e. D.The pub is alright. The atmosphere is ok as well. The stuff helpful and friendly. Plenty of sport to watch. Some good snack and drink available. Just bathrooms need more attention from time to time. Often lack of toilet rolls in th dispensers, a bit of dust as on th picture. It is a good place to spend time.
G. O.Incredible venue! Some friends and I came here as the capstone to a day out and the serving tender that evening, Adam, was both incredibly hospitable and welcoming to us. After I left my things there, he immediately scooped them up and when I returned today to grab my things, everything was there! Fantastic service and an immaculate pub.
n. b.Did the "unlimited brunch". Don't remember much, apart from the service was outstanding, the food was excellent and the drinks went down just a little too easily!
Atmosphere started off quiet as we were the first in there, gradually becoming more boisterous, but never drowned out by music

Great place for a night out and definitely a worthy stop for any pub crawl.

N. K.Amazing place with great drinks and food. We spent an entire afternoon chilling in the pub. Staff is very friendly. Social distance is maintained very well. Tables are placed in good distance. They have gatherings during various sports event, huge tellys are placed throughout the place.

This has now been sorted, jumping them from 1 to 4 stars, for good beer and friendly staff. I’m sure we’ll visit again!
Avoid this place for food. We went in on a quietly Sunday and ordered some ‘cauliflower wings’ and a couple of mains. After receiving the wings (see picture) after a 45 minute wait, we decided to after for put money back. After seeing the picture, the manager agreed to issue a refund with no argument, we were notified we would be refunded in 3-5 days.
After over a week with no refund, we popped in for a drink to let them know we had not received. They told us we would be contacted by head office to sort it. We’ve since been in again to complain of not being contacted, and have been told that they will chase.
In fairness, the staff are nice and beer selection is very good. However they get 1 star due to the food and the way the refund issue has been handled. No customer should have to wait more 3 weeks for a refund, it should be dealt with there and then, and then sorting it out should be an internal matter.
A. T.My go to place in town to drink. As a smoker the outside area is absolutely perfect for a night out. Completely sheltered from the rain with outdoor heaters. Can even use an app for your drinks to be brought to you.
When at the bar there is a large selection of spirits, price wise its no more expensive than anywhere else. The bar staff are always so friendly and helpful.
The boundary is a well maintained place to visit, clean and friendly. 100% would recommend.

L. G.Went for the first time since it changed hands from pavlovs to the bowery and honestly between the staff and the quiz they hold I've never felt more welcome at a pub. Wholeheartedly recommend the place. If you are unsure trust me just try the place it's great place from the atmosphere to the crowd

A. T.Popped in for a late lunch today, staff were friendly and ensured we scanned the Covid barcode before showing us a table.
Currently orders are being done by the MyPub app which a lots of pubs are using which is ok (could do with pics against the food as a would be nice feature)
Good selection of beers including Camden Hell's (my go-to when I find it)
Ordered a sharing platter which was really nice, everything hot and tasty. The sausages were meaty and the chicken tenders and wings were not dried out.
Will definitely go again to work through more of the menu.
UPDATE 8/3/22: Now that things have returned to normal it's nice to see how lively to the pub is, still great for this looking for decent beer and food, a bit of background sport on the various TV's,but still be able to hold a conversation.

S. L.I love the facts that there's a good variety of food options including vegetarian/vegan options and deals. Especially as you can't go wrong with a 2 for 1 cocktails. The staff where nice and the venue was pretty chilled and had a nice vibe to it.
I ordered the cauliflower wings and a beef burger. The wings where flavorsome and not soggy at all which is sometimes a thing when ordering fried veg, but not here. The beef burger was so juicy and better then i was expected! also came as a burger and drink deal which was even better. 100% will come here again.

S. S.Went for Bottomless Brunch. The prosecco was delicious. The breakfast range in offer was limited but excellent. We had traditional English. Great value for money. But the best bit about it was the lovely friendly staff
S. I.We booked a table for a friend's birthday for the evening of July 23rd, and I could not be more impressed with the level of service. Three bar staff - Hannah, Jess and Jemma - were exceedingly friendly and welcoming, quick with service and always with a smile (which isn't necessary but always nice!). The other staff (whose names I don't know) were also superb - quick, polite, welcoming, the whole shebang. The food, also, was brilliant - the moving mountains burger was very tasty! Kudos to the cooks.
We'll done to all, if management read this the staff all deserve some form of financial boone for their work,especially as they gave up their own "Freedom Friday"! As an ex hospo worker, I'm too aware of staff not getting recognition when they do an excellent job, and I really hope that doesn't happen. Impressed with everything there, will certainly be back!
J. S.This place used to be our go to for the football in Reading when it was Pavs but unfortunately we need to find somewhere new! Used to have a dual screen at the back and serve interesting pub grub with burger specials every month and a range of interesting table sauces like katsu and some fancy bbq varieties to flavour things up. Now they can't get amazon prime to work, the food takes about 40 minutes to arrive and is as dry as a bone, and the only sauces available are the bog standard ketchup and mayo. Just very average, whereas it used to have that bit extra to make it stand out.
J. 1.Visited for first time since it changed from Pavlovs Dog and it looks a lot more polished now. Plenty of well new and better placed screens than before.
Now to my personal experience- I ordered a drink & unsurprisingly it was not available so I had to choose something else (it's a running theme for me, so may be just more down to bad energy surrounding me than their supply/availability issue). The young lady was nice and was a regular transaction.
Went to order food a bit after and saw a different staff member. He didn't seem as positive as the lady and didn't seem too sure on a question I asked about my order, but he could've been new. I ordered the angry hash burger, which supposed to come with stilton and Cajun fries....and in typical me-getting-screwed-over fashion - the fries were bog standard and there was no stilton.
I would've flagged this issue, however the obligatory 1 minute courtesy check never came. I was hungry so I just ate it.
Don't know if the regular chef was on holiday, but whoever's cooking should familiarise themselves with the menu or customers should be informed of something is not available.
J. L.Well priced food and great selection of boxed ciders. I ate an Angry Hash burger which was lovely. I declined ice with my cider but wish I'd opted for it. The bar staff were friendly.

R. H.Will forever be Pav's in my heart and honestly I can't tell what has changed. With Covid this probably isn't the best venue in town with limited outdoor seating and quite a cramped bar area but it gets the stars for a great atmosphere and cracking memories.

Waited 25 minutes for two drinks to arrive having ordered at the bar (using the app was proving a bit painful). When we chased this up we discovered my beer choice wasn't available even though the order had been taken. At least one other beer was also unavailable on the menu, leaving the selection pretty limited.
I appreciate things aren't easy in current times, however, so some accommodation is made for this in the three star rating.
