Review #1 Had a lovely meal here last week after a last minute decision to go for dinner. Nice that they managed to fit the 2 of us in, since it was busy. They always have a good selection of beers on tap and the food was tasty homecooked quality as usual. Always worth a visit. Review #2 yet again great food and good portion sizes, never disappointed!

Popped in for impromptu light lunch with my friend after a visit to vets with her dog in Bournemouth. We were greeted by Ange,who was lovely. A great member of staff and real asset to the team! Really lovely pub, homely atmosphere and food was great! Will definitely be back! Absolutely recommend 👌

Lunchtime visit.Very cold inside pub. Stopped serving food at 2pm. Didn't tell us that or we'd have ordered food at same time as main course. So no pudd. Not even an offer of ice cream. Hot chocolate with all the trimmings then? No cream. But the hot chocolate was nice.Not too sweet & it did have marshmallows on the side. HOWEVER the main meal food was delicious. A very varied menu. Not the usual bar food.I had Tuna steak with sweet potato mash. The Tuna was cooked to perfection. Meal was nice n hot & very tasty. Compliments to the Chef. Staff very friendly. I'd certainly recommend the food. Remember if you're going for lunch- kitchen closes at 2pm on the dot.

In these difficult times cannot fault at all. Had to be outside because of restrictions. Great sheltered outside area with heaters. Fantastic food and very good prices. Staff were so attentive & helpful.

The pub is small but comfortable, the staff are friendly and give you time to choose your meal when you struggle to choose. There is a wide range of options food and desert wise to choose from. The pricing is prety fair for what you get due to the high quality of the meals served.

Lived locally to this pub for over 50 years and had never visited until last week. The food was so good that we returned today. Lovely atmosphere, cosy under the outside seating area canopy and food DELICIOUS! INTERIOR: So, The White Horse is a typical country pub. The interior is as you'd expect from a pub in the New Forest; cosy and welcoming. COVID: The social distancing measures were excellent here, with tables laid out to accommodate the 2 m rule, but it still felt cosy. There was hand sanitiser at the entrance and again just inside the door (one way system) and we were shown to our table (we pre-booked). The pub was clean and we observed the staff decontaminating surfaces regularly. MENU: The menu was fine. It said on the website that their menu was limited, but it still catered for all (veggie and vegan), and the choices whilst limited appeared to be well thought-out. SERVICE: Service was swift (but not suspiciously so!) And the staff were bright and attentive. FOOD: The food was lovely (the homemade lasagna was reportedly devine) and portion size was good, too. It came to us steaming hot and was clearly fresh. PRICE: We paid £23 for 2x lime and sodas and 2 main meals, which I think is a fair price for the quality of the food, service and location. OVERALL: Gorgeous pub, great service/food.

Spent a lovely evening with friends sitting outside under the fairy lights and beside a heater at the weekend. Great atmosphere and the food was delicious 😋. The menu, tho small, is varied and each dish very tasty. The desserts too didn't disappoint 😋. We enjoyed it so much we went back again this evening for more!🤪. Can highly recommend a visit. We were welcomed by the owner who told us where we could sit which was fine, no covid check in QR code that we could find and when asking about it we were met with no response. We’re very benefit of the doubt people - so knowing we had a new girl who’s first shift was today we were fine with ☺️ She seemed lovely! I don’t think she had really been shown what to do, or given the opportunity to shadow someone, but I could tell she was confused/nervous. Which we were fine with and fully understand and support after all everyone has to start somewhere! Our first round of drinks came out in decent time. We then asked for one more drink later on, it took a while (before receiving our food) so I went in just to chase it up, I then saw the man who welcomed us behind the bar trying to chase up our tables food (he’s been sat down having a few pints with a regular/friend, so it was nice of him to still show concern) to which I overheard the kitchen did not have a ticket for our food. The new waitress didn’t know she had to take the ticket out, which is fair enough if no one had told her!! That’s not her fault at all. We would’ve liked the owner to have touched table and just apologise for the wait on food and explain or maybe even offer something to show an apology, but we didn’t get that, just multiple sorry’s from the same waitress bless her, it’s not their fault! It just would’ve been nice to have that owner interaction. Another Waitress told us our food wouldn’t be long (I felt bad for the girl who originally served us and I genuinely hope she’s ok!). We asked for another couple of drinks from a different waitress and she seemed puzzled and like she didn’t want to deal with us as we weren’t “her table” but still took our drinks anyway. The food... AMAZING!!! As always - chefs always outdo themselves here! After the food I did have a conversation with Sophie about our experience, and she is a complete asset to the pub! So so lovey so understanding and has sorted us out something for when we return - which we still definitely will! Thank you to all the chefs and particularly Sophie, honestly you are all a credit to this team! ⭐️ I always feel bad and anxious for making a complaint or just sharing an “off” experience with a staff member but Sophie didn’t make me feel like an inconvenience or a trouble whatsoever and genuinely hoped we’d return which don’t worry Sophie, we definitely will!

Sunday lunch with the family. Table for 7. Variety from the menu and specials board plus traditional Sunday roast. Two courses each and drinks. Under £20 per head. Very good food and portion sizes. Would highly recommend. Meals we had were fish cakes, roast lamb, rack of ribs, turkey & ham pie, huge choice and well presented. Would highly recommend and friendly staff

A traditional pub with access from the car park at back of the pub.there is a walkway which takes you to the main entrance.there are outside seats and tables. Suitable for wheelchairs.a very welcoming pub and service and meals are excellent they have certification of excellence. family orientated and books and games are available for children to use I definitely recommend it.

Went there for a Sunday roast last week . As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the landlady with a big smile. The staff were also very friendly and bubbly. A dog friendly pub. Excellent food and I highly recommend the pub restaurant. Will be going there again

We decided to try their Hot Rocks as a treat night out. Booked our table a couple of weeks back for the 1st of Oct. Arrived at 7.pm and were seated and drinks order taken. Chose our starters which were delivered quickly , our server then came to ask us if we wanted a steak or tuna. We decided on rump steak, the meals were served quickly on a very hot lava rocks steak cooking just how we like it. We use the pub/restaurant quite alot and have never had a bad meal the food is always hot which makes a nice change

Really lovely meal I had the home made carrot and coriander soup followed by the beef and ale pie and my partner had a steak. Friendly service, generous portions and quality food. Couldn’t fault it!

Superp food (as always) as we've been here a few times the good lady and I. The staff are always so pleasant, and helpful, and the surroundings are lovely and homely. Such a great way to chill out and enjoy a meal and a drink. Brilliant. Say no more!!

Staff always friendly here. They welcome dogs and always have fresh water available as well as doggy treats for the well behaved ones! The build your own burger is a favourite of ours and the cook your steak (on lava rock) is actually quite enjoyable. Recommended.

It seems like they could really benefit from having another member of staff on a Saturday night, the nice blonde young lady seemed to be delivering food and taking orders, between pulling pints, so it wasn't the speediest of service, but, we weren't in a hurry, so we were quite happy to wait. However, someone more demanding than me might be unhappy with the delayed service. The food was good, quite generic, but tasty enough. I had the burger, my other half had the 8oz rump steak. He requested the steak medium, and when it arrived, it was erring more towards well done - I can only assume it was on the hot plate waiting to be served for a while, and kept cooking whilst waiting. Altogether, I would eat here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice, and I'd probably describe it as "alright, worth a try" to my friends. It's a shame, because it really could be great, you can see the potential, but I suppose they're just understaffed and don't have the time or resources to make the experience a bit more special or unique. They have plastic flowers on the tables, just having a couple of fresh flowers would really kick it up a notch. They have candles on the tables, and the decor is really nice in the restaurant section, but that's where the ambience ends, and the atmosphere is really affected by the lack of dedicated table service. It seems to be very 'between' stages of being a 'locals pub' and a gastropub destination.

We stayed near this pub on our holiday, we walked in on our first visit and were greeted by the lovely Tracey Bartlet, we were made to feel very welcome so we returned every night of our holiday. The food was wonderful.. [ steak and ale pie to die for ]. and all the staff were great.

Lovely pub. A bit of a locals pub in the sense that it is located where it is. You either live nearby and walk or drive from surrounding towns. Nice to sit outside in summer under an umbrella. Located on a rather busy road sadly. Good choice of food and drinks
