I have enjoyed many a great night in this place over the years and this night was no exception!
It was my birthday and what a night it was!
This place is so simple, but so good. It's always a no frills, just get yourself on a table, dancing, kinda place. Great atmosphere as always, with the legendary Derek just doing his thing.
Loved it!! I hope this place never changes, just as it hasn't in the last 20 years

M. C.Great atmosphere, live music, staff and drinks 😁. Just wish that we didn't have to watch our backs as we were leaving. 😔 It's one of the best pubs I've been too in a while! Will definitely be going back there! Just be careful of what seem like the locals/ middle aged gents. They have a tendency to throw drinks/start fights.
D. C.Great atmosphere from the start still has saw dust on the floors which this place has been known for. Drinks reasonable priced. Venue is small but makes up for that with a live singer highly recommended for a great evening out

G. M.Google asked if this place was a "Dive"! Yes, but only in a good way! Used to go years ago, and it still has most of its charm. Dancing on tables and Derek on the guitar and a frog box full of madness. It's a shame only downstairs is open nowadays. Best served as part of an alcohol fuelled diet.

s. k.It was a quiet start to the night but soon picked up and was back to it's usual people dancing on the tables before long. Not the cheapest of drinks but it's in the town centre and only to be expected!

M. K.Been going to the Frog since I was 16... er, I mean 18, obviously! Over the years it's closed down a few times and reopened, and it was never quite the same, however since epic Friday & Saturday night regular guitarist Derek took over managing the place, the atmosphere is now the closest it has ever been to what it was like back in its heyday.
Granted, it's not quite as rammed now as it was back in the 80s/90s, but you'll still find it fairly full of people most nights that Derek is playing. Granted, there may now be, mixed in with the T-shirt-clad regulars, some over-dressed 'yachty' types who've bravely wandered across from the comforting luxury embrace of Ocean Village (generally identifiable by their cravat (or similar rich-person wardrobe item) and their part-scandalised, part-excited expression when they see that some people are actually - gasp - STANDING on the tables!) The Frog being what it is, however, by the end of the night these vacationing Hedge Fund manager types are usually to be found up on said tables, arm in arm with a student, a member of a biker gang and a punk granny... because one of the best things about the Frog, besides the live music and the upbeat, relaxed atmosphere, is that it's one of those rare venues: a genuinely inclusive place, where it doesn't matter what you earn, wear, drive or where you live... you'll always be welcome there.
Oh, and they sell beer too!
