A. S.Excellent choice of Gluten Free options on the menu. Good quality food and drinks. Service was slow, but this might have been caused by staffing problems due covid absences and the final day of the Royal Ascot meeting.
D. P.Always nice to come for a visit here. I would have given 5 stars but the menu was misleading. I chose the delicious braised shoulder of lamb and ordered buttered veg to go with it but it came with veg along with the potato and mint cake thing. The waitress didn't seem to know what it came with and the menu didn't list that it included veg so purchased the veg which weren't necessary. It won't stop me coming again but I will be mindful to quizz the waitress more before placing my order.
A. L.Overall great experience. My partner really enjoyed the 0% Heineken option (his favourite non alcoholic beer) and the house Prosecco was great too.
Perfectly battered fish and chips. Delicious, well seasoned quiche- the best quiche I’ve had in years. A little bit of dressing on the side would be a nice touch and if I’m honest, I’m not so keen on grapes in salad.
Overall I wholeheartedly appreciate the classic pub style food/vibe. The Horse and Groom is unique and inviting. Loved the ambience, friendly service and the staff accommodating our pup. Would love to return when the interior reopens- what a beautiful pub. Thank you.

c. H.What a fantastic gem of a place. From the off, we were made to feel welcome by friendly staff with no faults but to continuesly be at hand to make a family evening amazing. Superb food, great atmosphere, and an evening that we shall all remember. With four young children and one dietary requirement (fish allergy) all were catered for with ease from both the waiting and kitchen staff, who also helped with last minute change of mind from the children. A great selection of starters and mains with separate desert menu to choose from. I can honestly recommend the game pudding (main) with medley of greens and mash potato.
A fantastic family friendly pub with great food and we look forward to retuning again soon.
B.Nice cosy pub. They have some lovely choice of beers/larger on tap... I had the Braised shoulder of lamb roast, cooked to perfection, meat was falling off the bone. Will be visiting again in summer ..
P. W.You know a place is well liked when you have to call a few days ahead to get a table for Sunday lunch .. we ended up having Sunday supper instead. Quality of the beef was very good indeed with requests for pink beef and not so pink handled impeccably.
Good wine choice with some excellent value managers specials.
Very comfortable surroundings and genuinely friendly staff make this a very popular pub restaurant.

Crispy chilli beef (both starter and with salad as a main) and venison loin highly recommended. The desserts were yummy too.

R. L.I enjoyed a lovely meal here last week with some work colleagues. The atmosphere was very friendly and the service was quick and politely delivered. We had an overseas visitor with us so choose to order a range of starters for the table which proved to be great idea. The baby squid were the star of the show followed closely by the halloumi fries.
Everyone's mains were served together despite one of our party arriving late so we were all able to eat together. I choose the Brazilian Fish Stew which was very fresh and tasty.
Although we were struggling to make room we all decided to have dessert too! I opted for a small pud and coffee which was just enough to round off a delicious meal! I wish I'd have taken a photo. I've attached some of the other yummy puddings instead!
We are planning to return next weekend to join the Pub Dog Walk on Saturday morning!
J. M.We love coming to The Horse & Groom. We've never had a bad meal or drink and there is always a great atmosphere no matter what day of the week you visit. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and there is a lovely garden to the rear to enjoy in the summer. Highly recommend a visit.
PS please put Ham, Egg and chips back on the menu - it was always my favorite!
R. E.This is a lovely, large and very popular restaurant. We went on a Wednesday night and it was extremely busy with only a couple of tables free. The menu was nicely broad, covering two sides of A4, with daily changes. The kind I'd food available is a good mixture of old classics extremely well done and slightly fancier dishes. My party of four all loved our food; my blue cheese, vegetarian pie was amazing. The portions are so large I was glad I'd reluctantly decided against a starter, as I wouldn't have finished my main had I eaten anything before.
The only downside of this place is the noise levels. I'm not sure why it's so bad and what they can do about it but we couldn't hear each other over a table for four.

We turned up early a party of seven for lunch, the first thing that hits you is the decor strictly oldie worldly not tacky but just right, the staff are friendly and helpful the menu is varied and caterers for all tastes. We were not hurried in finishing our meal, food is excellent and generous in the portions, staff are wonderful, definitely worth another vist.

J. M.The food was delicious. I would recommend the vegetarian Malaysian curry - lots of different vegetables with a creamy coconut milk sauce with just the right amount of chilli. There is a good children's menu as well. Service was fantastic and surroundings were comfortable and welcoming. The garden is also lovely.

The only strange thing was they made us pay for our meal and then pay separately for coffees. It appears it's too complicated for them to add the coffees to our food bill because we went outside. What more could you ask for? We visited in times of Covid so sanitizer, one way system, table service only but really no impact to usual lovely experience.
M. S.We had a five star experience from start to finish. I was very impressed with the Covid measures in place, we were greeted personally and the procedures explained. It all felt very safe. The staff were very friendly and professional, they were all wearing visors. The food was excellent too. All in all a very safe, enjoyable experience, thank you.

E. V.Simply my favourite pub in Berkshire. Always a warm welcome, great range of food and drinks on offer (including an extensive gin menu), plus outdoor space too to soak up the sunshine.
K. M.The guy on the front desk was not polite. The portions of food were soooo little, it looks miserable on the big plate. Why not to boil 30gr, more of linguini. It's so cheap. I found pictures of me and my friends at the same place sitting at the table with our meals in 2017 and the difference is huge.

A. B.This is a regular haunt of ours, central meeting place for girlfriends. Nearly always busy, worth booking on any night of the week, good pub food and they do an especially nice job with fish. The burgers are home made and very filling, staff usually lovely and helpful. My only criticism would be if you order a salad dish, they are slightly on the small side. The lighter bites are good and you could always add chips or greens to make it a full meal. Good choice of wine, happy customers.

Good selection of food, with several non-meat/fish options, although the menu doesn't actually state Vegetarian or Vegan. The place itself is a nice little pub and the food is on the whole good but I echo the sentiments of one reviewer who notes the choices as being a bit limited. The menu could do with more regular refreshing. Otherwise very good. Staff also very friendly.

a.Beautiful pub/restaurant within a wonderful setting. Very spacious inside as well as having a front and back garden for drinks or food in the sun. Good selection of beers, ciders, ales, gin and other spirits. The food here is served quick and is of excellent quality. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone.
S. S.I love this place. I usually visit with a friend after work, but this time, took Mum and Dad for a Sunday roast. We all agreed that it is the best Sunday roast in the area. Generous portions, good choice of beers and wines, plenty of parking and lovely, friendly waiting staff. Great pub.

• After paying a chunk of a group bill on a card and including a 10% tip, a member of staff tried to take more of the payment for the tip (20%) than I had agreed.
• We were incorrectly charged for an adult meal instead of a child’s.
• We accidentally left our daughter’s spoon behind however the staff could not find it.... anywhere.

G.Food was excellent as always, but service was rather poor, especially towards the end of our meal - it took over 20 minutes for the waitress to take dessert order, which she tried to do across another table, and she then slammed my cheesecake down over my shoulder, rather than coming round to the table. Did not check if everything was alright during the meal either, and it wasn't a particularly busy evening . Disappointing

H. D.Best covid safe I've experience I've had so far! All staff are wearing visors and keeping distance. You need to give your contact details at the door for Track & Trace, which has been a worryingly absent procedure from most pubs and restaurants I've been to. One way system, multiple hand sanitising stations etc. Menus and the covid guidance notes are all disposed of and recycled after one use. Food was good, not mind-blowing, but good pub food. All in all a very good experience- thank you! :)
