Reviews of Ye Olde Whyte Harte
D. N.
On a busy evening our group of 3 were accommodated and informed of the 30 minute food order wait. We had a round of drinks and perused the menu. We didn't have to wait long before our server was in attendance to ask what we would like to order. Although we were prepared for a 30 minute wait, in the end it was nearer to 20 minutes when our food was delivered. 3 different meals and all wonderfully presents and very flavoursome. Will definitely be back.

We had an absolutely fabulous lunch today. Portions are big, food is freshly cooked, service is great. The pub is friendly and quaint. We all e joyed our food
A. F.
We love this pub, however are disappointed with our recent visit of bar staff serving us drinks is filthy glasses (they had lipstick around them) and under experienced staff. There’s lots of competition in Hamble so this kind of thing is important. The pub itself and in particular the little garden is wonderful, just don’t let standards slip!
R. W.
Food was very nice and if you ordered the large size it was worth the price. The barman was friendly, polite and welcoming. Toilets were clean and there was plenty of seats.
G. S.
Fabulous menu, never had a bad meal in here. Always has excellent real ales on draught and the service is great - nothing is too much trouble.
In fact it's so welcoming the only issue is I'm always later home than planned... 🤣
S. P.
Good atmosphere. Lovely open fire. Friendly staff and most importantly well kept beer. Had a pint of HSB which went down very well. Visited a couple of times when in the area and always have a good time. Thanks team at ye olde whyte harte.
R. E.
Nice older location with a warm, inviting interior. The staff were friendly and were good at chatting. Service was prompt and my food came out quickly.
Didn't have time to partake in a full meal but I did enjoy my Whitebait which also was the first time I've tried the dish. It was quite tasty and I definitely would eat it again.
Nice location and it was an easy walk. I'd recommend a visit to this pub!

We had lunch in this pub while visiting Hamble and found it very hospitable and friendly. The food was good and the service excellent. Our dog was also given a warm welcome with water and biscuits. We were mesmerised by the giant log fire and enjoyed our experience at Ye Olde Whyte Harte thanks Charlie for making us feel so welcome.
M. N.
Friendly and cozy atmosphere makes the Whyte Harte staff a great classic pub.
Worth checking out garden and potting shed which have been transformed for summer. For food, delicious roasts on Sunday and quick supper of fajitas earlier in the week.
R. S.
With an open fire burning brightly, 2 PM on a Saturday afternoon with a pint of well kept HSB in hand, this was the place to be on a cold crisp day. Many locals gathered in this cosy, dark pub chatting away. We met a little Jack Russell and his owner so this pub is dog friendly. Worth visiting.
V. V.
Good roast dinner.. had a veggy option with nut roast. Log fire was very welcome on a cold January afternoon.. cosy!
D. J.
The staff were very friendly, good food and drinks. Made to feel very welcome, will definitely go again.
P. T. P.
Good atmosphere at this friendly pub with good staff, quality unpretentious food and prices that are acceptable for what's offered.
A. G.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good pub food.
H. T.
Had a meal in the white harte. Great service and delicious mulled wine. However, ordered the fish pie not realising this was gluten free, it was also dairy free. Please change menu to highlight what dishes are gluten free. I felt the dishwas very overpriced at £18.
D. D.
Nice bar area
Friendly atmosphere
Beautiful beer garden at the rear
Worth a visit...
Not the cheapest place to drink ££££
N. W.

P. T.
Fantastic pub with excellent chef Steve he is top class.
S.
Lovely old pub inside and out especially the herb garden at the back. Fullers pub but also had Gales ales. High quality pub food, fairly priced. Friendly staff.
T. C.
Always enjoy the food, great service and atmosphere.
The steak tonight was the best I've had anywhere in a long time.
I would say " well done " but mine was medium rare to perfection !
Many thanks to all !
r. w.
food was excellent with a good selection of gluten free options. They also stock gluten free Peroni lager. First time we have been there, but will definitely return.
R. S.
Greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff, asked if we preferred indoor or outdoor dining, very helpful, lovely garden area. Lots of shade with the parasols that were in place. All in all a very pleasant lunch trip with work colleagues 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
K. A.
Wonderful pub with proper fireplace. And partridge at least was delicious 😊
M. S.

D. W.
Great service and Amazing food...We had the belly pork and it was the best I've ever had....And I am nearly 50 lol...
G. C.
Nice pub with friendly staff and locals
M. W.
Lovely old place to have a pint and a bit to eat. Staff are very friendly and the food (Home made burger and chips) was excellent. Social distancing was observed. Parking out the back. Dog friendly.
J. B.
Food was superb, staff were distant. A warm welcome would have been lovely but I didn't get one
J. S.
Went in for a quick bite. The menu was appealing, but I only had the sweet potato fries. Obviously freshly done. Nice staff as well.
D. F.
Really enjoyed this pub. It has such a warm and inviting feel and has a great selection for ale drinkers like myself. I was only having drinks but the food I could see on diners plates looked amazing. The pub staff were really welcoming and let me sample a couple of beers to help me make my beer choice. I shall definitely be heading back to sample some more!
P. R.
Fawlty Towers'esque; comedy gold.
Dropped in here on Friday evening having watched the Hants vs Essex T20 game @ Ageas Bowl in the afternoon.
The rear beer garden is a really nice spot, the range of beers was good and the food the 3 of us ordered was all pretty good.
However, the service was a shambles, so poor that in the end it actually became really funny waiting to see what they got wrong next. We had everything from a pile of plates being cleared from a nearby table being dropped and shattering at our feet, to having the wrong drinks delivered for each of the two rounds that we ordered (after waiting about 20 mins for the second round to turn up) but the highlight was reserved for an elderly couple seated near to us. They had been seated for over half an hour before having to get up to ask if someone could actually take their order. Profuse apologies were offered and eventually the pub's version of Fawlty Towers' Manuel was sent out to remedy the situation. He turned up and produced the bottle of red wine that the couple had been waiting to order with a flourish, only to realise that the bottle he had brought out for them had already been opened and was already half empty. Cue more grovelling apologies as 'Manuel' beat an embarrassed and hasty retreat much to the couples bemusement.
We may have just got them on a bad night, or perhaps they are only slowly getting back up to speed following the lockdowns, but if it's polished service you're after you'll need to look elsewhere...
P. L.
Really nice and newly decked out garden and rear dining area. Great food, and helpful friendly staff. The mussels we had were excellent and good quality, nice sauce and although many were unopened, an extra portion was given when requested. Look forward to eating there again. 5 stars:-)
P. R.
Friendly helpful staff / Land lord. The pub itself is Family and dog friendly. A long bar and seating for food. We didn't eat, but the food looked lovely and smelled gorgeous. Good array of booze (beers lagers, wines, gins etc). At the back of the pub is a "secret" room called the potting shed. Which lead to the garden. Two wonderful spaces. To eat drink and chill. There is a TV in the potting shed for maybe football, rugby, events etc. We really enjoyed our time there. Chatting to locals and staff. While drinking Guinness and gins. We didn't want to leave! Highly recommended.
T. P.
The meal was good but we had to wait some time for it. Lovely staff. Was able to park in their small car park. Walking distance to the River. Lovely.
J. P.
The drink very good if you come with dog the customs are very good for the dog. The food I have the sausage chip egg. The eggs cook perfectly the team works hard and very friendly I love this pub 5 out 5 ,please try this pub them will do they best for you as single person siting at the bar area it was nice great to listen to the sound and it was good back ground sound.very great is was busy but great service All around.
Thank you for the staff for making time to sit down to have a meal
M. V.
Nice little local pub. Good food, good selection of drinks, and a really nice atmosphere with friendly staff.
We were there as part of a larger group with a couple of small children and the staff were very amenable. Food was a tad slower than the kids would have liked, but was excellent - very tasty and enjoyed by all.
Would highly recommend.
N. H.
Amazing pub, great staff, the food is amazing - make sure you book! Charlie, especially, is the most fantastic manager! 🥰
S. “. T.
Stopped for a quick drink on a warm Sunday afternoon and ended up ordering the roast dinner. Excellent food, good portion size and the staff were really friendly.
We are definately going here again.
Dog friendly pub too, limited parking, but walkable from nearby main car park.
d. y.
A nice place to eat great menu
B. N.
I have been coming here for over 15 years. This place has always been a stable place for a good night with excellent food and a great selection of local ales, and of course friendly and helpful staff. Chia, the owner, has recently revamped the entire venue, and it is light and breezy and is even more comfortable to be in. You cannot go wrong here. 😁
W. B.
Gorgeous little pun very friendly staff.
P. L.
Lovely local pub. Very good food and service, friendly staff and landlady, highly recommended.
m. I. w.
Food is amazing tastes really good and the portion sizes is spot on.
The pub is really nice great fire place.
I had the lamb and it was perfect.
Nachos are the best I've tried and the eaton mess taste so good.
F. H.
Came for a meal with a large group of adults and two children. Lovely pub, food was great, only downside was that service was slow. The restaurant was empty for most of our meal but it still took ages between courses. Having said that we will be back for another try.
M. P.
Great food and atmosphere.
Brilliant for apres sail.
Great beer garden. Good vibe.
i. m.
Great fireplace and very welcoming cheery staff
P. C.
Lovely old pub original features low ceilings etc. Very friendly staff, good food and pleasant atmosphere at a good price. Only teeny teensy issue, the car park is very tight for modern cars.
F.
Great food with generous portions. Service is friendly and helpful and the old pub itself is a pleasure to visit with its very welcoming fire place.
D. W.
Absolutely amazing little place. Totally gorgeous to look at inside and out. With great staff. Won't get there often but will get there again.
J. L.
Nice pub and good ales
K. C.
Good beer and decent pub food. Friendly staff and a nice sheltered garden area.
B. C.
Amazing rustic cosy atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff and so helpful.... The chef chucked some Sunday roast leftovers into a bowl for my Shih Tzu and I've never seen my dog enjoy a meal as much. For free! I seriously recommend the beef chilli nachos.... Heaven on a plate
P. H.
Cosy atmosphere with log fire. Friendly service. Food was ok but nothing special. My chips were overcooked but fish was good. Nachos were blackened but topping was tasty. Just needs a few tweaks in the kitchen
T. C.
Great atmosphere, great ale and good selection of Gluten Free meals on menu.
C. L.
Great proper pub, child friendly and the best beer battered fish and chips I have eaten. Excellent value. Recommended!
A. L.
Make sure you go through the pub, up the stairs, through the tented marquee and onto the patio area. Its amazing.
D. R.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch. The roast beef was excellent. Nice welcoming staff with good service. I wouldn't hesitate to go again.
A. L.
A fireplace in the middle of the pub gives an extra touch to the cozy atmosphere. A wide range of good beer and a appropriate menu card gives you a good possibility for a nice experence. If you're in the neighborhood it's worth a visit.
A. M.
Friendly staff, nice and cozy for a quick lunch on a cold Friday. My only problem would be very few options for vegans and vegetarians. The chilli beans dish was too spicy for me, but I'm weak for spicy food anyway. My husband thought it was mild. 😀 Good experience.
A. S.
Always amazing, food is fantastic, beer is kept very well and above all the customer service is top notch. Very friendly pub for everyone to feel welcome and enjoy.
N. C.
What a lovely pub at top end of hamble. Loved the back room leading out to the courtyard garden
C. K.
Only popped in for a drink as we do when we are in Hamble. The staff are always welcoming and very friendly. Lovely old world pub, have not eaten here recently, but the food always use to be very good
S. R.
Ate here on Easter Monday. Everyone decided to do the same I think. Although busy we were lucky enough to get a table and had some good pub food. Although the Lasagne did taste nice it wasn't a lasagne. More like a cottage pie with pasta. Had peppers, carrots and peas in it.
L. N.
Lovely open fire in the middle.
Friendly and attentive staff. Great table decorations.
Menu looks good.
Chairs are old church seats
C. C.
Excellent traditional pub with fantastic food and friendly staff
K. G.
Great food, excellent service! Would definitely go back to this lovely pub after being so well looked after.

(Translated) Always a warm atmosphere in this traditional pub, good quality food, a good selection of beers and friendly service. Also depending on the budget we can opt for typical dishes "pub food" at affordable prices or something more sought after at 16-20 GBP the dish.

(Translated) With a friend, strolling around English towns, we were looking for a good English pub to drink real ale, enjoy the atmosphere of English pubs and at the same time try the national snack fish & chips. And by chance we wandered into this place. We got what we wanted in abundance ... Atmosphere, responsive staff (and yes, they helped us choose ale for a very long time - this is a big plus), clean, and most importantly - delicious. Honestly, for a long time I will remember the taste of this fish in batter and potatoes. I recommend to everyone! The only thing that confused me a little, though, you need to understand, where, etc., but still, the prices are above average, so, gentlemen, open a bigger wallet
