Came here for the 2021 Christmas display. We and the kids loved it, amazing and well set up. The COVID staff were super friendly and kept everyone distanced and moving along nicely.

Fantastic evening last night, brought my 92 year old mum who had a great time. Staff were absolutely brilliant, very kind, tentative, polite and always served us with a wonderful smile. My first meal there was excellent and good beer and service Been serval times since had a great lunch always very good Went back againg today 26.6.22 once again amazing value cooked to perfection staff amazing we both had the chix skewers with extras perfect. The cheese chips were awesome I know what you thinking you can't go wrong with cheesy chips but you can the cheese melted on in the oven which browns it nicely most places just stick it in micro wave. So much better than the Flemming arms which is a total shambles.

A local pub on the main West End high street. It has a car park out front but can get filled. There is plenty of off street parking nearby. It’s fairly large with tv screens, plenty of seating inside & out. Food is available at reasonable prices.

Have recently moved to the area and have started coming here a few times. Everyone is so friendly and the food is great too. T went especially over and above to make me and my partner feel welcome. Will def be returning on a more regular basis :-) would def recommend.

I visited it on a Saturday afternoon during a football match between Man City and Liverpool and I was surprised at how quiet and calm everyone was. There was of course a bit of noise when a goal was scored but it was at a perfectly acceptable level for a pub. I ordered 4 meals, (2 were the big ones you see advertised) with some sides and drinks and it came to just shy of £40, the food came out displayed as in the picture and honestly was absolutely fantastic. It was got and well cooked, it certainly didn't look like they cheaped out on any of it. This is definitely a great place to go for a lunch for the food, the atmosphere is much more in line with a 'local' so don't come if you are expecting a restaurant atmosphere but if you are happy to grab a meal with friends or family while ha in a couple drinks then I definitely recommend it.

Quick service, seemed friendly. Steak pie hardly had any meat in it, waitress said it's a lottery when they buy the pies. Food and drink standard for a Hungry Horse, nothing special but handy when attending the cricket.

I've only popped in here twice for a quick drink since my sister moved in to the area and the first thing I noticed is how very friendly, smiley and welcoming the bar staff are. The pub is very clean, with plenty of seating and lots of TV screens for watching Sports etc. We will be eating there for the first time tomorrow (Sunday roast), so I'm hoping the good experience continues! :-)

It was ok. Manager/Landlord is incredibly loud & can do with questioning down. A "cliquey" locals type pub. Seem miffed that people are visiting *their* pub, a pub that just so happens to be in a village that houses a top quality international cricket venue that can attract up to 20k spectators, some that may be thirsty

I've had 2 visits both mid week with differing experiences. Both times the pub has been fairly busy as choice is limited locally. Beer selection is ok, nothing special but probably caters fine for local taste. Menu offers good choice and incredible value. First time I ate in here I had a bit of a wait for food (fish and chips and mac and cheese) but it was worth it. Food was surprisingly tasty having expected cheap microwaved meals. Second time I ordered a steak which was terrible. Asked for medium but came out so overcooked. Perhaps to be expected for the low price but if I come back I'll be avoiding the steak. Bar service can be a little slow but staff otherwise friendly.

I have enjoyed the food there on a monthly basis. It's always been good. But tonight the steak was chewy and the chips and peas were cold. We wanted pie but they'd run out. Hence the 3 stars

We've visited this place for meals before and the food was "ok" nothing special but edible. BUT on our last couple of visits I have to say there was a massive improvement, the new menu offers a great selection of food, the food we ordered was delicious and great portion sizes for the price! The only downside was it does get busy, it can be hard to find a table especially if you're in a group of 4+, and it can take a while to get served at the bar. But the price and quality of the food more than make up for it.

I wouldn't go there to eat again. I had a steak which I asked for it be cooked medium and it came out over cooked, tough and just over all hard to eat. The peas were cold, the mushrooms were watery and bland, the only okay ish thing on the plate were the chips and even they weren't great. They may be okay for drinks but not food.

Visited today for lunch and took advantage of the meal deal ;two meals for £9.95, fish, chips and peas,and steak pie ,mash and peas.both were wonderful.the staff were extremely friendly and efficient.the pub was very clean no sticky tables or mucky condiments.toilets were clean too.good condition dart board and pool table.the atmosphere was pleasant,with background music not too loud.the decor and lighting perfect.will definitely be returning overall good value for money friendly pub

Great pub for a lunch or dinner, friendly staff and welcoming locals. Excellent prices...their Abbot Ale at £3.25 is the cheapest in the area...so much so, that I take a 20 minute bus ride each way, to taste it. Predominantly a sports bar showing live and highlight events, they also have music events and the usual pub entertainment. Well worth a visit, but I would imagine that during live football/rugby the atmosphere could be a little less family friendly? This because of language...NOT violence. UPDATE: Today (18/04/2018) I witnessed THE most appalling behaviour, I've seen in a pub...for some 25 years. Was it drunks? Druggies? Teenagers? Benefit recipients? No, it was a group of female pensioners...basically led by a foul mouthed, gypsy, whose attitude would have seen me bar her and her cohorts from any of my bars/pubs, for life. (23 years a publican) Disgusting and unforgivable behaviour, from a demographic, who should frankly know better. Hopefully they will be barred from EVER returning. UPDATE II. If you are in the area and you visit the WEB...you might find yourself being amazed by the 'close up', magic performance of a young barman called Mike. His card tricks are quite extraordinary and as an ex-publican I would have loved to had an employee with such an astonishing talent...obviously he can't perform during his work shift, but if he's not rushing home at the end of it...you are in for a real treat. He kept 8 people entertained for about 15 minutes, never charged a penny and probably received nothing from his boss.
