C. C.I’m really impressed by this venue. The service has been excellent. Georgia has been very attentive and the the food, I can’t fault any of it. It was creative and tasty. Luckily I’m staying near by so I can look forward to coming back tomorrow.
P. P.Apologies if no picture...the ribeye I ordered was very good. I wanted rare and and I got rare. I ordered some side veg too...actually a double portion.
The food was really nice. Well cooked.
Venue was warm and cosy, music isn't too loud, so you can hear the ambient voices.
I picked my premier inn because of this place and I'm not disappointed.
Megan and Lindsay server me, and they were both friendly and warm welcoming.
I'd come back for sure.

N. D.Popped in for an unexpected visit with my husband and dog. I have some allergies and am vegetarian and the chef Paul and the lady who saw to us were really helpful and Paul created something for me that was safe but not on the weekend menu. They are very accommodating of pooches too with some water bowls and chilled water for us to help ourselves to and dog treats too. Quality of the food was very good, would definitely recommend.

E. G.Had a meal with my husband and parents and was served by Megan. She was so lovely, had lovely conversation and a laugh with her. She recommended a drink for me as I am heavily pregnant and it was beautiful! Highly recommend the flavoured soda (comes in a gin glass). Megan is a credit to the pub and has definitely made us want to continue to return! The food was beautiful and all came out in great time, didn't feel rushed, food was cooked by Terri. My husband also has a nut allergy which was no problem to sort. Always been a fabulous place to eat, thank you!
D. D.I visited with my friend for Dinner on the 23rd of April, the pub was busy but we were greeted quickly and with a smile. We had booked a table and seated quickly too. The menu is quite limited but the food quality Is very good, my friend and I both had fish and chips which were perfectly cooked by Paul, James and Ross and presented well. Our waitress for the evening was Shyla who was friendly, professional and attentive without being intrusive. We had a good night and will return in the future
R. S.We are a family of 5 who chose to meet at the Walton Fox as a convenient location for us all travelling. This was our first visit but we will certainly be back. Our servers Morgan and Rob (I think) were very friendly attentive and efficient. We had starters mains deserts and coffee and everything was delicious, and nicely presented with generous portions. Thank you to the team. Liked the decor and layout of the restaurant and as one of our party was a wheelchair user it was nice to be able to navigate around the building without having to be bumped up and down steps!
g. g.Absolutely delightful place with both a wonderful exterior and a beer garden situated to capture the afternoon and evening sun. Small but superb menu highlighted by the best Thai curry I've ever had cooked by chef Serif and presented by the very helpful Aiten. Have eaten here several times in the past three months and have been impressed on every occasion. On a Sunday a roast menu replaces the normal menu and I can thoroughly recommend the veggie dish, though friends have equally complimented their meat selections.

P.We've been here twice recently, once just my boyfriend and I, and the second time we brought our families to show them how great it is. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food; staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble; all in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We're already planning to bring our friends too :)

A. S.We were a party of 13 on a Tuesday night, we all had 3 courses and drinks. The pub was full but we were very well looked after. No noticeable delays between courses. Megan was very attentive. Will definitely return!

Had a fabulous family meal today, Ash and the rest of the staff were simply great, made the whole experience even better, Thank you. The food cooked by Paul and Sarah, was wonderful and the whole thing value for money.

The service was a little slow to begin with. We were told our drinks order would be taken shortly to give us time to decide but after 10 mins we had to go and seek out the server to take our order. It was very quiet too as it was only 5pm.
J. G.I have a garlic and chilli allergy. Our server Megan was SO good, SO CAREFUL. We would like to thank her for taking exceptionally good care of me. Yes, I know it is your company policy to do so, but Megan went over and above . She is a superb asset to your restaurant.

S. T.Came in for a Sunday dinner with my friend, was greeted by the manager who sat us down in Megan’s section who looked after us. She was so attentive, smiley and bubbly. Had the crispy Camembert starter which is honestly one of the best things I’ve had anywhere! The turkey Sunday dinner was amazing, cooked by Kyle and serif. A big shout out to Shyla also who was lovely and gave us drinks recommendations and couldn’t be more helpful. Cannot wait to return, what a great first visit!

A. S.I’m staying close by so called in this evening for dinner. I had the vegetarian Penang Curry, it was very tasty, would highly recommend Paul’s cooking. Service by Megan was excellent, very friendly and helped with choosing wine. I will be visiting again!

The company who owns it, doesn't cater well for gluten and dairy free. Unnecessary gluten and dairy added to vegetables and desserts.

M. S.Myself and my little girl loved our visit here for lunch. We were given a table right next to the fire which was great, and both the food and service were excellent, along with a really nice pint of Doom Bar. It was our first visit but definitely won't be our last!

D. N.The food was excellent as I had one of the best gammon steaks i've had for a long time. Even my wife said her meal was excellent with her chicken & smoked pancetta pie with mash and vegetables. In fact the meal was so good we decided to have pudding that was equally as good, I can thoroughly recommend the Amaretti and Eton Mess. With a very good service as well, we will definitely be back as the atmosphere was great also and this despite being reasonably busy. 5*

P. K.Food isn't bad, and certainly arrived quickly. Shame that roasts were unavailable and a pretty limited menu to pick from. Staff were friendly enough, and the pint was welcome after a VERY long, slow drive.
M. C.We ordered pizza which was served on ceramic log which was chipped. The triple cooked chips were greasy {I've had them before not greasy}. The salad was OK but minimal. And.... The menu isn't cheap.

E. W.Average pleasant late lunch with an old friend and business colleague. The menu was extensive and not unreasonably-priced for 2022 in a prime location. We chose the light lunches of toasted bloomer with fish goujons and with chicken, a very little avocado and wholegrain mustard. Both came with skin-on fries that were a fraction hard in the middle. Staff were smart, welcoming and helpful.

Table number not clear on table had to ask where to look. 40 minute wait for food. It was 8pm so they weren't busy. Food really nice. Got up and left. No goodbye.

Staff however need someone to teach them how to smile. Wasnt welcomed on arrival. Had to go to them to ask where to sit. Was walked to seat with a woman who, in all honesty hates her job. Wasnt busy but took over 20mins to take our food order. Never offered another drink. Tried to make humor and smile with staff but this was like teaching a newborn baby how to stand up and walk.
Would come again for food if i was in the area like today but on staff alone, i wouldnt.

There only area of disappointment was the price of the drinks as well as the additional add ons, they added a further £20 to the bill. Other than this the food was perfect

I was going to eat but was completely put off by one thing...I very rarely give below four stars...the waitress who served us at the bar began with a very disinterested welcome, very. She then proceeded to tell us in a surly manner that she was tired. This then descended into contempt and mumbled one word answers, which culminated in a desrisory, almost seething "yeah!" when I asked politely for a further pint.
I also observed the disinterested, almost annoyed fashion in which she dealt with other patrons.
I dont think I'll ever go in again after that and will inform my colleagues to that efect, which is a shame as I and others will be staying for at least 30-40 nights at the premier in over the next couple of months
Please, Walton Fox, feel free to look at my history of reviews. I hope you will see I'm a fair, if not overly polite reviewer....I honestly remember the last poor review I gave but I just couldnt let this one pass

On the first visit, I had the vegetarian burger with sweet potato fries - everything was excellent and I would definitely return for this meal. On the second occasion, I had the steak and mushroom pie which was a bit of a disappointment; it came in a huge pot with puff pastry, the contents were disappointing - very little relatively speaking compared to the size of the dish / amount of pastry and just not *that* amazing either.
On both occasions though, certain dessert items have been out of stock which is annoying.

The staff very friendly and helpful. My work colleagues had arranged the meal as I was getting married and they let her put up bunting and paperbacks. Even made the napkins into flowers. The food was lovely. Something for everyone. They had a vegan/ vegetarian menu. Would definitely go again. We all enjoyed it.

The barman was quick to wipe down a table for us and explained that if we were eating in the bar as opposed to the restaurant we would need to order the food at the bar. I ordered a nut roast and hubby opted for beef Sunday roast. Both came in no time at all and very well presented. The food was delicious and trust me, my oh does not give out compliments about food very often! But he thoroughly enjoyed it and stated it was the best pub Sunday roast he had tasted in a long time! Praise indeed. The place is clean, food served quickly and was delicious, price was very competitive. I would definitely recommend and will be going again very soon.

I dont mind waiting for the food as it is worth the wait, but waiting for more than 30mins just to place the order i find very frustrating. Nevertheless the team are happy and once our order was placed, were relatively attentive.

However we visited again last night and we were so glad it was just us as the meal and the service was a little "lacking" to say the least. The waitress was yawning most of the time and the vegan menu was not as good and my husband who loves the vegan food there left most of it. We were quite disappointed last night as it appears that things aren't consistent, I wish we had kept a note of the days we visited to compare.

The staff struggled with the electronic technology in use. I couldn't understand why the pub and restaurant was reasonably busy. Generally OK but I wouldn't rush back anytime soon.

M. C.Nice homely atmosphere, friendly staff. Unfortunately, the food was a little disappointing. Both of the pie fillings were limited in terms of quantity (i.e. the pies were only half full), mash potato was over cooked and too dry, the vegetables were ok, but few in number. The deserts were a lot better and Apple and rhubarb crumble was served in a generously sized dish and tasted delicious. Overall, a disappointing visit and I would not recommend the food, especially if you are hungry or looking for good value.

10mth since last visit. Refurbishment finished. Glad it's kept the rustic charm for a big place it's surprising intimate. Food was excellent and I got a heart shaped steak! Pure fluke I believe. Thanks for a nice peaceful and unrushed meal.

However, £18 for a rib eye steak that was thinner than the ham slices on friends plates is just wrong. Especially bad as I wanted it medium rare and there's little chance of that on such a poor cut of meat. Disappointing.

In the last few years there has been a significant improvement in both the food quality and service which is good to report back.
The meal 2/3 course meal with bottle.of wine for £ 25 provides reasonable value with some enjoyable dishes and good wines to choose from
The beer garden provides an unexpected oasis with the pub being located just 100 metres from a major roundabout! The pub welcomes dogs also.
It's very cosy in winter and festive at Christmas.
It still isn't outstanding and the real ales are not kept well so always opt for a Lager/Cider/Guiness if wanting a beer, but it's a great choice if staying in the next door Premier Inn or looking for a stop off while travelling on the nearby motorways etc

The Walton Fox is located in Bamber Bridge next to the Premier Inn Preston South-Craven Drive and directly opposite the Premier Inn Preston South-Cuerden Way however if staying at these hotels and you have a car I would recommend venturing further field if looking for dining options. The Walton Fox is the worse of the on site pubs so if you are looking for a quick drink I would go across the road-ironically that pub is a 2 for £ 10 pub whereas The Walton Fox is part of the Vintage Inn's brand-Mitchell & Butler's Traditional British country pub brand-so should be the better of the 2 options!
The reason for this is mainly due to the fact that, in my opinion, the food served at The Walton Fox is consistently of poor quality and is well over priced.
The food appears to be frozen/microwaved and the waiting staff also seem uninterested and not trained to the expected standard.
It's a shame as the actual pub atmosphere is quite cosy with real log fires offering warmth in the winter months. The bar staff are more friendly but even for drinks only the pub is let down by poorly conditioned real ales-the drinks are also expensive for this type of location.
There is a beer garden which is actually a lovely location for sitting out in the summer months with a beer-the beer garden is only a few hundred feet away from a major roundabout and motorway junction however it is bizarrely relaxing sat outside enjoying a cold beer.
That is about the only time that I would consider joining friends, family or colleagues and certainly not for food-perhaps a quick drink as an exception if chosen by others as a starting point.
On my last visit the immediate seating area around the bar was busy so I chose a table in the near-empty restaurant-it was about 5 pm on a Friday afternoon. Note that the tables were not particularly laid out very formally-just cutlery in a pot and table mats-and there were no reservation signs. A waitress approached me to take my order and I advised that I was just in for a drink-and I had already purchased this from the bar-she promptly requested me to leave the table and take a seat in the bar area!
There are no signs advising that the area is for dining only-I suggest these are put out if this is the case.
Based on my already dim view of the establishment this has put me off even further-the opposite pub offers a better option for a quick drink.
I haven't been to another Vintage Inn's location for over a year but I usually find them good for casual dining and quiet drinks and the Mitchell & Butler's portfolio usually offers a diverse range of eating and drinking options so I hope the management and corporate take note and look to make improvements!
The pub has potential to be a good pub restaurant and I am sure more local people would come if things improved increasing weekend and holiday trade when the hotels are usually quieter with business travellers who automatically just rock up due to the proximity of the pub to the hotels and the fact a lot will be in expenses.
In the meantime there are much better eating and drinking options in the area.

Last night, my 84 year old mother was traveling home to Blackpool from Leyland where she had been seeing friends when she broke down, this was distressing enough for her but then noticed her mobile phone was flat so had no way of communication, having seen an elderly lady in distress Ian stopped to see if he could help, took it upon himself to call her breakdown company, WAITED WITH HER FOR 40 MINUTES til they turned up, then when he found out the car couldn't be fixed at the roadside, TOOK MY MUM HOME TO BLACKPOOL, (where she found out where he worked and about his family etc), amazing in my eyes.
Can you please let me know when Ian is next working so I can come and personally thank him, reimburse his fuel costs, as he refused to take any money off my mother and buy him a big drink, If all your staff are like this you run a sensational place,
