Come down from Swindon to see a relative and popped in for some lunch. Booked really easily over the phone and was greeted with a smile. Food and menu was varied and everyone (4) really enjoyed the food. It was presented well and had great taste. Would recommend and will return in the near future. Thank you

Busy pub with lots of seating. A conservatory increases the dinning area significantly. There was a good atmosphere, and a large selection on the menu. We were a table of 10 so had to submit our menu choices ahead. Despite this, two of the meals came out wrong? I had the Cajun chicken. It was nicely spiced, came with onion rings and a flat mushroom, lots of chips. Chicken texture wasn't great. Chips weren't quite crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Had much better. I wouldn't have the Cajun chicken 🐓 again. But there's lots of other things to try.

Great place for a meal. Took a friend for lunch today and had a sandwich (me) and filled jacket potato (friend) . Came with delicious dressed salad garnish and coleslaw. Point deducted as coffee we asked for at end of meal they needed reminding. But otherwise to be highly recommended. By the way I ate here recently with a large party of friends in the evening for a really great meal. Really pleased and will return!

Small warm cosy homely pub with large conservatory for food. Staff really friendly. Food absolutely excellent! Has TV screens usually on silent as background on a weeknight. Has Juke box. Outside seating. Own car park. Up to eight of us friends meet here most weeks on one weeknight a week. We used to go somewhere else but this has a nicer feel so think that says it all. Really recommend!

Lovely garden and nice room and atmosphere. We were there for a wake so food was set out for us sandwiches, pizzas, sausage rolls etc all went well in my experience of being there.

Nice local pub. Came here for my sons 16th Birthday with his grandparents. He ordered the beef burger and asked for cheese and bacon for extra cost to be added. Burger came out with far too much cheese on it( looked like block of cheese had been put on it) and made it extremely greasy. It was difficult to eat and had to scrape lots of cheese off. Not once did anyone come over whilst we were eating to check if everything was ok. Bit pricey for what u get though. Then got told after eating and having my sons birthday cake that I brought along that we had to move as table was needed for a funeral that had been booked in. Why sit us at that table then if they knew we couldn't sit there for too long.

Friendly service, good quality food and a comfortable portion size. Decent chips as in nicely cooked on the outside with fluffy potatoe on the inside. The steak and ale pie was packed with meat and the pastry looked like home made shortcrust. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Lovely little place with a gorgeous conservatory & outdoor seating area. Also had a nice little play area for the kids - like the old school pubs I remember visiting as a child! Drinks were reasonably priced and food was alright. Although I didn't pay for a meal, I attended a wake here. Only 1 down side is the fact they had only 1 women's toilet... haven't marked down for this as could have been another I didn't know about!

We have just been to our Dads/Grandads lnterment of Ashes. Honestly say Buffet food was lovely. Childrens play area outside is great. Lovely garden with lots of space. Great Staff and very clean with plenty of tea/coffee on offer with Buffet. Thankyou Everyone.

We had been to our aunts funeral and had the wake at the Southampton Arms after, I can honestly say the food was lovely the only thing left was a couple of biscuits and as much coffee as you wanted, the staff we're all so friendly enjoyed it

Just had lunch with my sisters we all went for the homemade steak pie , chips and veg with individual pots of very tasty gravy . Would thoroughly recommend, we followed it up with homemade cheesecake ,which was very good too. Service was very good , cheerful and friendly staff.

Nice, inviting bar interior, marred slightly by a TV screen showing sports. Warm in winter. Choice of real ales and, unlike most pubs, decent ciders. Friendly and helpful staff. We use the dining area, which isn't smart but is comfortable enough, and is out of sight of the TV. The menu is imaginative and varied without being gratuitously quirky. Food is well cooked and appetising, and portions are generous without being so large that you can't finish. Some of the options are reasonably healthy for people on weight-loss diets, and staff are happy to be flexible -- replacing chips with new potatoes, for example. During the week, when we visit, the ambience is quiet and there's plenty of space in the car park. There's also a garden and a conservatory, which we haven't tried, but which looks as if it would be nice during the summer months.

Really nice, old fashion pub with beams and fireplace, ample parking (10 cars), outside sitting area in front. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was really good and above average. Nice conservatory area to sit in the back. There is also a garden. Toilets are nice and clean. Would recommend a visit.

Lovely place. Nice atmosphere and the staff are very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The food is lovely, always hot and large portions so good value for your money. I've had, probably 10+ meals in here and never had a complaint. We've had several family meals for birthdays with upto 30 people each time. there has never been any complaints. Staff are always accommodating. Will never turn down a meal here.

A local pub that still has a community atmosphere ie not yet been updated with chrome etc. Food is home cooked, the fish and chips were the best I have had for years. Although can't recommend the olives as a starter as they were severed in brine rather than rinsing off and adding olive oil. Otherwise a great local pub

We walked to the Southampton Arms from the Holiday Inn. We were greeted by a lovely lady (I wish I had taken her name) who invited us to have the last vacant table. Friday night was busy and we were lucky to secure the table. I say we were lucky as the host couldn’t do enough for us, food was amazing and also welcomed the kids. We stayed for a few drinks after to soak in the atmosphere where locals ate and drank. I highly recommend to anyone down this neck of the woods. This will be a definate return visit for us as a family next year when we return to Southampton. 5* review on food and staff!

Visited after a funeral at Wessex Vale. They had laid on a good spread also with scones, jam & fresh cream! Sat outside in a good enclosed garden with plenty of seating & there were toys for children. Looks like they open an outside bar at busy times. The service was good but there weren't any other customers, so I can't really fully comment.

This pub serves lovely pib grub. I had the chicken and ham salad, when it was served I thought all this just for me, it was delicious.My husband had the rump steak and all the trimmings he struggled to finish his meal. Would recommend this pub to anyone. The Guinness was lovelt too.

Had an 'accidental' stumble in here last week whilst walking the hounds on a lovely day! Hadnt taken money with us but thankfully they take contactless. Great little garden and well maintained play area for kids. We ordered lunch and our 4 year old had chicken nuggets which were proper fresh chunks of chicken and cooked well. We both had a burger which although nice (and nothing wrong with it) to me had an odd taste which I cant put my finger on. It wasnt unpleasant exactly just didnt taste quite right. However it wouldnt stop me going back there, the food was freshly cooked and not a bad price. Nice little place :)

Had Mums 8Oth Birthday for 20 people today .. we did book a month in advance & had ourselves organised with food etc .. The kitchen staff ( who are often not mentioned) & waiting staff were just as organised & we can not fault them & the food ..Thank you so much to all of you for making an amazing celebration for us all . This place needs a severe shot in the arm. Dated, dowdy, dreary and dogs. This is one of those venues that allows their doggy friends in. And this apparently, includes allowing the stinking things to sit on the furniture!!! And all the while, they actually serve food. This was my first and last visit to what should be a prime pub/restaurant. Staff were friendly. UPDATE: Met my pal and his wife here on Sunday...wasn't exactly looking forward to it, but her parents live about 100m from this venue. Somehow the place seemed cleaner and fresher and although there were a few dogs...at least none were sitting on furniture and being hand fed by their owners. VERY busy and obviously well supported. Average age was probably 60+. Still more visible twattoos, than in an English Premiership changing room. Large car park, free WiFi and live sports. I have added 2* to my original rating.

When you look closely, beyond the decor this is a little gem of a place. Very much a local, we were made to feel welcome despite the fact that there was a wake on, England had just finished playing cricket up the road and the sun was shining. They have a conservatory into the garden, ser out as a restaurant. We had baked camembert for starters and lasagne and chilli for main. All was very good quality with plenty of it. Friendly, if a bit little rushed service due to pub at bursting point. Might have given it a 5 but as stated earlier decor is a little old and the toilets could do with a revamp.
