Reviews of The Hyde Park
G. E.
Really great food. It took a little while to arrive but that was to be expected as it was full to capacity! The staff did mention there could be a 40 minute wait but it arrived on time. Generous portions and very tasty. The Doom Bar ale was perfect. Possibly the best pint of it Ive had anywhere. The inside and outside (and toilets) of the building are covered with vintage and collectable advertising memorabilia. Very interesting and also distracting when eating! A great experience. Well worth checking out.

Went for a lunch with 7 friends. The service was friendly. It was a shame that, although there are lots to choose from for a lunch much of it wasn't there due to delivery options. However was did come was lovely. I ordered a bacon, chicken and brie flatbread and it was stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lunch did take a while but they wanted us to have it all together as a lunch which I understood. Really enjoyed it.

This was our first visit here and we were very impressed. The decor and memorabilia were a fantastic positive talking point for us.
The manager and the staff were all very friendly, knowledgable and professional and the food we had was fantastic, plentiful, tasty and very reasonably priced. I have no hesitation in recommending The Hyde Park and we will definitely return on our next visit to Plymouth
L. E.
Best boozer in Plymouth by a mile. How could this place not put a smile on your face? Like stepping onto a film set in a time where pubs were non-generic drinking chains. This place is well cared for by people who understand what a unique place they're for on their hands. I want to move nearby just so it's my local.
S. P.
Great night out with great food in an interesting setting. Reasonable prices and excellent service on a busy Friday night. Booking recommended.
G. S.
I booked afternoon tea for a group of us on recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. We were greeted on arrival by happy, smiling faces and had a great experience from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, drinks throughout were brought to our table. The food was plentiful and delicious and extremely good value for money. Everyone in my party were delighted. Thank you to the whole team for making us feel so welcome. We'll be back!

My partner and I stumbled across this place walking through Plymouth, it's just so cool, lovely staff and atmosphere, fast service, gorgeous premises outside and inside, and the best ladies bathroom with an immense amount of cosmetics when you need a refresh, food and wine were awesome, I'm just so impressed ! If I could've stayed there all day I would have, if i lived in Plymouth I'd probably be there every day. We'll be back 😃
B. B.
Loved this place. We came here having dropped our son off at his new digs for his second uni year. This place was local to him. The decor / interior is amazing, brought back some memories of some great old iconic brands. Food was good as was the drinks. Pint of chips was over priced for what it was but very tasty. Will definitely go back here when we’re down in Plymouth next.
S. G.
Food is good, however furnishings in need of a update, staff ready friendly and service is good. Lightbulbs are all orange so if you are there for a event /party photo's look awful.

I absolutely love this Pub. Steve plays the best music, I love the old TV adverts and cartoons playing, love the decor, the signs and the whole vibrant atmosphere and love the food. Best place ever. When they did the Christmas Day lunches they were head and shoulders above the rest. I can't recommend this Pub enough. Cosy yet vibrant they've got it all.
C. W.
The Hyde Park has become my favourite pub for meeting with friends and bringing my dog too! The staff are always welcoming and love animals which is always a bonus. The atmosphere is always pleasant, the decor is lovely and the variety of shows on the television is a trip down memory lane!
r. w.
Honestly the atmosphere is pretty great. My wife is American and she appreciates a traditional English pub. This is pretty dam close. The beer is good, the staff are great, the food is as good as they can do with the ingredients they use. Ionly say this because it tastes like really well cooked cheap food. Burger patties are a bit rough. The deck area is also pretty good although stuck in the middle of a busy traffic area, oddly this adds to its charm. It feels like you are sitting in a remnant of a bygone era.
We seem to visit every time my wife gets her hair done just down the road. I kinda demand it lol.
m.
My go to pub for good food and a pint.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
The food is well presented,
Never had a issue.
It’s usually busy and sometimes don’t get a table but one can be booked.
A. E.
Nice atmosphere and food, a good selection of beers. We went early evening on an Argyle match day and the food took 1 hour and 10mins to arrive. I would recommend arriving at about 5pm and ordering right away to avoid a long delay. The pub was rammed.
C. B.
Fantastic value we had a group prosecco lunch. Waiter and staff fantastic and so friendly and accommodating. The only down side hard to get through on the phone during the day to book and pay deposit.
D. H.
I love this place. The fixtures and fittings are the best you'll see anywhere and the old clips of films and TV shows including old adverts take you right back. good beer good food good staff. Whenever you're in plymouth you got to visit here. Champion 🤗
P. H. P.
An old favourite for Plymothians, located at one end of Mutley Plain on its own island. The inside decor is spectacular with something to grab your attention everywhere you look - even the ceilings!
The menu is quite extensive and varied, reasonably priced and good quality.
Lots of nooks and crannies where you could sit with your dog and read my book "Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay" by Steve Pick available on Amazon kindle!
L. S.
Great food well priced, good selection of drinks. Brilliant atmosphere. Worth booking a table if you intend to eat and stay a while as it's very popular.
D. S.
Such a fabulous pub. Love the illuminated signs all around the place. Takes you into memorabilia world.
The food, beer and team are excellent too
N. M.
Lovely looking pub, with a surprisingly big beer garden, given its on a roundabout! Very friendly staff. Beer tasted a bit funny and they poured a new pint, no questions asked.
G. P.
Best thing about this pub is the range of drinks on offer and the cool vibes inside. All the coasters/signs on the ceiling adds to the atmo. Decent pub food.
A. A.
It was lovely to be back at the Hyde Park since our move home to Germany.
Before we were at least twice a week there
Absolutely stunning food as always
J. A.
Went Saturday lunchtime for a family birthday meal. Exceptionally well-staffed with friendly and efficient people. Meal fantastic, atmosphere and decor great, prices reasonable. A brilliantly run business.
T. S. (.
Visited for the first time yesterday 20/12/2022.
Amazing food.. festive pie was to die for , everything hot and tasty,
Great service, definitely be back x
C. S.
Always a nice atmosphere and not too busy on a week night. Festive pies were on offer and tasted very nice.
B.
A decent venue that gets very busy. The food is ok nothing special. Use this as a pint stop or a greased up meal.
C. W.
Very unique pub, you won't get bored as you can look around at all the different posters and signs for hours.
S. J.
Myself and four friends visited on the afternoon of Dec 20th 2022 for Afternoon T. Could not fault, excellent service from the staff, fabulous food from the Sandwiches to the desserts, not forgetting the prosecco.
D. P.
Great place to eat and socialise. Staff are friendly but short of staff I would say. Never enough staff behind the bar. There should be a queue for food but everyone is in the same queue.
I feel it could do with a deep clean especially around the ladies toilets .quiet a bit of dust around skirting boards and under tables . Lots of memorabilia around the place which is great to look at but again I need of a regular clean. Lovely food.
R. R. A.
Nice place to grab some drinks and hang out with friends sometimes. I haven’t had dinner there but would like to try some day
J. S.
What a fabulous find, a busy pub that still felt comfortable, friendly staff, nicely kept ales and a massive selection of gins amongst other spirits. The entire pub is like a museum, almost every inch of wall space holds memorabilia of automotive and brewing industries, amongst other random historical items. There's a great food menu on offer, serving until late and the quality is there too......and to top it all off, they're dog friendly. Not much outdoor seating, but as they are on a traffic island that's a given, as is no attached parking but there is plenty close by so no problem there. Will happily recommend and visit again. 🍻
D. T.
Absolutely lovely mother's Day afternoon tea. Polite staff and quirky venue. Could not fault the service or food, and the Tea was incredible
G. B.
First time, in the hyde park pub . Fantastic service breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had, walking into the building it's like going back in time amazing. You must to and see for yourself. Well done to everyone I will be back.
r. m.
Great pub, friendly helpful staff, good food which is served until 11pm.Ham egg,2eggs and chips at 10.30pm,ideal.Plus a lovely Hot cup of coffee.Has our vote .
C. T.
A lovely pub. Amazing gin selection, lovely food and comfortable seating. Good clean toilets and friendly staff.
Lovely day spent catching up with a friend.
T. S.
Had a great afternoon with my family lovely afternoon tea lots to eat yummy also done the gin package great value for money very good service
G. P.
Been coming in here from time to time over the years since it was first re-opened, circa 2014 or so. A lovely, cosy interior with a very nostalgic feel to the pub re the decor, old TV clips footage and all the pictures and advertising boards of products of yesteryear of course. Only downside was their not serving food past 9pm (!) on a Thursday night on this occasion (I'm sure they used to do so beyond that time not so long ago!) ...whereas the "Mannamead" Wetherspoons just down the road serve food up until 11pm in the week! We were also told there was no WiFi password available as the pub don't have WiFi (I thought all pubs had this now very basic facility!), albeit which I took with a pinch of salt!!
D. C.
Visited for afternoon drinks. Bar Service very good. Gosia is very professional and personable.
However the Peroni I ordered tasted sour......I did get a replacement Heineken, still tasted a bit funny.....Korev was better
E.
The bartender lewis was very welcoming and gave great service. Lovely atmosphere.
D. J.
The family went after my mother in law's funeral and we found it was cosy lovely staff friendly food was great
S. R.
Really loved the place. It has awesome atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. I totally recommend it 🤩
D. C.
We had a great time here on bank holiday Monday. Our food was lovely and the atmosphere was pleasant. The only two downsides were the slow-ish service despite the place not being packed, and that they had run out of my favourite dessert! (The 'Death by Dairy Milk' is amazing just FYI.
D. G.
We have come back 3 times in 6 weeks amazing service food very reasonable prices for top quality products. Made to feel like we are the only customers in the premises. Want to give a server called jasper a shout out, went above and beyond to accommodate us. Amazing, this guy will go far in any customer service industry. We will be back.
S. I.
Always solid, not as good as it used to be but still very good. Massive drink selection though and always busy
b. n.
Food is abit wierd stuff not good for somone basic like me but lovely place amazing drinks just shame foods abit to snazzy for some poeple
R. C.
Still a great pub after all these years ❤️ The staff are fantastic, excellent choice of drinks and the food is yummy. The decor is fun too 😎 Worth the time, if you find yourself on Mutley Planet 🤠
N. S.
Busy, but managed to get a table, food was tasty and reasonably priced and didn't have to wait too long for food to come out.
G. E.
Great selection of beers and gins. And we've not even tried the upstairs gin bar! Fantastic display of old advertising signs too. Well worth a visit.
M. H.
Really good food, good atmosphere, best of all it's dog friendly.
S.
The food quality has gone down this year it's not as good as it used to be, drinks are reasonably priced though.
G. H.
Good food, good service and great staff, can't really go wrong
T. W.
Wonderful ambience and great service - excellent spread for a private buffet many thanks
C. K.
Love the Gin afternoon tea here.
The place is always buzzing with wide variety of drinks and food.
Always friendly and always find a space for us!
Plenty of staff behind such a tiny bar! Never have to wait long.
k. O.
Loved the eclectic collection of old advertising signs. Well worth a visit for a trip down memory lane
D.
Was taken here today by a friend for a birthday lunch. Was lovely. Had the cooked breakfast, which was really nice and well presented. Took a while to arrive, but it was busy, so understandable. Staff were pleasant and helpful….only downfall was the door to the rear beer garden doesn’t have a spring hinge to close it when lazy customers (and staff) leave it open. It allows an ice cold breeze to sweep through the pub, which isn’t nice when it’s blowing in your face or across your back. I would’ve given a 5* rating otherwise!
R.
I took my son for his first pint to celebrate his 18th birthday on Monday, ended up having a delicious feast and staying for the whole afternoon!!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, yummy food and best of all good to see dogs welcome!!
J. P.
The staff, food, ambiance and distancing were all excellent. We had a fabulous experience.
D. H.
Very friendly staff, good service and the food looked good. (We weren't eating).
Rather pricey beers, but it's not often I go drinking in large cities!
T. N.
Good food and very staff. Would recommend to anyone I know.
A. B.
Lovely fry up sausages are awesome please don’t change them, this place has a really unique feel to it wether a cup of tea or for there variety of gins also has a great wheat beer with a slice of orange 🍊 👌🏼
R. W.
Really lovely evening, friendly & polite staff, ready to assist. Great ambience
H. J.
Lovely food and atmosphere - would definitely recommend
T. M.
Great place,loved all the memorabilia.
D. B.
A belated birthday treat with my wonderful friend, we enjoyed a gin afternoon tea and it was fantastic. The food was plentiful, service was excellent. The staff were helpful, attentive and the gin flowed. An amazing afternoon in a lovely setting. We will be back xx
J. P.
Good food, good service nice cosy pub.
J. B.
What a lovely comfortable interior this pub has. There must be hundreds, if not a thousand, genuine old advertisements and illuminated signs filling almost the entire wallspace of this pub. The food is pretty decent too and the staff will guide you to the toilet if you can't find it in amongst all the signage.
D. W.
Need to urgently update their menu as about 1/3 of the items were no longer offered - don't not expect any roast meats or roast potatoes (do they not have an oven?).
Also got the some of the drinks order wrong.
To be fair, the food we did get was very nice, couldn't fault that. Just a pity that having chosen this venue on the strength of it's varied menu, we found this not to be the case, causing an issue for one of our party with special dietary requirements.
P. P.
Quiet dinnertime meal out for the wife and I. Food was okay, not a bad choice of options. Staff were spot on. Service really good. Downside was the decor; very dated and tired looking. Probably very clean, but just "looked" like it wasn't. Popular location, nice building, just sort the interior appearance.
M. F.
one of the best pubs I've ever been, awesome in all aspects, highly recommended, if you're a pub person travelling to Plymouth this is a stop you will always remember
H. P.
Travelled down to see our daughter and husband, booked a table, very efficient service calling me back to confirm. I later added two more people to join us. The food, staff, service was second to none. Thank You Hyde Park, see you when we are visiting again x
P. S.
In my opinion this is the BEST Pub in Plymouth..... infact, the best venue for a chilling drink with or without food at any time of the day.......
S. R.
This is a fabulous place great food I would have liked to bring it home with me
S. D.
Throughly enjoyed afternoon tea and gin.
Lovely staff serving .
B. M.
Classic pub. Real effort and taste gone into the decor, retro signs galore!
Food fantastic
Beer cold
Friendly staff, great service.
K. O.
Food was fine, just a little slow and not all meals came out at same time ,so some people had nearly ate there meals before other's had got there's. But well priced food.
M. R.
Nice big interesting pub. Food OK.
M. L.
The internal decoration is phenomenal, it has to be seen to believed. It's full if advertising signs from the past. Has to be seen. Plus the food and service is top notch. Try the Hyde Park stack, delicious. Wish there was 6 stars 👍
V. L.
Nice food ...good service .Thank you a good birthday lunch.
W. J.
Great atmosphere and love their attention to detail with the staff uniforms and decor of the pub.
Not only that their food is fantastic too!
E. H.
Great pub, very interesting decor but slightly expensive. Good food but can get super busy so make sure you book well in advance to gurantee a table.
S.
Nice atmosphere and good food for a pub.
Too many separate menus for my liking but had lots of options
D. K.
My son booked a table for 10 off us. We Went in for a birthday breakfast for my granddaughter. Rather dissapointed at the service as several orders had items missing. Especially the eggs . The cup that the tea was served in had a crack right down the side . After complaining.they changed it for another.
Not sure if I would recommend it after what happened.
A. B.
Had our works Christmas party last night. Was great service lovely food and drink. First time iv been to the place will definitely be back. Merry Christmas to you all thanks from tamar Coaches
S. B.
Good pub with some interesting features and signage from a previous era. Gluten free beer available and attentive and knowledgeable staff.
C. G.
We love the Hyde Park ... the place is always busy (sometimes too busy) but we can forgive that .... and from outside, the lighting and the internal ambience always invite you in! Then depending on your company it is always hard to leave
c. h.
Really good burgers and awesome beers. Good atmosphere.
N. g.
I like the quirkiness of this pub. Very reasonable prices, I always find something nice to eat and the staff are very friendly.
R. B.
Lovely food, nice staff
R. G.
We waited for 20 minutes for a waitress to order drinks, and only ordered them then because I went to ask her. The meal took a further three quarters of an hour for food even though they weren't that busy, and then the meal wasn't that great with tough meat and potatoes that were kept for too long before being served. The waitresses we're pleasant but need to pay attention to customers waiting.
t. a.
Lovely old fashion pub staff so friendly and the beer is great
A. W.
Very cool and quirky pub. It’s a proper pub but is totally family friendly. It’s a great place to meet friends, chat and drink or eat. It never gets rowdy or raucous.
The food is decent, the breakfasts are really good though.
S. R.
Great food and some decent beers. Slow service at the bar though, at one point there were six bat staff and two customers waiting. The staff seemed to be happy chatting amongst themselves while we waited. Still one of the best pubs on Mutley.
D. D.
Bit of a mixed bag on this one. I had a lovely roast there are just before Christmas and I could not fault the meal at all. Recently went back and had another roast dinner and the food was quite bland compared to my last visit and the coffee I bought what was burnt so was incredibly bitter and effectively ruined. However they did replace it with a pot of tea free of charge which was very nice of them. Lovely surroundings though with a nice atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
P. S.
What can I say but everything positive. Been visiting this pub since my wife and I moved into the area. Great to say this is my local. Atmosphere great Customer service great. FOOD GREAT. Quantity and quality of food absolutely excellent . My wife and I were only there yesterday evening and had a great, relaxed, and full bellied time. We'll be back definitely. No drunken students spewing up in sight. Wetherspoons are welcome to them. Keep up the good work guys
R. B.
Traditional pub with a varied menu and pub tapas served by the pint/half-pint. Does get busy in the evening's so is worth booking a table for food.
A. C.
Served by a myriad of folk, they were all very polite and helpful! Enjoyed the food, enjoyed the decoration and the ambience. We all had a great time. Thank you to all the staff :)
C. H.
Highly recommended! Myself and two friends went to the Hyde Park today for the gin afternoon tea. Service and food were faultless. The young females who served us throughout our visit were so friendly, attentive and welcoming. Felt totally safe in the upstairs tea room with socially distanced tables. Will definitely be returning. Thank you xx
K. T.
Great beer, great atmosphere, and the signs all around must be worth a fortune 😀
N.
Lovely cosy friendly pub serving delicious pub grub. Beautiful out side seating. Unique and quirky decor. Eclectic and very welcoming. My fabulous local
N. E.
Food smelt delicious great friendly service drinks went down very nicely
K. H.
Everything we go to the Hyde Park we get a warm welcome. Love the decor and atmosphere. Food and drink excellent. Hubby loves his double diamond
J. D.
Very Clean intetesting place. Excellent food good value for money.
J. F.
I brought a group of thirteen ladies here today for the Gin Tasting. It was absolutely terrific. Great value for money. Alan and he's staff made us all welcome. Some of the ladies are elderly and walk with sticks but nothing was too much trouble.
Annie told us all about the gins we were tasting and what mixer went with what. She was a real Gem patiently explaining it all for those of us a little on the deaf side!!!
The food was delicious. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely be returning.
D.
Very cosy atmosphere, huge burgers
B. B.
Brilliant had the gin bar rented out for a birthday party. Excellent service best pub in all of the Mutley strip.
K. H.
Very friendly staff nice place beer garden. Both table service and bar service.
C. B.
Went here with friends on a midweek day nice selection of beers, Great choice of main meals , Pudding menu has some good desserts on.. Staff are superb. and friendly.
C. B.
Nice atmosphere with very polite and friendly staff.
M. F.
Love this pub. It has old signs everywhere that light up. The interior is Amazing breathtaking.
I had a full English breakfast it was lovely highly recommend.
They had a large food menu
Lots of main dishes and snacks.
Its upper class..
The lady toilets had lots of toiletries there perfumes deodorants etc.
Has upstairs where you can hire for venues..
m. o.
One of my favourite places love it here good service friendly staff
M. H.
I like it here! Big pub but made to feel cozy due to 2 sides and lots of paraphernalia on the walls. Decent place.
D. S.
This is my Local.
Awesome interior.
If you like good food, good beer and great Atmosphere.
This is the place to go.
S. W.
This was my first visit.. very friendly staff, and atmosphere, service very good. Nothing was to much trouble. Food very very good. Definitely worth a visit..we will be going again
H. N.
Good food, good service. The interior decorations are really unique. All round great experience
M. C.
Delicious afternoon tea. Price was really good! Booked again 😋
M.
Staff friendly, manager a bit cold but all in all a fantastic place.
M. M.
A great pub, great range of drinks and nice atmosphere but none of these can justify the very high pricing! I walked two hundred yards down the road and saved over a pound on the same pint!! Maybe not a problem for the young. Professional target audience but much to rich for me. Shame.
L. H.
Stopped in for lunch during an afternoon walk. Had to provide contact details at the entrance and then were shown to a table outside (as per our request). One way system is now in place, so you had to exit the pub and go back in the main entrance to go to the bar. Ordered salads which were very filling and very nice. Would recommend.
L. G.
Can't fault this place.
Staff are really good, service is good.
I've been here for dinner in a Saturday night when it was packed and the food was all cooked well and arrived in a really good time. A really decent menu selection.
Sunday lunch same again.
Be it a larger group or just with the boyff, it's always been good.
It's not a fancy place, it doesn't claim to be.
I like what I get here and it is a solid favourite.
M. G.
Sat in the back garden, which was noisy but still pleasant. Well organised in terms of social distancing. Great selection of beers. Food menu is very large and service is fast, the only thing holding it back is food quality which is decent but not great. Would visit again.
M. M.
Great menu, value for money and very well cooked. Friendly and courteous staff. Dogs welcome also.
A. A.
Good selection of drinks, friendly staff and always popular with diners.
The experience is let down by the slow bar service. The issue is compounded as they always have lots of staff behind the bar that aren’t serving drinks, so the slowness is even more frustrating.
Plus, my pet hate is when the people serving expect the customer to know and be fair on who’s next to be served. When did this stop being the job of observant and well trained bar staff?
B. P.
Good pub in the middle a busy junction. It has many retro signs on the walls and plays old movies the screens around the place.
Most of the pumps have the old covers, they even sell double diamond, but it certainly isn't the DD which was so popular in the 70s.
Worth a visit for the novelty value but be aware it does get very busy.
B. M.
Cool pub. Much better than I remember from 30 odd years ago.
G. J.
Lovely dog friendly pub that serves great food.
L. W.
Very much enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Didn't have any real expectations but enjoyed my meal here in a timely fashion. Also has a ridiculously large gin menu (over 400 I believe) for those interested.
D. M.
On a visit to Plymouth to see my daughter, we didn't book a table in the pub, however the staff couldn't be more accomodating we only wanted a coffee,we. Stayed for a snack and a drink the staff were excellent and catered to our needs and were very attentive their covid process was exemplary and comforting a pub I will certainly visit the next time i am in Plymouth.
B. R.
Really nice pub which looks great, good service and tasty food (only lacking on the chips)
N. T.
I had an evening meal with my family on Sunday 16th September. The food was quickly served and piping hot. Really good quality and the service was also very good. Highly recommended . It is a really quirky pub and is very different from your run of the mill pub!
K. D.
The food was delicious with generous portions. I felt the staff needed a little more training in communication and service but on balance it didnt detract from the overall experience
v. f.
Popped in on a whim, found us a table no problems, track & trace, everything cleaned after people left & staff 100% spot on. Food was great as always. Well-done to all at Hyde Park pub in difficult times for all. ♥️
N. W.
Great breakfast. Service was a bit slow but we were not in a rush so suited us. Sat in the outside area and although this is on the main road through Mutley it is not too noisy.
A. F.
We visited the Hyde Park quite a few times, the service and quality of food is always great. Good selection of beers and ales. However, on our last visit our main meals were disappointing, the meat was overcooked and dry and barely any sauce on the hunters chicken.
J. B.
This is a very interesting pub! Lots of old plaques, pictures and signage on the walls and old TV shows and adverts playing on the TV's.
They have a selection of drinks very different from your standard (although they still do the 'standard') such as Double Diamond (remember the advert?). There is also a very large selection of Gin in quieter upstairs bar.
The food has been carefully chosen and includes old favourites such as bangers and mash.
Well worth a visit!
D. D.
Fabulously eccentric... loved it 🍹
C. B.
Amazing food, great drinks and better prices. The decor is great and always super friendly staff. Downside is lack of nearby parking, but that's not an issue if you are drinking :)
D. C.
Great place. Excellent service, plenty of outside space.
P. O.
Had an amazing evening we booked a table for eight. The service from staff was excellent considering it was very busy. Our food was perfection all of us enjoyed every morsel thank you all at Hyde Park such an enjoyable evening .
P.
Fab place. Great location. Strange but interesting layout/decor. Food is varied, drink selection very good. Loads of tables.
P. M.
Any pub that still serves Double Diamond on tap is OK in my book... Great Deccor to look at when 'er indoors' is rabbiting on. .. Great food.
M. W.
Great pub, lovely staff. Food good and reasonably priced. Really good visit.
P. L.
Good food and adult atmosphere. Jail ale is brilliant but other brews are available. Can't wait for the gin bar to open back up. 👍
A. T.
Great food and lovely atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Definitely go again.
C. M.
Myself and a couple of friends pop in for a couple of good beers, a pint of pork scratchings. Our wives go for the many many different Gins. It's very nice, if a little expensive. Some stricked rules though, so careful what you wear and how many are in your group, anything over 4 or 5 men, can see you turned away.
A. J. S.
Had a roast here and almost everything was honey glazed. Very confusing. Staff are lovely though and the toilets have dry shampoo in them so that's great.
C. L.
I had a good experience here, very pretty and homely pub. Never thought I'd have a beer that looked posh but you can get one here
P. M.
My favourite pub, best pub food proper thick cut chips. Has lots of character old signs on the walls. It's in the middle of a roundabout, this adds to its charm. Lovely staff. Worth a visit or two.
D. B.
Bog standard pub food and really well done, nothing wrong with that. I have tried a few things on the menu but keep coming back to the gammon, delicious. Then there is the decor, fantastic blast from the past with old emblems and adverts from drinks to cars, the old adverts and film clips on the TV completes the atmosphere. Then there is the icing on the cake, great selection of beers. There were four IPA's on when I went las and I love IPA. They also do Double Diamond and as it takes me back to my youth I can never say no, fantastic pub, one of the best in the country and I have traveled.
D. S.
Amazing food and value for money. Area for the tables is very packed. If busy very loud. Food is brilliant, service is excellent. Well worth a visit.
M. K.
Friendly staff, traditional pub atmosphere, family-friendly, quick service, great drinks, and excellent pub cuisine. If you're looking for something a little different, you can visit their Gin Bar upstairs for a wide range of mixed drinks.
N. B.
Very cosy with great interior decor, and really great food.
Love it here.
E. H.
Food was nice when it arrived- one of our parties meals was missed off and extras we ordered didn't arrive.
J. A.
Good selection of ales and love the retro signs. They also run vintage TV shows in the background that took me back to my youth.
F. D. L. V.
Little bit disappointed in the manner from the Irish front of house , not very welcoming .
Always used to go for the ploughman's as the ham and cheese used to be fantastic but now a few pieces of rubber cheese that looked like it had been out in the heat to long and two pieces of very small meet .
Very dispointing and such a shame because it was amazing
R. R.
Nice place and friendly staff, very good value
d. r.
Great friendly bar. Food is really good, I haven’t lived in Plymouth for 5 years and this bar is still one of the main reasons I go back.
Best chips I’ve ever had and ALWAYS order the nachos!
Dropped it one star because occasionally it’s impossible to get a table in there and there isn’t really anywhere to stand.
M. M.
Amazing service and really good food.
i. C.
A busy pub at the top of MP on the roundabout
D. P.
Amazing pub, very chilled atmosphere, decor unique, the food is outstanding and staff extremely welcoming and helpful
S. G.
The Hyde Park Pub .an atmospheric pub full of ambience and friendly staff with personal service !
The menu offers a lighter option or a full plate of what you fancy !
Comfortable seating downstairs the Hyde Park pub ,comes also with an upstairs venue for parties or get togethers !
Car parking is close by .The pub is situated on Mutley Plain on a central reservation .
SEE YOU THERE .
E. B.
The burgers were great and the chips in the pint were even better. Top notch food, great price, fantastic beers, and a lovely little place! Great to go with a few friends for lunch or even just for a drink.
C. L.
Excellent environment for a get together, great food... very friendly and helpful staff. I will be returning!
K. G.
Went there to meet some friends for a bite to eat there is now table service great but it took about 30/40 minutes for are food to arrive and when we ordered drinks that was 15 minutes don't think I will be going there for a while
L. E.
One of my favourite pubs! Quirky, great food, good staff! Love it!
J. J.
Great place, great choices and not bad prices. I love the look of the pub.
S. 9.
Nice atmosphere, traditional British pub with wide variety of interesting brand signs filling the walls. Great food, great drink selection, supports local breweries. My favourite pub in Plymouth :)
M. B.
Excellent pub. Good food, lots of options. Gin bar on the first floor is excellent - really worth a visit for some unusual options. Highly recommend.
C. M.
Fab food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Had a delicious afternoon tea for 2, with gin & prosecco. It was the highlight of my week!
J. W.
Always great quality food and polite staff. However always let down by slow service. It doesn't matter if the place is packed or empty, your food will always at least take 30 minutes to arrive.
M. G.
Great atmosphere, great food and a decent price. Definitely the best pub in Mutley.
J. M.
Still a very middling experience. Not the best pub to go to, but alright.
r. v.
Well worth visiting, will go there again
F. F.
Great place, lots of character, good food, upstairs gin palace, lots of outside seating when the weather's nice, helpful staff, never seen any trouble in there, what's not to like.
s. l.
omg this is one of the best pubs I have ever been too... beautiful food made to make ya mouth water (and it does)...banging atmosphere old qwarky signs which I absolutely love me and my husband love going there would recommend this place to everyone and anyone
L. S.
Great pub ,great food ,staff awesome.
However the music is awful and is the only thing that lets it down im wondering if staff are passing on the comments about music as I've heard lots of customers moan about it.
s. a.
Good pub atmosphere, lovely food. One of my favourite pubs in Plymouth
T. P.
Lovely staff and very attractive pub but the roast for nearly £10 per head was awful. The veg was tepid and the potatoes were difficult to cut they tasted and felt like they were rewarmed
s. f.
Great little pub wide selection of drinks highly recommend this bar friendly staff
G. S.
I like the Hyde Park because dogs are welcome. There can be long waits for food orders at busy times and it is advisable to book a table. The management have sought to maximise the number of bums on seats by the "tempoaray" extension and outside seating and at times it's simply too overcrowded for comfort.
G.
Come here often with work and it's a lot of fun! Well priced, fun decor and amazing staff!!
J. L.
Only 3 stars cos i couldn't have 2.5....
It was once a lovely place... since its 0 food rating its never really picked its self up... even tho it now has a 4 ... i understand it cant have a 5 after a 0...
It you have a pot of tea.... dont whatever you do look inside the teapot.. they are usually filthy and chipped...
We did eat there tonight (only cos someone had invited us and paid)... but its not good ... i hate eating from a chipped plate... think chips breed germs..... the salad bowls generally look like no-one has ever touched them and they're just put on the next available plate....
The place is dirty .....actually truthfully apart from going in there for a straight forward drink...dont bother ...and thinking about it 3 stars is way way to many !!!! Sorry !!
k. k.
Fabulous pub with great memorabilia on the walls from the past, wonderful food and a lovely Gin bar upstairs, I live in Manchester and come down once a month and like to call it my local 🍻🍷🍹
