Food was nice, service a tad slow but I understand as it was kinda full. Vegan burger and chicken burgers were very nice.

Good location. Big pub with plenty of inside and outside seating. Good range of food. Friendly staff. I just popped in for an orange juice and lemonade before a club meeting. Was very nice too, decent orange taste not like other pubs where it can be more lemonade than orange and cheap tasting.

Great breakfast, super efficient and friendly staff, what's not to like? Surprisingly it wasn't loaded with the usual suspects, who one associates with this chain...nice outdoor seating area, but this means looking at the local wildlife ambling aimlessly through the shopping area. Definitely a good venue for daytime, not so sure about the evenings?

I like very much this local bitterne pub. Food is ok. You get quite good quality food for almost nothing. Beef burger, chips + pint of Guinness for just 7£. In any other pub you might need to pay 4£ Guinness only. Love Wetherspoon .

It's alright, have had better experiences. Service slow when pub not that busy. Ordered cheese and ham panini and it wasn't nice! no garnish, and very dry. Looked rubbish. Jacket potato and cheese made with mozzarella!! No taste, just stringy cheese. Won't be rushing back but having a witherspoon in Bitterne is a handy meeting point.

4 of us visited, food was good, the menu has changed since the last time I visited a Wetherspoon seems to be a lot less on the menu, which isn't always a bad thing, but I personally think that they should have kept the gammon. I asked to swap a sauce and they were more than happy to comply. Only reason for a lost star is that my mother ordered her steak MR and came out MW-W. She didn't mind that much, but we also didn't get a check back.

The beyond burguer is not the beyond burguer so not correct to call it something that it isn't. The staff was friendly. Unfortunately had to deal with very not respectful customers, while having dinner had a woman with no understanding of respect while one is eating, screaming right behind me while "entertaining" My 8old month baby, then started to touch my baby by tickling her when she was on he pram, obviously this was crossing the limits since she had no consent for this to happen and when we intervene by going to pick her up she was also on her way to pick our baby up and only when my partner got her first she asked if she could have a cuddle. This woman was clearly very drunk and should have not been allowed inside

First day opening after lockdown, went in, no tapes, no shields, no footprint stickers on floor, no booking tables, stay as long as you like, wetherspoons has got it right, they are letting people use their common sense. But they do have pizzas cooked in a pizza oven which have always been good. Disappointed this visit as they were off the menu, suggest they put this up on the bar like they do their managers specials and then customers have time to relook at the menu without holding up other customers waiting to be served

Just cover your children's ears when you enter and leave as the regulars that hang around by the doors smoking are incapable of having a conversation without yelling swear words.

Nice big place has been a pub for many years, wetherspoons who are known for there real ale, refurbished it in 2017 still has old world charm, upstairs tables, I didnt see a lift, but does have a wheelchair friendly entrance. You can download the app & sit at your table order your food & drink, & they will bring it to you. They have the talk food app, so if your visually impaired, or have a problem with the written word, the menus are spoken to you. Yummy food decent size, they do vegan & vegetarian meals. You get free refills with tea & coffee. Some meals come with a free drink. I had the vegetarian Lasagne, which came with salad, & tasty little herby sauce on the side. Both the meals we ordered came with a free drink. A pink gin big glasses, & they do pitchers, which if there's a few of you works out more value for money. Had the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream, & my granddaughter had the meat Lasagne which she said was very nice, & the warm cookie dough with ice cream, we halved each of the desserts, so we could taste each others, the chocolate brownie was very rich & chocolatey, cookie dough was quite sweet, & the sauce to me tasted of carameI which I really liked, so can recommend both of them! All in all I'd say great food & real value for money, in a nice clean pub.

The new Red Lion is a typically good 'spoons. Indoor seating is good and plentyful while the outdoor seating gives you a slightly elevated view of the coming and going of Bitterne precinct. Food was good, everything you come to expect from a spoons and we would definitely visit again.

It’s now a Wetherspoons but still known as the Red Lion and good to see that it’s still going. It’s situated at the top of Bitterne precinct and there’s plenty of public parking nearby. There is now an upstairs section and a balcony. Plenty of outdoor seating where you can watch, drink and eat. Usual Wetherspoons fare, cheap prices and the food is good too, recommend you get the app as it can make food ordering easier.

Haven't lived in the area long but I must say this pub is very nice not to expensive great food, my children loved the food as well and has disabled toilets which is a 5 star from me as my wife is sometimes unable to make the stairs. Will be paying a few more visits to the red lion.

I've been going here , for about 6 months now . it's an interesting place , . It stands proud at the end of a precinct , that used to be a through road . There's plenty of old pictures inside , of what the area used to look like . Very accesable , and always busy , tho not too over crowded ( not when I've been there ) Loud enough to have atmosphere , but not too loud that you can't hear yourself talk . Good beer , good food ,at a reasonable price . The staff are always friendly as well . I have had a breakfast there , and it was very nice indeed , so filling ,that I could't eat anything else till teatime Only criticisms I have to make , is that they have a tendency to run out of certain beers , and foods (no fish , last night ) , also they could do with some more staff . Worth a visit tho , I'll keep going back
