Reviews of The Anchor Inn
K. P.
Nice lay out of pub.lovely view if the water/ boats .clean loos but not many of them .nice sound of choice of daily meals but didn't get chance to try this time ...needs menus scattered around .dog friendly & good outside area too with cover x
N. W.
Decent selection of beers. Food wasn't good on one of our visits but was fine on another. Location is nice at high tide overlooking the marina.
R. M.
Excellent meal with my son yesterday. One of the best places for food in the area, with excellent polite service. You gotta try it. Had the pan fried Sea bass which was so tasty whilst my son had the lasagne.....big thanks to the staff and landlady kirstie. Keep up the good work 👏
K. S.
Me and my hubby have been going to the Anchor for around 5 years as it's our local, however we have only just started to have regular meals there over the last few months. The food is delicious and so much more then your normal pub grub! We love it. The food is always fresh, homemade and there is a good variety to choose from. I like the fact that they do a good sea food, fish selection. The prices are reasonable too. Staff are friendly and its dog friendly so perfect for us and our fur baby! Best pub food in Totton.
A. Y.
A very welcoming pub with wonderful friendly and attentive staff up for a chat, and a great atmosphere.
A great range of drinks and truly delicious food!
Great proximity to Eling Tide Mill & Visitor centre, Barltey Water and the SSSI.
Ideal to visit if you want to explore the waterways / mill.
My choice of cider: Weston's Stowford Press.
L. F.
Lovely food, big portions, great price. You must try the onion rings.
M. C.
Booked a table for 8pm we were meeted and greeted almost inside the door. Shown to our table and asked for drink orders. Ordered our food which took longer than usual as there were so many good things on the menu. Food came out and it didn't disappoint, the presentation was super, steaks were very tasty, seafood platter was amazing and so was the ploughman's! We also found that it was very reasonably priced too. Can't wait to go back. Well done to the staff at the Anchor Inn👍
J. P.
Despite delivery issues, the food on offer was first rate. Ample portions, full of flavour and expertly cooked. In addition, the staff were very friendly.
T. G. B.
Pub had live music today during main football match between Man City and Liverpool felt a bit sorry for singer as he played his guitar and sangPub itself well laid up plenty of outside space will be popular in warmer weather
B. Y.
Nice village pub, right on Eling Quay. Kissy always makes you welcome as do her staff.
J. H.
This bijou pub is situated in an ideal spot at Eling Tide Mill. Perfect for watching all the activities on the river. I didnt eat here but it looks popular and friendly
S.
Good location and atmosphere, excellent food at a fair price and friendly service. Will go again, soon I hope.
L. G.
Had a Sunday roast there today, couldn't fault it, in fact it was absolutely delicious.
Got busy when we there so I would recommend booking. Good selection of beers/cider great location and staff
P. H.
Great views of the yacht. Good quality food.
C. N.
Delicious! Fresh ingredients, well cooked, options for all tastes and generous portions. We asked for a substitution for my lactose-intolerant table-mate and the staff was very accommodating and nice about it. Veggie and vegan options available. Such a nice dinner, and good quality for the price!
T. G.
First visit in many years. Well appointed, nice views and good service. Did not try the food but will return to do so....
S. W.
Incredible tapas. Portions were really generous & the six dishes we tried were all absolutely delicious. Service was fast & staff were really friendly. We arrived with no expectations, we left ready to recommend to as many people as possible.
D. G.
Went for a drink today and saw some of the food coming out, so on that we decided to order lunch! I was worried as we hadn't visited before and was unsure, there was no need to worry at all! I had the Ham Eggs and Chips wow 👏😍 thick pieces of ham almost like gammon, chips were definitely home cooked not frozen and served eggs were perfectly runny. So for me it was brilliant !
Seating is available inside and out we were lucky to get the last table outside because the rest were booked!
I would score a high 10 out of 10
R. C.
Perfectly fine café with excellent service. Nothing particularly fancy food wise, but I certainly enjoyed a good decaf coffee and a toastie. Worth a stop if you need a snack!
edit: oops, the above isn't accurate. I intended to write the above review for a cafe, not for this pub.
The Anchor Inn is still a perfectly good pub, no complaints!
D. M.
We used this pub .me & mu girl friend after day @ a fair & stalls in Totton
D. R.
Outstanding I had the ploughman's the best ploughman's I have had in a long time the bread was freshly baked that day which made it tast even better. The chef at this pub is one if the best in the South you have to go and try this pup.
P. M.
The Roast dinner today was absolutely delicious. The meat, vegetables, garvy and pudding was out of this world. Felt like I we were in our own home having a home cooked dinner. That's how nice it was. The service was also amazing really kind and friendly ladies who served today. We will.come back and recommend our friends
J. B.
very hospitable to three mums with babies despite the little ones being noisy and making a mess as they will always do! the excellent waitress made us feel at home. we very much enjoyed the food, with an honourable mention for the chips!
D. O.
Called in to see friends and stayed for a while. Food looking amazing although I did not eat that day.
Warm welcome from the staff
A. W.
A pub with atmosphere that sensibly handles Covid-19 restrictions. The staff are friendly and obliging and the food is delicious. Currently, they are also incorporating an eat out to help out scheme, taking 30% off food and drink for most of the day, making it highly affordable. I would definitely go here again.
g. b.
Lovely pub next to Eling Creek .. brilliant tapas , burgers , stew.. and really friendly staff
j. f.
Very friendly staff, service was great. Food was excellent, I'm vegetarian and the Lentil and Carrot curry fantastic. The rest of the party enjoyed their food, husband said his fish was perfect. Allowed dog in as well. 💯 All the way. Will be back again. Highly recommended.
M. M.
Nice pub, good food. Plenty of parking around side and back. Decent location especially at high tide overlooking the water. Really good walks nearby and around. Staff helpful and friendly.
L. P.
This has been a great pit stop for the Monday and Wednesday night DHR rides. Beer is great, people that run it are friendly and awesome location.
K.
Lovely little place by the water, serves food and drink. Ideal for families, groups, couples or alone. It's not rowdy its really pleasant and friendly. The staff are really polite and friendly. They have bands in and you can hire a band to go in there if you have an occasion to celebrate. You have plenty of parking, and you have inside and outside seating. Its lovely and I would recommend to anyone.
G. H.
Great atmosphere, really friendly!
R.
Although not a huge selection of beers, this place is incredibly well situated and is perfect in the summer for the family.
The food is typical pub fare, with all the classics.
There is a small gin bar at the side of the main bar, which is well stocked.
They do have Summer Lightning on tap, but the rest of the beers they offer is relatively sparse.
The staff are friendly, polite and great to talk to.
D.
Great scenery and even better on a summer's day!
L. M.
This is a great place to dine and socialise. I didn't intentionally put a one star rating it must have woken in my pocket 😁 I would done at this pub regularly if I had the time it's a beautiful place and has some stunning views
S. T.
Great little place with marina view. Food was very generous with Spanish tapas also offered.
Very friendly pub.
j. c.
Lovely stop for lunch after a country walk from .Marchwood. The homemade burger and chips is excellent value with friendly service. Strongly recommended.
C. B.
Nice food and a nice view over the water. Friendly staff and nice selection of beers (including Summer Lightning, Tribute and Doom Bar). Ignore the "for sale" signs, this place is definitely open and a good place for grub. There's outdoor seating when it's sunny too. I'll be coming back.
C. n.
Absolutely lovely scenery, staff lovely, food 😋, well priced. Sandwiches on home made bread, home made chips, nothing not to like!!!!!
a. b.
No loo roll,no hand wash,no eating here
D. R.
A great mix of the old & modern. There is the bar side with a dedicated darts area, flat screen TV for sports & the usual pub seating whilst round the corner is a more modern area, almost like s coffee shop. They do serve decent coffee & good food at a decent price. All with a large car park, out door patio & views of the yachts moored along the water & the tide mill in the distance.
J. J.
This pub has just changed landlords. It has had a refurb that makes it look more welcoming than before. The bar staff seem happier also. A very friendly and warm atmosphere. Can't comment on the food as I have not eaten there yet but the menu looks good and reasonably priced.
A. A.
What a great find, wish we had found it sooner!
Not only do they have great amazing homemade food, it is affordable and the venue is clean. The staff were friendly and keen to help when we needed it. Very child friendly, nice little fenced area outside when the weather is nice, can watch the boats and just have a really great day. Children's menu was fantastic and all homemade (ok except the french fries!!!).
Want to tell the world it is so good!.
I. G.
Food is reasonably priced and was very tasty. Home made steak pie is yummy. Atmosphere was ok, lighting is a little too bright. Staff were excellent. Thanks all at the Anchor inn.
C. B.
We visit the Anchor Inn regularly both for drinks and eats
Sunday lunch was very busy, we booked for 3pm they were running out of some traditional parts of a roast - Yorkshire puddings and some veg, I think this was a one off due to unexpected demand, so frozen veg - peas, carrots instead - needs must So we would book earlier for our part, however cannot fault the staff they all go the extra mile friendly excellent service keep the good work up the Anchor Inn
C. P.
Came across this pub whilst visiting Eling Mill. Very welcoming staff, fab Roast dinner and felt safe re Covid rules. Highly recomend a visit. Sat outside watching the boats.
A. S.
Bar lady very helpful setting up a table for 11 of us.
Food did take over half an hour to arrive which was a bit awkward with 5 hungry restless kids. Only 1 other customer drinking so not sure how they cope when busy?
Food was very tasty (chunky chips lovely).
Bar menu very reasonable at £4.95 for jackets, baguettes or flat breads with side salad (which most of us ordered).Sausage bap at £3.50 did look a little overcooked and not as nice.
Kids menu £4.95
Main menu seemed a little pricey; sausage n mash £10.95, hunters chicken £9.95 but we did not order any main so cannot comment on size or quality. Mum had the Whitebait at £5.95 but was not overwhelmed.
This is a lovely spot and nice welcoming clean pub so we will visit again as love Eling. May come back on evening when live music on!
D. B.
Friendly service but we had to chase to pay the bill. Food was quick and although nothing wrong it it it was nothing special - a little bland.
D. W.
I need to change this after an earlier review I gave which was not great. Very good service and food on the 29th November
G. R.
Nice fish chips and mushy pea meal 👍 Only thing i would of liked the knives and forks wrapped in a servette instead of people helping themselves out of a container. Otherwise good work all round.
T. M.
A lovely large pub in the New Forest. We went there as it is famous for having many of the New Forest donkeys around it. There is a seperate dinning area, dog free, otherwise dogs are made very welcome they even provide fresh water and bowls for dogs. There is seating outside, including baby chairs, plus a small play area for children.
M.
Love it here, good beer, good food, great atmosphere. At times the quayside feels tranquil amongst the all round bustle which just highlights what a great area to have a great pub in.
S. D.
I was lovely sitting outside at the Anchor inn it's a sun trap looking at all the boats on the river I wood recommend this pub to go wen the sun is out
T. S.
I absolutely loved our meal here. Food was to die for, and the atmosphere was great
E. K.
D do with updating internally so it's not so dark. food
portions are good value for money and seems to be attended alot food standards are mediocre not something I would write home about but staff very commuted to helping and assisting you in all you could need. Well within the building don't want anyone to think they are nieve enough to vomit crime for customers
A. L.
Good beer, good sandwiches. End of the Test Way and my feet enjoyed the seats
L. B.
Nice enough to sit outside and the staff seemed nice. I chose the wrong option for lunch though, I got plenty of salad the burger was a pretty poor effort. The pies looked better as they're pieminister ones.
I. E.
Friendly staff, lovely location and lots of smiles :)
A. B.
Delious Tapas and Great cocktails.

W.

D. J.
Excellent pub food A1,and lovely and friendly staff
R. E.
Friendly staff. Good food. V pleasant surroundings. Altogether lovely!
D. L.
The food was very nice but the service was chaotic (reason for only 4 stars), they don't have fixed table numbers so the waiters in couple occasions gave people incorrect orders, fixed table numbers I'm sure would help them.
J. H.
Had some of the Tapas ..they were a really nice change from normal pub grub..great view of the boats moored up. Very relaxing place to go. Will go again for sure.
m. S.
Lovely roast lamb, roast potatoes done to perfection, veg and even mint sauce.....absolutely delicious. Staff very helpful and friendly. Def eat here again.
S. M.
Decent food at sensible prices and good service. We'll be back
p. s.
A dog friendly pub with a great view of the harbour you can walk your dog from here pop into the eling tidemill just a stone's throw away and see the working mill then take circular walk on the board walk thorough the grave yard and back over the toll bridge to the pub for a lovely pub lunch or early evening meal great
R. W.
Nice atmospheric pub on the water with a nice patch of grass just before the marina inlet. A good selection of beers and fairly busy on a Saturday night with local drinkers.
T. H.
A very pleasant venue for a late afternoon drink, and a lovely walk after.
D. B.

Love it. Really enjoying the Ringwood cask tap. The beer garden and outdoor views are what really sells The Anchor. Thanks guys.
J. D.
Got the outdoor service spot on and beer tastes great. Great to see them back open
M. B.
Had Irish beef stew which was very nice. But the portion size might as well of been a child's meal. So not great value for money.
J. F.
