Reviews of Tap and Barrel ( formerly The Duke of York)

Some really unfriendly people drinking in here , not a good vibe when we visited .
Could do with better lighting inside , seems ver dark.
Drinks reasonable , staff friendly 👍🏼

My friends and I popped in for a quick drink both before and after we had a meal out The man and woman working behind the bar were very friendly and seem to genuinely take an interest in all of their customers.
The pub has also had a new covered outdoor area built which looks fabulous. I'm sure my friends and I will come back.

A decent local pub, with great priced drink and a wide selection at that. Staff are always polite and it's a great place to go for live music!

The Dook as we locals pronounce the name is a pub of many happy and everlasting memories made with friends since it became my local 15 years ago..always a friendly reception from other locals/punters when you arrive for a few pints after a hard day.
Good variety of beers in tap, abundance of spirits with specials and more tha enough bar staff to cope with the demand when it gets busy. Live gigs and karaoke on most weekends..plenty of parking and if you had a few too many then they will sort you out with a taxi.
Good atmosphere amongs the variety of punters which frequent the Duke at any day whether it be during the week or weekend..some are part of the furniture already which is what I like in a traditional pub. Prices are in line with most pubs and not too expensive, a pint of Carling and a pint of Guinness for £6.00 work for me.

Cold beer that's all we had

Visited what had been The Duke of York at Trench on Monday 19 October 2020 . There are now signs on the outside giving its new name as the 'Tap and Barrel ' fellow Camra members say it is still open and it is been updated plus some flats have been added at the rear right hand side.

A OK pub. There is a bit of a rock vibe from it although chester riggon was singing. Drinks are cheap and service is good. Toilets are a bit dirty. I can see there would be trouble in this pub and there was. A pub for a group of lads not the ladys. To be honest spend your money elsewhere.

A locals pub with decent range of drinks and decent prices. Pool table plays true.

Great choice of draught beer, ales, cider and lager. Bad Apple, a top cider for crushed apple fans. Nice staff. Would go back if in the area.
