.
Lovely setting, but they stop SERVING food at 14.30? August and scorching?????🤔🙄
B. C.
Great food, great beer, great staff! Good prices too.
D. B.
Friendly pub with good choice of beers and food
A. W.
Ideal location for a pub/restaurant as it sits right near to the river so on a hot day like we visited it was perfect to cool off. The staff there were spot on in terms of service and communication, one even brought out a water bowl for our dogs who were sat with us.
B. H.
Very dirty seats in our dining area. Our two identical meals of beef pie were served very differently. Just slapped on the plate. Don't expect any finesse here.
A. W.
The Bridge Inn is in a lovely spot by the river in Dulverton. We were staying nearby and went for dinner on one of the hottest days of 2021. A table outside was free (more later) and we sat and were attended to immediately. Good start. Ordered drinks, they were delivered and we had to pay. They have had people scarpering apparently. Fair enough. We ordered dinner and that too arrived in good time. It was excellent food, good portions, well cooked and presented and delcious. We had to pay for that immediately too. Sadly then, things fell apart. We sat with empty plates and glasses for ages. Serving staff came and went but nobody approached us until we got up. They one of the waiting staff came over and asked if we wanted anything else. Here's the rub. I have been a salesman all my life. I have the perverse streak that I need to be sold to. If someone had come to us in a timely fashion and asked if we wanted pudding or another drink we might have done. As it stands we have no idea if the Bridge even serves desserts. Despite this we tried to go back a couple of days later. No tables were free. Can we wait, we asked? We were told that we could not wait on the pub premises but had to sit by the river. We were warned that it was a "first come first serve basis". Not good enough, we might have never got a table. Ever heard of bleepers? We enjoyed what we had, the staff were pleasant, the setting is great but this business managed to extract about 35% of what we could have paid them which, especially after the lack of trade during Covid, is frankly amazing.
M. M.
Great pub! Amazing staff, lovely ales, excellent location. This place makes you feel like a human again after the awful last year. That’s why we go to a pub! Highly recommend
A. E.
Pheasant burgers!!! Welcoming, cosy and more special than " pub grub", but the same type of price. If we ever came back this way, we'd come back.
S. P.
Great little gem & very reasonable.
p.
Lovely pub with a picturesque view. 🌟 The food was amazing. The best and most delectable, 😋so darn good looking, 🍔 chicken burger I've ever eaten. 👍👍👍👍Staff were helpful and kind. Highly recommend. ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ
L. D.
Great pub with a fairly extensive menu which is fairly priced. Service and food were excellent
K. J.
Lovely staff, gorgeous food, amazing setting. Totally recommend a visit.
L. O.
Only had a drink but a very pleasant experience. Prices in line with other pubs at present. The staff were amazingly friendly and attentive and the pub is lovely.
J. M.
Best ploughman's I've had in many a year, beautiful ham, lovely cheddar and a good mix of pickles. My partner had the baggutte which was of excellent quality and well filled, will be back if in the area again.
B. S.
Lovely little pub serving great food. We sat outside and were well looked after. Views of the river and the bridge are quite charming.
B. H.
Lovely staff, excellent food, beautiful pub lovely location, will go again when at dulverton
M.
Visited here back in 2019. Really nice location with seating out the front looking onto the river. Food and beer is decent too.
Only reason i'm not giving 5 stars is because a female member of staff would not serve me a drink 20 minutes before close saying "no more service" 5 minutes later a local guy walks in and she serves him! Very rude!
P. T.
Staff were great. Sadly the food was very poor, re-heated, overcooked. Shame we got the Italian night.
G. K.
Great food and beer, as always. Can't fault the service, friendly and efficient, nor the location, it's ideal.
m. r.
Fantastic place for a beer.
Lovely friendly atmosphere.
We arrived in dulverton on a Sunday and enjoyed this place so much, we went back with our dog "stan" every evening.
Cannot recommend this place enough.
If your in the area this is a great refreshment stop.
t. b.
Not able to book a table to eat for 3 days.. but a lot of restaurants and pubs saying similar in North Devon area.. Not great. But this pub was a lovely place to sit outside and have a drink.
M. C.
Went for a meal on our last night I had the fish pie which was piping hot and full of fish my husband had the steak which was cooked to perfection
A. H.
Lovely meal. Warm and cosy village pub. Would easily have been 5 stars but the mother's salad was drenched in dressing and the wife's pie had an overly strong lemon flavour. The rest of the family polished off their meals. Good selection of cask and craft ales behind the bar.
B. M. -. S.
Great Inn to visit after a long day driving and visiting other areas. The pies were really nice and the mash tasted great too. Burger selection had a great variety to choose from. The building and outside was tidy and clean with a number of areas to sit and blankets provided. Dogs and kids are more than welcome along with muddy boots.
L. B.
Absolutely stunning, one of the best West Country pubs I have ever been in. Such an amazing selection of Ales, Ciders, Beers, Wines.
And the food is amazing! The bridge burger is a culinary delight!
Definately worth a visit should you find yourself in our wonderful town.
T. w.
Visited here for the 1st time since it's changed hands to a young aspiring couple. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We shared our evening with friends and my daughter even had time to do a Henna drawing on her friends hand whilst chatting, with much interest! The meal was lovely, I had goats cheese salad with roasted veg ...fresh,zingy, perfect. My friend and daughter opted for the Bridge burger ( thoroughly enjoyed) and daughter the duck burger ( she was a little disappointed in so far it didn't do it justice, the duck was a bit tough and not defining in taste of duck) that said the meal was eaten , lovely atmosphere friendly staff. Well done Bridge Inn...you're doing great!!
R. O.
Great pub good friendly staff
J. C.
Absolutely lovely pub with great food. Staff are efficient and friendly and very thoughtful. Best to reserve a table on Saturday nights. Great place to take your dog if well behaved as they will be in great company.
J. M.
Always love going here. The young, local staff are enthusiastic and caring and we've never had a bad meal in five years. Our regular choice for our wedding anniversary.
G.
Amazing pub, can’t highly enough. Food was incredible had the game board which was delicious. Pub is under new management, liz and Andy are lovely! Great pub, food in a gorgeous setting. See you guys soon!!!
C. G.
Amazing food, dog friendly, lovely atmosphere - came for lunch and had the best ploughmans! The whole family loved it - would highly recommend!
A. N.
A fabulous meal amongst beautiful views of Exmoor.
C. R.
Good selection of local ales and cider, food always excellent, relaxed comfy pub with friendly staff. Expect as many dogs as people.
S. W.
Really lovely, cosy pub for a cold January afternoon. Warm welcome and a great choice of food - classics, burgers, salads, sandwiches, the lot! Incredibly speedy service and amazing views of Dulverton, we'll definitely be back!
S. S.
Lovely staff, excellent service and great food in a very pleasing environment.
a. h.
Visited today, staff were super helpful and friendly. I can strongly recommend the chicken and bacon pie with minted mushy peas! Would definitely visit here again. Thank you.
G. M.
Good food, friendly service and seating outside in the sunshine. A very pleasant visit before a walk in the beautiful surrounding countryside.
A. W.
Nice food, really friendly and welcoming staff. It was lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by (including loads of campervans going to the local campsite!)
J. C.
Lovely lunch at the Bridge Inn. Excellent food and lovely staff. Dog friendly so will visit again
R. H.
2 visits in last few days. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and friendly service. Definitely recommend.
L. S.
Absolute gem of a pub, in a beautiful location with the perfect menu - food was so delicious we stayed for lunch and dinner!
Lovely landlord who makes all his customers feel welcome, can’t wait for my next visit!
F. P.
Very good customer service from the lovely friendly staff. I arrived wanting to eat and they didn't have a table. I sat on the comfy sofas and very soon they came to tell me thete was a table.
The food was ok but the service was very good. (I'd called at another pub in the next village where the bar staff had totally ignored me and continued chatting to a local sitting at the bar, so this pub definitely outshone on customer service and customer satisfaction.
S. L.
Really enjoyed our Lunch here today, Good Pub food, Friendly attentive staff even at busy times, can't fault it. Recommend the Pies. Full marks guys, Thank you!
R. B.
Had dinner here 3 nights of the 5 that we stayed in Dulverton. Excellent food with vegetarian options and gluten free options. The choice of drinks was also very good and the staff made us feel very welcome.
J. T.
Very friendly staff and all the food was delicious. Beer choice was excellent and portion sizes perfect. Homely pub with modern tastes.
N. S.
Service was good from the lovely young people working here. My wife really enjoyed her meal but I made a less good choice with the forager's pie which was a bit dull and stodgy. These things happen and I'd still recommend this as a place to eat in Dulverton - prices reasonable and a nice atmosphere in the bar area. Dulverton is lovely too.
J. Y.
Pies are fabulous!!! And great service too xxx
B. D.
Had a delicious meal in lovely surroundings.
I. C.
Friendly and welcoming pub with a lovely atmosphere. Log fires were welcome on a windy day.
A. H.
What a food. The service was super fast the food was fast. The food was delicious. If you pay in London for what we had you would probably got only starter. Price, food, service all excellent. Dog friendly too :) Thank you.
M. T.

Excellent Sausages & Mash
A definite must if you like your food - sensible to book a table if wanting to be in doors
s. s.
Very well organised seating outside in line with lockdown rules. Very helpful, friendly staff. Excellent beer and food. A very enjoyable experience eating here
M. W.
Good Beer, fantastic scotch egg. Sunny garden in a tranquil setting.
J. H.
Lovely tasty food, very hot, staff friendly. Lack of space makes the experience less favourable - felt squashed up a corner with other guests crowding round the bar.
C. K.
Nice lunch here by the river.
T. A.
The food is spot on. A lovely pub in a lovely village with friendly staff. Dog friendly a nice place to be.
S. C.
Great service, good food
k. S.
Absolutely amazing. Food really hot, which was good as we were outside as 1st may and cant eat in till 17th may. Wonderful 👍
S. G.
Love the place! Great food and friendly staff. Not as cramped as it was pre covid which is good!
S. H.
A really nice atmosphere lovely food and very polite and friendly staff. A real fire burning on a cold damp evening, what more could you ask for? Oh of course good beer, well job done.

P. J.

D. H.

.
J. J.
Our family love the bridge, we have been visiting for years. The food is great. It is brilliant for children as the ducks are a short walk away. So glad they now have more tables.
D. F.
Have been several times before and as usual, great place, great food, lovely staff, very good service, would highly recommend. Would have given 5 stars if the house wine was more affordable!!
M. H.
Just spent a week in Dulverton and this pub is just what was needed after a day out, excellent beer and good quality food
