Reviews of The Wheatsheaf Woodplumpton
C. J.
Is this a hidden gem or a local treasure? The pub itself has been a local main stay for years and now has new ownership which does not disappoint. It felt like a personal service with a smile and conversation with the food being absolutely delicious and filling. Would definitely recommend reserving a table in advance 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Absolutely stunning food first time here great service amazing food very tempted to lick the plate clean sooo good 🥰
S.
Pie and chips was great.
Also do decent gluten free options.
Very reasonable prices.
Good traditional pub!

.........been going there for years. Only just returned after Covid . Sadly Pete and his wife have retired . New landlady Kelly. Very friendly and welcoming but needs to calm down a little to be more of a quieter reassuring presence. Good to see some old locals there . Me and my dad had the Gammon Egg Chips etc.
Took an hour to come though !!! Chef lost our ticket !!!! The ordering system needs a review obviously. When it did arrive it was wonderful quality....but missed the little bits Pete's wife added...bit of salad mushrooms and an onion ring .
Kelly did apologise profusely and gave us a free drink ....Thanks
Lots of potential though wish you would do the ladies toilets up ....very shabby and smelly old carpet . Will returns dad lots of memories of there. thx

First time i’ve eaten here and it won’t be the last for sure. An absolutely delicious homemade pie and chips, a perfect pint of Theakstons bitter, a cosy atmosphere plus a very warm welcome from landlord Pete and his staff made for a lovely early evening out. Would recommend without hesitation.
J. T.
Food not up to much. Thanks for your response Peter. You need to objectively review your Sunday roast and lasagne. You have a lovely pub with nice staff and you yourself come across well. Unfortunately the two meals i mentioned are well under par. The potatoes were virtually burned to a crisp, you only provided one small gravy boat for two roast dinners and the gravy was very thick, the other veg were plain and soggy. The lasagne only had one layer of pasta and was therefore more akin to a dish of Bolognese. I'm not out to make your life difficult Peter and i wish you every success so i will delete this review in a couple of days. But please get serious about your commitment to food quality. John

Great village pub with good, wholesome value for money menu, which has great tasting dishes. Can't say anything about the beer because we regularly stop off on our way home, and I'm the driver. My wife enjoys the white wine and looks forward to the mushroom starter every time. All topped off by friendly, helpful staff.
D. H.
New landlord as of the 17th March 2022 Pete and Ness did there last night yesterday the 12th March 2022 hope the new tenants will be able to make as good a job👍

Best pub in local area. Old school village pub. Clean tidy not chain pubbed, still has loads of character and charm. Great simple food , well kept beer, lovely out door area and best service in local area . Cannot fault this place , my family go at least once per week for food, often more.

Very lovely meal. Had the chicken tikka. Big portion. They did half rice half chips for me which was very good of them. Would definitely return. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal xx

Stopped for a drink early Saturday evening after a walk. Told had stopped serving food which seemed a bit strange. Very dated inside, obviously locals sat at bar. Went to sit in beer garden as glorious day, however where beer garden is meant there was no Sun in it, bit disappointing.
J. C.
Lovely meal .Nice staff. Warm and Comfortable. Dog Friendly. Perfect ...
A. C.
Just had a delicious Sunday roast with friends, in front in a cosy open fire, served by exceptionally friendly and very helpful staff. The roast dinner was beautiful with the most tender roast beef and fresh vegetables. The desert menu was a choice of proper puddings - our apple and blackberry crumble was lovely. Would highly recommend.
B. R.

The Wheatsheaf is a welcoming country pub in the heart of Woodplumpton, Preston. Traditional pub with a nice restaurant which is availble from menu with a roaring open fire. Serving traditional food. Service welcoming and quick with the food piping hot. If it is your thing a selection of traditional ale is available. Disabled toilets and access facilities available. Spacious car parking and disabled car parking available in the car park area. Beer garden access.
Booking required for meals. Opens at 12pm.

Had the pleasure of meeting Ness and Peter who have the wheatsheaf, we used the pub for a family wedding and decorated it for the do. What lovely people they are so friendly ,kind and hard working. Even though they were busy getting ready to open up both helped and gave us the freedom to do what we liked . Ness did the buffet which was wonderful the food was amazing , can't wait to go in for lunch thank you both so much for making the bride and grooms day perfect.
