Reviews of The Plume of Feathers- With Neil Morrissey
J. B.
A fabulous place to eat. The food was delicious and was served promptly. The staff provided an excellent service being polite, efficient and engaging in light hearted conversation, all of which added to the dining experience. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. All in all a great dining experience.

Had the most amazing time here for my Birthday. Hadn't been for a few years because of the circumstances of Covid and other reasons.... However.. WOW it was amazing and worth the wait. Staff were lovely and they were really helpful. Such a lovely happy atmosphere. The decor is lovely everywhere is well thought out..... The Menu is a joy & the quality of the food on your plate is wonderful. Sorry but both my hubby and I think it's the best meal we've had in a long time.
Starter's were fantastic and they didn't disappoint with the Main's or the Desserts (it was my Birthday after all) I also had a nice Shiraz.... Very smooth...
We can't recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely be returning.... The fish and chips look awesome..... Lucky enough to live fairly close.
Only slightly disappointed not to see the lovely Neil Morrissey... LOL... Sorry only a few pics.. But trust me each course was awesome xx

Amazing pub food. Best I have seen for a long time. Beer very good and nice selection. Service good, food fresh cooked and great menu, really nice. I am coming again!
Every time you go they do a great job.
S. L.
Love this place. Friendly staffs, excellent quality of food, yummy desserts 😋
B. P.
Marvellous! What a successful brand of Neil Morissey. High volume pub and food - but really good! Partculary impressed wth Neil Morrissey brand beers - especially the Blond (ale) with a great body - aka Ms A Holden perhaps?
H. E.
My daughter booked this for a family Sunday lunch. Food was lovely, restaurant really nice, so glad we booked as wouldn't of fancied the bar area as it is dog friendly, not that I have anything against dogs just don't like them around whilst eating. Waitress was lovely and they provided detailed information as the grandchildren are dairy intolerant. I would definitely recommend the roast dinner although next time I visit I will be trying the fish and chips as my granddaughters looked delicious. Great choice of starters but we didn't try the puddings as stuffed from 2 courses. Looking forward to going back sometime 😀
R. S.
Impressive canalside pub. Good selection of beers, including 2 house ales brewed by a small brewery. Very reasonable and good food menu. Highly recommended.
c. s.
Love it here! The Sunday dinner is amazing with really fresh veg - my only sadness is that they've taken off roast pork and its now pork belly :(
I've not been mid week for the food then but I've seen it walk past and it all looks amazing.
Desserts are also excellent!
Never had a bad experience going in here staff are all friendly and accommodating.
K. R.
Menu looks lovely, atmosphere very friendly, a fantastic family pub in a canal side location in a lovely village.
D. B.
Absolutely love coming here for food. The food is second to none and so is the service. Although potentially slightly more pricey than some other places it is worth every penny the food is always top quality and the range of drinks on offer is brilliant. When covid hit and they added the outdoor covered area this added even more flare as you can now sit outside regardless of weather and its right on the canal
S. F.
The Plume of Feathers is sited next to the Trent & Mersey canal where you can see the narrowboats. There is a good menu and the kitchen produces great food (not a ding to be heard). Very polite staff, quick service & goog beers including Neil Morrissey's Gold & Blonde beers, both rather moorish.
B. C.
Fantastic country pub with excellent (and generous) food, good array of ales and proximity to the downs banks national trust woods. Also friendly and good with dogs
M. R.
Went for midweek lunch, food very good quality and tasty. Good choice of beers and very fair prices. Bar and waiting staff were really friendly and attentive. Dog friendly. Will definitely come back when in area.
C. S.
Food was fantastic fresh and delicious I had the chicken hock pie was fantastic and filling , prices are high but was absolutely worth it for the quality of the food , very warm atmosphere inside and very friendly staff
T. (. M.
I have frequented this establishment a multitude of times now and I finally feel it is time to leave a review. I have never had a bad meal here, to the contrary, I have always been very impressed with the quality of food coming out of this small bistro pub. The menu is small and concise, the selection is reminiscent of classic British pub grub cooked to an exceptional standard with options such as the blonde ale pie with bubble and squeak. The attention to detail is also impressive, boasting local ingredients and fresh made-in-house accompaniments such as the tartare sauce (something I’m slowly deciphering to make myself!), ranch slaw, and the small meringues on top of the key lime cheesecake. My personal favourites from the menu have to be the pie or classic fish and chips, but honestly I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by whatever you order. The staff have also been friendly and attentive every time I’ve been there. If I had to leave any sort of complaint I’d say I don’t think the triple cooked chips from my most recent meal were ‘triple-cooked’ as they were hard inside (although still fully cooked), but, the restaurant was extremely busy so I’ll let them off that one! Keep up the good work and maintain those standard.
P. C.
A very nice country pub and also by the side of the canal. Brought very nicely up to date without being modernistic. Neil's beers were quite outstanding. And the food was very, very good, portions too large though. Staff tip-top.
G. H.
Reasonably priced and very nice food. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here today. My pate starter was a generous portion and the Pork Belly was more than enough. We will definitely return.
T. S.
Lovely atmosphere and the food was spectacular. I ordered the lamb shank, whilst the rest of the table had pork belly and a chicken pot pie. There were no complaints at the table.
And dog friendly too (only in the bar area)
, not the restaurant).
T. P.
Great experience really enjoyed the food. Little on the expensive side but it was worth it. The staff were brilliant particularly the lady that served us at the bar. She was very helpful to my girlfriend, not sure of her name but thank you for your assistance was really appreciated 🙂
P. T.
Possibly the nicest fish baguette I've ever had 🙂
Perfect location if you happen to be cycling or walking along the canal.
Very good waiting staff too. Top marks 👍
C. B.
Great atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful. Mussels for starter - very tasty!
Brisket meal had burnt kale and the creme brulee was runny and the sugar burnt and bitter. But the pork belly main and ice cream pudding were great.
We didn't check the bill and now we're home I can see we were charged for 2 drinks we didn't have (a beer and a large wine) so that's added an extra £10.20 to bill.
However, we will go again as most of the food was very tasty and we know mistakes do happen xx
A. H. (. M.
Nice atmosphere indoors and out.
Food good.
Only 0ne ladies toilet- when it got busy had to plan toilet breaks.
No cakes on a Sunday they had run out, apparently delivery is on a Tuesday. To be honest it is easy to knock up a brownie, lemon drizzle or cup cakes.
Otherwise nice place to go for a meal.
R. T.
Some of the best pub food I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The staff were lovely, really friendly and the setting was just the right kind for families, as well as mixed groups or individuals. A lovely pub.
J. R.
Great pub! The food is excellent and the beer superbly kept. Good range of ale, bottles and lager.
The food is not "pub grub" it's much higher class than that but prices are spot on for the quality. All freshly cooked, as proved by the perfect yolk in my starter. The beef and (Morrissey) ale pie was delicious and utterly rammed with high quality meat. Didn't have room for puddings sadly!
H. A.
Great food and the soft chocolate cake was amazing! Plenty of space to sit outside and very friendly staff.
D. T.
Was near by and had googled "canal-side pub near me". Got there to find that the opposite end of the car park was canal side (with a few benches that were occupied). All of the outside seating was under shade of cover which made it cold so we decided to go inside. It's nicely decorated and menu looked good so went to order a 'boatman's lunch". "There's a 45 minute wait for food" . Ok, then no thanks... Noticed some seating that was outside at the back (other side in the restaurant overlooking the bowling green), I asked if we could get outside there and the answer was only if we'd booked.
We had our drinks and bags of crisps and then left, the outside seats were still unoccupied for whoever may have them booked.
It looked like a nice place, it's a shame it wasn't what I was hoping for.
G. P.
Such a nice atmosphere of locals, people who’ve travelled and boaters. The food was excellent and well priced for what it was and the own brand beers with Morrissey’s name on were great. The blond beer was particularly nice.
Defo will go back when passing on my boat again.
J. M.
Lovely pish fish finger sandwich with triple cooked chips. Great big pieces of fish beautifully cooked. Very pleasant staff. Highly recommend - well done!
R. D.
Food was good. Venue clean. Nice location by canal. A few more benches would be better by the canal and in decent condition plus a few bins would be ideal. Couple of the staff abrupt that were waiting on.
D. W.
Rather awesome pub / restaurant. Busy even on a Tuesday lunch, table service was still smooth and professional, food was hot, all came out together and delicious. Definitely a recommendation
A. G.
Delicious good quality pub food, large portions. Always good to visit!
G. W.
Very good food, someone has employed an excellent chef and staff!
I particularly enjoyed the salt cod fritters with pickled onions in the garnish on home-made tartare sauce.
Needed a brandy snifter for five stars though.
A. M.
Truly amazing. Food is wonderful staff are very attentive. Beautiful canal at the side with canal boats a truly wonderful experience. Bonus was all the Neil morrissey bits and pieces absolute legend.
J.
Three of us went here for my other half's birthday meal at lunchtime and even though it was a Sunday, it was pleasantly not too overcrowded. The decor was warm, homely and comfortable and social distancing was maintained in a pleasant way which added to a relaxing atmosphere.
We didn't wait more than 30 minutes for our meals and the drinks weren't too long a wait to get to our table as well. The he Pinot Grigio was lovely and my pint of Doom Bar ale was very good too.
The meals were absolutely amazing and delicious....two of us had the Sunday lunch special "duck" and one had the Hereford red 10oz Rump steak which was cooked to perfection..well done Chef for the fantastic meals!
Lastly, a big thank you to all the friendly and welcoming staff who coped extremely well throughout the lunch service, well done to you all!!
Definitely recommending this restaurant pub and pity we didn't bump into Neil Morrissey whilst we were having our lunch...maybe next time and you never know....
D. H.
Popped in here on the off chance whilst afternoon shopping. Food was lovely and Sam behind the bar was lovely too. Very polite and accommodating. He’s a credit to front of house.
A. M.
No choice of alcohol free beer, only Becks blue.
Most of the guest real ales were off.
If we could book food it wasn't very obvious and we might have stayed longer if there was.
Obvious parking was full, no signs to show where additional parking was available, even though there was plenty of space: lost customers because of that.
Excessively hot in ladies loo, something wrong with ventilation.
L. M.
Varied choice of menu, Inc vegetarian. Food was good, staff friendly & service excellent. A warm & friendly pub. With s lovely walk by the canel afterwards to walk over the meal..
A. B.
Food truly amazing ,front of house truly amazing ,mistook the manager who was truly focused as was explained, for being a little a aloof ,perhaps l expect to much, it's true the place runs like clockwork and that's probably down to the manager
A. B.
Lovely pub. Called in on our way through on our narrow boat on the Trent and Mersey canal.
Amazing food, good prices, lovely atmosphere.
Highly recommended 😁
E. B.
Booked this place as we were staying at hotel up the road. Lovley place both inside & out. All had the burger which was nice. Even catered for my son who's autistic and has food issues. Staff were very nice and the had more than enough covid regulations in place.
J. A. W.
Only had drinks today sat down by tge canal with the dogs.. perfect. Have eaten here in the past always good food in lovely surroundings
K. S.
Excellent food, extensive menu, generous portions and very helpful polite staff. Would recommend
S. H.
Great food, plenty of it and great location by the canal. Friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Plenty of choice including speciality meals and a wide range of vegetarian choices. Then if you have space a tasty desert selection! All acompanied by craft beers wines and spirits.
S. W.
Nice interiors, good ale. The awning outside is a wind tunnel! It is an add on added on without much thought for comfort or aesthetics.
J. F.
Excellent food, friendly service but rather a long wait due to it being extremely busy. Will be going again
R. B.
Excellent food, ale was OK could be better and staff were friendly and helpful.
T. L. G.
Me and my husband loved our meal here, the service was brilliant, the food was delicious, we will definitely be returning.
K. M.
The food is delicious here, and I was quite surprised with the choice of vegetarian meals. The staff are welcoming and friendly also. It was busy so I'd definitely recommend booking prior.
D. H.
Have passed this pub over the last ten/twelve years but never ventured in - don't know why - until today. Absolutaly excellent meal - fresh, hot and very tasty. The staff are very pleasent and obliging. Highly recommended - you will not be disappointed.
A. “. W.
Love it here...glad you are open again..
You make a great effort to put tempting vegan/vegetarian options on your menu..
Missing the Mushroom Al Fredo (think that is the correct spelling) my favourite..last night had Mediterranean Vegetable Koftas
A. 7.
Love this pub it has good beer like morrissey blonde and thornbridge jaipur and the food is very nice too, the pub is kept very clean.
J. S.
Nice food and friendly staff .
Probably worth booking ahead if you want to sit in the restaurant. Plenty of outside seating area.
B. B. P. M.
Came from Birmingham as a treat , was not disappointed.. Food was amazing service excellent... Going back Friday 24th June.
H. C.
Lovely roast dinner, one of the best in a long time. So much veg! Served our childrens food first which was excellent as they were getting hungry! Would definitely come again if we are in the area, Highly recommend. Take a lovely walk along the canal.
B. P.
Plenty of outdoor seating. Some under a canopy and some near the canal. Very dog friendly.
T. C.
Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere but it would be nice if the smokers stood a bit further away from the entrance as we were sat in the pub and the smell of smoke was horrible!
K. W.
Slightly underwhelming. Advertising an extensive range of Local ales...... 1 local ale (Morrissey), 1 local Cider, otherwise the usual doombar and pedigree! Not to mention the less than friendly barman!
D. W.
Good beers and gorgeous food. Busy at times. A nice canalside location.
P. S.
As a first visit I was impressed!
I love to visit a pub near a canal and see the boats drifting by.
Near the entrance has a large lit canopy area and an almost tropical garden look.
Inside the modern pub with a touch of memory of the old world... very spacious with a bar at the centre with plenty of staff to serve you from any direction.
The food was excellent first class & we only waited a short time for service early evening.
Definitely plan a revisit.
S. H.
From the welcome when we arrived to the end of the evening we where looked after.the food was excellent. Everything was hot and we where all served at the same time. I would recommend you give it a try. Can't wait to go back.
D.
A warm friendly welcome on arrival. The food was first class and large portions . The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be going back
H. B.
Absolutely fantastic service every time we visit. Always so welcoming, food is superb and service is impeccable. An amazing addition to barlaston and we will be sad when we move away. All the best, Helen & John
C. W.
Took my wife and 2 Children out for our Anniversary/Birthday meal. Arrived a bit early but were seated promptly and looked after straight away. Drinks were served and the cask ale wall well kept and cellared. Meals were outstanding and great value for money. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much to ask. This is a well run venue and we will be back soon. Do yourself a favour and Visit.
C. R.
Called in on our narrow boat for an overnight stop outside. Food was really top notch, it was a Sunday evening and the earlier roasts had run out, but we had a superb meal. The smaller portion was excellent value and more than enough.
Highly recommended, and obviously highly popular!
M. C. (.
Just visited this wonderful pub. We were at Trentham Gardens withour dog and wanted somewhere Dog Friendly to eat. Choose this place, and what a great choice that was! The menu has fixed prices for the mains (£14 at the time we went) or you can get small plates at £7. This means you dont have to think about the steak being dearer than the burger etc so you can really think about what you want to try. We went for Roast Belly Pork and Roast Gammon and both meals were really huge! Well cooked, with fab chips, brill vegetables and a sauce to die for.
We will certainly be making the hour journey again just because of how fab it was.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
E. G.
Always a great place to eat & drink. Not at all as pricey as you'd expect either! Highly recommend 😊
J. F.
Lovely range of well kept ales.
Great menu, all mains £14. Great tasting food and generous portions. Thoroughly recommend.
F. D.
Lovely afternoon at the plume! Ordered the dirty halloumi fries and they were amazing can’t stop telling people about them. Cozy lunch in the rubbish weather. Can’t wait to go back soon!
J. D.
Loved it ,friendly, only had drinks but the food looked Amazing
P. H.
Great pub - great food, setting and ambience. You'd be happy to call this your local I think! It has been several decades since I last visited this place too, and it most certainly has improved for the better.
l. a. p. G.
Lovely modern pub near the canal lots of under cover seating a great restaurant with views over a well kept bowling green good all round menu served both in the pub and restaurant.Well cooked and presented, staff friendly and professional would recommend booking a table in the restaurant. Will definitely return with friends.
J. N.
Fantastic pub loads of memorabilia amazing food faultless
K. B.
Really lovely food and great prices, all mains £14. The atmosphere in the bar is a little better than the restaurant area but still lovely.
P. M.
Fantastic venue for a meal or just a coffee !! Was looking at The Plume as a venue for a special Anniversary later in the year - just a shame they couldn't accommodate our numbers !! Will DEFINITELY be back !!
S. Y.
My wifes steak came over cooked and the chips were cold. My fish was ok, but the spicy katsu curry that came with it wasn't what I expected.
P. H.
Really good quality food big portions and good value excellent place definitely go again.....
A. W.
Good beer. Food looked good but not having tried it I can't comment on its flavour
C. K. C.
We always have a great time here and love the Sunday night quiz, Food, drink and the great bar staff and atmosphere
M. S.
The pub looks great and very clean.
We booked to have dinner, so on arrival we were taken to our table. Nice big table only my back was to a walk way used by all the customers and staff. I was knocked into all the evening.
Asked if they did cocktails, no so asked if they did another kind of drink, no. Asked for coke but was told only Pepsi.
The meal was nice, my steak was a little over cooked but was nice.
We all had pudding and enjoyed them.
Nice seating outside and toilets were clean
All in all was nice to meet up with friends and a feeling of normality.
C. G.
Nice environment, quite service, delicious food. Steak baguette and fish finger baguette both great.
p. o.
First time here, very welcoming, good service, lovely food, good value for money, highly recommended.

First time visiting the steak 😋 lovely hubby had the burger 🍔 he really enjoyed it. We'll be back.
a. c.
Excellent service and choice of dishes. Fantasty food presentation. Good disabled access and toilets. Staff extremely helpful and attentive.
K. J. S.
Been here a couple of times for drinks but not food. There aren't many parking spaces. It sits right on the canal which is beautiful to sit next to with a couple of drinks. There are around 5 circle bench tables next to the canal. There are more outdoor seating areas directly outside the pub/Restaurant.
Going to go again soon to try the food.
M. S.
Very good Sunday lunch today, although they always seem to be out of some things which is a shame. Extremely dog friendly
S. R.
First time for us, food OK menu attached.
P. L.
I may need the assistance of a crane to get out of my seat. What a meal! Excellent quality food, plenty of it s very good beer to wash it all down. Well done Neil
R. M.
Great food, friendly staff. Just what a local pub should be
M. S.
Seems to be a nice quiet pub / restaurant well attended but not overcrowded.
I had a nicely done rump steak but the burger also looked and I am told tasted really good. The triple cooked chips were superb.
P. G.
Great food. Lovely setting. Sunday lunch is a treat.
s. n.
Excellent Day out - At the summer party . Music & entertainment along with great beer , food & company including Bikers & Bus rides , topped up with photo shoots Niel & Charlie ! :) Thanks for a great day all :)

J. W.
Nice pub, good food, friendly staff.
s. r.
Great place nice food dog friendly.
Pretty setting on the canal side
e. b.
Delicious food with great portion sizes, highly recommend trying the Morrisey house ales. Service can be slow in the restaurant section so if you're in a rush I'd recommend sitting out in the pub qnd ordering food at the bar.
L. H.
Lovely meal here whilst staying locally for 1 night!
L. C.
Fantastic food and staff. We couldn’t fault it
C. E.
We regularly pop in for food and drinks.
The food is always fantastic and plenty to choose from on the menu. Would highly recommend.

Stopped here on a Canal holiday for early evening food and a couple of drinks. Service was friendly and efficient, food was very tasty, extremely good value. Really enjoyed the whole evening. Would happily recommend and will be calling again whenever passing by.

I don't leave reviews often but the crispy pork I had today was amazing. Proper crispy edges and tender meat . The carrots and potatoes were spot on. Great beer and excellent customer service. Perfect Sunday afternoon. Thank you
s. b.
Nice dog friendly pub. Had pie and chips and it was very nice.
N. B.
Lots of great memorabilia inside and a great spot for a walk with our collie dog along the canal after the meal
A. G.
Delicious food and a good selection of drinks. We l didn't book so had to sit in the bar area, but that didn't matter as it was still a nice setting. I had the pie which was full of filling! My husband had the fish and chips which he said was delicious.
p. n.

We have enjoyed several lovely meals at The Plume of Feathers when cruising on the canals. Lovely accommodating staff, even under the difficult Covid times, delicious food and sensibly priced drinks .... thank you Mr Morrisey for pulling all this together....from loyal patrons Laura and Adrian La Roche ....
D. H.
Can't fault. Welcoming atmosphere and delicious food!! Highly recommend
p. d.
Absolutely brilliant meal, the food was very very good, 4 meals cannot fault any, the pie - delicious, the crispy belly pork - gorgeous, Katsui curry - very very good and finally lamb koftas - sooooo tasty.
All in all superb. On top of that the staff were very welcoming and service was great, thank you . My advice go and try it you will not be disappointed.
L. J.
Enjoyed a lovely meal today. Very covid secure. Lovely meal in the heated and lit tent at the front of the pub which had a lovely restaurant ambience despite it being outside. Beautiful food. Good range of house drinks including Neil's gold brew, which went down very nicely with a house special burger!
Really showing how to keep customers safe whilst delivering a pleasurable dining experience. Great staff. Very comfortable. Didn't feel deprived sitting outside. We will be back very soon!
K. E.
Great food, prices are fixed at £6.00 for starters and desserts, mains at £13.00. our party of 4 found the layout good, neutral decor, helpful and polite staff all in all a great British Pub experience. Well Done, wish you all the best for a successful future.
A. C.
This was our second visit to the Plume of Feathers in recent weeks and we were just as impressed today as we were on the first visit. A lovely dog friendly spot with consistently good food and drink. The menu has a lovely range of food which we found to be well cooked and of good quality. Highly recommended.
J. H.
We regularly visit the Plume of Feathers, due to it being a great spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu has a lovely range of good food and the staff are very accommodating. Highly recommended!
T. B.
Excellent pub, right on the canal wit parking as well, very pet friendly with good beer.
S. B.
Lovely clean pub. Great food. Lovely beer garden. Dog friendly lots of dogs
S. F.
Always visit here when passing on our narrowboat. Fabulous food and Neil Morissey's beers aren't bad either.
t. j.
Really lovely looking pub, the decor is fresh and it feels spacious.
A plus is that it seems to be the only pub around Stoke where I could get a draft pale ale! The only down is the food, you get big portions but it's not good. The burger was dry, the chips wet etc.
C. “. D.
Wonderful food and friendly staff. Top marks all-round.
M. N. M.
Service was first rate from the moment we walked in. Our waitress was attentive and couldn't do enough for us.
The food, which considering the quality, is very well priced. All locally sourced ingredients and it shows.
Excellent presentation and everything on the plate complimented each other, from the burger and sweet relish to the buddah bowl and miso.
There is just enough celebrity memorabilia on the walls without it being too overbearing and that is complimented by the local photos and those of the canal.
Drinks - The Morrissey Gold was superb and not too bitter and the selection of beers and wine comprehensive and also well priced.
A. M.
Loved the plum porter best one ever - food was good and friendly bar staff
S. S.
Absolutely superb food, friendly staff and will definitely visit again 👍
D. S.
Fab blonde pie, lovely venue too, definitely worth a visit.
J. J.
On this visit we were attempting to get some food but we decided against it as the barman couldn't have been less interested in telling us about the restaurant times or anything else if he'd tried.
R. D.
First time in the plume of feathers. It certainly won't be my last the food is amazing. I had the pork belly roast dinner an it was the best dinner I have had for a while
M. S.
The food was outstanding and the staff very friendly - will definitely be going again 😊

Nice environment for a meal, excellent staff and service and huge portion sizes. Unfortunately I found the food, although of good quality, wasn't to my taste. This is very much a personal thing so I would certainly recommend giving the plume of Feathers a try.
J. M.
Lovely setting, fantastic food with good customer service. Well worth visiting!
R. C.
The place itself was great, in a loverly village. Food and staff fantastic.Thumbs up for all the beers that was on.First time we had been there, we will be back with freiends and family.
g. m.
Really nice food. Funny friendly staff.
D. M.
Excellent friendly service and some outstanding food. I didn’t expect such well conceived and prepared a menu. I can’t stress how good the mussels were and the crème brûlée outstanding. Pleasantly stunned!
S. H.
Enjoyed a nice drink outside on a warm summer evening. Very enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere.
Would have given 5 stars but service was a little slow. It was very busy so perhaps a couple more staff were needed. Everyone was friendly though.
S. P.
Beautiful dog friendly area.geest food and drinks. Fabulous service.great staff.
S. B.
Bloody awesome! Had no idea what a class place this was, totally blown away with the food here, best meal I've had in a long time. Only wish i could have eaten more as it was so good. I'll be back
t. j.
Very nice food and a great atmosphere would like to visit again when in area
Pet friendly too so all good

Had a really tasty meal which was excellent value for money (lamb koftas). Lovely atmosphere and a lovely pub all round. Would definitely recommend.
c. w.
Beautiful establishment...Great selection of beers and food ... very picturesque location. Great smart friendly staff..
Highly recommended but would suggest booking if you want food.
Looking forward to our next visit
h. j.
Had a delicious birthday meal here, definitely recommend.
I. W.
Pleasant dinning experience food good and beer good
A. R.
Great pub with excellent food. Good value for money. Parking on site. Right next to the canal, can imagine it will be lovely in the summer months.
a. k.
Only called in for a coffee/tea whilst out on a canal walk. The staff were very friendly, the toilets were clean and the coffee (Illy) was good.
Will definitely be back to sample the menu, as the table next to us (socially distanced) had a late full English breakfast, which looked very appetising!
P. B.
Food was OK but a tad on the dear side for the quality. Service could be improved but was acceptable. I might be being a little unfair but I probably won't choose it again as it seems to be trading on Neil's name more than quality.
L. M.
Had quite a wait for our food to arrive but it was worth waiting for!
L. R.
Lovely pub, good pub food, nice atmosphere, very busy on a Sunday afternoon but service still quick and staff friendly and efficient.
S. A.
Fabulous food and really lovely staff.
B. H.
Really great beers, and very friendly service. Didn’t see the main man there but the staff were all lovely and the food was delicious.
S. C.
Very nice meal. Staff were polite and coped very well in the heat. Well done to those in the kitchen. We will and have recommended the Plume of Feathers.
C. M.
Took 20mins to take our order and another 10 to bring it to us. A bit slow going. We've been here for years coming for drinks but since lockdown ended, the service is very slow. Usually it has been quick when ordering at the bar. Varied choice of menu if you like random things together. The food we ordered was nice and we have been served quicker since our first order came.
D. F.
Sat outside, so not best placed to rate the inside. The food was very good and I had a pint of the Neil Morrissey Gold bitter. Good refreshing beer with bags of taste for 3.7% abv. All staff were friendly and helpful and the covid-19 measures were good.
S. S.
Great food, the staff are always friendly. Feeling relaxed
G. S.
Lovely place, food was great
C. B.
2nd visit in a week so that tells you it all. Also planning to come back even though it will be a 45 minute journey. We are on a barge. Friendly staff menu great, loved the lighter menu as it meant I had room for dessert. Hubby had the steak both times as it was that delicious loved the chips and salad. Highly recommend
C. R.
Lovely location really great interior good layout. Very clean. Service was a bit slow but we expected the food to take awhile as there was 9 of us it was well worth the wait as it was fantastic really delicious. Enjoyed the taster beer trio they do - great idea. Sorely let down by the attitude of the server when we mentioned the fact we all thought the pudding tasted funny 'well that's how they always make it' well I won't be ordering it again then! 'you can have your money back if you didn't like it' that wasn't the point.
J. L.
Fantastic place! Took my parents for a meal during our post lockdown and all the correct measures in place for everyone's safety, but done in such a manner as not to spoil things. The staff were all helpful and very welcoming, taking the time for a chat while at the table. For me as a vegetarian even the current cut down menu offers a choice of properly designed and tasty plates of food. We will definitely be back next time we are over for a visit!!
C. “. B.
Great selection on the menu, with the meals being customisable, all food arrived with reasonable speed after ordering.
Food was great with more than generous portion sizes, allow dogs inside.
K. D.
Beautiful food and nice relaxed atmosphere 👌

Very nice welcoming pub everything is a very good standard friendly staff good food and drinks
M. M.
Had Sunday lunch today as part of our canal journey along the Trent and Mersey canal.
I read a few of the negative reviews but couldn't find anything remotely similar to people's complaints. The staff were just amazing, friendly and hard working, left my largest tip ever. The food was really good, I had the pork belly roast and my other half had the double burger which she also really liked. Best pub food I've had for a while.
Good atmosphere in great surroundings.
Dog friendly pub (can't stand dogs in pubs but well away from restaurant) which are made very welcome.
We left stuffed and very comfortable with the price we paid, excellent value.
We will eat and drink there every time we pass.
S. D.
Great food nice area nice people and not expensive. Put it simply the nicest pub grub I've had in 5 years
R. K.
Popped in for a pint, then stayed for food, superb!!
V. M.
Visited 3 days running. Food always very good - and generous portions. Real Ales excellent. Proficient and helpful staff, coped very well on the busy Sunday lunchtime.
C. G.
Went here yesterday for a Birthday meal with my husband, lovely place, very well organised and very covid safe. Food was lovely, would have given 5 but steak was just a little tough and one was a bit fatty, but overall very good. Service was efficient and polite. Dessert was excellent, best we have had, chocolate cake, double choc chip ice cream, pancetta and berries. We would recommend a visit.
A. &. L.
Decent food, local ale. Great location next to the canal. Car parking can be a pain due to its popularity.
C. W.
Amazing evening. Great food and great service.
K. P.
Nice beer food looked good.
J. H.
Very nice food and good service. Large portions so good value. Perhaps just need a better selection of desserts.
J. L.
First time we had a drink outside & the food smelt & looked delicious.Had to go back for food & was amazed. From the service, cleanliness, friendly staff, great atmosphere & superb food.Such great portions of mouth watering meals.Highly recommended.
N. B.
Really helpful staff that let us leave our bikes around the back which meant we could go in and have a warm by the fire instead of outside in the snow
J. O.
Lovely place and lovely food. Staff were very attentive. We are from Derby but we will be making a trip soon to come again.
A. W.
Good service, great food and spotless, couldn't find any faults at all. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend this place 😊
C. W.
Nice pub. Menu looks nice. We'll go back soon for a meal.
Update: We booked a table and went back for our anniversary. They did not disappointed! Starters, mains, dessert & service were fabulous! We're already talking about booking again with family. Atmosphere is really nice but not so fancy that you can't be comfortable. Smart casual to dressy, it all works.
A. P.
Lovely and clean place with excellent food. Not as expensive as people think. Our 4th time here....
B. H.
Lovely meal and a few gluten free options. Also had breakfast here and again gluten free seeded bun option and swaps for the sausage.
C. S.
Great place great food delightful staff.
I would not recommend Christmas Day Though!
It was rushed, they over booked
And for all that money £79 it was a waste of money!
We didn't get the cheese and crackers or coffee! They will have to do better next Christmas!! it was rediculous.
We have been since but we told them what we thought and they agreed.
Unfortunately Chris doesn't work there now!! Mick is the better one. great he is.
P. S.
MASSIVE improvement on two/three years ago! Cracking food! Great staff although they were VERY busy. Went slightly reluctantly but due to previous experience but would now recommend 👌
K. H.
Excellent food and lovely service. Maisie was a great hostess and the COVID arrangements were not intrusive. Had some good socially distanced banter with some other cheeky patrons as well. Perfect after a walk with the dogs. Thank-you!
S. A. B.
Went for lunch here today, my wife had the katsu curry and I had the lamb kofta. This is the best pub meal I've ever had . Amazing food.
B. E.
Excellent food at a good price, pleasant and helpful service.
Can only recommend.......will certainly be back
K. F.
Great service. Amazing food and really reasonable!! A must if ever near!!
D. B.
Fabulous Pub & Restaurant. Great food, Steak to die for. Definitely on my Pub favourite list.
A. W.
Lovely place we all four of us as a family had a birthday meal there tonight and the food, surroundings, staff, quality of food and prices were all second to none. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was that i booked us in for a table on Saturday night and on arrival they had not got my booking booked done. Incompetence on there behalf i was not happy about. Fortunately on a Tuesday night it wasn't that full so we got a table, but on a busier night that might of lead to us not getting to eat there which would not of gone down very well. That aside a lovely evening was had. Just keep an eye on your booking.
c. r.
What can I say, Jase n I have never had a bad experience here.
We love the vibrant, friendly staff, atmosphere and cleanliness.
One visit and you'll be hooked.
B. W.
Had a lovely meal at the Plume of Feathers today, our first time here. The food was absolutely delicious and the outdoor marquee was great. Will definitely be coming back!
L. R.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was delicious. Right next to canal where we moored. Brilliant
J. D.
Good quality food friendly pub
A. J.
Lovely place and the food is gorgeous
C. M.
Busy with really lovely food, waiter was really good.
T. P.
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, good prices, could not fault
D. P.
Lovely atmosphere and it was very busy at lunch time. This was my third visit with two girlfriends but we have now decided to try somewhere new. It's something to do with the food presentation. Too much 'faffing' about. Too much pureed veg, tomato sauce swiped across the plate accompanied with some garlic mayo on a fish starter, no thankyou. I have yet to enjoy and finish a meal. So not for me.
C. F.
Starter was superb but bit lacking in black pudding, (1 slice broken into 4) but the small scotch egg was beautiful. I had the beer batted fish and chips but the fat must have been a bit too hot as the batter was slightly burnt. Although the fish was lovely I felt the batter and the triple cooked chips were very greasy. I did mention when she came to clear the plates as we had all left chips and also taken the fish out of the batter but the only response was, oh sorry. Still enjoyed the atmosphere.
H. C.
Nice fish. Very friendly service. Moved us to a bigger, more comfortable table when one was available. Safe and secure and covered by a canopy outside.
M. C.
Good food, good craft beers reasonably priced. Try the pies! Good entertainment and a Devilish pub quiz.
Ideal after a walk along the canal. Comfortable and importantly excellent helpful and polite staff.
Friendly helpful locals. Great atmosphere and decent coffee!
Nice seating outside with heating on not so clement British evenings .
Good local smart pub. Highly recommended.
f. w.
found this pub by chance as we passed by on the canal. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and we had a very reasonably priced meal which was of very good pub food standard. Very nice setting and an all round good find. Good service on this admittedly quiet Sunday early evening. Would recommend and is a must stop for boaters especially as also does coffee and cake from 10 am and for afternoon tea on weekdays.
P. S. T.
Great food, staff are superb. On a sunny day eating outside. Perfect. Always is a great place to visit any time of the year.
J. F.
Best meal I have ever had for the price of it . Shame we had to sit outside because of covid and wasnt under the marquee with heaters but just under a table umbrella on a cold and wet day. Not really there faulty though.
K. F.
Dog friendly in and out, great food at decent prices, superb staff, and fantastic location. What's not to like?
Highly recommended
C. H.
Good freindly pub with good beer. Eaten here in the past and the food was nice
H. S.
Taste sensation! Brilliant food and all home made. Staff very friendly and helpful.
J. W.
Amazing food really really nice. Portions huge but gorgeous. Pub is lovely and clean and very very covid safe. Staff polite and couldn't do enough for you. The pubs surroundings beautiful
M. A.
First visit here for our sons 21st Birthday. Good portions, arguably the best meal we have had out in a long time. Good service, great atmosphere and value for money. Would recommend to others and we'll definitely be back and next time try to leave some room for desserts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
M. C.
Nice pub with a canalside location and a good selection of beers.Food good.
R. H.
Good pub and I am a fan.
L. M.
Excellent lunch in the restaurant. Bowling green, terrace at the back and canal at the side. Good food, friendly staff.
G. D.
Food was excellent, price was good.
I. M.
Roast belly of pork, crackling and five vegetables is my favourite meal. Great menu. Six of us all had different mains. All amazing. Great starters and desserts too. Staff and service top notch. Nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to our next visit.
D. A.
A comfortable modern hostelry offering several excellent real ales in lovely condition. The food is little short of superb and very reasonably priced. The service is very good and much appreciated . Do not hesitate to sample the fares. You will be well pleased.
P. H.
Had a meal on Thursday night, based on that we would have given 5 stars. However, we returned for Sunday lunch and was very disappointed, would have given 1/2 stars based on that meal. The meat was very poor to the point some could not be consumed, and though the veg was flavoursome and tasty says lacking quantity. When advised this, we were offered a complimentary drink, but were on our way out. Would give them another chance if I am in the area but would not rush back.
S. C.
Went to the Plume for our works Christmas meal, lovely place, excellent service and excellent food. One of our group had special dietary needs and had planned on just omitting what she couldn't eat, however the chef had obtained gluten free bread rolls, cooked the veggies separately and even went as far as making her her own dessert. That thoughtfulness made it a very special evening. Thank you so much.
L. M.
We found the portions very generous, tasty and great value. Neil's recommended white wine was excellent and the staff were caring and attentive and smiling. The manager was in evidence and very helpful. Altogether a most enjoyable experience.
P. R.
Great pork scratching date just a symbol of the slightly cool feel to this place. Close to Monkey Forest it makes a great end to the day. Beer brewed by Morrisey the actor guy. Who legend says pops in. Good parking above and below pub and table service only.
V. R.
Brill food good but best of all i can take my best friend my doggie xx
A. K.
Absolutely amazing food, (had the steak, medium rare, perfect, changed the chunky chips for the sweet potato fries and asked for a jug of the Japanese katsu curry sauce on the side which wasn't a problem aslo it was a great combination! Best meal I've had in years) Went at lunch time and still a large variety of meals to choose from. Staff were very attentive and kind and did a few check backs to see if everything was OK and if we needed anything else. Cleared plates away quickly after main and took order for dessert (I had the baked cheesecake which was delicious, ice cream on the side was good quality and strawberries came with it too but they weren't chilled) Clean, elegant and spacious restaurant. We sat in a booth by the back door and people opening the door often meant there was often a cold breeze blowing through, not generally a problem as we would just sit somewhere else next time but would definitely be back in the next few weeks. Overall five star rating. 😍
R. B.
Sunday lunch; slow cooked pork belly and gammon steak - superb. Excellent, friendly and accommodating service too. (Plus mooring for our narrowboat right outside). Thank you.
S. B.
Excellent food. Great staff especially our waiter Darren. Nothing too much trouble. Will visit again when we are allowed
R. G.
We just called for a lunchtime coffee whilst on a tandem ride along the adjacent canal.. lovely cup of coffee and good value. Food menu looked better than usual pub grub and priced accordingly. Staff were friendly. We'll return to try the food another day when we're not riding
m. j. b.
Nice looking pub, good service, not too sure about my burger, seemed slightly burned, unless that was just the flavour, would go back again.
We did go back again, but on this occasion, despite 3 staff being in the vicinity when I tried to order I was ignored for what seemed like a considerable time even though 2 of the 3 could see me waiting,no one else Was at the bar other than me, so it wasn't that they were busy with other customers.
When I did get served the lady taking my order had a face on her. When we asked for some cutlery to be changed because it was dirty, the staff member just took them without a word, then returned the he new item again without a word...... On a positive note the food was fine, but overall very unimpressed.
R. S.
Sunday dinner, delicious. Plenty of vegetables and the belly pork was so tender. Service was excellent. Definitely recommend.
B. R.
Great food, reasonable prices for great quality
S. W.
Absolutely lovely place. Really reasonably priced and ace service. The pies are to die for.
S. W.
Nice looking place with some great food. Did make me slightly nervous that I might meet Neil Morrisey however. Will go back when I'm in the area.
C. F.
Really enjoyed our trip to this pub , had Morrissey pie absolutely rammed with meat fabulous ,will Certainly go back.
D. G.
Help to make a special day great by going out of there way to give us waiter service in the restaurant at a time it was normally closed. This was our first visit but will certainly return. Great range of drinks and good menu. So they made our wedding day in Stafford with only two guest special.
E. m.
Very friendly staff, clean and we felt safe to eat here. covid rules clearly being adhered to.
The lightly spiced sweet potato and coconut soup was divine.
P. M.
We had lunch here with a couple of mates on the 14-02-16. great range of beer to start with bar staff seem very knowledgeable on the beer and wine they sold.
Then we had lunch, the restaurant staff where very helpful with the choice of food I had pie of the day with fat chips which was great my wife had fish and chips she said it was one of the best she has ever had, one of the party had salmon new potatoes veg she said it was very good and my mate had pie the same as me.
So yes a big thumps up for the staff the food and the beer we will be back
M. W. (. T. W.
Arrived at the pub for lunch on a bright afternoon. It was busy but not too mad.
Plenty of seating inside or out including tables by the canal (also welcomes dogs too).
We ordered our food and sat outside. After a short while the food arrived. WOW! I didn't expect portion sizes like that, very generous indeed.
Usually quantity and quality don't go together, but the food was fantastic. I can thoroughly recommend it.
We chose:
‘Rocky’ Burger
The Morrissey Blonde Ale Pie
Morrissey Blonde Ale Battered Fish
Moules Fries (Mussels)
The pricing is very fair and very simple if you're in a group & splitting the bill.
A very nice bit o' grub indeed. Thanks to the staff.
H. W.
Oh what a pleasant surprise! Well revamped pub, super loos, plentiful parking, great surrounds...canal and bowling green and above all super beer range at reasonable prices plus good food from a non standard menu. I had a starter as a light lunch....haddock scotch egg, black pudding, curry mayo, strips of pickled onion....all for £6. I drank the house bitter...Plume...and then Titanic Plum Porter. Less than £10 the lot. Really good...well done Mr Neil...
L. S. w. P.
We stopped in whilst on a big bike ride. It felt like a nice friendly pub with plenty of outdoor seating, some near the canal but you can't eat at those tables.
The outdoor seats at the front not next to the canal are a little cramped in and by the road. Perfectly acceptable for us but not great if you think a nice view is all part of eating outdoors
The food was lovely, the triple cooked chips were very nice and I thought the barstaff very pleasant and friendly.
S. S.
A really great watering hole on my bike ride along the canal today. Well worth stopping for a bite to eat with good service.
S.
The food is really nice but takes a while to arrive. The staff on the other hand are useless. Takes ages for them to clear your table and they walk past and look at the empty plates and keep walking hoping someone else will do it. Then they stand in the corner talking. They are quick at taking your order though. I'm still debating whether McDonald's would employ them or not. There's a young lad that's cleaned one table in the 2 hours we've been here.
T. D.
First visit to this place but safe to say we'll be back ! Superb service, a very interesting and varied menu with some intriguing twists on classic pub fare. We had the roast beef Sunday dinner and can honestly say I've never had better in a restaurant. Can't praise the Plume of Feathers highly enough. Fantastic !
C. E.
Went in on 16/9/2020 had a good few beers and some food the rump steak and fish were so delicious me and my wife loved it. The staff were all so polte and well represented, I will strongly recommend the plume of feathers to anybody.
L. F.
Great food very reasonably priced. Beer fab neil morrissey. Social distancing working well, lots of outside tables. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere during these unprecedented times. Well done !
D. Q.
High quality food at low prices. The 'Rocky' burger is immense and the array of home cooked pies are too. Great place for lunch and very competitively priced.
H. W.
The food was fantastic. I had the steak pie. It was full of meat and the pastry was amazing. My partner had the fish and chips and was very happy with it. X
C. S.
Very good. Full distancing measures in place. Nice pint of Morrissey's Golden Ale, and a fabulous meal - steaks, pies,... Top notch. Managed to Moor right outside too! 😎
g. p.
Had a rocky burger, it came out and it was surprising bigger than I thought it would be, with it being two Pattie/burger inside. The ground beef was a very good texture and was seasoned well. It also wasn't a greasy burger either. After I had a soft chocolate cake and white chocolate panna cotta with red berry compote with chocolate fudge ice cream. That was all one desert but really it is three which complement each other and you can mix and match each spoon. That was very nice. The Mrs had mussels and she said they where very good. All in all very nice pub meal
L.
Great food 👍🍺 beef + chicken sandwich with chunky triple cooked chips and dog friendly 🐶
R. w.
Excellent service and meal this evening, never had cause at all here to say anything bad about, first class as always. Keep up the excellent work
T. L.
We found the food to be very nice and the choice at the bar is excellent but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated and given a menu but 15 minutes later i had to go to the bar to ask them to take the order. Our empty plates sat in front of us for 20 minutes befor i had to go to the bar to ask them to take the sweet order. It was hard to attract the staffs attention for a drink or even for the bill as they were too busy talking amongst themselves. The staff uniform looks very professional with the exception of the duty manager (denim jeans and t shirt is not a good look). Tom at the bar asked if everything was ok but didn't seem to care too much or offer any explanation.
This is a fantastic pub/resturant with great potential so
Mr Morrissey do somthing please.
R. J.
Excellent food and great service
S. L. (.
Fantastic food, great service, lovely venue. The food on offer was not your average pub fair, for example my starter was hoisin duck Staffordshire oatcakes, main was katsu chicken. Both dishes were excellent and ample servings, you certainly won't go hungry here. I'd recommend booking as the place can get busy. The pub has been spruced up in recent years and looks all the better for it. Would highly recommended if you're looking for a meal and drink out in the local area, you won't get much better.
A. J.
Great location with outside seating next to the canal. Friendly staff and lovely food. A little pricey for regular visits however is ideal for one off occasions.
G. J.
Never been to this place to eat before, but the food was excellent.. Had the Rocky burger with salad and wedges. Very filling.. Kate the waitress was lovely and very nice. Neil wasn't there.. Wanted to see him, but he's a busy actor, and I did some extra work on Boon once so did meet him.
K. L.
First time going here for an evening meal. Although it was my wife's birthday we both decided to have the festive menu. £24 for three courses represented very good value for money as far as I am concerned. I went traditional - turkey and all the trimmings but as I can't have Cranberries due to medication was a bit concerned. Explained this to our waitress Romani (unusual but beautiful name) who took the trouble to check ingredients with the chef. She did the same for the Christmas pudding. Excellent service and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back, poss for my birthday in January.
D. C.
Went to the Plume of Feathers on a Tuesday afternoon (13.8.2019) to have a few drinks went to settle the bill waiting 20 minutes..? In this time another 6 people arrived at the bar for drinks. One young lad working his socks off whilst the manager walked around and cleared a couple of tables. Then the manger walked behind the bar and without asking who was next served the first person to walk up to the bar around the corner..! Instead of asking the young lad who was next. If you’re going to promote a pub with your name at least get enough bar staff and a manager that is aware his staff are under pressure. On a plus note the pub was clean and a good selection of beers. As we are Barging we have moored up and will eat there tonight. Hopefully we will not have to wait to long..!
S. R.
Had lovely curry lamb with fresh coriander and onion salad.nice. Partner had the double burger with onion chutney and special sauce very tasty. Not big on burgers myself but helped him finish it, very tasty. Ate outside with our dog. Seats in bar area taken by people with no dog while seats available in adjacent dog free lounge area. Only complaining cause I wanted to stay for dessert n coffee. Have to go again to restaurant area without fido.
I. M.
A great, trendy pub in the countryside. Good beers, good food, and the staff are friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Great if you have dogs and especially if you have just been out for a decent walk along the canal, refreshment abounds at the end of your walk.
m. G.
Much improved. Food fab and service excellent.
Be it my steak was a little too rare for me they had no problem in exchanging it straight away. I would have been more than happy for them to cook it a little longer but I had a complete new meal served.
Would recommend you come and try.
N. W.
Just incase anyone wasn't sure this is Niel's place. You know, Niel. Bob the Builder, Men Behaving Badly, nicked Les Dennis' wife. Yeah, him.
The food is pretty good and the staff are usually OK too. Oh and Neily, Niely, Niel McNeilface.
PS Niel

This is not the nearest pub for us in the village but I have to say it is by far the best. Great ambience and great food. I was just beginning to think we had exhausted the menu but there is now a new menu right on cue. Lamb rump good Karma is fantastic. I would rate it 5*. Well done Barlaston finally well an
truly on the map....
L. F.
Absolutely GREAT, excellent food, really good service by confident & competent staff for a very reasonable price, had a super time, our 1st visit but definitely the 1st of many. Nice to go somewhere without music playing all the time & lovely to see dogs welcome, shall take ours next time.
I. M.
For my family, this is great 8 mile trip (There and back) from our home and along the canal.
Lovely staff, nice beer and plenty of inside and outside places to sit.
Dog friendly too!
R. W.
First time I've eaten here for a long time. Went with a party of 4 relatives. The food is possibly the best I've had at a pub. Congratulations to the new head chef, none of us could fault a thing. I recommend the Hereford strips or the salmon, both excellent.
M. B.
Top grub, friendly staff. Very enjoyable.
V. D.
Fab couple of nights at the Plume. After Lockdown reopening. Paul is a very attentive host. Staff as friendly and as welcoming as ever and safety is paramount. Outside area fab. Made iur week
M. P.
Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. The food was excellent..if a little wait, though everything cooked to order so understandable. Good choice of beers etc
K. W.
Food is nice. Service is poor as the staff are all very inexperienced and they do not go out of their way to try and please the customer. They also need to be made aware that children's food should come out first not after the adults.
C. W.
A lovely well priced lunch with a section for smaller appetites. Well organised and following all covid procedures. Well staffed and pleasant service.
T. W.
Went here for lunch what a lovely place right beside the canal great to sit out on a good day. Plenty of parking and good wheelchair access. Good choice of ales and wines and the food was fab would definitely recommend it. Staff very friendly good pub restaurant.
K. V.
We parked our car on there carpark and walked to stone on the canal and walked back to the plume of feathers and had a great dinnertime lunch it was great food very well organised and the staff were great .We had lunch under a marquee outside with heaters nice one Neil.
P.
Winter menu now so I ordered the venison medallions. Tasty but I was disappointed to only get 2 small pieces. At least one more would be a reasonable portion.
My wife had the lamb Rogan Josh which was very good for a pub curry.
The starter with the smoked haddock scotch egg I have enjoyed very much previously. This one was fair; very little haddock so the flavours were not as good.
L. K.
Lovely meal here last night, staff attentive and friendly, quality pub grub for a night out with friends or family.
K. B.
Good food Great Beer would recommend 👌 Great evening with Friends. Lovely Staff.

Busy outside, tables and benches by the canal cld do with replacing as looking shabby. Card machine wldn't take my card, so another had to be used. Staff pleasant, coffee a bit cool by the time I had gone back into the pub to try and get my card to work. 😠

Very nice meal and reasonable price

Top pub great food

Disappointed. Went for a treat for Valentine's Day and ended up eating my main 15 minutes after my partner. Starters fantastic and then the let down, Harrisa marinated lamb. The lamb was in my opinion not marinated. In fairness the meal was replaced with katsu chicken but this meant my partner had eaten her main before I had started mine.. The bill after negotiation was suitably adjusted. We had been looking forward to this evening all week and as I've put at the start DISAPPOINTED.
D. C.
Had an enjoyable night here with friends. Liked the food and the atmosphere.
J. B.
Good amount of seating (especially outdoors). For an upmarket pub the prices are still in the range where you'd feel comfortable having a starter and main rather than trying for the cheapest main and getting out of there. Nice selection of beers/ciders that you don't tend to see elsewhere other than speciality gastros.
M. N.
Excellent menu, well priced food and drinks, clean , good service, but can be busy.

Great place, such a lovely warm inviting pub/restaurant. Family friendly. Food was fantastic - absolutely delicious, those chips are amazing! We all had the katzu curry, and even I could as a vegetarian as they had halloumi katzu. Very impressed. Love coming here, see you again soon 👍

A great bar restaurant that has a varied menu, I haven't tried the food (hence the 4 stars), but from visiting for a drink (outdoor seating rear and front) it's a very friendly place with a variety of drinks, they're also dog friendly as well (Not in the restaurant to the rear). Will review again up on eating here (soon! - menu looks for reasonably priced for the area/representation of the place)

Fully enjoyed the food. Well cooked. Service was great. Looked after us from the moment we walked through the door. Personally we found the the portion sizes a little big. We were unable to finish the mains after our a starters.
t.
Great food. Surpasses my expectations of pub food. Can not fault the place for value and lovely looking decor. Great location right next to the canal. Ideal for everyone.
l. c.
Fantastic food, great service. Generally good all round. We'll be back 😃
B. P.
A very friendly place to take the family good food great hospitality very nice pub

Error with booking (could not find our booking on the system) although this was quickly rectified and we were seated shortly after. Waited a while in between ordering and delivery of food, mistake made with one of the childrens order but again swiftly dealt with and deducted from the bill. Well worth the wait, food tasted lush, will definitely revisit.

Lovely walk along the canal ended with a delicious hot chocolate with a friend and our dogs. Such a relaxed setting..becoming a bit of a regular walk now...never had a bad experience whether it be a meal or just a drink

Fab place to eat. Food excellent. Staff are fantastic.

Very good social distancing and sanitation felt safe, food was excellent, it was our first visit but definitely won't be the last 👍
V. W.
Love the place but disappointed with new years eve food, some nice some awful but there wasnt enough food. Got missed also as well. Will not be going again. Have been for 4 years to new years eve do. Got worse each year. This however does not reflect on the day and evening food which is lovely.
E. T.
Fantastic value for the superb quality of food they have. Great drink selection and the servers are always super friendly. I'd recommend this place to absolutely everyone!
P. S.
Very pleasant, good value, varied menu, would go there again.
M. W.
This is a nice place with good food and drinks, the only issue is that they claim that dog's are welcome but they are definitely not welcome in one half of the bar and the restaurant, and there is no access to tables at the back which are in the sun unless you go through the restaurant. Bit poor really and staff were quite stuffy about this when there was no need to be.
J. C.
Lovely food. Excellent service.A thoroughly enjoyable experience . Impressed with a greetings card signed by Neil Morrissey also. A very nice touch. Would highly recommend this excellent pub.
K. A.
Extremely large portions, delicious food and very friendly waiting staff. The prices are great for the quality and quantity of the food provided.
Will definitely recommend and look forward to eating her again. 10/10.

Lovely friendly pub with good food 😋 👌
M. J.
Good food great value

Beautiful pub. I would have liked to eat there but there was no chance of a table. But what meals came through looked delicious. We did visit on a Sunday afternoon which possibly was a mistake without booking.
J. T.
We always stop here on our way along the canal. A friendly pub which serves great beer and is dog friendly. Apparently the food is good too but we haven't put that to the test yet.
S. E.
Very pleasant. Great sandwiches and very pooch friendly.
P. m.
Some of the best food we've had in a good while, friendly and efficient staff, good beers and the whole experience is something that I would recommend to anyone.
T. D.
Lovely place and good prices. Staff were very nice and the food was delicious 😋
B. S.
Nice scenery amazing pub food and drinks choices were very good
B. E.
Not a bad place to go. Not had food there for a while but has been good. Usually go there when we walk the dog or for a hike and stop off for a drink.
D. A.
Beautiful starter, main really let it down, had the pie!! Not the best, kale was extremely greasy, one main thing, no bar staff to serve drinks either outside talking or making hot drinks.
L. A.
Very nice. Friendly service, good food and plenty of ales to choose from.
T. J.
Well I need to say this just to be polite and let you all know Neil Morrisey needs to look into this.
My wife ,mother and myself called in today for a lunch sandwich.
We had brown bread filled with Roast Beef slices , horseradish and onions with side salad .
Looked appetising until my Mum said “whats this on my bread”?
I looked at mine it was the same afraid to say MOULD!!
I took it back to Waitress who then took it back to the chef in the kitchen, we received an apology from waitress on Chefs behalf but would have liked to see him ourselves!!
The meal was replaced with nice fresh bread and the waitress gave us a refund on the two meals
Think this meal was not looked at before serving and bread was probably DAYS old!
Really expected far more better quality than this!!
D. P.
Always good food and good ale here. Has become our favourite food pub of late - sit out front by the canal or out back on the terrace and watch some crown green bowling as the sun goes down - lovely spot
H. P.
Food was absolutely amazing, staff lovely and attentive, nothing to much trouble
B.
Great pub and restaurant with friendly staff. Portion sizes are great value for money. To be hyper critical disappointed with the onion rings too much batter the flavour of the onions is lost.
.

Not visited this place but decided to try somewhere new. Will definitely visit again, beautiful interior, lovely staff and the food was so delicious. Ordered the Pork roast which came with a big piece of crackling.
C. L.
A first visit for myself, and I was very presently surprised and delighted. Great ale and very tasty food. Welcoming venue and staff and bonus it's dog friendly! A definite thumbs up from me!
E. C.
Yet again another excellent dining experience. Lovely food and the staff looked after us very well.
We will definitely be back
A. K.
Dog friendly canal side pub. Good range of ale and friendly atmosphere. Reasonable choice on the food menu, but you won't find much for less than a tenner.
D. p.
Fantastic setting & great food on offer! 100% worth a visit
P. R.
Busy canalside pub with information about Neil Morrissey adorning the walls. Morrissey Blonde was a nice drink of traditional beer.
S. S.

Its pub grub, but it's one of the best meals we had. Clean pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. Try the fish finger sandwich, the burger was very good (2 burgers) and Piri piri chicken, All good
L. B.
Really nice pub with a restaurant as well. We had a full three course meal, and I can't fault any of it. Everyone really enjoyed there meals, and we were all extremely full by the end!

D. W.
Really great selection of beers. Staffs are super friendly. Menu is absolutely brilliant, great variety. I had arincini followed by steak. Really food food. Superb atmosphere. Highly recommended.

They say you can tell how good the ale is kept by how good a pint of Bass is. Well it was ok here. Such a shame ,,, the Pedigree was good , the cleanliness of the establishment was ok and the food was ok. I think 10% more effort would have brought the place up to expectations.
Neil. Kick your managers ass , sack the cleaners and all will be great which means you would achieve a 5 star food hygiene instead of 4
D. W.
Great pub. Nice outside area on the canal. Good beer and food and dogs are welcome in the bar. Good for an evening meal and also a mid afternoon pint during a walk etc
V. M.
Lovely food and staff.
A. R.
We called in here on a Sunday in the late afternoon and it was very busy. The food, beer and staff were spot on for a busy place. Well worth a visit especially when sunny as you can sit outside by the Canal.
M. F.
Beautiful setting right by the canal with plenty of outside seating. Bar staff were very friendly and quick to serve us and it had a really cosy homely atmosphere. Would definately recommend.

Good food , service a bit slow.

The food was excellent. Starters and puddings are all one price. Mains come in two tiers if pricing. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal.
c. N.
Great pub. Great service. Good stop off point after a walk around Barlaston Downs.
S. B.
Excellent food and good value for money. The only downside was parking. Many cars parked for canal walks so difficult to park by pub. Both my Mother and I are disabled so it was hard for us
C. H.
We had a great meal at a reasonable price in a cosy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. I would strongly recommend this place for eating and drinking.
R. B.
First time in for years. Tried both of Morrissey hand pull ales. They where spot on. Next I'm in Stoke ill make a meal of it.
J. J.
Great meal here last Friday, I can highly recommend it.
A. P.
Nice pub, good grub, parking can be a bit of an issue at busy times, dogs welcome, seating area by the canal to watch the ducks and while away an hour or two with a good pint.
C. B. J.
The food here is amazing, great location, lovely atmosphere. Good choice of beers. Staff are attentive and prices are reasonable for a venue of this high standard. Highly recommended.

Googled dog friendly pubs in Stoke and found The Plume of Feathers ! What a find !! We wanted a rendezvous, to meet up with some friends that was half way from their house & ours, we travelled from Rossendale and our friends from Solihull. We were not disappointed !! Great pub on the canal side ,warm and friendly, very helpful staff ! The food was so delicious and we certainly will be going back !!
