Stopped here to rest & have a cup of coffee after a nice walk around South Lake. Ordered Americano & a slice of Cheesecake. Coffee was mediocre tasting but the cheesecake was excellent 🍰 The restaurant seating outside is great during the summer. Service usually of non-halal food & drinks, so can not judge the food. Service is superb & staff are super friendly.

But the staff is what made it, just so nice and genuine nothing was too much bother really nice to chat to, great service always making sure we had everything really attentive even though it was quite busy they were always smiling just fantastic! I visited twice this year. The food was good and delicious. A little bit too less for the price which i paid. The staff were professional and i felt welcomed there. Few days i spent time with my friends for few drinks and the staff were very understanding for what we wanted.

Last visited this place when it was known as The Thatcher's. 1st time we have been back for probably 14yrs. It's very nice inside and out, clean and well decorated. Not a huge menu on the Website but there was a separate Pizza menu, a Specials board and separate dessert menu. The staff seemed nice and bar service was good. Although we didn't eat, the food coming out the kitchen looked really nice. The only downside was that there were a few families letting their children run around screaming and shouting. In fairness this was there local not ours so we had no reason to complain, we just chose to leave. Will def go back for food the next time we visit Woodley.

Lovely place, came here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration dinner. Beautiful atmosphere, polite staff, ample parking front and rear of the venue. Outside area for smokers, separate sections which you can reserve for a more intimate and semi private seating area. Really lovely 🌹

A very smart looking building that has reopened as a gastropub recently. The food was very good, we had the carvery and it was a bit more upmarket than a Toby. The place was quite busy and so it was a tad slow but not horribly so. They have a lot of open space and so it may be good for BBQs in the summer.

I've been here a few times when visiting my daughter who lives in the area. Nice traditional sort of pub with good food and great service. There are also tables outside in the garden area at the back away from the road. Always a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend.

Went for a Roast but was too late- not sure how that works on a Sunday. Decided to save the planet and had a moving mountains burger but made the mistake of not checking and getting the dodgy vegan mayo - bad choice. Very pleasant place with nice staff and good outside area. Lovely decor and beautiful pub. Stands out in the area its in. As my gran would say "the best drinkers are the thirsty ones"

Food 8/10 Decor & atmosphere 5/10 Staff 9/10 Drink 1/10 Price 5/10 Covid safe protocol 8/10 Booked a last minute table on Saturday night for a date night meal online and was over all very pleased. My partner and I ordered Fish & chips, onion rings, Mac and cheese, pineapple juice. Portion sizes were large with plenty of sauce, a big cod and absolutely massive chips... (see attached photo)! Presentation was nice too. Food had plenty of flavour to it and was not greasy. Food arrived promptly - probably 20/25 minutes after ordering which is to be expected with Covid problems. Mac and cheese was disgusting with very cheap greasy cheese ingredients however. Decoration of the pub is nice. It’s a big building with warm colours and nice furniture. Wood burners with cured logs add a winters feel to the place. The lighting is a bit odd in the ceiling, pointing onto walls exposing ugly wires and brackets because it’s too bright to point down. And despite being in the middle of the pub there was a subtle icy draft keeping me a couple of degrees out of the comfort zone. Also the music was on just a little too loud too - I wasn’t shouting over it but it wasn’t ambient either. There were some old grease stains on the wall by our table. Finally the external building could do with a bit better lighting - drove past it and was unclear where to park and enter. Staff were lovely, attentive, and explained the e-ordering and payment system well, with smart attire and a smile. Covid protocol was well followed with masks and no touching of cutlery and glasses. Man manning check-in could have done with a better mask than his shawl though. We ordered 2 pineapple juices and they were awful. It was cheap, from concentrate and sour. £3 when it probably came from a 40p carton. Served with a lime wedge, the flavours contrasted rather than complimented. But then really pubs are for drinking in not juicing so perhaps just the wrong choice there as a designated driver. 2 meals, 2 sides and 2 soft drinks came to £40. Food was priced well but disappointed such cheap juice cost £6 together. Over all I would probably come back again 6/10 times.

Good place for an informal family get together. We ate in the pub garden, which has plenty of space for children to run around, and a climbing frame and slide, (not suitable for very young children). The food was good and the staff were very helpful. Also look out for the best footballing dog ever!!! Thanks to the weather and the staff for an enjoyable family celebration.

It's a lovely pub with an outside seating arrangements and a play equipment for children. We enjoyed our meal and the staff were very friendly. The only thing one has to be careful about while ordering online is to write in the comment section, for any additional requirements like well done or rare steak or so on.

The Waterside is set next to a beautiful lake in the heart of Woodley. The exterior is made up of an amazing thatched roof and interior is decorated with style and prestige. The staff are kind and forever rushing for your every need. Food is great value for money and if you enjoy Nachos & baby back ribs you will have the best in Woodley!

The ONLY reason I’m not giving a full five stars is, our table for two was a bit narrow and we were very close to the people next to us. Sorry for being so pedantic but I am OCD about space. We were staying nearby for a course and were not too impressed with the hotel offering so headed here. The building was very picturesque, the staff lovely and the food absolutely delicious! Even though it was quite quiet at the end of January the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. They even brought me ice cream and fruit with a candle in for my birthday when I didn’t order dessert for them to put a candle in! Overall a lovely evening. Thank you!

Fantastic family friendly pub/restaurant in the heart of Woodley, on the banks of Southlake. The big garden is great, with plenty of social distanced seating, both on the lawn and under the heated covered area. The food always hit the spot. The pizza's are worth a special mention!!

Came for a birthday meal and really enjoyed the food. The ribs and chicken were well cooked and the chunky chips were just the right combination of crunchy and fluffy. Maria and Ryan both took very good care of us, they were very friendly and accomodating. Certainly will come back soon.

Been there once, now it's changed, not too bad, had to use their app to order food and drinks, couldn't tell you what the price was like as my brother paid and I couldn't read his face and wouldn't tell me, so go and check it out, looks so much better since it's been refurbished, kid friendly too, so while the suns out and the kid's are off take them round the lake and stop at the waterside for refreshments or lunch or just a breather.

The pub is in a nice location. On initial entry it seems like a locals drinking pub but it has a nice restaurant area as well. We had pie, fish and chips, chicken and nachos and everything was delicious. The waitresses were really friendly with good service. Will return

The food is great but the staff are inconsistent over the policy on track and trace. They have refused us service twice due to us not having the track & trace app. Sometimes they take our details manually, other times they refuse to do it. They just need to be clear about this when you book.

This is an outstanding South African owned gastro pub in the heart of Woodley. Gone are the old, run down sticky floors and billiards tables, replaced with good quality furnishings and even better food. Highly recommended!

Lovely look to this pub now - definite improvement on the decor. Disappointed with the beer selection though - notes craft beer but, and I know it depends on your definition, I couldn't see any.... Three hand pumps and a couple of kegs so could be worse... Would like to see some Meantime, Siren, Brewdog, Beavertown for example. Something more interesting anyway.

food was poor unfortunately this time. i had a panko coated brie one was fully emptied so that means it was fried to long in the fryer and the cheese was still in the fryer when it.got to me. we had been before with family and it was lovely. we also had 2 steaks 1 medium rare and 1 medium well. the medium well was medium rare. it was still bloody not what I wanted and the medium rare was basicly blue not what we wanted. our server took it back for another. she returned with the 2 fresh steaks. the supervisor came over to check if they where ok. unfortunately they were not. now the medium rare was well done and the other one was ok ish. we told the supervisor about it and just asked for the bill. she kindly said she would take the steaks of the bill. then she returned to say every thing was complementary.
