Reviews of The Ship
M. R.
A typical English country pub with a great restaurant. The food is amazing especially the Sunday roast diner. Just make reservation online, the staff is lovely and helpful.
D. W.
Delightful hidden away gastro type pub that is the oldest (1630!) on the Fylde coast. Serving a selection of ales & food in a lovely sympathetically restored interior.
Southerly views across the Ribble marshes, with balcony & outdoor add to the charm.
The food menu is a little limited, with generous portions, - the addition of smaller salads etc would be welcome; irrespective all is freshly & swiftly prepared, by the friendly attentive Ship team.
M. M.
Really pleased. Great food selection, fantastic service! We will definitely be eating there again soon. Recommended.

Food was to quick to come out, not been in 10 minutes and food was served, was just warm looks better that it tasted, chicken was dry roasted potatoes were over cooked, service for drinks was very slow. Also observes staff stroking dogs, then serving food and drinks without washing their hands………,just saying

Very nice food
Highly recommend. 1 of our locals now.

A lovely place with great atmosphere and food. It was definitely worth the dive from Blackpool for my birthday meal here with my boyfriend.
It's dog friendly and they do a quiz night on Thursdays.
The food was overall great. I had a braised beef Wellington for my main, which was beautiful, and the cocktail was delicious.
My only slight disappointment was the cherries that came with the black forest cheesecake, which had the texture of cheap glacé cherries. The cheesecake itself was delectable though.

Had a really nice meal with my friend on a Tuesday as it was 2 4 1 on mains, relaxed setting with a beautiful view from the upstairs terrace. The only thing that took away the 2 stars were 1) the prices and 2) I'm under the impression that it's no longer a family venue as the menu doesn't have anything aimed at anyone with a less than adventurous palette. Great for adults though with plenty of disposable income.
D. S.
Excellent. Nice food good service and excellent pub - Restaurant
R. H.
Amazing place. Much investment carried out inside and outside. High quality fixtures and fittings. We only had lattes but these were very nice. Lovely to sit outside. Place very busy when we visited and the staff were obviously having to work hard and at some pace to keep up with the orders and remain well organised.
L. W.
Ten stars and more , lovely atmosphere and open views of the countryside. Amazing staff that really make you feel important and welcoming. Food was A+ compliments to the chefs and kitchen staff will be booking the coffee and dog walk
O. V.
Even though it is not a Thai restaurant the Thai curry I ordered was very tasty and authentic, lovely customer service, and beautiful surroundings
M. W.
Went with friends for lunch we was seated and our order for food and drinks was fine but the food was well over half an hour a bit to long when it was just the sandwiches. And no member of staff said sorry for the wait. If they had I wouldn’t have minded. So not good really
M. I.
The Ship is a lovely place. Staff friendly. Tuesday is 2 for 1 so was busy but not over facing.
Sat outside in the sunshine with wife, son and dog.
Thought I would order some cops to snack on.
45 mins later still no chips. Yes I know I should have enquired earlier...or should I maybe you decide.
Any way our chips gad been sent out, allegedly, and the manager refused our £4.50.
Good and worth a visit
E. N.
Welcoming warm cozy environment, friendly helpfully staff nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing. Perfectly cooked enough time between to chat and let food settle without feeling like your waiting too long, ideal for catch up with freinds birthday meal out or even just an evening out with your partner.
We will deffinatly be going back again
m. b.
Very pleasant atmosphere and good service. Lovely variety in menu. 1 of party ordered Lancashire cheese pie which was disappointing, everything else great including a nice glass of red.
A. M.
Great food lovely staff we will be back
P. J.
Just a quick walk from our BnB, The Ship is the oldest pub (1630!) on the Fylde coast. Beautifully restores and updated but it still has the warm and welcoming feel of an old village pub.
The food was delicious and plentiful.
The staff are friendly and professional. They make you very welcomed. The manager spent time to told us about the area. Thanks for a very nice experience.
G. J.
Really done out well, food lovely drinks a bit on the dear side, bottle of wine £25-27 is way on the expensive side, but overall really nice, staff very polite.
E. S.
Definitely worth the trip to find it. A lovely pub with great staff and delicious food and drink. A lesson for a lot of other places.
J. M.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Food was good and the staff were friendly, plus it is a dog friendly pub (inside too). The Korean Fried Chicken is to die for - no surprise that everyone orders it! Gammon, egg, pineapple and chips - done properly! The lamb kofta was excellent too.
k. m. (.
Melt in the mouth roast beef dinners, plus delicious sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake with walnut and banana... yummy!
Fast friendly service, and super clean, in beautiful surroundings at Freckleton.
K. P.
Best fish pie I've ever had! And the pavlova was delicious! Really pleasant staff, lovely cosy atmosphere too ❤️
D. L.
Had a really enjoyable meal here on a Sunday. Soup of the day to start and a beef roast dinner. Superb quality at a really fair price, probably even cheaper than most other places! Friendly staff and really enjoyed the recent refurbishments inside. Will be back again soon
M. H. T.
We had a really nice meal here for my wife's birthday. I had the beef Wellington, which had been recommended to me by two different people and was excellent. I also enjoyed the waffle for dessert. Thoroughly impressed and will eat here again.
P. S.
Only had lunch but the food was great and pretty reasonable prices. Will be back to try dinner menu. Top marks to the staff for excellent service and not being over fussy
C. C.
Excellent food, very good and professional server. Just as I remembered this place from nearly 50 years ago, when I worked there on a Sunday as a teenager! still fields to look out onto!
D. I.
Had an excellent Sunday roast, the service was friendly, professional and not pushy. The beef was so tender and the gravy was delectable. Can't wait to go back.
S. S.
Delicious food. Lovely atmosphere.
S. R.
Great atmosphere and amazing views of the countryside. The Penang curry was fantastic. A special thank you to our lovely waitress Summer, who was so amazing and is an absolute asset to The Ship.
C. M.
Great service from friendly staff. Food tasty and well presented.
A. H.
It's the first time we have been, unfortunately we hadn't booked, but we were shown to a table on the balcony, all the staff were very helpful , we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & the meal was first class
J. S.
Lovely friendly staff ,great service and beautiful food .All in a village setting with beautiful views 🤩
K. W.
Good atmosphere, the food was lovely, we all enjoyed our meal. Only given 4 stars as wasn't impressed with the response of bar man when one of my friends was deciding what drink to have.
M. B.
Our party was told by the waiting staff to expect a 20 minutes delay as they were busy. After 1 hour still no sign of anything. Told staff we would leave. Then instantly the food order appears.. It was obvious that the food had been sitting under a heat lamp as the outside had dried and was inedible. Having been to the Ship for 40 plus years this is disappointing. Will think twice before going again.
D. D.
The food was beautiful the staff were professional and really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Will be back again.
G. P.
Lovely public house to visit, great view, service and beer great. Didn't have a meal this time but what I saw looked good.
M. E.
Had a 60th and an 80th birthday party and family get together. Excellent ambience, helpful and friendly staff, good food, wonderful ambience, spectacular views. Well recommended.
J. h.
Had the most amazing meal last night, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully 👏👏. Excellent service too 👍

K. B.
Lovely place by the river. The beer went down very well, the food was nice although waited an hour for it, but it was very busy at the time
A. P.
Incredible staff, building, and food. Highly recommended.
This isn't a budget boozer but, the prices are reasonable for what's on offer.
M. G.
The food was delightful with excellent service by the staff
S. M.
Very nice staff and a lovely place. Great atmosphere. The people were so nice. Beautiful grounds
r.
Fantastic food 2for1 all day on a Tuesday. Great location, hospitality is top notch.
S. A.
Lovely Inn, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We had starters, mains and dessert. Every meal was gorgeous. We all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here. Service was really nice and the interior was lovely mix of old world charm and botanical decor. Would definitely recommend. Thank you !
S. H.
Really nice place for lunch. We had a table overlooking the valley for lunch... chicken curry, vegan budda bowl, and sea bass...
All were generous portions, well cooked and delicious. The bill was less than £50 including drinks which was excellent value.
Recommended
S. S.
we had a great lunch, friendly staff and lovely views.
I. L.
Stopped here for lunch as I liked the old world look of the place while I was on the way to a job earlier on.
I chose the fried egg on a steak medium rare with jacketed fries which was cooked to perfection and so tasty. Although the egg was bordering on sunny side up it was still very palatable.
Half way through my lunch the landlord set about lighting the open fire which serves two rooms with cut logs which has sorely tempted me to return in about an hour with crumpets and a toasting fork 😃
J. B.
Had an excellent meal here. Good service and beautiful views over the marshes.
r. d.
Nice pub in pleasant area, good choice of drinks including cask ales. Food is 2 for 1 on Tuesdays (the day we visited, lucky eh!). It was busy because of that but they were able to fit us in anyway. Good varied choice on the menu, something for everyone pretty much.
S. R.
Beautiful food good service. Tuesday is 2for 1. Highly recommend. 👍
A. G.
What a hidden gem of a pub. A great selection of beers, the food looked amazing (sadly we'd already eaten). There's an outdoor deck that offers outstanding views of Lancashire and would be an ideal location to spend a sunny afternoon.
M. L.
Very nice pub. Lovely scenery outside. Friendly, professional staff. Very plush interior and not to mention the extended beer garden and outdoor mezzanine. Serves cask ale. Quiz night once a week. Freckleton's hidden gem
Serves food.
T. D.
What about a brilliant first visit.
For some reason my online booking had not been received. Had booked to take my other half for his birthday. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us, could not have done more. Food is first class and well presented.
Cannot recommend highly enough.
I. B.
1st visit here. Good food, great staff. Lovely quiet pub tucked away. We will be back I'm sure 😀
J. H.
Great Ambience, the staff were lovely the food was beyond great, can't fault this place. Dogs allowed too which was an added bonus

Great place for a beer with amazing views and the food is great too.

The food is delicious and the staff were wonderful. The view from the upstairs balcony was also really nice
F. s.
Great food and lovely views even in the rain, certainly recommend
v. v.
Went for a late lunch with my friend and was impressed. Steak sandwich was spot on. The pavlova wasn't anything special but the steak made up for that
P. O.
Good food and friendly service.Busy on a Tuesday night but staff kept smiling. Nice cosy pub atmosphere.
t. h.
Food was fantastic, the pub has lots of character and the staff were excellent. Great experience. Thanks

Just had a Christmas Eve family meal & had a great time. This is a lovely country pub & the food was perfect. The service we received was superb, very efficient & very friendly staff. I thoroughly recommend The Ship & look forward to return again sometime in the new year. Try it for yourselves, you won't be disappointed!
H. M.
If you like planes but would like a drink and food I would definitely recommend the ship in warton you can watch them fly over its amazing
S. B.
I wanted to leave a review regarding our experience of our night at the Ship Inn. We booked the new years eve set meal and it was delicious, well worth the money. I also wanted to to say the entertainment and the whole night was fantastic, we had such a great fun evening, I believe this was due to the staff and team that work there, so I wanted to say thank you to you all for making it a very special evening and a big thank you to the friendly waitress that worked so hard all night to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you again everyone and all the best for 2022 see you all soon.

Had a great time here today
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Daughter had the barbecue spare ribs starter,”very generous portions “

A. J. W.
Great location if u want a little drive and a lovely walk it's on my favourites list!!
I had the bangers and mash which was great but might ask for a little extra gravy next time.
J. O.
Excellent service- Excellent food - Excellent staff - would definitely recommend 👌
D. D.
Building, decor and location are breathtaking, I love a historic venue. The staff were all pleasant, too.
However, my Sunday roast was only warm in some parts.
Plus, a tenner for extra pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese is bonkers, that'd take the full cost of the meal to £23.50.
Some parts of it tasted a bit unusual as well, and I didn't hear much amazing feedback from the other guests.
I'd probably give it another go, but at this stage it seems a bit flash, but without the substance.
D. R.
Chilled atmosphere, great food, excellent service
M. H.
Best Sunday lunch out i have ever had. Top marks
M. C.
Excellent food . but staff need perlite training in how to treat & talk to costumes..
N. J.
Very nice meal , thank you
C. H.
Lovely meal and fantastic service.. still need to adopt the rest of the world service of table drinks orders... Praying before you eat doesn't really encourage tips!
G. A.

Great food, great location, friendly staff. Definitely worth a trip
P. T.
Great quality food at reasonable prices. Staff pleasant and efficient. Avoid Friday if bad language offends as quiz master has a potty mouth.
Over all very good value and quality.
w. c.
Great service.
Food was excellent quality.
Leek and Ham Hock Pie was packed full of flavour. The bacon chop was also delicious too.
Highly recommended
C. O.
My husband myself and two friends came in for lunch today. The staff are really friendly, the food was hot and really tasty. We will be back. It was really busy. 241 on a Tuesday. Thank you.

Taken out for my birthday by my son and his girlfriend. Lovely place. Sat upstairs with a great view. Staff very friendly and attentive. Drink orders taken straight away. Food order very quickly. Great choice. Drinks menu excellent. Cannot fault anything. Will be back. Thank you for helping me to have a special day x
K. S.
Incredible food and amazing service. A slight communication hiccup between the wait staff and the kitchen caused a bit of a delay with our food but all the staff went completely above and beyond to rectify as soon as they were aware. Food was amazing (as always) and we’ll be back in a flash!
One of the best restaurants/pubs in the area.
M. H.
Hadn't been for awhile but decided to call and give it a try. I had the sea bass fillets and my wife had a chicken dish and we were very impressed with the food. Extremely tasty and the ambience was relaxed and the staff friendly and polite.
w.
I booked on line which was a simple and easy process. There was space in the large car parks. The views were very nice and the pub was warm on this cold January day. The cheese and onion pie was home made and very nice. The chips were disappointing and home made would have been nicer. We were offered a 2 4 1 deal on the main meals. Service was pleasant and quick. I’ve given 3*** simply because, for me, the barking dogs were irritating. There appeared to be an assortment of dogs.
D. M. (.
Excellent pub, good honest food, nice mix of traditional and something else for everyone. Lovely Sunday dinner!
B. W.
Food fantastic. Service not good enough. Food left off order, drinks order not given to bar. Price point is spot on for the offering if you can get a waitress that will put your order in. Such a shame as I had high hopes
d. m.
Another fabulous meal, staff were very attentive
R. O.
Great meal good attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere.
T. J.
Fabulous food and loved the ipa
D. S.
Happy to be eating out. Out out as it happens due to government restrictions.
6 family members. Table in the beer garden overlooking Freckleton Marsh. Stunning. And the sun was shining.
Excellent service, no long wait even though they were busy, limited garden menu but something for everyone. I particularly loved the halloumi fries starter. The sticky toffee pudding went down very well with everyone too. Everything was well presented and hot.
The garden would be even more atmospheric in the evening as they have beautiful lighting.
Everything was perfect.
Highly recommended
J. P.
Nice cosy pub off the beaten track but we'll worth finding if only to read about its history outside front door. Well kept beer is always a plus.
P. H.
Amazing pub-restaurant, we sat at the captain's table, the braised beef wellington was a solid 8/10 I will definitely have that again, it could have done will something between the pastry and the meat and the pastry could have been better but I am just being picky. I would have put 4.9 out of 5 cause they charged me £2 for some extra gravy. Service was great it was very clean and it has a car park. Thanks for a great lunch.
Update, I went again today with 5 others, what a great place, the service was even better and so was the food. All orders had tweaks and all orders were correct, it's the little things. Thanks again for a great lunch.
W. W.
Great night great meal 😋 👌 will definitely go back 👍 xx
K. L.
Great food and have two for one on Tuesdays.
S. L.
What a little gem tucked away at the back of the village, but seek it out, food service and drinks delicious
s. b.
With stunning views from the balcony this really is an incredible place. The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The service was welcoming, extremely attentive and friendly. Would have no hesitation to recommend and revisit.
t. h.
nice food and friendly staff.
we booked a table in advance and it seemed like a good idea as most of the other tables were reserved too.
it looks like they get quite busy.
A. P.
Went for lunch for first time. The building is lovely and inside is well laid out and tge decor is lovely. However, served by young girl who didnt say much and the food was average.
J. C.
New menu....Beef Wellington was excellent. Try it
J. S.
A beautiful place to eat and drink with lovely homemade food. Would definitely recommend this place. The staff were very friendly too. I will definitely be returning 😋😁
B. C.
Very accommodating...table booked was upstairs however as the toilets are downstairs and I struggle with mobility we were kindly moved downstairs to a different table...
Food was delicious...service superb and quick..couldn't fault it...and 2 4 1 on Tuesdays for main course...
Covid protocols in place and being adhered to....
C. M.
Good food and real ales available. Would like to see the reintroduction of "petite meals " even if only on selected items
P. H.
Loved it. Haven't been for 2 or 3 years. Schnitzel Burger was very nice.
A. S.
Food was great, dog friendly. However, we were unable to get a table till late despite there being many open tables when we arrived that did not get filled during our meal.
D. O.
1st visit after many years of intention. All I was told about it and better. Will be back.
A. S.
On the 5th Dec we treated our family of 10 to Sunday lunch ,what a wonderful time we had .

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Xxxxxx
J. B.
Fantastic meal and service. Staff really welcoming and food excellent.
K. W.
Really nice place, good food, however a little cold so food goes cold quickly
J. R. A.
First visit to the pub after being recommended. Ate here using the eat out to help out scheme. Service was great ! And the food was really nice But the food could have been hotter -It was only warm and the table was horrendously sticky!! We had to put our serviettes on the table to lean on and they stuck fast !!! Probably wouldn’t go again because of the tables but nice food and service. Maybe something that could be sorted.
M. J. R.
Absolute gem of a place and amazing Sunday roast
J. G.
15 of us went here for a 50th birthday.we had to book from a printed menu instead of the normal menu it was £22 for 2 course the menu we were sent didnt really have a lot of choice.the food was good but what really got to us was we were being charged more for what we had than the menu price ie prawn cocktail7.25.fish chips £13 yet we got charged £22 so for that reason they werent given a tip they made £18 in over charging.needles to say wont go back
I. B. -. A.
Really nice country pub, very welcoming and very dog friendly too, lovely beer garden really too, nice selection of ales and stuff, food was excellent, staff were really attentive too, would recommend a visit to anyone, and if in the area will definitely be back
J. B.
Nice pub, friendly staff and great food
C. R.
Lovely place. Very busy today, but service was relatively quick, food was fabulous and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Two years later, it's even better, excellent. It's a great place for a lovely meal.
G. W.
A fabulous Sunday roast been a couple of times now
K. F.
Food excellent, service abysmal. On a quiet lunchtime we waited 35 minutes for a starter of bread and hummus, and a further 35 minutes for our main course. Excuse given was short staffed on return from lockdown. We cancelled our booking for next week.
J. R.
What a lovely pub and restaurant. It's been refurbished to a really high standard and there are loads of lovely areas and lighting and decor is great. Service was really good and I had the fish pie which was gorgeous. Would love to go back in the summer also as it has outdoor seating which would be great. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food, great service, stunning views over the fields.
F. S.
Wonderful re-furb. Looks great,well done.
Had our first dinner in the new look "Ship" tonight.
Warm welcome received by friendly, smiley staff.
The food was brought to the table beautifully presented and hot. So many times have I received a meal that has been arranged like a work of art but upon first bite it was obvious that the careful positioning of the food had taken so long that most of it was cold before you had eaten half of your chosen dish.
Staff are efficient , fast and attentive. We were made to feel that it was important we had a nice evening and were happy with our meals.
Food was extremely tasty and the menu had a great selection to choose from.
Bravo to The Ship, for a lovely evening and a delicious dinner.
We shall return and will definitely recommend to anyone thinking of visiting The Ship to make a booking as this new gastro pub seems to be deservedly popular.
H. W.
We have been to The Ship at Freckleton a few times now. The food is always excellent and they employ young staff who are very good at their jobs. They are fun, friendly and helpful as well as efficient. It is one of our favourites.
S. T.

Not too busy early Saturday evening but filling up by 8pm. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly, helpful and quick service. Burgers with HUGE crunchy chips were excellent, as were chicken supreme and cheese and onion pie. Great view upstairs.

No point repeating what others have said. First visit. Really good.

Lovely food, friendly staff, reasonable price nice atmosphere. Unfortunately two of six meals were wrong. Order was quickly corrected without fuss but could have been 5 stars. Won't deter future visits and still recommended.

Best meal in the whole if August for us. Service food and setting perfect. Love The Eagle too but definitely our new favourite place X thank you
L. K.
Delicious meal at The Ship tonight. Great staff and would thoroughly recommend you pay a visit.
F.
Had the pleasure of eating here with my significant other, her sister and her sister's unsavoury boyfriend. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, professional staff. The food was tilting on the expensive side of life, though the quality of the food, staff and aesthetics of the premises where well worth the expense. I had the gammon, and it twas the best bit of pork I've had in and around my mouth since I was 11 and my uncle dave took liberties. I would highly recommend this establishment, and will deffinately being attending again. It's a shame my company was not as exquisite as the food, they will not be attending with me again, which I can say with assured safety.
C. B.
Beautiful place, lovely staff, nice food and good beer. Dog friendly. Gluten free options. Thanks for having us.
J. D.
Situated in Freckleton with views across fields, this is a pub as pubs used to be. A good selection of beers (by which I mean real ale) and an extensive menu ranging from snacks to a 3 course meal. There's seating outside. It's quite a large establishment but it was busy enough on our May Bank Holiday visit to make us glad we'd booked a table. Nice friendly staff.
I. H.
Really really nice pub, and great food
C. A.
Popped in for pint. Friendly welcome and farewell. Will be back soon.
T. S.

It was a very pleasurable visit. Calm although busy not rushed in any way. The food was to die for. John had roast beef dinner which rated as 2nd to none I had from the light bites/ starters section the salmon & smoked haddock.fishcakes plus thick chips ..delicious 😊... great meal ...couldn't fault it even if we tried. 😊
N. M.
Ate twice here on holiday at Donkey Creek camp site. Very friendly staff and excellent food
T. H.
Very nice looking place, the food is good too. I'm told you can see the Eurofighter fly over as it is on its flight path. The prices are a little high, but you get quality here.
S. S.
Lovely pub ,food was fantastic and really quite good price, views out the back stunning will be back
K. W.
First time at the Ship Inn. Sunday lunch was a delight. I had roast Beef with a stunning tasty Yorkshire pudding, extra gravy offered. Then finished by sharing plum&apple crumble with a creamy custard. An absolute joy.
P. H.
Great place to come watch the airplanes come and go from Warton. Food is excellent with doggie treats and great ales. Very out of the way, but worth a visit!
Update may 2022: still a great place to visit! Well worth it! 👍
J. M.

Food choice has gone up market. Staff from BAE liked the burgers, sandwiches etc on old menu but too expensive now. Carpet has seen better days. But good and staff are still excellent.

Lovely food, great staff, dogs allowed
G. O.
The setting for this pub is very good.
Some of the food is very good but the Sunday lunch is over priced and tasteless. An example of the over pricing saw us charged £3 for a small cappuccino.
P. W.
Great atmosphere with friendly staff and wonderful food. On the evening I was there they were having an outdoor move night, complete with wireless headphones. Great fun.
L. M.
The recent refurbishment has generated much interest but we meet to see if it is sustained. It also means more if a focus on food than beer which will suit some people but not everyone. So far so good
W. T.
Very good meal, good friendly staff
p. s.

Traditional pub with lots of parking, pub food and a great selection of drinks. Great location with lovely views of the Pennines and across the Ribble Valley, plus the added attraction of jet aircraft taking off and landing - the runway for the BAE Warton site is only a few hundred feet away.

Great food. It's gone down the gastropub route & prices have risen as you'd expect. That said, it's vast improvement on its previous incarnation.

Always a good meal and drink to be had here. Lovely scenery near by and a really good place to stop with dogs after a walk.

This is alright as a pub goes and is probably one of the more lively bars in Lytham, that is not pampering to the elite.. My only grudge with the place is its not too clean!
