With one week till my 40th, a group of friends and I looked for a restaurant to have a nice meal and a few drinks. Gin and Olive Southampton caught our eye, and what a great night we had. The selection of gin on offer is massive, with all other drinks catered for as well, and our food was also great. I had a gourmet burger, which was a really good portion size, plus I obviously had to try 5 or 6 different gins, which were all served in large gin glasses with Fever Tree tonic and garnishes that made them look brilliant. I really would advise a trip to the Gin and Olive for an amazing night out with a great atmosphere and friendly staff! Thanks for a great night, Ian

The place itself is very nicely decorated and lots of space. We found the service somewhat a bit lack-luster. We seemed to wait an age for our drinks and food even though this was a very quiet Thursday evening with only a handful of tables occupied but plenty of staff stood around. The food itself was nice but nothing blew us away, chips were a bit on the cold side upon arrival (like they’ve been sat out waiting awhile cold). Might come back again but not rushing to go back!

Brilliant cocktails especially 2for1 until 6 o’clock. food was fantastic and loads of it. The staff were friendly and great atmosphere. There were 12 of us and we had a fantastic night. Thank you please don’t change a thing especially the chef

Lovely venue. Staff are really nice and polite. On entering the venue, there was a screen clearly visible with bookings and names along with special requests and I’m pretty sure that’s a breach of GDPR.The long island cocktail was watery and at best tasted like it had a water mixer. When we mentioned this, no one offered to try it to see if what we were saying was true which is typical of good cocktail venues, but they did offer to give us another cocktail (an off menu cocktail request) which was better than the first. The starters were good but duck main was served lukewarm at best, overdone and the dauphinois served with it were just sliced, layered pieces of uncooked potato. The other chicken main was really nice, though the mash was a bit dry and the texture could have been better but overall I would order it again. The ladies toilets have no sanitary bins so forget going there on your time of the month unless you want to put your pad in the bin by the sinks. Overall, this place has great potential to be an amazing restaurant and bar but it’s far from that right now. Maybe give it time, as it’s quite new.

Just popped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised with an awesome dinner and fantastic cocktails improvised by Bart! Megan was lovely and provided excellent customer service! Now one of my favourite spots for sure! Really can recommend letting Bart craft a cocktail for you! Ask for herbs and whisky!

Visited you today with 2 friends what a lovely experience the staff so friendly. The food was fab and generous portions. The decor is really up to the minute and ladies room is amazing we had a wonderful time and will be visiting again thankyou to all the staff for a great day from AB FAB Not forgetting the great choice of gins and cocktails 😀

I've been to Gin & Olive on Southsea a few times and loves it, so thought I'd try out the new venue in Southampton. The building is very big and uniquely decorated but some of the decor was odd. For example the table we were given was far too high off the ground resulting in everyone jumping to reach their seats which was unpleasant. Also when we arrived (quite early in the evening) we had pre booked and were given the table right next to the door, which seemed fine but it was being opened every two minutes so we were being blasted by cold wind every time. We did ask to move but the manager (I think) seemed reluctant to move us even though the entire upstairs was empty and by the time he agreed to move us our food arrived. For the food everyone had the steak platter. We were quite disappointed and sadly it didn't compare at all to the Portsmouth branch. The presentation was lacking, it just looked squished on to a small plate and two out of three of the platters were overcooked which was disappointing. Also we asked for garlic butter (had this previously and it came melted in a pot) but we were given a slice of frozen butter which was very odd. I also tried one of the desserts (the stack I think it's called) and it was very bland and again disappointing. I hope the move to a bigger venue isn't the reason for the drop in quality but I'd like to think it's just because they've not been open that long and are still finding their feet. Don't know if I would go back, I'd probably make the trip to Portsmouth instead.

Door staff were friendly and chatty, staff were also very friendly. Food was timely, tasty and well presented. Expansive cocktail list, followed by a fantastic gin list. Decor and toilets were very well done, with a good vibe throughout the restaurant.

I never thought that one day i will take the time to post a review but there is always a first time for everything. In few words, the food was AMAZING! Very good price and generous portion. Attentive and welcoming Managers and staff. Can't wait to go back

Gin and olive Southampton offered amazing food and drink. In a comfortable clean and very pleasant environment. The quirky decor has been put together very well. Drinks menu for gin is off the scale will definitely becoming back again again.
