Loved the food and the ambience. Perfect summer spot to have food and chill. Opted to sit outside watching the docks. We had Apricot drizzled Pork belly and bacon-mushroom- beef burger from their special menu. And drinks.

Lovely pub with views toward the river. Beer garden with playground - good for kids and dogs. They had an amazing 2 for 1 main meal deal that we opted for. Sausage & mash and Hunters Chicken was tasty and generous servings!

My wife and I stopped at The Ribble Pilot before going to the cinema on Friday afternoon and cannot fault it First and foremost all the staff were brilliant and really really friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing The menu was the usual pub grub but nevertheless there was a great choice and We chose the chicken strips to share for a starter and had the Cowboy burger and Leak pie for mains and the food was excellent. I did actually have a 30% discount voucher but because we were so pleased I left the savings as a tip because we enjoyed everything so much We will most definitely be returning many more times Well done to everyone

This is a very welcoming pub, clean and a good menu. The bar staff are very helpful, in particular I want to thank WILL, who made my visit a very pleasant experience. They also have Amstel on draft which was so tasty. I recommend 100%

First time eating in the area and would definitely come back to this restaurant. Walked in and was instantly greeted by sally very smiley and polite and gave my little girl some colouring. We then ordered food at the bar with jack, Great person and very polite and also interacted with my little one. He even mentioned that he was new and I wouldn’t of thought so. We visited again for a meal an drinks on thursday the 13th october. This is nr our first time and we will continue to use ribble pilot as our 1st choice of outing. The staff are always polite and lovelt especially a blonde lady whos name we dont no but always goes the extra mile to make me and my girlfreind feel welcome and wanted their. What a little find! Fantastic, friendly service - with lots of care taken over the allergy one of our party had... Excellent food, ideal portions - and that trickiest of things, the medium-rare rump steak, cooked perfectly...extra investigations made into products because of the allergy issue...a wonderful Cowboy burger...a well kept pint, and a charming location all added up to a brilliant stop for tea. Great staff, at pains to get things right, and wonderful dishes - you know the food is good when the group are sitting there eating in silence, instead of chatting with each other! I can't recommend this place highly enough, great team behind the bar and top food. Well done you guys, brilliant!

Really enjoyed our meal. Hunters Chicken with sweet potato chips was delicious ~ succulent chicken breast perfectly cooked and non greasy chips; a light dressing on the accompanying salad would've been nice too. Sat down at our a table after a few minutes a waiter came over and asked us whether we would like a drink. Which was dealt with efficiently. Five minutes or so later a waitress asked if we were ready to order. Which we did. She was very attentive and had a good sense of humour. As there was only 3 of us she explained about the free pudding we could get from the 2 for 1 menu. Food arrived after 10mins, Sally our waitress brought with her usual jovial self. The food was excellent and well presented. (2 fish & chips, 1 hunters chicken). Once eaten, the plates were taken and we asked to wait for 10mins before ordering pudding. The free pudding was ordered which was excellent. Overall the experience was very good with the staff friendliness, experience and professional attitude excellent.

The place is very beautiful but the prices are a bit higher than usual. Last time I visited this place, I ordered chips/fries but the waiter brought me crisps 😂. When I asked why he said that the kitchen was already closed. He didn't even ask me whether I wanted to replace my order with crisps.

Came in with the family for some food and it did not disappoint! The children's meals are fantastic value for money. Myself and my partner both went for Mega Mixed grills and boy were they Mega! Steaks were cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was delicious! Will definitely be back soon!

The food was disappointing. Sorry but you need to sort that out ASAP. That has to be one of the worst pub meals I've ever had. The only reason I didn't give you a 1 or 2* rating is because of the current situation. I appreciate that the hospitality industry is having staffing issues, and respect that this might have influenced the quality of the food. The only way to test that theory is by eating there again.

Unfortunately, we had to wait nearly an hour and a half for our main meal. However, this was due to staff shortages and a member of staff having to be sent home ill. During the wait we were kept well informed about our meal and were given loads of extras! The actual food was excellent, well cooked and tasty. Will definitely eat there again. Sally, our waitress, was very polite and helpful.

A nice experience with friendly staff My husband had the Mega mixed Grill (his usual choice) it was cooked to perfection and is dfinately not for the faint hearted. The burgers and apricot glazed pork was also cooked spot on and presented lovely. Highly recommend this place and will be back.

Having worked management in a similar establishment I am fully aware of how the food is stored and cooked so not expecting amazing food. So £16/£17 for a burger or pasta is shocking. I understand that times have been tough but the company who run this pub need to rethink their menu/prices. We actually left without eating or drinking because of this.

This review is purely based on the customer service, about 2 weeks ago we came here for something to eat, the food was nice but the reason for my review was based on a gentleman who works there. We had a group of 4 adults and 2 children we ordered all of our food and he remembered the whole order including drinks without a pen or paper I thought it was rather impressive! Also one of the kids used a machine that was "guaranteed prize" but the hook couldn't reach the prize so he gave the child a pound out of his own pocket so she could use it on another machine, he went above and beyond throughout making sure we was OK and enjoying the meal. I feel awful I don't remember his name, my memory isn't as good as his unfortunately. Out of all the places I have eaten out I will always remember this place because of this lovely gentleman so thank you x

Prices for the main meals have gone up so much. £18.95 for fish & chips? £17 for a fried chicken burger and frozen chips? Dirty chairs. Im really quite shocked. 2 for 1 means absolutely nothing when you pay over the odds for a meal. It isnt good value anymore. Wont be visiting again.

Lovely staff and nice atmosphere. The only comments I would make are that the room we stayed in had a small double bed which needs to be changed to a standard. Presumably this has been done due to the size of the room but it makes sleeping really uncomfortable and the room did have sufficient space to accommodate a standard Also the windows dont open enough, I appreciate we were on first floor but the room was absolutely unbearably hot!!

Went for an impromptu lunch today with my family and have to say that the service was friendly and quick. Slight mix up with my son's meal but the staff were quick to rectify it and the food was great! Very attentive and couldn't do enough for us.

They food is nice. The service from the bar staff was good but only two serving could of done with more staff helping on the bar. The restaurant area wasn't very clean, lots of food on floor under and around the table we were sat. We ordered refillable drinks and having to clue up at the bar whilst my food was going cold wasn't great. Had to wait a while to get served. They could do with an area to help yourself like other pubs do.

It is a very nice pub and restaurant. They normally have lots of great offers. I think their best offer is two meals of steak and a bottle of wine for £20 on Fridays. Additionally they always have an offer of buy one meal get the second one free. There is one day in a week that they offer free starters. There is also a lamb shank meal that my wife really likes. This pub is a family friendly pub, therefore you can take your children with yourself. Free parking is available in front of the pub. This pud was introduced to me by a friend and now we really love the pub. My family and I go there 2 to three time a month and been really happy with the service. Moreover, there is an outside play area in the pub for kids.

Very nice atmosphere, nice and clean, good food! Only reason for 4 stars is that the chicken they use for carvery is shocking! Avoid it, I have never known so many bones in a piece of chicken. Not what you want when your tucking into a roast, really off putting!

Although the place itself is well decorated and pleasant ... the food I had fish and chips has never been a meal that was as good as the other food you had on offer... Went to the Ribble Pilot for a meal before going to the pictures, on Friday 17th January. I must say that the staff are I credit to the business. I have a food allergy and was made to feel very special. I was able to purchase Gluten free beer and food. The guy behind the bar recommended a Chocolate Fudge Cake dessert, which was delicious and I was able to have a burger for the first time in ages. The kitchen staff were very quick and our food was very well presented, hot and yummy.The serving staff were very knowledgable with food allergies and we were very pleased we picked the Ribble Pilot for our Friday Night tea.

We spent the weekend in Preston (don't laugh, girlfriend had a training thingybob to go to, so we made a weekend of it). During my adventuring to find somewhere chilled to walk the dog, I walked past the Ribble Pilot a few times and couldn't help noticing that it was a nice and fresh looking pub that didn't feel pretentious. On our last evening in Preston we decided to give it a try. The "No dogs allowed" signs meant we had to leave it until it'd cooled off a bit so the pup could be safely left in the car, but one antler and a handful of bribery-bones later, and we'd managed to escape in to the pub. First thoughts of the Ribble Pilot were "oh god, another chain pub" - it's got that feel on entry of a 1990s Brewer's Fayre or Hungry Horse, but my perceptions changed very quickly when we looked at the specials board, very prominent as we walked in the door - just reading the specials board, I could feel the drool forming on the corner of my lips. We found a table, sat down, as you do, and then the experience earned its stars. We were fully expecting to have to do the bar service thing, but to our surprise, enter Emily.. a bubbly and (on the outside) genuinely happy member of the pub's team. Nothing was too much trouble, taking our order, doing a check-back that actually felt like she meant it, and making a pub lunch a more enjoyable experience than the mediocre you've come to expect in 99% of places. The Ribble Pilot knows what it is - there are no shoddy masquerades here, no ill-placed French words on the menu; it's a pub. It does good, honest, and really tasty pub grub in a very good way. The starters were well-sized to match the generous portions, and the whole experience tasted fresh and like the chef had actually had some input in their menu - something so rare to find in so many chains. The fact the menu is 2 for 1 means that everything is priced at a slight premium, but obviously with the mindset that it's all going to be discounted at the end. The only let down here - and usually I'd knock a star or two off for it - the gent's toilets.. like so many pubs, the uncanny stench of a stale cess-pit is overwhelming the second you walk in the door. I'd love to see this pub open up itself, or at least its beer garden to dogs, it would have been great to have the pup under the table with us rather than having to be left in the car.

Me and my boyfriend went out for a meal tonight at the ribble pillot. I would like to say first of all the food has really gone down hill from a year ago. We ordered two pepsi's a large and a half pint. They came after about 10 mins brought by another girl than our original server. Both we're half pints and literally half full with ice. I went to the bar and our original server Katy sorted this out and brought me a pint of Pepsi that I had asked for when we ordered. I ordered the Louisiana vegi burger and my boyfriend ordered the chilli beef burger doubled. They came and my boyfriends burger wasn't doubled. Again Katy brought out the burger and apologised for what had happened. My burger did not have the guacamole on that it said it would. I didn't want to say another thing as we just wanted to get with our meal. To be honest the food was not that great. It was average and to be honest I could have bought it from the shop and cooked it myself and it would have tasted fresher and not cost as much. I would just like to say that Katy R is a blessing to the ribble pillot and she corrected all the other staffs mistakes with a smile on her face. I used to be a waitress and know how stressful it can be sometimes but she was so polite and literally deserves a promotion or a pay increase.

This one provides the same high quality food at very sensible prices and is also positioned next to the Preston Dock and Marina area so enjoys an enviable spot for outside drinks in the Summer.
