Reviews of The Talbot

Lovely food with a great menu.
Friendly staff.
Service was quick, especially considering it was full on a Wednesday evening!
Dog friendly too.
E. H.
We came here for a family tea my son had the children's pizza which was excellent value for money he picked it to come with chips and veggie sticks the only problem was the veg had gone soggy so he didn't eat it but he had plenty with his pizza and triple cooked chips. My husband had the burger which he loved and I had the pie which came with vegetables these were all really fresh and cooked well my only gripe was the pie was only a pie lid and not a proper pie. We all had dessert too 😋 my husband had the flower pot pudding which looked amazing he said it was nice but lacked in flavour. However I had the banoffee which looked and tasted amazing. All in all a lovely meal lovely friendly staff and we will definitely be returning.

Interior massively improved since my last visit. However food standard seems to have fallen. We had undercooked chips that took an age to be replaced, and the second batch were also partially undercooked. I had calamari that was mediocre at best. Love the venue but won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Second visit to this country pub. Last visited in early January and it was poor, blaming COVID and supplier issues. One staff member serving entire dining area and half the menu seemed to be unavailable for some reason or another. But the meal we managed to get was good so decided to give them a second chance, glad we did.
Today's visit was so much better, waitress was brilliant, attentive and checked several times meal was satisfactory and the food was excellent. Really comfortable seats, well decorated and looked after venue and staff all looked happy and pleasant to deal with.
Speaking with locals told they can be a little hit and miss on the food but this has not been evidenced on our visits and tphe place was busy with regulars.
Dog friendly, dogs were in the beer garden and inside bar area and all well behaved.
Toilets clean and well maintained.

Came for lunch with my wife, the meal was lovely, had the house burger and the fish. Very enjoyable, been before and will go again.

We were greeted & seated by a lovely lady who was attentive to us at first. Once we received our food and drinks, it was like there was a shift change or half the staff went home because the staff seemed to just stay at the bar chatting and we couldn’t get people’s attention. We had to ask for more drinks, then ask for the table to be cleared, then ask for desert menu, then ask for the bill. I had a ribeye, which wasn’t the best quality. The food was really nice, all 4 of us enjoyed it.
D. E.
Will give 4 stars because we waited an hour for our meal. They did give all our drinks and appetizer for free which was great. The staff would not stop apologising. Free dessert was offered as well but was refused because we were all stuffed from eating. The meal was amazingly great!. Would go back . Thanks for the great service!!

Lovely country pub but some staff and food was poor.
Arrived at 12noon we were one of the first people in there. Not very welcoming young girl on the bar so poor start we thought.
After a wait we gave our order to the same girl with same poor social skills. .Our food arrived after a very long wait even though the pub was extremely quiet. We did Wonder what the hold up was. No explanation when the food eventually arrived.
My fish finger sandwich was on 2 Rocks !! Fortunately another pleasant waitress came over to check if the food was OK and agreed it was rock bread. She returned with my fish on untoasted pieces of bread she was pleasant and sociable.
Later we decided to order 2 ice cream desserts from the young girl, after 35 mins we gave up waiting and went to the bar to pay. I told the young girl that we couldn't wait any longer as had waited 35 minutes already. No apology just walked away to tell another girl that we no longer wanted it . That was it , nothing , no reason why once again. We paid the bill and left feeling very disappointed and sad as we love the pub and the setting . Be a long time before we try again unfortunately.

Booked meal for 8 on boxing evening at 6. After 15 minutes took drinks order. It was another 15 minutes before it arrived, incorrect. It was rectified.
We had to ask twice for our order to be taken, which took another 20 minutes. Our first course finally arrived which was OK,but expected more than 2 wafer thin finger slices of bread. The pate was lovely but would have appreciated a garnish too..
Our main course was 20 minutes later delivered and was quite good, steak tasty, but again needed garnish, especially having to pay a £4supplement.the pork was nice but for the price would have expected some kind of garnish
We again had to ask twice for another round of drinks.
The puddings were nice and tasty, especially the apple pie and brownie
I understand that you may have been short staffed, we even had to ask for the table to be decorated as the others were. Yes bit picky l know, but we were so looking forward to our meal together.

From the moment we arrived for lunch today (16th march) we were greeted by friendly attentive staff. We were warned that food might take a little longer than normal as they were a chef down, but we didn't really notice any delay. Food was all excellent, staff always around asking if everything was ok, or if we needed another drink. (But not in an intrusive way)
Overall a lovely place for lunch and based on our experience today, highly recommended.
K. O.
Food was lovely and piping hot. Lovely atmosphere inside and lovely and warm too. Only criticism would be that food service was slow, however as the food was so lovely I've still given 5 stars.
B. L.
Visited on the 6th with my partner, food was amazing and the staff where very attentive. Prices where very reasonable for the quality and the portions where more than adequate. Ignore the miseries on here wishing they where in wether spoons, this place is proper quality and the staff should be very proud of the place they run!
P. B.
Just went for tea as wife's birthday.Food good, service good, shame that the six kids running around didn't listen to the staff and stop, otherwise would of been 5 stars. Parents take note take charge of your chimps, just wish one would of run into a table.
G. B.
Lovely food, fantastic surroundings and brilliant staff... nothing else to say. Go you won't be disappointed.
S. M.
Bit of confusion over timing of starters but besides that food was great. Thanks for the birthday cake!
S. H.
As always lovely food and excellent service, the restaurant was quite busy for a Monday be the atmosphere was fantastic , special mention to Rachel who , even while rushed off her feet, continued to smile and keep everyone served and happy in her usual way
I. S.
Food was absolutely amazing and members of staff were great the things I would only recommend is the break between starter and main be shorter as people who didn’t have starter were waiting a while, and the service charge should definitely be mentioned before just automatically adding it to the bill an option would be better rather than been done discreetly
M. P.
First time eating here, have to say we were very impressed.. We ate early so maybe why it wasn't so busy but loved the relaxed atmosphere. The pub is very nicely decorated and clean. I had the hunters chicken and my wife had the steak and ale pie, both meals were lovely and a good size. Look forward to going back..
r. c.
Perfect! sat outside in the sun 😎 great food, a really nice pint and friendly staff. Honestly it was a pleasure. Thank you Talbot staff
S. B.

Excellent
10 of us visited The Talbot yesterday and everything about the visit was fantastic.
Great refurb, friendly and professional staff, varied menu and absolutely delicious food.We will definitely be returning very soon and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND calling in if I the area.
Well done 👍
K. B.
Excellent. Far beyond expectations, fabulous diverse and beautifully presented Valentines menu. Food was amazing. Lovely interior, great staff, strongly recommended.
P. S.
Lovely and cosy. Friendly staff. Good menu choice and great tasting food. Very bust we visited at lunchtime mid week and it was very busy.
J. D.
Nice place, but very cold where we were sat. Food was OK but the sirloin steak was quite tough! Also a long wait for food. Staff were fine. Would only go back if guaranteed a warmer place.
C. C.
Wow.
This is superb.
Definitely recommend
Fantastic meal
Excellent service.
Decor is so lovely.
So nice to see a dog friendly pub too
Kelly the manageress made us so welcome, the waitress Caitlin was really good.

Really lovely rib eye steak with all of the trimmings add mushrooms in garlic and cheese and peppercorn sauce, superb, great service Really friendly helpful staff and the real fires warm and comfortable on a cold winters night, thanknyou for a great evening
J. M.
Lovely place with good range of food and drinks available. Although we didn't sit outside, the area looks pleasant. Good customer service. First visit but will definitely be back. 😀 Dog friendly too! 🐾
E. 1.
Great property lovely inside and out with a warm welcome. Food was great the only negative comment I can make is the glasses of Prosecco my girlfriend was ordering where half full. I find a glass should be a glass very tight if you ask me. The service was a little slow but it was busy.
C. H.
First time to this place and we found it really welcoming and great food. The social distancing policies are thorough without being overbearing and we felt safe and comfortable on a pleasant spacious environment. Helpful and welcoming staff. Will definitely return.
S. K.
Lovely clean pub. Smashing food and drink variety. Loved it.
C. T.
Recently refurbished Wonderful fresh look staff attentive as ever and the food was well delicious and service outstanding Thank you
A. J.

Been here two/three times now and the place is always lovely and cosy. The staff there do a ace job with checking on you and the food is beautiful!! I believe if you are in the area pop into the Talbot, you will not be disappointed!
S. H.
I have never been to the Talbot before, but i will certainly be going back. We went for Sunday Lunch last Sunday. The food was fantastic with beautifull vegetables that i had never tried before
It was just perfect. The Staff are extremely friendly and attentive. If you love good food and like to be waited on with expertise, this is the place to go.
Desserts to die for. Thank you Talbot for a wonderful day xxx
G. R.
Popped in for a quick drink after hiking up the Cloud. Seems like a nice place, apparently recently refurbished. Menu looks good (only saw the Sunday version) which contained a couple of vegan options. Will definitely being going nack to try the food.
s. h.
Went here today with hubby for a drink .we were very impressed with the measures they have put in place with covid19. One way system in and out, sanatize hands on entrance and track n trace done on your phone and orders taken from table so no queuing at the bar .tables are very well spaced out will definitely visit here again 😁
N. B.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch 👍 yeh can recommend it for a good place to dine
M. A.
Beautiful food
Lovely atmosphere
Great service
What more could you want. 😊😊😊
z. f.
Lovely food, some criticism salad could be presented better makes all the difference, some greens on Steak dishes. Typical menu for these chains bit boring at times not enough less calorie laden food choice. Service was slow maybe due to new staff
D. D.
Food was very tasty. New staff on tonight so service slower than ideal. Management very accommodating in complaints about food not ideally warm enough and complaints swiftly rectified to the satisfaction of the party. Thank you to The Talbot for accommodating us and swiftly dealing with our complaints
T. B.
Called in whilst in the area. Lovely pub with great food.
G. S.
Generaly a nice pub with nice staff and a good atmosphere. However about 25% of the menu was unavailable due to impending renovations, but the pub failed to inform us of this prior to arriving!
The prices are about average for this type of up market venue, but we all felt the portions were somewhat on the small side and not all that remarkable considerating the price.
Other similar venues can still be found which albeit, charge about the same, but provide a better 'eating' experiance.
To sum up, a pleasant evening but left feeling a bit short changed.
C. S.
Thanks to everyone at The Talbot for looking after our wedding party so well. We were made very welcome, and were looked after from start to finish. Everyone had a very enjoyable, relaxed evening.with lovely food and drink.
M. M.
Good quality food, lovely surroundings. Much better since renovations. Well worth a visit.
N. T.
The pub looks lovely, very clean, great decor and states it welcomes "Muddy boots and paws". Went in with very muddy boots and was wet from rain, walked in and felt very out of place. I would go again but for a special occasion. The prices are also steep for a pub after a walk.
d. t.
Generally the food is really nice. Was there for a wake and seemed to be a delay for some reason.
V. P.
Food good but the deserts were a very skinny portion and suprised large service charge. Witch we didn't pay
W. W. N.
First visit to this Pub with my friend.
We were served by a young, competent and pleasant waitress Olivia. We requested to change to outdoor seating, she checked with her Manager and accommodated our request.
Ample parking facilities.
Will definitely visit again although the poached egg was overcooked.
g. f.
Fantastic meal & wonderful service with the staff can't wait to return again
S. B.
Lovely food and excellent customer service . The waiters were excellent
L. J.
My friend and I are local to the area and been visiting the The Talbot for lunch and evening meals for the last 25 years, we have seen some changes.
The last face lift has been a good transition from it looking a little tired to looking fresh but still traditional…. It is still the good old Talbot !!
With any where you go food can be a bit “hit and miss” we all have those days ! However there isn’t many times over the years we have had bad service or meal .
My friend and I went for a catch up, the staff were outstanding not at all pushy for us to order. They were all very pleasant and had time to chat , but remained professional attending to everyone’s needs .
Unfortunately I did not get the ladies names that were on the bar and serving and on the till, however they had great patience and very helpful and went above and beyond what was expected of them.
I am sure if they read the review they will know who We were, if I sign off Freixenet DOC Thank you ladies there are still some lovely genuine people and it made my night and appreciate your generosity .
It’s gone down well !! Thank you 😊
Date of visit: 18th October 2021

Have been visiting the Talbot for nigh on 30 years and have never experience poor service or a bad meal.
M. F.
Lovely great service enjoyed all our meals thank you
A. C.
I live locally but haven't visited The Talbot for many months due to Covid. Myself and my extended family visited today along with our young dog and we very much enjoyed our visit. The manager was polite, attentive and very welcoming of us all - offering good service and a sense of humour. Recommended.
n. g.
I was taken to the Talbot for Fathers Day for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The lunch was excellent and from start to finish the service was fantastic. In the current situation quite challenging for establishments to get it right, but have to say the service and food was great. Will definitely be visiting again and for a relaxing and enjoyable experience recommend The Talbot. Thanks The Granges
l. g.
Really nice lunch here, as the national trust cafe is a bit naff .
a. c.
Really nice pub/settings,& the food was immaculate, would recommend booking a table, soon gets busy 👍
C. M.
Nice meal but the highlight was the staff. Olivia was exemplary in her politeness and thoughtfulness. She looked after us really well and has a lovely calm way about her. She was also there when we needed her but not hovering - elegant in her attitude and attuned to what customers want. Ten out of ten for her.
a. m.
Quality food and drinks

Plenty car parking too
I. F.
Tasty meal, good service at a pub which has a lovely feel about it 😀
B. D.
Nice decor. Lovely tasty fish cakes and new pots.and asparagus xx
W. N.
Staff brilliant as always. Food good, just not hot enough this time ~ we had to ask for a fresh portion of chips for one meal as they were too cool.
A second meal (no chips) was lukewarm.
Won't stop us going again though, we have to make allowances for everything in the current situation.
We are lucky to still have the Talbot, when so many places have had to close forever....
C.
Went today for lunch, the setting is rustic and welcoming, the food was amazing! The staff very friendly and helpful.
Well worth a visit!
Will definitely be back.
V. L.
Thank goodness this wonderful place has re-opened! We were glad to be back and delighted with the food and service. Such a lovely pub with a great menu - we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be returning again soon.
l. e.
We love it here. Best outdoor seating area in Biddulph and Becky is brilliant every time we go. The young lady serving us tonight was great too (Molly). We will be back!
C. M.
Great food as usual, served by tim who was helpful
B. H.
Lovely food and looks great after the refurb. We brought our dog with us and the staff were brilliant with him, they even brought him out a cooked sausage with our meals
J.
Visited this pub mid-week, it's a very nice pub, plenty of parking and space to sit outside. We had not booked a table but found the staff to be very accommodating. We ordered drinks and food almost straight away, Calamari was absolutely delicious, slight wait for mains but if your not in a rush it's worth the wait, especially the burger sauce. Would definitely recommend for a lunch date, just a second away from Biddulph Grange for all those NT visitors. Staff very nice and polite, food delicious and homemade, very Covid safe. 😷
E. H.
Excellent. Recommended to us by my son
Lovely food and pleasant surroundings.
B.
Great to see strict management on the number of people allowed to book in. Felt really comfortable with limited numbers of people around us while having some food and drink. Great food, brilliant service from all staff. Highly recommended 👌🏻
B. W.
It was OK could of been nicer but was a nice family night out
N. H.
An upmarket country style pub with very friendly staff and excellent food.
Everybody in our group of 10 was impressed tonight.
d. R.
Lovely place, location, food ok.
m. t.
First time here lovely ambience real homely and friendly atmosphere. Had a long wait though for meal but didn't worry us to much as busy catching up with friends. I had the lamb rump which was very flavourful when I managed to cut it! The other meals were ok but nothing exceptional but nicely presented. Overall though good value for the price which included wine with the meal.
J.
Good food. Good service. Dog friendly.
W. N. B.
The staff are great but sometimes struggle to compensate for the chaotic management - and have to spend a lot of their time saying sorry. But it is, otherwise, a decent dog friendly pub and is close to the NT at Biddulph Grange
A. P.
Very welcoming staff nice place lovely food highly recommend
N. C.
First time in here this year. Menu has been revamped and is much better. We ordered some pies and fish and chips. The service was excellent and our meals were soon with us. The meals were very good and the staff couldn't have been better. We will definitely be returning!
D. C.
Beautiful food. Great surroundings and excellent service. Ideal for walkers with or without dogs.
C. H.
Went for Sunday lunch was tasty but a little over priced. Had to pay extra for things I would expect as standard on a Sunday lunch like cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets.
K. C.
Went for tea this evening with our granddaughter. My gammon looked undercooked in some areas which I left and mentioned to the waitress. She said she would have a word with the kitchen, but I got no response back. Asked for tomato ketchup and got mayonnaise instead. Asked for a coke with a slice of lemon and got lime instead. Seemed as if they were not really paying attention. Overall not that impressed with the food or the lack of attention to requests, as mentioned above.
D. F.
Excellent meal again at the Talbot. We were served by the manager Becky who was very attentive. They have a new app which is good too. We will be back!
a. j.
Excellent food, friendly staff.
M. T.
Bit more expensive than l thought, but worth every penny, food delicious, service good
M. C.
Amazing as always! Great atmosphere, great drink, great food. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended
H. T.
Terribly understaffed so the poor staff, while lovely, had no chance of providing decent service. The food was tasty but luke warm and my sons children's meal was inedible other than the chips- although great to see grilled chicken on the menu instead of nuggets.
N. H.
Delicious Sunday lunch at reasonable prices with a great variety of vegetables to share. We arrived at about 12 30 on a sunny winter's Sunday and found we were easily able to get a table, but it filled very quickly so might be worth booking ahead! Lovely atmosphere, we were right next to the open fire which was perfect. The staff kept it going nicely keeping us toasty and warm.
A. R.
Beautiful pub. Great service. Wonderful tasty food.
D. B.
Had a really nice meal, the staff were very friendly and we sat outside in the sun.
A enjoyable afternoon and we would highly recommend this establishment.
S. M.
1st time visit to the Talbot and it was lovely. Had a Sunday roast meal which was delicious and excellent value for money. Nicely decorated and very welcoming. Enjoyed it that much we've booked for Xmas Eve. Well worth a visit.
P. B.
Great pub for all ages with lovely food
t. a.
Service was excellent, food was nice.
P. D.
We go here quite a lot joan has cod and chips and peas but no chips if you dont ask for extra peas get a paltry amount in a bowl when tins of peas are about 18 pence in liddl I usually have a burger but have tried the hock bone was as thick as your finger not what I would call a hock you can join thier club and recieve emails when offers are on was 33percent of in january taking meals down to prices they should be
Feel like myself i am running out of meal choices had steak and ale pie but knew chips wiuld be whiterthan white so chose skinny fries and they were not better and veg was very soggy but Joan enjoys fish and peas she does not have chips
Good to see they have finslly fixed the log 🔥 fire
We were using a voucher so i had the belly pork at£ 15.50 with dauphinous potatoes moulded into a circle
Was ok but would not spend my own money on a basically cheap meal dolled up
Tried 8 ounce gamon with eggs(small) and chips i had unusually for me extras with my steak mushrooms in cheese sauce ten fir two piunds fifty wont have any extras again we had a small beef sandwiche with new potatoes instead of chip s very good fo 7 75 or double the bread for 9 50 joan had childs lasagna you can hace choice of 4 veg and four msin veg potatoes farlic bread sweet potatoe fries rice and more for 5 75 very 👍
Sorry for typos may have had a whisky
K. O.
Fantastic food.Fantastic friendly staff loved it.
F. K.
Really nice food well presented great staff and very good Covid19 controls in place. Excellent location with free parking directly across from the establishment. I'll be going back at some point soon.
G. S.
We booked last minute and arrived with 10 minutes to spare. First impressions, I liked it, it was in keeping with the other Vintage inns I've visited. Staff were attentive and pleasant. We ordered our food etc and unfortunately when it arrived my order was wrong. I ordered gammon and fish cakes arrived. The lady apologized as it was her fault, she had pressed the wrong button on her tablet. The lady had said my meal wouldn't be long, 3 minutes. 10 minutes in I still had no food, the others were halfway through theirs. It came after 15 minutes. Not the best experience. Following mains we had puddings and hot drinks. We asked for the bill. I personally would have thought a small discount would have been for mishap but no. When I asked, the lady went to ask. She came back having removed a sweet and a hot drink. We will probably return in the future, these things happen. Food was ok.
t. H.
The pub is lovely and a great atmosphere
The table service was excellent and friendly and the food outstanding.
Highly recommended
D. T.
Have been coming to The Talbot for years and it has never disappointed. The service is great and the food is lovely. Not only that, but the atmosphere is always brilliant. You are welcomed as soon as you enter the door. This is reflected on how thriving and vibrant it always is. Not many better places locally to enjoy a meal with friends and family.
A. M.
Food was OK. Staff were lovely. Place was far too hot even on a mild day forcing us to skip dessert.
D. N.
Great little pub so warm and Great selection of beers.
W. H.
Went with a family to catch up. The Talbot was busy but we were allocated a table. The service was first class and the meal excellent. One thing I noticed that when a table was vacated the staff cleared the dishes and polished the table top so it was imaculate and ready. Well done!
G. S.
Lovely food and staff too
C. H.
My first visit for many years living at the opposite end of the city and the restaurant/ bar was pretty full for a Thursday lunchtime.
We were warned there might be a delay with the number of diners, but the wait was acceptable and the food was excellent
I will return.
R. C.
Went here with my wife and 18month old daughter, the food and drink was lovely, the staff were really friendly and the pub itself is a lovely place with a generous amount of parking. The only issue was that the first two mains we ordered had 'ran out' so we had to have our second choice, nonetheless it was still great.
C. D.
Absolutely fantastic service and food. This was our second visit. The staff were brilliant. We were so impressed with the service. We booked in as a table of five and they were clearly busy but we didn't have to wait long. The food was excellent. All of us enjoyed what we had. The waiter (blonde young man - Ryan Gosling lookalike) was so professional and helpful and he made it seem effortless. Clearly good at his job. But not just him; everyone who came to our table was helpful, polite and had perfect waiting on skills. It's not just about taking down orders; it really is a skill not to be too conversational or too aloof and they were brilliant. Gosling lookalike and a lovely blonde lady who served us our food stood out the most. Wonderful. Can't wait to go back!
G.
Great pub. Dogs very welcome in the bar area. We booked ahead and they had a bowl of water waiting by the table for her and there are blankets and dog biscuits as well. Service and food was also good. Will definitely return when we are in the area again.
L. W.
Very pleasant drink sat outside in the sun,pub was very busy so best to book if you would like to dine.
L. H.
Lovely lunch and a couple of drinks sat at the outdoor seating. Lovely location and great food and service. Great that dogs are welcome as well.
E. J.
Great service. Kids got a free icecream because they helped manager brush up outside. Genuinely great experience. Makes all the difference that extra bit of care and attention. Food good and reasonably priced. Sat outside. Was clean and new parasols look great. 10/10!
a. g.
Lovely family 21st birthday celebration. Staff very good and food lovely. Very impressed by attentive waitress. Compliments on our choice of venue. Good variety of vegetarian choices. Catered for a diet specific menu type.
J. B.
Lovely food and very helpful staff!!
L. E.
We love coming here when we come to the Grange. Our favourite table is 182 just behind the fire. Yesterday we came and both had the fixed price menu. Great value for money and the food came quickly.
A. B.
We had a lovely meal at the Talbot, they were very welcoming, even though we had our Lakeland Terrier with us. The food was great, fresh and well cooked, and the service was quick and professional.
M. S.
Never been here before but driven past it everyday on the way to work. The staff were fab, great choice of gins if that's your tipple and food was amazing. Will definitely be coming back again

Beautiful atmosphere and layout, great location. Staff attentive and pleasant. Food is good and we weren't left waiting around considering it was a busy Sunday. Menu provides good traditional pub food, although more vegetarian options could be available.
J. H.
It's no the first time we have eaten here. It is our daughters favourite place to eat, and again we had fantastic meals. Fabulous service by Vicky. 1st class, couldn't fault one bit.
p. w.
Excellent food , fantastic service
S. N.
A nice country bar to visit. Good for business meetings or family get togethers. No chance to sample the food on this occasion, but evidence of good food coming from the kitchen was favourable. Nice spacious property with up to date decor.
Staff and service very good
G. B.
Lovely food, great setting, staff were very friendly. Food was amazing. Love the atmosphere of an old pub but very modern inside. Great carpark across the road with loads of parking spaces. Would definitely recommend.
K. R.
Disappointed my Sunday Lunch came without Yorkshire pudding although the menu stated that these should be included. When this was questioned the response was poor and that this was the problem they have run out, not very apologetic and would of been nice to have been advised of this prior to ordering the Sunday lunch rather than just not getting any.
R. H.
Great food
Very helpful staff
J. C.
Good food but don't like being rushed from our table by the bill being presented unasked for i might add because we didn't refused a sweet course.. We would have had another drink or coffees but decided not to when the bill was delivered... Obviously they wanted us out...Its not as if the place was full... Plenty of empty tables. But non free in the bar area.
s. k.
The food is amazing but the young lad in the till shirt changed me. But they rectified it straight away once I asked them to check. The atmosphere here is fantastic and I've become a regular. Highly recommended wether for a drink or for something to eat.
L. B.
First visit since last year! Impressed with their system, staff member greeted us and explained the rules and regulations well, social distancing was great, hygiene spot on, food delicious but food prices quite expensive if it hadn't of been for the 50% off 'help out to eat out scheme' but overall a lovely visit
C. H.
Lovely location and good service ...only had a light snack but what we had was lovely
T. J.
Service and food very good !!! Would recommend to everybody.
a. p.
Beautiful, lovely food
N. S.
Lovely food, lovely staff, excellent service and a really enjoyable meal.
M. B.
Fantastic pub, with friendly staff who excellently observe current covid regulations. Great atmosphere and selection of food and drinks! The banoffee pie for dessert is a winner!
G. P.
Lovely meal and staff.
j. m.
Had a great meal from the set menu which was good value. It was quite busy but the service was excellent. The pub has a good atmosphere and I would recommend it as a nice place to meet friends.
T. 5.
Really nice, very good food and service. Location is good all year round, access is really good for all. Prices are OK, setting inside the pub is nice but means you usually spend a while in there. Only down side is that it gets very busy in peak times, but that shows you it's good place to visit.
D. P.
Booked in at 1.00 didn't get served till 2.30 people coming in behind got served before the food brill the service was brill as well just the waiting was a downer
D. P.
The Talbot serves food all day. Good wholesome food served in a lovely friendly, cosy atmosphere. My friend and I had a table next to a real fire. What more could you ask for!
A. C.
Good food but on the borderline what I would call expensive for some of the courses but was hot and tasty
B. B. (.
We did have a very nice dinner next to the fire place. The meal was good and the staff is very nice. Also enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the nice whisky they have, Glenmorangie was perfect and really cheap! (£4.50 for a double!). Decent meal for a decent price. Highly recommanded!
A. D.
Lovely vintage pub, set in a lovely quite location near the Grange Gardens, nice food, friendly staff.
P. B.
The pub restaurant is very quaint in the rural setting of Biddulph Moor. The car park is across the road and at times, the road and the pub can get busy so be mindful with children if visiting here.
Husband and father in law had steak, I had the vegan menu, whilst my mother in law had a pie for our main meals. All main meals were hot, fresh and mainly ok, but the blue cheese sauce that came with the steaks was not blue cheese. It was cheddar and my husband said it wasn't very nice.
I had the vegan cauliflower soup for starters which was inedible as it was too peppery. My husband had pate which he said was tasty but not much of it. Father in law had calamari and had no complaints. Mother in law had mushrooms and again said they were tasty. The bill was £131. Not the cheapest of places but the meals were mainly ok apart from the sauce and the soup.
R. A.
First visit tonight. The food was lovely and the service was great. We will definitely be coming back.We ordered the three courses off the weekend menu and all the food was lovely. Great atmosphere and great service .
H. L.
What a find, fabulous Sunday lunch, we'll be back
S. H.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Will definitely be returning
H. b.
Only called for a drink but very impressed with the safety precautions taken post Covid lockdown. Still a welcoming feel about the place. We will be returning for food after testing the waters.
C. D.
Amazing athmosphere, cozy and warm. 5 stars service and tasty food. If you like pies, you can visit on "Pie wednesday". Lots of wines, gins and beers to choose from. Also, is a dog friendly pub, you can bring your dog and sit at one of the bar tables, on the stoned floor.
J. F.
Great social distancing & service, excellent food & choices with good portions. Definitely going again
J. D.
Enjoyed the food friendly staff
N. M.
Had a nice meal and a drink. Friendly staff and well established routine post covid. Free car parking, toilets, beer garden. The food was nice but wasnt highly remarkable. Would return.
B. P.
Social distancing was good. Food wasn't the best. Steak was grizzly and Gammon steak was tougher than expected. Glad we had a voucher.
D. C.
Amazing food and very good service
A. D.
Sizeable pub which is part of the Vintage Inns chain. Nice atmosphere, courteous and friendly staff combine with a great menu and drink selection. It caters for couples and families alike and there is plenty of car parking available opposite the pub.
T. S.
The Talbot can be extremely busy at times so it's always worthwhile ringing ahead to book a table if you want to be certain of one.
There is a wide variety of dishes and a weekly specials menu.
J. S.
Beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. It's a great place to have a drink and relax. The food is good and I go regularly but, I think the menu could do with freshening up as I visit that often I'm bored.
M. P.
Had evening meal with two friends. Absolutely perfect. Food amazing and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.
P. T.
Nice atmosphere, nice food.
J. U.
Beautifully kept, lovely meals, friendly staff. Nothing at all to complain about and I'm so glad to have this pub as one of our locals. X
L. M.
Recently refurbished to the highest standard, cosy, fantastic food and friendly staff
M. A.
Could do better. We have come to expect better.Come on Talbot pull your socks up.
d. n.
Well what can I say....simply scrumptious food, superb service in a beautifully decorated establishment with a really lovely atmosphere. Not been for over twenty years but will be back....and very soon 10/10
A. D.
It was Tuesday night so not busy. Ordering took ages. Food microwave but edible. It was supposed to be a quick tea with our children. It took over 2 hours for 2 courses.
D. M.
Very family orientated pub. It's got a great food choice and a semi rural location. Enjoy the local walks too, Biddulph Grange only a 5 minute walk away.
C. S.
We decided on this place as it was central for 3 people having a business meeting from 3 different counties. Opens later than stated on website. Luckily it was sunny outside. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Homecooked food.
S.
Went for Christmas party. Food was lovely but we did have to wait a very long time. Saying that, the issues we had were resolved by the manager and it would not put me off going again
B. E.
Another lovely visit to a cosy, welcoming pub with friendly staff and good food. This time we came for lunch and it was quick and there’s a good choice of sandwiches or bigger meals.
B. B.
Visited a few days ago havent been in a while still as lovely as always the waitress who served us was so welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing
R. F.
Food was great, staff also, really enjoyed our meal and the Talbot finished off a nice day out
M.
The service was second to none but the food and prices let the place down. Won’t be a second visit for us.
P. P.
Always excellent food and a fantastic atmosphere, the monthly quiz (first Wednesday of the month) is not to be missed and is run by two outstanding gentlemen, have been coming here for years and never disappointed.
J. B.
Just reopened after refurbishment, very nice, cosy fires, good food.
J. A.
Decent pub food, nice variety on the menu and good value for money. Let down a little bit by not very attentive staff who always seem to have their heads buried in their food ordering gadgets!
K. T.
Food really nice, staff brilliant, we had a lovely late afternoon meal. Love the log fire makes it feel very cosy.
S. A.
Amazing food, plenty of parking, scenic views, friendly staff. All rounder! Tends to get busy and often few staff so service can be a bit slow. But no negatives otherwise :-)
R. L.
Superb established and characterful pub in rural location just outside Biddulph, Staffordshire, serving excellent food freshly prepared to order at sensible prices. Booking recommended.
D. S.
Wonderful food, worth a visit and it's doggy friendly.
S. R.
Beautiful pub in a nice location. Our mains were lovely, however our desserts weren't that nice. The service wasn't great, and there are long waits for food (and drinks) even when it's not that busy. Disappointing as it could be a really lovely pub.
J. W.
A nice restaurant with a good menu. A good vegan menu too! When we visited the fish further had broke which dissatisfied some members of our group.
J. C.
Have eaten at the Talbot on many occasions and have always found the service and food to be excellent. I am particularly impressed by the friendly welcome we receive when visiting with our little dog.
J. F.
What a great place to dine! Lovely food, great atmosphere and attentive staff. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
K. L.
Excellent great service
L. B.
nice food, staff are helpful and the prices aren't bad. Facilities are clean and make you want to return. However very popular and can't get a seat in many cases.
S. B.
Excellent food, friendly staff and beautiful inside and out. Plenty of choice on the food and drink menu and they do lots of events- I love the quiz nights
I. S.
The Talbot was an old country pub. It's now been bought by vintage inns, and turned into a gastro pub. They've left a fair bit of character when they converted it. Food is pretty good. I said they had left a fair bit of character, but have since been made aware that none of the original pub is really left at all. But it's been done in a very characterful rustic manner indeed.
Please please buy a couple of those uv insectecutor things.
p. 8.
Well I thought that I would give the Talbot another chance and iam glad I did the service was much better and the food was great. The staff where very friendly and it had a very nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place now to family and friends
C. W.
Great to see The Talbot has a vegan menu and the food we selected was really good. The place also has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were extremely friendly.

M. W.
Ok but nothing special. Frozen triple cooked chips and onion rings beef short rib was well cooked but the beef in the steak pie was tough.
L. R.
Friendly staff, prompt service, nice Sunday Lunch.
S. W.
Lovely meal, fairly priced. Chips were not as hot as they could have been. All in all, a pleasant experience.
r. S.
this pub is great normally but due to the amount of people eating there Saturday night we had to wait an hour for our main
T. R.
Nice country pub in a beautiful location. Nice for a drink. But I don't do microwaved food sorry. Shame as it's got grate potential...
R. B.
Lovely lunch as always, friendly staff too!

Our first visit to The Talbot. The atmosphere was great, the food is yummy and the staff lovely, we are looking forward to our next visit very much.
C. C.
It was ok but I was brought no cutlery for my food and for the 3rd time of visiting the sweets took to long to arrive so we left again without them. How hard is it to bring ice cream and a tort. Disappointing.
C. B.
Great vegan options !
