Reviews of Grapes Hotel
C. F.
Friendly helpful staff. Had fish. The halibut was nice but in a lot of batter. My cod was nice but a touch too greasy for my very delicate tummy. However would definitely go again, nice atmosphere and decor.
S. R.
Lovely little pub we popped in for a drink and something to eat whilst the cricket was on. Warm welcome and great atmosphere. We both thought the choice of meals sounded delicious however when served it all fell a little short of the expectations and price asked. Glutenfree menu would help as my meal came without the rum & cola glaze on the gammon which wasn't mentioned pre arriving at the table. The replacement jacket potatoe instead of chips wasn't cooked well. The pub carpark was full with a wedding next door. We had to park down the road. We sat across the road on the green and watched the cricket after for a nice relax.

There are signs as you walk in the pub telling you to ‘download the app’… but when I tried to use the app I was told by the staff that the app doesn’t work, so why haven’t you taken down the signs then? The phone signal here is very poor, so I asked if they had WiFi as there were no signs saying they did. They did, and the WiFi works great. We went to the bar to order food, and were told they were out of one of the items, maybe a sign telling people what you’re out of would save some time for both parties. So signs telling you to use what doesn’t work, but no helpful signs telling you what does. I would have left 1 star except for Wendy the barmaid was amazing, and still made our visit pleasant even with the frustrations.

Attended on a Friday early evening, decent selections on the menu.
Had a lovely Korean chicken strips starter & a mixed grill however I asked for my steak medium rare & it arrived as medium to say the least & no peppcorn sauce available so I had to make do with a garlic & mushroom sauce which had no mushrooms in at all & be also in a very small pot for £2.00 so a little disappointed.
My partner had a garlic mushroom starter, served on a crumpet, unusual but tasty she said but it def needed more of the sauce to cover it.
I would attend again but they do need be a bit more generous with the sauce portions which are an extra for the price being charged !!
D. F.
Lovely pub. Staff very attentive, drink issue resolved instantly, no questions asked. Meal was great (shared platter - which was not shared). Grandsons loved the kids burgers. We will be back.
R. H.
We only had soda and lime drinks so can't comment on quality of food but the setting is beautiful especially if you sit looking across the Green and at the church next door. Nice and roomy inside too.
C. Y.
Considering Covid restrictions, the place was well organised, very clean and staff were very attentive. Felt safe and reassured by all measures taken. The service was fast and the food excellent.
P. B.
Boy oh boy what a fabulous place - the service is first class by all staff - the meals the chef does is brilliant - many thanks all
P. C.
We took my mother who is 91 and recently had a fall the waitress and the service and food was excellent nothing was too much trouble will definitely return again
B. B.
The best meal we've had in a long time, amazing service also. Will be back soon.

Went for Sunday lunch as a family with young grandkids and it was excellent. Staff were friendly helpful and accommodating particularly with the kids. The food was quickly produced (essential where youngsters are involved) plentiful and very tasty. It was also good value and an experience we'd be very happy to repeat.
S. K.
Nice food, only downside is they didn’t have some of the food on the menu, which was a little confusing, as the orders had been placed a few days in advance.
Otherwise a lovely place to eat.
J. N.
Very nice pub meal. Nice helpful staff who served with a smile
J. H.
The food was very good! Clean plates all around! Just the service let it down a bit as quite slow. Lovely pub!
J. S.
We had the sharing platter, absolutely delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. We shall be back.
S. V.
Nice meal here the other day staff really friendly food was lovely
J. R.
Food was excellent. Staff cheery . Great sitting out in beer garden at rear , when the weather was nice.
A. P.
Ok, nice pub, maybe we were unlucky but food lacked flavour & substance, nothing special about the Special Seafood Risotto that I had. Pricey too.
A. G.
Lovely pub ,really good food .fab staff. Lovely village setting .would definitely recommend it
J. R.
Disappointed with our meal,
was told when we ordered the pate as a starter they were out of the chutney, we said okay then, but when it arrived it was just a plate full of lettuce, could have at least added an alternative, say some tomato or cucumber. Apart from this, the meal itself was not what we expected. The pub looked homely and welcoming
S. J.
Good food a varied menu, plenty of space outside.dog friendly and friendly staff, worth a visit
D. S.
An absolute gem of a pub in beautiful Wrey Green. Will definitely be having another trip out to this place soon.
M. A.
Lovely food and excellent atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. They do have club on a Mon to Thurs which consists of 2 courses or three courses for a set fee. They also have fizz Friday. Highly recommended for a meal out if it's for a couple or a family. Kids are welcomed to.

Not been to the Grapes after a bad experience some years ago. Wow, what an improvement! Hate the word service, we were looked after by the staff exceptionally well. Friendly, professional and didn’t rush us. Nice to have a meal in nice surroundings and everything served at a sensible pace. Food excellent from a menu a touch different from other restaurants. The pudding, omg, chocolate fudge cake with stunning thick creamy ice cream. Huge thanks to Hannah, her colleagues and obviously the chef. We’ll be back soon.
A. H.
Excellent location and a very warm welcome. Would have got a 5th star but service was slow and my wife's order wasn't quite right. Keen to return as without the blip would have been brilliant!
J. D.
Enjoyed a couple of pints sat outside in the sunshine. Good beer and friendly service.
l. L.
Lovely little find. Staff very welcoming, and spotlessly clean inside. Food was lovely and great value for money. Very quaint inside. Snug areas with lovely twinkle lighting.
Would happily visit again.
A.
Having recently been for a family meal, the food was excellent. The service from Hannah and her team was first class, she was very pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her. She is a credit to the company, will be back very soon to enjoy this wonderful quaint country pub.

I came for a visit and How lovely it was ! Dog friendly and amazing Food . I had the dine before 4 pm which meant a starter and main under Twn pounds was delicious . Lovely staff . Great drinks . Wine bit pricey .. 8.50 for my fav a glass. I might be better buying a bottle but it's an affluent area and it's worth every single penny .
J. P.
First time for years, just passing, but stopped for bite to eat. Met at the
door by a member of staff, shown to a nice table by the window. we ordered food and coffee, we received it quite prompt, very nice and enjoyed it . toilet immaculate, and the whole place clean and cosy,a good atmosphere. next time will love to come ack for a nice steak .😃👍
J. C.
Nice venue, and lovely staff. On the whole the experience was good, but my dad's chicken burger was pretty disgusting. He tried eating it to be polite but left half... Soggy burger bun, and the burger was greasy and strangely slimy. We mentioned it to the staff, who said they'd let the chef know, but no offer to recook or anything else was forthcoming.
The remaining food the party had was good however, and perhaps he was just unlucky in his choice. I'd recommend the sharing platter and the desserts for sure.
M. G.
We booked a table for 2 at 6:45 pm Saturday night. We were seated right away and handed menus which was great. We'd only been sat a couple of minutes and asked for our order, we requested a few minutes more and the waitress was back in what felt like, less than 2 minutes.
Our starters arrived and were lovely but as one waiter took our plates as we finished the next waiter was right behind him bringing our mains. We would have liked a little time between courses.
We ordered desserts and it was pretty much the same.
The food was very good and the surroundings are comfortable, couldn't fault it but we were rushed and it spoiled the evening a bit. They didn't seem overly busy either. This was our first visit and I would try it again but would be disappointed if this was repeated.
C. B.
Lovely pub...great staff....nice food and drink...what more do you want !!!
L. R.
Went yesterday for a Sunday lunch. Busy. So couldn't get our first choice. But excellent food and ale. Please avoid as we want to keep this as a local pub.
M. R.
Great little village pub but food was very disappointing .
K. A.
Excellent service tonight by all of the staff and lucy. The food was second to none. Thankyou so much and will return in the future and recommend you to anyone. X
P. K.
Great pub, staff friendly and helpful, service was excellent, once food was ordered it came out very quickly and was nice and hot, they got the gap between the courses spot on so no long waits, food was great, everyone thought it was very good, very good meal experience all round.
D. B.
Turned up for lunch but due to shortage of chefs and their breaks, no lunch time service between 2-5pm will try again.....
C. P.
I have visited many many times over the last 25 years. Venue is beautiful and the staff are friendly with a good selection of beers. I always feel the food, though well presented, tastes pre-prepared and I don't get the full flavor I expect.
J. B.
Interesting and varied menu, presentation and taste of food very good, friendly and helpful staff. Prices a little higher than your average pub but it was well worth it. Both the Sea Bass and Signature Fish & Chips with Scampi that we had as our mains were excellent. Full of flavour and cooked just right. Already booked in for a return visit.
B. W. S.
Booked a meal for 4 pax on a Sunday evening and must say the service was very attentive , food arrived quickly with no fuss by smiling staff . Will definitely return 👍
L. B.
Gorgeous food and fab service.
S. C.
We popped in for a quick Sunday lunch whilst passing so hadn't made a reservation but the staff couldn't help us enough. The food was lovely, good generous portions, and it was so welcoming sitting by a log fire on a cold day
r. a.
Passed this lovely place many times on the way to Lytham, but first visit today.will certainly be returning after a very good lunch time meal.lovely staff and great food.big plus its also dog friendly in the bar area.thankyou everyone.lytham has competition!! See you all again soon.
M. S.
Always had good experiences here and today was no exception. Shown to the table and given the Menu's making sure to explain all the specials as well as the Lunchtime menu and drinks ordered and brought quickly.
Food order taken and all presented and cooked brilliantly and all staff making sure everything was ok.
M. F.
Fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere. The menu is full of unique dishes and nice touches. Came back 6 years later and the food is still amazing!
T. E.
We arrived on a bank holiday but it wasn't very busy, however, some of our first choice meal items were off. Blame the usual economic factors. The rest of the meal was fine except for a biscuit masquerading as a plant based burger. Obviously left under the grill too long. (No, we didn't complain as we were all ravenous.)
Lunch menu good value, though.
R. K.
Only stayed for a Real Ale, but the food looked very inviting.
B. K.
Pleasant countryside pub. As someone just passing through town needing a good hearty meal I was wanting to stay for more!
M. L.
My wife and I love each other very much but we barely spoke a word to each other during our meal, such was the quality of what we were served...all that came out of our mouths was the occasional moan or groan of delight at the fantastic food. Our starter was a perfectly-sized portion of perfectly-fried salt and pepper squid, our main courses (roast pork belly for me, trio roast for her) were incredible. The meat was succulent and cooked to perfection, the gorgeous sweet potato jus mixed with the gravy and smothered the food in a lovely flavour, the veg, the roasts, the crackling...all rich and delicious. Then, the coup de gras; their salted caramel sundae - oh my word. WHAT A DESSERT. Get one!! Sumptuous...
The wine was delicate and tasty, great quality.
The staff were friendly and engaging, the service was impeccable.
A fantastic dining experience. Well worth the money and the travel. We'll definitely be paying The Grapes another visit! BRAVO!!
D. D.
Warm family atmosphere, excellent service
P. S.
Great hospitality from Megan and staff. Nice to meet you all, see you soon. Good food and drinks. Thanks to all.
M. W.
Went on Tuesday with a walking group. All enjoyed the food. 12 of us. Excellent service and staff. Good value. Will be definitely going again soon.

S. D.

M. M.
Really nice food definitely worth a visit.
N. W.
Absolutely amazing food, comfy dining spaces, and staff who go out of their way to facilitate you. Could not fault it at all.
K.
Very good food (large portions) and reasonable prices. Service etiquette needs slight attention in some areas. We will happily return. Please replace the broken toilet seat; the repair doesn't do you any favours. It is a novelty though!
J. B.
The food in this pub is absolutely amazing. The Grapes is a little pub in a little village called Wrea Green, it looks very old and quite unassuming, however when you enter this place its charming and I think very attractive. Just a typical village pub you might think, you would be wrong, both my husband and I have retired and we love travelling, it can be quite difficult as we are both disabled, we have been to quite a few eateries but the Grapes tops all of the places we have eaten all over the world. The staff are professional, kind, caring and seem genuinely interested in making a visit to their "place" one of the most important culinary experiences of your life. Not once have I eaten there and had a bad meal, not once have I eaten there and been treated rudely. I would recommend the Grapes over and over again, absolutely love this place. Eat there and rest assured you will have a meal full of beautiful tastes and amazing service.
D. W.
Service was slow, 10 minutes stood at the desk without being acknowledged before being seated. 30 minutes until drinks arrived after ordering and food exceptionally slow at coming out. Look of sadness when I looked at my plate go find half a portion of fries with my miniscule "chefs signature burger". overall not the best, not the worst. Food was nice nonetheless. I'll be back, hopefully service will be a bit quicker next time
S. A.
Visited the grapes on Tuesday afternoon it was my 2nd visit & l wasn't disappointed. Hannah is an exceptional member of the team she is friendly, knowledge & friendly. Booked to return in November for a Xmas lunch.
W. E.
Love the Grapes first visit in over 10 years and it didn't disappoint. Excellent fresh food served by an amazing team. Specials change all the time and are absolutely fabulous
F. J.
Called for a lunch time pint .. had a decent pint! Great service ... didnt eat but had a look at a great menu ,reasonably priced . Will be back ..
S. G.
We happened to be passing through Wrea Green village and called in to The Grapes for something to eat. Our first impression was of a cosy, traditional pub. We chose our table and were quickly greeted by Hannah who took our drinks order. Good choice of beers and wine. We both ordered chicken, bacon and avocado salad which was delicious! All the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was lovely. Highly recommended. We will be back very soon!
T. B.
Lovely place and food ... Only negative is the toilets , floor needs a good clean and too many air fresheners... Just my opinion though.
G. C.
Really nice atmosphere, nice food to enjoy with your friends and furry pet too
A. M.
Food was excellent, well prepared and presented. Very reasonable prices and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit.
J. C.
Food was really good, especially the Steak and Ale pie. The staff are lovely and kind, we went for my sons family birthday meal and they couldn't do enough to help. Decorated the table with balloons and streamers and several staff members came in singing with his cake. Lovely friendly atmosphere.
C. S.
Local perennial favourite and always have a good meal here. Great attentive staff, though the high turnover of waiting staff means you never see the same face twice. Last waiter we got was about 12 and useless but that's unusual. Great selection of ales and a regular refresh of the menu keeps it interesting.
L. W.
I visit here regularly. The staff are really helpful and the food is lovely. The only thing I don't really rate too highly is the steak. Everything else I've had has been great. They have a really good Gluten free selection as well.
M. S.
Been to the grapes number of times since we moved to the area 12 months ago. Always a warm welcome good service and good food. Very consistent which is hard to come by nowadays.
A. J.
Nice easy atmosphere, great beers and a log fire, what more do you need. Well I needed feeding and had a rib of beef Sunday dinner which was delicious as always. I would recommend visiting here if you are in the neighbourhood, you won't be disappointed.
S. D.
Food was really nice. Loved it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
K. O.
Very helpful and enthusiastic young staff. Good food, decent prices. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely come again
S. F.
Parking to the rear, struggled to park. Location was good. Had pre booked our table, arrived on time, was shown quickly to our table. Service was slow (am aware ofCovid at present). Food ok, normal beef burgers had all the trimmings on, unimpressed with the veggie burger ( came with a cheese slice and the end slice of a tomato, that wouldn't normally bother me, but was unimpressed with the taste of the burger). In all fairness it was busy, my son explained that service etc was better on a previous night. Building inside looked good and staff were friendly. Didn't say anything at the time as didn't want to ruin other people's evening out.
G. P.
Friendly staff and a warm welcome. My Hake was over cooked and the potatoes undercooked and quite hard but overall it was edible. The bread and butter pudding was cold! Even though it was busy they need better attention to detail in the kitchen. Fair value for money
J. T.
The food is nice here, the service can on occasion be a touch slow but when you order something even off the menu they will provide for you, would definitely recommend
T. M.
Great place, great ales, food was excellent, staff were absolutely brilliant highly recommended, thanks for a lovely evening
A. B.
Went on Friday lunchtime with my family 7 adults and 3 children we hadn't booked the staff found us a table straight away. The staff were very helpful and friendly . We ordered food and drinks the food was lovely and reasonable priced. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely return.
J. W.
Lovely food staff and atmosphere xxx
M. B.
Today 3 of us visited the grapes for a meal it was the first time we had visited as a group. There was a good selection of foodand the prices were good today we all had the gammon it was excellent and we will go back in the near future. The only thing I would gripe about is you could do with a better selection of bitter
k. k.
Perfect. Friendly. Clean. Food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Staff are lovely. Shout out to hannah for our service. Will definitely visit again.
S. L.
Lovely food & comfortable surroundings. Friendly & polite staff too. Would go again.
B. H.
Went with a party of 18 and given an area to ourselves. Excellent quality food and service from the staff on duty tonight. With many thanks also to Simon who we met to arrange the meal 2 days earlier.
Cannot praise everyone enough. Thank you, everyone enjoyed the evening.
P. R.
Staff really nice very helpful food very good been 4 times will go back again thank you 😊
S. B.
Nice pub and restraunt we have eaten here several time since moving to wrea green we ordered from the app last time we went. It was sooo easy and layed back ,nice food.
A. G.
We had a really lovely meal at The Grapes with our daughter & son in law on Sunday, 3rd Feb. Would definitely recommend eating here. The staff were pleasant & friendly. Very enjoyable. A. Greenwood
A. A.
had a meal for my granddaughters birthday. All really enjoyed it even better with gluten free options for my daughter and younger granddaughter. Can fully recommend.
S. T.
Great menu with lots to choose. Friendly helpful staff. Didn't feel rushed, had a lovely calm feel.
G. J.
I'm from Wigan and had a meal at the Grapes. I had to book and I can see why. A very welcoming pub restaurant with a wide selection of Cask Ales and Lagers with an extensive Wine list. The menu is good and the food is excellent. I would like to say thank you to the Staff and locals for making my wife and me very welcome. 4 Stars.
F. S.
Very quiet in the week. I dont know how the Grapes is affording to stay open because we visited the other week for couple of drinks and during our stay we were the only customers. Staff are friendly but I cannot comment upon their efficiency as it wasnt needed on the day I visited.
Disabled access was good and parking was easy.
E. U.
Lovely pub with a log fire food was good what more could you want stsff were really attentive ...all good
C. C.
Really enjoyed the food, and the waiting staff were very attentive and helpful.
G. H.
Excellent food and service. The management and staff were very professional and covid guidelines were observed. I would highly recommend this place . Thanks
C. G.
Had a family meal here the other day. The portions were a good size and the food was delicious. However it was only when I got home that I realised my Chicken, Bacon and Avocado salad didn't have any avocado in it!
J. O.
Lovely visit to the grapes service was good the food was really nice and well priced r,Wendy was very nice
D. C.
Totally perfect experience, great service and lovely food. Very highly recommended
S. H.
Lovely food and a very pleasant and helpful Micheala who served us.
A great evening to end our holiday at Wrea Green Grapes Hotel and pub.
C. H.
Good service with well informed waiters. Good food at reasonable prices. Worth a visit again after previous poor reviews.

Lovely place in summer. To watch the cricket

Lunch for two,
Called in at The Grapes this lunchtime with my husband. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and were shown to our table. Wendy our server was most helpful, and assisted us with our choice from the very varied and interesting menu. Our food was delicious and piping hot . I had the game pie and my husband had the lamb shank which he usually has as it is so good.
We have also had a family Sunday lunch at this venue and it is excellent and very good value for money. Well done to all the staff and Head Chef Mark for making The Grapes such a first class establishment.
P. H.
Very disappointed with our meal this evening. My wife had the mixed grill and I had the seasonal garden bowl topped with steak, the food was tasteless I don't even know how it's possible to make a tasteless mix grill? We are normally fans of this pub and would probably have rated only 1 star if no for previous pleasant experiences. Will give it another try, just hope they get their act together.
F. B.
A nice little countryside setting for a traditional pub that has been grabbed into the contemporary. This is an interesting mix of tradition and gastro. The food is pleasant without being arsey the beer good not great, but the overall mix is right for a family occasion rather than a romantic setting.
P. B.
Pleasent country pub in beautiful surroundings on the village green. Good food, I had the mixed grill which had plenty of meat in decent portions. I couldn't eat anything else once I finished as the meal was so big, good value for the money.
P. B.
We enjoyed a fantastic meal here today, and with a separate gluten free menu I was very well catered for. Good food, very friendly and helpful staff! Will definitely return.
S. C.
Had the Christmas menu. Was lovely.
W. C.
Good food and at the right price.
K. H.
Lovely food lovely staff
C. S.
Very nice lunch for 4. Plenty of choice. Excellent service. Recommend.
M. A.
Nice setting in Wrea Green. Ambience relax and quirky. Staff friendly and welcoming. My only negative comment is on the salad that came with my main dish, wilted, well passed its best time of the day. Otherwise, full marks. Keep the good work.
N. D.
Whilst the food, service and ambience here are more than adequate, without being outstanding, there are a number of things which need to be addressed.
If I ask for a table for two, and I am then conducted to a table for four, I do not expect to have to move two place settings and wine glasses to one side where they then remain throughout the meal.
Needing vinegar, tomato sauce and more drinks meant leaving my table twice to search for a member of staff. On both occasions they were very busy..... in conversation about their respective weekend adventures. Therefore not keeping an eye on the customers.
In this day and age customers should not be given stained cutlery!! Similarly, simple use of a cherry stick would ensure that salt and pepper runs freely.
The management of The Grapes need to make people who work there understand just who really pays their wages.

The grapes hotel,is a warm and enjoyable place to have a drink+ good food. Well done to Wendy+ staff who were on this afternoon. Five stars. Keep up the good work.
J. W.
Just an old beautiful pub ,with good staff ,the food is just perfect as this was our 2nd visit the service was just the same ,perfect .we will be back xx
A. S.
Super duper pub very olde worlde but offering a vast range of drinks and a great menu. All of which was very tasty served in a reasonable time as they were quite busy and we only had one pudding but it was to die for.
Definately better than the average pub grub
A. D.
Very friendly, great menu.
G. Y.
Both myself & 3 Friends have been twice recently, we didn't have long to wait for our Meals + Drinks. Food Good & friendly helpful staff. Pub is in a nice Location!
J. B.
Excellent food and service
L. M.
Had lunch here whilst on a hen weekend. Lovely surroundings, good food with excellent service; they took18 orders calmly with no fuss. Would highly recommend the Grapes.
D. H.
Many thanks to Hannah and Andrew for their help in organising food etc at the get together following mum's funeral. The spread was very nice helped along by good beer and a warm welcome.
R. H.
Chicken and leek Pie was soggy. Chips - described as twice fried - came straight from freezer. Menu was enticing but food didn't live up to it. Atmosphere was average and staff were distinctly average
S. T.
Great food, lovely attentive staff and a really cosy atmosphere. We have eaten here on several occasions and are never disappointed. Will be back in April
M. L.
Great pub in the heart of Wrea Green, Lancashire. 4 cask ales served in great condition. Friendly and welcoming staff. Never eaten here but it is a popular eating establishment......
L. M.
Forever falling between the stools of beer and food. Never the quality associated with Gastropub word and the beer never as consistently good as it could be:; not beer service as good. He Saturday night over 5 mins to get one pint of beer and hi was second in queue, the person in front ordering food for four at the bar. Where other servers.
S. D.
We've visited here a few times for a meal..... The food and service is lovely, this time we visited just for a drink in the bar... The service was different.... The staff were more concerned with serving the restaurant side rather than the bar.... We waited neay 10 minutes to be served and there were 5 other customers waiting after us.... We were served then the member of staff returned to restaurant side, when she returned no apology for the wait was given or as to why she kept disappearing...maybe they were short staffed or there was an issue either way a polite apology at least should have been given
p. g.
Lovely pub and restraunt
B. C.
Wonderful atmosphere. looked popular as was busy. The food was served quickly and was of good quality. Had to reserve a table for food. Great place
P. G.
We have been to the grapes Hotel on many occasions and always found a warm welcome and the food good . 👍

Very typical English country pub. Serves great food and ale's. Biggish car park. Outside seating overlooking the lovely Wrea Green green.

Disappointed with the meal - wild mushroom chicken was overdone and the kale was limp, yellowing and inedible. Has this place changed hands as last time we visited it was good. I'd be reluctant to go again.
