A one off visit, passing by and stopped for a drink initially. Took a while as the bar was busy and only one serving. Decided to eat after all. Large Lamb and Mint Suet Pudding dish. Not available and hasn't been for a while due to Suppliers. Note to Manager - place a removable sticker "unavailable" over items that have been off the menu for a few weeks or more. Saves frustration for Patrons when looking forward to a dish. Swapped for the Chicken and Mushroom in a white wine sauce. There was absolutely NO STEAM rising from this dish, none whatsoever. The wine sauce nor the new potatoes. Partner said it was luke warm, but wouldn't let me say anything to the staff. I chose the chicken enchilada, which severely lacked cheese and sauce. NO STEAM. The only food item that had steam was the bowl of rice, which was probably just out of the microwave. When staff came to collect the plates, they asked me a question referring to the enchilada. I passed a comment on the severe lack of cheese, to which they replied "yeah, they do tend to be stingy on the cheese" !?!? The staff were friendly and despite the food issues above, it was still tasty. We live by Wolverhampton, so wouldn't frequent.

Loved it , I had hunters mixed grill and all the meat was clearly of very good quality not your hungry horse rubbish , if you love meat this is the place to go , my daughter had the chicken burritto Which she loved and my son the southern fried chicken burger

Food portion sizes were incredible! Quality of food was incredible! The large size meaty ribs were bigger than my head, definitely bigger than my belly, been here twice for it, not finished it either time, took leftovers home both times, far too nice to allow it to go to waste, if this place was closer to home I'd not go anywhere else for food. Friends loved it each time we've gone too.

Popped out for an impromptu meal with Mrs C. Hadn't been here before, but looked a lovely pub from the outside when passing by. We sat at a table and looked through the menu, while others were being served. The meals coming from the kitchen looked amazing, and therefore assumed we were in for a treat. We skipped the starters and went straight for a main. We both opted for the rib eye steak, 'medium rare' which came with peas and chips. Mrs C also ordered onion rings and garlic bread as sides. Well, when it arrived at our table, (in what I'd call reasonable time), the first thing we noticed was the lack of peas and chips. I'd say, being completely honest, about a tablespoon of peas and around a handful of chips. No offer of condiments from waitress, so Mrs C went to find some English mustard and a drop of ketchup. 😋 Unfortunately, these were to be found, in useless sachets. The 'english' mustard was closer to French/American than anything, which ruined the steak for me. The steak which was nearer rare/still pulsing, as was Mrs C's, fair enough I could have asked the chef to cook it more, but in my experience, it's just not worth the aggravation. All in all, not great, there are other pub restaurants around, so probably won't be back here. Its not bad, just not great.

For the past 15 years we have loved going here for excellent food. And today didnt disappoint. The service was also up to usual standard. However it seems covid has had its impact. We had to wait 20 mins outside to be allowed in. I parked in a disabled bay by the entrance which was ideal to access the way in. The way out was through the conservatory which is very awkward when you cant walk and the car is in the disabled bay??. We were actually stopped from exiting the way we came in. The coffee machine was broke so no hot drinks. The bill was wrong at the end, but was amended afterwards. We will go again because the food and service are without doubt 5*. The hunters mixed grill and sunday lunch were today as good today as they were in the past.

A really nice 'village' pub. Our first visit. Went at 6.45pm for tea. I chose the very tasty Large Lamb and Mint Suet Pudding and my wife chose the Homemade Cottage Pie, also Garlic Bread. Good prices. Good sized tables with comfy Faux Leather high back chairs. Swift service by efficient staff. Hot meals. Good sized portions. Highly Recommended. Only downside is, the sticky carpet underfoot.

This was my first time here but the friends we went with have recommended this place. We went on a Sunday lunch time service where it was busy but that is expected. However I didn't have to wait long to order a drink or order our food. I ordered the steak & ale pie with think cut chips and pie which was spot on. The pastry was flakey and the meat was juicy. My partner ordered the lamb shank which came with mash, peas and gravy. I tried some of the meat & it tasted wonderful. The price of the food wasn't that high but the quality of the food makes it worth it.

Perfect steak, beautiful home made Diane sauce, lost stars because the chips and peas were cheap and nasty, lukewarm and spoilt the dish. Upgrade your chips. Staff friendly.

A fairly comprehensive menu although quality not the best - a large salad in lieu of chips/ potato accompaniment consisted of a small amount of lettuce, tomato and onion, not very appealing or filling. Chicken & mushroom sauce was lacking in mushrooms ! The restaurant itself was reasonably clean & warm, although a refurbishment is needed, particularly regarding the outer doors and toilets. Service was decent and an accurate bill was provided.

Been using this establishment for over 40years. Went last night for a meal and sadly the check in system not good and extremely slow. Waiting outside for over 15 minutes with elderly parents struggling with the standing for that long. This was followed by individual sign ins even though we should all be covered on my app sign in. Happy it was not raining as we would all have been soaked with the lengthy wait. Some people gave up and drove away. Not good for business hence 3 stars. Food was good staff helpful but a bit thin on the ground. So disappointed as we have always enjoyed coming here but may sadly be a while before we return. A reply from the owner would be appreciated.

Great pub, large menu. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had beef Bourgogne, mixed grill and the chilli con carne. Followed by hot chocolate fudge cake and the apple tart. Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. Will definitely come again.

Food lovely. Since Covid obviously restrictions and one way system but they need to make allowances for wheelchairs and people who aren’t so able to walk . The disabled spaces are at the side of the property but the walking out is at the back of the property. It made it really difficult for my Mum. Wish you could book a table instead of walk in only as on Sunday’s queuing outside. On a positive the nice thing is your not restricted to just Sunday lunches the whole menu is open to. Been lots of times before Covid and the food is just as good . Prices are reasonable.

Went on a Monday lunchtime.....only one other diner....had fish & chips for 4.95....fish was breaded and not battered as described in the menu....pretty small...but okay for the price I suppose, overall the food tasted okay....for your information it's only a light bite and you'll be hungry again pretty soon....no check back from waitress who was not entirely rushed off her feet.....not sure if I would visit again

Called in on the off chance, wow glad we did... food was amazing we had the carvery very good choice of vegetables meat was tender can't fault it. Staff very friendly too. Over hearing the next table where a portion of chips were missed off their order straight away another portion was delivered to them and waitress said these will not be added to your bill. That's what I call customer satisfaction. Will definitely call again.

Went here for a birthday with 12 people. Preferred foods, good that they all came out together, however it was obvious that some meals had day on the side in the kitchen as they were cold! We didn't like to say anything although we should have done as it's a lot of money to pay out and some not to enjoy. The carpet in the conservatory was sticky in places underfoot. On a positive note the bar area is nice, they have a fantastic menu with loads too choose from, price wise most meals are £10+. The waiting on staff were nice.

Don't like it here...... I love it! Always great food and service from the very friendly, attentive staff. Visited tonight with hubby and friends (newbies) and had lovely meals. Hunters mixed grill (hubby's favourite) with added mushrooms, curly fries and peppercorn sauce, foot long sausage meal, chicken tikka and finally a rump steak. There really is choice for everyone and no quality sacrificed. Waiting time maybe 20 mins if that. Big shout out to the kitchen team who do an amazing job and are sometimes forgotten. Thank you for another great experience. Last but not least.... ice cream. Just one of the many desserts but again hubby's favourite. Don't know where he puts it after that Hunters mixed grill! Vanilla, mint choc and salted caramel chosen from a large list and well presented separately. Needless to say nothing was left! Would highly recommend a visit here, and whilst there is a no bookings policy we've never had trouble turning up and being accommodated. Also easy to find with ample parking, a large conservatory, outdoor seating and carvery available.

What a cracking village pub this is. I have been twice before and it has not disappointed the general pub meals are really good (says the wife) but the steaks are gorgeous I've had the T-bone and ribeye steak absolutely delicious and cooked to your liking I can totally recommend this place. Twice now we've been for the Sunday Carvery, and twice I've had the 'mega' option. This is Sunday Carvery at its best! The fact that you can buy the meat to cook some of their other dishes at home (inc. their 20oz Mixed Grill!) is the icing on the cake!

We absolutely love this place for special occasions, my dad, mum & partner really enjoy the mixed grills or steaks, im vegetarian and the food is always lovely (although they could maybe do with changing the veggie dishes as they have been the same for a fair few years) the meat is always cooked to perfection and is always fantastic quality, as for the drinks they could do with a better cider and a good guest ale but those things definitely wouldn't stop us visiting as the food is that good and always comes out piping hot, the ice cream gets a big thumbs up from our daughter so much so she asked for more and thats never happened haha
