Reviews of The Tinners Arms
Fanrastic pub in Zennor. Short distance from some fabulous coastal walks. The Tinners (aka Doom Bar) is delicious. Good, well priced food. Nachos were a hit with the kids. Friendly staff. Looks like a great quiz too on a Thursday night.
The best Sunday roast! Lovely, friendly staff, and great service.
Also has lots of outdoor seating in good weather.
100% recommend The Tinners!
Love this place, had some really good fish and chips after a walk along the coast path from St Ive's. The walk is not for the faint hearted, but The Tinners is definitely a great place to end up and you can always get the bus back. Check times as the buses only run during high season.
So this review is to tell you to stay away from the secret treasure that is the Tinners Arms. You don't want to go here, definitely not , absolutely never ever.
The Fish and Chips was fabulous especially the fish- locally caught, the drinks, I have it on very good authority from my very great friends, A locally made cider Grevedy (?) and the Mermaid ale was amazing and very much appreciated. A big shout out to Bar Lady Sarah and Kitchen Lady Hannah for their excellent service, friendly chat and helpful natures.
The Tinners Arms is not a large pub so it is very much a first come first serve basis so if you are doing the coastal walk from St Ives to Zennor the pub is a very welcome spot to rest and imbibe some lovely refreshments and enjoy some great food.
The only downside was that we had to walk the 12km/ 7.4 miles to get there :)
Having said that the sights were amazing and the last view from the Zennor headland is really beautiful. Oh and we did get to see a couple of seals too.
Thanks Sarah and Hannah hope to see you again sometime, (Good to meet hubby too).
This is a gorgeous traditional pub in a beautiful Cornish Village. The beer is very well kept and the food is delicious. Not to be missed if you are in this lovely corner of Cornwall.
Only stayed one night, very clean and comfortable. Staff very welcoming. Didn't eat in the pub due to other commitments but the food looked good.
Lovely Character Cornish pub at its best.
Great fresh food and service.
Ample parking and super views and coastal walks. Photos taken very close by to the pub.
We stayed at the Tinners Arms as part of our coast path hiking holiday. The room was quaint and comfortable with a great view. We at a breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the pub, which was cozy with very friendly and efficient servers. The food and drinks were very good. This was one of our favorite inns of our three week vacation and we would stay and eat here again.
Lovely food including a couple of gluten free options. Perfect stop if you’re in the area or having completed the coast path walk. It does get very busy on a nice day! They do gluten free san Miguel which was a bonus too!!
This place Zennor is magical I travel up and down the whole of UK with work this Village as to my Favourite and Tinner Arms is so Wonderful ASWELL
lunch time and dinner time both are very popular. We visited there twice to have lunch outside and drank local beer and cider at night. local food is fresh and tasty, cider in fresh and ginzy, and beer is various kinds of taste and flavour.
Love this old pub, great beers and range of ciders, really friendly staff but it does get very busy! When it's sunny, there's more space available as there's loads of outdoor seating for eating and drinking. I recommend a moderate walk around Zennor Head to build up a good thirst (rocky paths, steep inclines and uneven steps, but well marked), followed by a couple of pints of the Cornish Cider (7%)!!
Called in for a drink and saw the menu so decided to have lunch. We both decided on Smoked mackerel ploughman's which was lovely. Really friendly welcome also, Highly recommend.
Great pub. Chilled vibes. Parking just a £1 Honesty box.
Fresh Crab sandwich with good quality and amount of crab. Lovely side salad too.
hiya! went to the Tinners Arms for a drink then saw the great menu!! really really good food and lovely service!! staff are jolly and kind! food is well priced and tasty. didn’t have to wait long for food or drinks! very nice garden to enjoy one of the many beers they have to choose from. when i went they also had a beer festival happening so had lots of cornish beer to choose from and a bbq in the garden that was very good!! close to lots of lovely walks around Zennor. so is a good place to have a well deserved lunch or dinner at! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at The White House at The Tinners Arms and it was an exceptional experience. The room was immaculate, with top-notch facilities that made our stay very comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, as were the locals, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bar offered an extensive selection of drinks, catering to a variety of tastes. To top it all off, the cooked breakfast was outstanding, setting a perfect start to the day. I highly recommend The White House at The Tinners Arms to anyone looking for a delightful and hospitable stay.
An excellent pub set in the heart of Zennor with a pretty beer garden.
Freindly staff despite being currently very busy with the summer season.
Food is served from 5 last orders at 7pm in the evening. You can't book tables so earlier is better although you can sit in the garden and have a drink whilst waiting for a table.
Would recommend the Moules with Eton Mess to follow. Fish and chips and their burgers also looked great.
Generous portions and good value.
It is worth taking the Cornish footpath from the pub there is a circular route steep in places but reveals the spectacular cornish coast and the history surrounding this special place.
Moo Maid is fabulous for Icecream teas and coffees with outside seating and a lovely gift shop.
Have been visiting here since 1989. Love it. One of my favourite bars in Cornwall. Often take visitors here for a brew. Main bar is small but has a lovely, dark, homely feel to it. Outside beer garden is great too. Recommended.
Great food and drinks. Staff very friendly. Sat outdoors in glorious sunshine in fabulous area of Cornwall
Lovely quaint pub with great outside seating too on a nice day. Both times it was raining so we squeezed inside. Must try food on another occasion.
We really enjoyed the fish and chips. The batter was perfect and the rest of it was really tasty. The staff were friendly and the garden is a great place to sit and enjoy a pint. Inside is full of character. There was a bit of a mix up when I was paying for the food and beers when another barman added someone else's drinks on to mine but it was all sorted out without any fuss. It's definitely worth getting a bowlful of the peanuts out of the huge jar on the bar. Very tasty!
Wonderful little pub with fresh homemade food.
We have eaten here a couple of time's and will definitely return.. The food is delicious, setting is beautiful and staff are really lovely. What more can you ask for. Thanks team, keep up the excellent work 🌿
My first visit and I have to say it's my kind of place. From what I've seen it's a single, fairly narrow room with stone floor and fireplace at each end. Ambience is verging on cave like (in a good way), cosy with a strong aroma of log fires. The Sharp's Zennor Mermaid is a fine pint. I can imagine wonderful evenings being spent in here with friends, family and strangers. The only down side for me are the other beers on offer; I'm not a fan of Skinner's beers at all.
I’ve had to post a review on this fabulous little pub. I can’t understand where the 1 star, slating review was coming from! Amazing pub, lovely staff, fantastic food and drinks. Can’t wait to go back. 😀😀
Wonderful proper Cornish pub in the most incredible surroundings. Food was fantastic, beer was local, inside was cosy and the garden where we sat was great (if a bit muddy). Definitely coming back.
Wonderful little pub. Well worth a visit.
Brilliant stay. Great food, cosy and friendly
A place to visit if you're around the area. Lovely walk out to the head land on the coastal path and back to the Tinners Pub which dates back to the year 1312.
Food was wonderful, along with the local beers. Heading back for sure.
Great place to visit on the great road from St Ives! Food was great as was the beer (Mermaid in particular).
Booking essential in season!
I was so keen to get there ... walked from st ives ( coastal path) that the sole of my boot fell off..
But worth it lovely pub ,beautiful log fire excellent beer and attentive staff... splendid ham sandwich... tough walk though
A lovely warm welcome, order not long to come just perfect timing. The food Crab sandwiches no skimping on the crab, delicious. And with a side salad . perfect. Lovely pub and the gardens outside where we ate spot on x Thank you for a lovely afternoon My husband had the ham egg and chips , well fed . We will be back to try the Sunday Roast .
Amazing pub, one of the best I’ve ever visited. Lovely and friendly staff, great slap up lunch after walking from St.Ives to Zennor round the cliffs. 10/10 would recommend!
Really great, atmospheric pub with an excellent range of food and drink. We were attending a charity beer festival, with extra local beers and ciders plus a barbecue, and sat outside in the sun in the terrace/beer garden area. Complemented by live music, it was a great event. We'd popped over from Penzance via the 16A Transport for Cornwall (red) bus. Very convenient and timely, and overall a great day out.
Top quality food, great outside area, fantastic old pub inside.
Wonderful querkie. Ye olde style to it
Very friendly staff good food .GREAT local BEER.
yum 😋yum
Stayed here for one night walking the SW coast path. Room was lovely. Food was tasty. Highly recommended.
Cute cosy pub. Only had a pint but very sweet place. Lovely roaring fire. Very nice place. Walks nearby are spectacular 🌊
The staff was friendly we all enjoyed our meals I ordered a child size portion fish and chips which was plenty for me it was lovely and came out hot. We was a group of 6 and every one enjoyed their meals. Walking Inside the Tinners arms was like stepping back in time with its rustic fire place, and just the right amount of light. the We sat outside and enjoyed an amazing view of the area with cows grazing in the feilds. A truly beautiful place to visit.
Fantastic pub, great service and really enjoyable food. Had the crab sandwich which was expensive but really lovely and fresh. The chocolate brownie with clotted cream was amazing ! Perfect stop after a walk along the coast. Highly recommend.
Best Veggie Burger Ever !!
I have never eaten such a delicious veggie burger. No chef has ever put so much thought into it. Lovely smokey flavour and it was juicy too! Didn’t feel like a veggie option that had been begrudgingly thrown on last minute as they sometimes do. The bread bun was also very nice.
Perfect portion size- chips looked like a small amount at first but I felt full at the end and still just about had room for pudding. The brownie had fresh strawberry slices on top and a scoop of very tasty icecream.
My dad said his pint was good and I had a strawberry gin which again had lots of sliced strawberry in it ! Wonderful :) friendly staff too- whenever I come to Cornwall I will be coming back!
The minute I walked into bar, I could feel the comfortableness. The welcome was second to none. Loved it. The bubble and squeak was like my mum used to make. Dog friendly too.
Great food, great service! Staff friendly and the outside is beautiful! Inside the pub is dark and cosy like a proper pub should be. Great place to refuel after a walk around the beautiful surroundings. Also delicious local ice cream for pud. Really recommend.
Amazing pub, with super friendly staff. We topped and tailed a walk along the breathtaking coastal path, lunch and drinks before and drinks after and we couldn't be made to feel more welcome.
The open fires and hops on the rafters gave a lovely olden day feel to the pub. Can't wait to go back.
A beautiful and popular old pub in a stunning setting in the village of Zennor. We sat outside in the garden and were served quickly by a friendly waiter. The food was delicious.
Popped in for a drink while passing by. Lovely garden to sit and enjoy your drink in the sun
Great food and service.
Fantastic mussels
This was the best pub I went to in Cornwall. Built in 1271 for the workers building the chapel right behind it, there are multiple places to sit and eat from the original stone pub to the airy wooden alcove to the huge garden and patio outside. Great selection of ales and the menu was amazing; daily lunch specials with cheap sandwiches along with the wider lunch/dinner menu. I had the rustic chicken stew with granary bread and I could've had it every day of my trip. Especially good as a destination after a walk along the north coast!
Food was great. Especially crab salad although the blt and chilli nachos were also a big hit with family. Highly recommend the Zennor Mermaid ale and the beer garden is beautiful with church belles ringing in background.
It's a wonderful very old pub with great beers an amazing selection of Whisky's, it also has a nice beer garden which is needed as the pub itself has only one bar as it is a 14 century building!
Decent pub, good food, good ale and a nice gin selection. Staff were great, we had our Labrador with us and they doted over him! Super casual, family friendly, worth a visit.
Nowhere else to have a drink in this village but this place is lovely. Staff are welcoming. Great ice cold Cornish lager and iced water on tap. Perfect after a long hike.
Interesting local pub with a great atmosphere, nice beers but sadly experience was let down by half of the things on the menu not being available. They obviously cater to the holidaymaker so not really good enough just because not height of the season that basics on menu not available.
The loveliest, kindest and most generous crew in the cosiest pub in the most romantic setting. A surprisingly varied range of good local beers and decent food but, mostly, people with hearts and genuine interest/involvement with their guests. Thank you so much Fi and the gang for making our special 48 hours even more special and lovely. Looking forward to returning, Mike and Kristina.
Absolutely smashing pub. One of the best in Cornwall. Independent, authentic - great barmen, well kept unique ales and excellent food. Great ambiance as well.
Don’t miss this pub. It’s amazing and un-pretentious. Had dinner here twice in the past 3 days with my family. It’s just one of the nicest pubs I’ve visited in the U.K. Food is delicious, staff is very nice, great beers.
Peaceful surroundings beautiful garden with little visitors on your table for tip bits. Good selection of drinks. Popular with ramblers. Open top bus available every quarter to the hour.
Always pay a visit to this very old character inn on my way down the south west of Cornwall. The food is lovely and good choice of real ale with good service from the staff. Lovely little hamlet. Visit the church opposite whilst there also to see the very old mermaid seat.
Very expensive, £4.70 for a pint, landlord boasting about takjngs to staff in earshot of customers. Efficient but bossy service, mediocre chips, very stodgy. They can get away with it being the only pub around, but overall quite disappointing!
A tale of 2 pubs.
One side of the pub is a very modern, light and airy room which was partly being used as a t-shirt shop when we came.
The other side is the "old" pub with the ambience and atmosphere mentioned in so many of the reviews. If you're here for the history it's worth pointing out that the beams and panelling don't look like the originals. The floor is also a perfectly flat concrete slab.
My wife and both had the Seafood Linguine and what a great meal it was! We had done a 10km walk and were really hungry and we both struggled to finish it. It was a feast and excellent 👍
Delicious, hearty food and decent, quality beer, served by friendly, attentive staff in cosy, traditional surroundings. Zennor is a beautiful spot right in the heart of old tin-mining country. It's a short walk past the pub down to the coastline, but enough to justify a long period of refreshment afterwards. There's also a nice beer garden which is lovely in the summer.
I had a crab sandwich. Super fresh - almost a different product. My wife was impressed with her squid too. Very envious of people living in Cornwall with access to such good seafood
Always good here. Food great, beer great, wine great! Lovely garden to sit in...Bus stop at end of the road. Ancient sites and scenic walks abound. Perfect!
Great place, we stop for dinner on route back from Sennen to St Ives. Great pub food, beer and wine.
Great pub... Lovely garden & location...
Such a lovely Inn tucked away very friendly and welcoming, with great food and big portions infront of a nice open fire. The rooms are very clean and comfortable 👌
Popular place to visit. Food is excellent just the old place you can relax in while eating and having a drink
Lovlely little pub. Called in after a three and a half hour coastal walk from St Ives. Ran out of time for food as we needed to get the bus back so can't comment, but the Tinners Ale was a delight. Will definitely try again.
Great pub. Great Food. Reasonable prices for a pub which is pretty isolated. Lots of outdoor seating and a great way to end the St Ives to Zennor walk. Bus stop just round the corner.
We walked to the Tinners Arms from St Ives for lunch - the starters ( soup ) was very good - however the crab sandwiches (main) course at £13.50 was extortionate and no where large enough to warrant the price tag. Lovely old watering hole though ...
Absolutely first class. The staff were excellent and our meal was spot on. Highly recommend the pies! One of the best ever.
Good local beer. Nice food and good range of options. Maybe a little pricey but a lovely location and view from the garden. Staff welcoming and helpful.
Wish we had arrived in time for food. Really lovely pub, lots of outdoor space, cosy and welcoming inside.
Great Pub that we stayed in for one night on a trip from Penzance to St. Ives. Best food we had in England. Great collection of Ciders and Ales.
Great old pub in a fabulous location. Good food, service & Beer, what's not to like!
It gets better with every visit. We had a lovely meal, even our dog had a biscuit. Highly recommended.
Good pub with authentic rustic atmosphere in a picturesque setting. Prices for food and drinks reasonable
Wonderful old pub with good ale and food. Large beer garden also.
What a cozy place by the fire in this little town, we loved it!
Absolutely cool place. The food was very good and inexpensive. The church next door is also very beautiful
Rustic pub with friendly staff and a great beer garden.
We ate well and enjoyed the atmosphere.
We had the house steak. Was absolutely delicious. Lovely outdoor area to sit.
Nice room... nice people and great food....
A surprise on my hike, good selection and traditional had a brownie with ice cream, the main courses at the neighboring table were very nicely prepared, the selection was very varied
We came in as a group of runners after a long trail session, and the pub couldn't have been more welcoming! The staff were friendly, accommodating our muddy shoes and big appetites with a smile. Great selection of food and drinks, great atmosphere, and plenty of space (we sat in the large garden) for our group to relax and refuel. It’s not always easy to find a place that embraces an energetic crew like ours, but this pub nailed it. We’ll definitely be back—cheers for the warm hospitality!
We walked the walk from red dot to red dot shown in my photograph, and stopped at the end for a pint at The Tinners Arms in the centre of Zennor.
We thought this a great pub, with a selection of unique beers (brewed by local / Cornish brewers).
It was busy at Easter, and I imagine it will get only busier through the summer. We queued “ages” at the bar just to buy drinks.
Stopped here with a big group of Hayle Runners after our Sunday adventure, food was so quickly served, delicious, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Really great pub. Will defo be back.
3 weeks ago before my daughter's wedding we were down cleaning the front of the church and the people in the Tinners were so helpful- amazing support
Returned today for lunch and it was fantastic, quick and tasty
We sat outside and ate fish and chips in their garden. Lovely food, excellent location.
Great pub,we stopped there on our coastal walk👍
Excellent food and service. Beautiful setting and very scenic. Highly recommended
Wonderful character, large outdoor seating area, good selection of food. Live folk music. Was amazing to reach after long walk along coastal path. On rainy days could get cramped. Limited range of ales.
Great place to drop in during coastal walk and especially when raining
One of my favourite places on earth - wonderful location, great beers and ciders, no phone signal, great food, open fires and board games to while away the hours.
Fantastic place with great food and friendly staff. Wonderful outdoor area to enjoy the food and drink.
If you are ever in the area the Tinners Arms should definitely be on your to do list!
Had a coffee and a bite. The pub itself is quite amazing. And… The service was bright and friendly. Thanks Sheryl!!!
Great food in a sublime location.
it may be out of the way and parking is a little tight, but it is well worth the visit!
