Reviews of Try Dowr - JD Wetherspoon
C. B.
Well...I've come down to Truro from Plymouth for the day to do a coastal path walk. But first....let's have some breakfast!! Great welcome from the lady who opened up. It was quiet. It's spacious....very. Prompt with the brekky and coffee...all good. Nice feel about the place....its a Wetherspoons!!
G. R.
Very polite staff. Nicely cooked food delivered fast at a good price.
Kind and helpful too.
No complaints
Family of four.
4 empty plates and too stuffed for pudding.
A. P.
Large pub, sometimes very busy, but at other times can be quiet.
Cheap drinks (from about £2 per pint) and reasonably priced food.
Good value and not a bad pub, but I've been to many Wetherspoon pubs that are better and have more character. Tables are not cleaned very frequently and hence are often sticky.
D. S.
Great day out in Truro, lots to see and do and a Market just outside Wetherspoons.
What more could you ask for!
L. A.
Would have had a 5 star but there is always trouble here on a Saturday night. Lively place. Too many security staff, too intimidating too customers. Manager thinks he is king and what he says goes no matter the circumstances. Food is ok but is pot luck to how well cooked it will be. Prices are great, cheapest in town
C. G.
Top notch grub. I had fish and chips tonight, and it was piping hot and very tasty. We also had pitchers of cocktails, which were delish! Great value meal!
S. T.
Really good pub and good prices but when there is an issue with staff and you try and contact head office it's like flogging a dead horse. Its a continuous loop telling you to go online and they never answer your message and the problem never gets resolved and that is very poor customer service as the customer is what keeps these places open. The staff that has caused the upset and problem get away Scot free with no consequences. So overall good pub but very very poor customer service.
S. R.
Has pizza and it was huge and soooo good. Lovely thin hand made style pizza base without too much sauce. The app and being able to order from table is super and very quick and easy to set up and use.
R. T.
Good value for money no bad turn around on food. Drinks take longer to come out when ordering on the app. Apart from that all good
S. S.
Had a lovely burger here the other day. Very clean, great service and super efficient, despite it being very busy (the food served within 10mins) 😁😁👍
E. P.
Busy but very well managed. On Lemon Quay near The Hall for Cornwall, opposite the indoor market. Use Wetherspoons a lot Rate it one of the best.
M. T.
Very nice breakfast, bit busy but fast service staff are very pleasant. Portions are big. Couldn't finish it.
G. L.
Very very busy night but team were fast and efficient. Rare steak was delivered quickly and spot on .
W. S.
Service good. Food good. Exceptionally busy and a sweep up every now and again would be good as food all over the floor at the far end where we sat.
B. e. b.
I'd say this is medium size Wetherspoon pub compared to the rest that are available throughout Cornwall. Staff, foods and drinks were as expected to the standards Wetherspoon has to offer. Clean table, speedy service, reliable and clean coffee machine, it's 5⭐
S. B.
Nice clean place. Empty bar when I went in but still waited a while to be served. Staff were friendly and nice to talk to. All the drinks are well priced as you would expect.
S. B.
Lovely place, came down for my birthday weekend and we ended up coming here on the Saturday eve. Staff were so friendly. Drinks were affordable. Just a shame places cant play music or anything with the covid restrictions
A. J.
Spot on cant complain, Staff was polite and friendly enough. Place was clean and the pint was spot on. Drop in if thirsty or hungery. I can recommend the rattler and double cheese buger.. top job 👍🏾
I. D. U. B. S.
Excellent as always.. Good staff, .Good food...good drinks...great prices..
E. C.
Great food, which arrived quicker than expected as it was busy. Only complaint was it was cold with air conditioning on.
C. R.
Bar staff friendly and efficient very busy when we went in there but had great service and food was hot will call again.
R. E.
The only non dairy alternative they have for hot drinks is oat milk. Which is not great in tea and no good if you are gluten free.
T. M.
Lovely wetherspoons.. good food and refillable hot drinks at such a reasonable price.. staff all r pleasant and friendly to talk to.. would recommend a visit when in truro
k. d.
Great food fast service well worth a visit 👍
D. S.
JDW on the main square. Some outdoor seating. Busy and so the service was a bit slow but when I mentioned to the guy who was coordinating things that my coach was leaving in about 20 minutes, my drink arrived rapidly so thanks.
N. M.
Ok it is good cheap eats and drink. The staff nice I give them 5*
K. K.
Lovely food. And the service was so quick. I love the fact I got free refills on my coffee, as someone who doesn't drink and doesn't like fizzy drinks, having free refills on coffee and tea was brilliant. Only downside was the toilets were not as clean as I would of liked. But everything else was brilliant.
A. B.
Once great thing we found was when we ordered food for the kids they plated it before ours so when it arrived it was the perfect temperature for them to eat straight away. However a very big let down was how dirty the floor and tables were, there was also one point where a member of staff dropped a pot of coleslaw about 12 feet away and some of the coleslaw managed to reach me. Nothing from the staff not even an apology, it was still left on the floor 10-15mins after it had happened by which time we were leaving.
The food was good and the staff we did interact with were helpful and polite.
Better cleanliness would make it an easy 5⭐️
P. C.
Not the nicest Spoons by a long chalk.
Dirty tables, chairs and carpets!
Staff good though.
J. M.
Lovely friendly staff. Nice food. I can't believe that dogs are not allowed into Wetherspoons.
C. B.
Standard Spoons selection to be expected. Very quick turn around time from ordering food at table to delivery. Nice and spacious well layed out eating areas.
C. M.
Good service Good.food good atmosphere does exactly what you would expect.
S. G.
Lovely very clean and tidy spoons and the staff were all friendly and very helpful 😀
R. M.
My husband had the mixed grill said it was lovely and hot I had the jacket potato & 5 bean chill that was great well worth the money
A. L.
Good for a wether spoons. Really clean toilets and fast service when ordering on the app.
E. R.
Smashing fish and chips followed by a lovely cold shandy.. Only probs is that its so busy
M. B.
A very convenient location in the centre of Truro. Providing tasty meals when other eateries in the town are closed. Well worth a visit.
S. D.
Again very good value meals good service;!today's climate its good,
S. I.
The Try Dower are doing a stellar job with the social distancing. It feels safe and welcoming and still has a great atmosphere. Naomi is an excellent manager!
H. M.
Pretty good food for the price. Had the vegan burger and chips. Not bad😁
J. S.
Very busy town centre Wetherspoons, food came out quite quickly and was a fair sized portion for the price.
M. T.
Cheap and cheerful, fast and friendly service with basic food and drinks. Good venue to then go onto the cinema which is just across the road. We were lucky as went on a Friday evening not anticipating how busy it would be but still managed to get a table. It did turn out to be noisy but then obviously a popular place for younger people on a Friday night. I've been before during the week for lunch and much quieter.
L. h. o.
Typical weatherspoons cheap prices and food delivery is quick and staff very friendly and efficient always go for breakfast if in Truro.
r. p.
Great food and drink for the price friendly staff make you feel welcome 😀
H. P.
5 friends came down to Truro and we went in for lunch i the only one GLUTEN FREE the lad helped me on that awful board if you in your mid 80"s not having to end up with a jacket potato always!i ended with a super curry thanks to Jacob
I. f.
The Wetherspoons in Truro Try Dowr Served by Phil the service was amazing the food fantastic and really quick service. Phil was so helpful even took the time to show me how to download the Wetherspoons app checked with me everything was good really helpful can’t praise Phil and Wetherspoons enough for a lovely experience today
G. W.

J. M.
Very busy midweek.Long bar, good atmosphere
K. W.
Love their bottomless drinks especially the hot chocolate 😊 such great value !!
C. G.
Went there for a snack and cup of tea
It was very busy, but service was quick ☕️🌮
f. a.
A great Wetherspoons in a great location. The service and the food is good. However, the only criticism is that the staff need to keep on top of table cleaning in between customers. I would say this is a problem with most Wetherspoons I have visited.
N. M.
Yep it is like rest and that is just ok. All ok to good. Oh the staff are nice
S. L.
This is how a Wetherspoons should be. Spotlessly clean, most of the food menu 'on' and cheery welcoming staff. Food all good.
D. O.
Good service, prompt and freshly cooked food at a reasonable price
G. B.
Good food and great selection of Beers helpful and friendly service
P. T.
usual good service...bring back proper sauce dispensers ..and mustard.
P. D.
Gets very busy, but order-at- table service is very quick.
J. H.
Only had a coffee , seemed OK certainly busy
I. C.
Good food and service. Staff very friendly and efficient.
S. W.
Standard Weatherspoons experience, although I did get my 10000 steps in going to the toilet twice.
g. j.
Good quick polite service. All areas hygienic and clean looking
J. E. D. E.
Great selection of alcohol free beer & cheap alcoholic drinks £2.29 a pint.
r. p.
Fast and pleasant service time and time again. Located in the square with disabled ground floor wc and wheelchair friendly entrance.
S. V.
A typical spoons but nice food and not a long wait either
C. N.
It's an okay Weatherspoons. Stopped in for breakfast. Toast was cold, the rest of the food could have done with being cooked a little longer. All in all not revolting but we've definately had far better ones. Positive note is the free refills on the coffee.
J. P.
I have lunch here if I visit Truro, very goo service and nice food.
J. F.
Great venue and the atmosphere and Staff attentive service is top quality.
K. F.
Popular and reasonably priced eatery. Extensive menu and quick service.
R. R.
Good food and service. One to recommend
B. a. O. W.
I have been in this pub a few times whilst visiting Truro but only at lunchtime. It is a typical Wetherspoons in a prime location alongside the pedestrian area of Lemon Quay, Truro and it is a deceptively large pub.
On the last occasion I visited the pub for lunch with my wife on market day. The pub was very busy and it was clear that the staff were at full stretch. I ordered two meals via the Wetherspoons App and our meals, with drinks, arrived very quickly, almost too quickly.
I had the large mixed grill and my wife had the fish and chips.
My first impression of the mixed grill was that it smaller than normal with a miniature baked potato but it tasted fine. My wife's fish and chips appeared over cooked and it she said that it was chewy and not very nice. It was either over cooked or it had been reintroduced to the deep fat fryer to reheat it. My wife isn't one to complain and by returning the meal she would end up eating on her own. However, when the waitress asked how our meal was she did point out that it was over cooked and was not very pleasant. She had eaten what she could. The waitress, who was excellent and faultless, approached the manager(ess) who stated that nothing could be done as my wife had eaten the meal. It is a fair point and we did not seek any recompense. We generally deal with poor quality by way of feedback. The waitress did offer a free drink but my wife refused as she didn't want one.
I regard Wetherspoons as a gamble. Sometimes the food is excellent and of great value and sometimes you just get what you pay for.
We will be gambling on another location for lunch in Truro in future.
H. J.
Really busy, but the food was still great!
C. C.
Really friendly quick service.
Coffee machines all working and tables being cleaned quickly between customers.
C. B.
No "cocktails" available to order on the app but when went to the bar they could make it. No music on which is a shame, didn't realise they must not have a licence any more. Food all trodden into the floor, menus and table extremely sticky. Cheep drinks though so I suppose you get what you pay for.
M. C.
Very busy, which was to be expected I suppose on a cold miserable Saturday afternoon. I like being able to order by app from the table but would have prefered our drinks at the same time as our food, not when we've nearly finished eating.
J. C.
Very busy, food still arrived quickly , excellent mixed grill, comfortable surroundings.
D. K. W.
Not bad staff polite, ale good, pretty tidy. Sticky tables loose you one star.
C. G.
Friendly staff muffin breakfast roll and coffee really good
S.
Friendly staff and well placed in the centre of Truro. Serves Skinners ale from Truro's excellent Brewery. Good value menu.
P. P.
Great place good food cheap drinks
S. J.
Good pub, nice atmosphere, just had a small breakfast and toast, the produce was very good and tasty and cooked to perfection. Even though it was very busy, we'll done !!
T. Y. W.
The food is OK as usual. However, the tables were not cleaned when I came in. The outside tables had trash on them.
S. C.
Good position centre of city breakfast good but no mustard ☹️
N. M. W.
Like all the rest of them clean. Cheap. Does the job. Happy days
A. F.
The place was nice and clean. And we didn't have to wait to long for the good food. And the food was nice and taste
K. R.
Normal wetherspoons different decor.
Staff friendly .
B. K.
Excellent service and food great.
Well organised and friendly staff.
T. R.
I nice place for a quick drink or a meal. It can be really busy at times but worth it. The staff are really helpful especially if you accidentally spill a whole drink over the table, your friend and the floor. The only thing they couldn't help with was the embarrassment.
S. R.
Really enjoyed the halloumi wrap...lots of halloumi in it. 5 out of 5. Service great too thank you.
M.
Stopped tgere today as on holiday in cornwall. Great service great food. Piping hot and plenty of it. Staff were so attentive and pleasant. Toilets lovely and clean and plenty of access to tables . Defo go back again Well done all concerned
J. H.
It's a spoons... what can you say but for a spoons it's pretty good. Food is decent drinks are well they're drinkable
S. M.
The food was lovely! This weather spoon is alot cleaner than alot of others I've been into. Pleasant place to go for a good price on grub
B. A.
Always popular, great for coffee or tea.
I. S.
Good Food, Beer, and Service.
L.
Food came out within five minutes of ordering but the toast and bacon were barely warm so made us think it had already been plated up and left on the side until someone ordered it!
S. O.
We asked for a gluten free menu but were told to use the touch screen monitor around the corner to view what had gluten in. The majority of things had gluten in them but didnt say what actual item it was that had gluten in. There was no gluten free option provided so we had to order a normal breakfast and cut out what we thought may have gluten in it. We felt the new covid restrictions werent explained very well to us and it was assumed we knew what to do. Generally however the staff were Friendly.
P. W.
Very busy, , great food and lovely staff.
M. E.
Happy friendly staff, good food
I. F.
Very nice staff and good beer with good pub food at amazing prices. This pub chain is obviously well managed, place is clean, toilets are kept clean. You know what your going to get each and every time and I love the price points.
R. D.
Blinding service, good food well cooked and we'll presented by happy staff. All six of us thourghly enjoyed it. No need to change anything here, you've got it bang on.
J. F.
Very busy. Staff helpful. Food, you get what you pay for so good value. Apparently the beers are excellent value for money.
P. A.
Awesome staff grate kitchen I enjoyed 😉
J. F.
Wetherspoons is cheap food for price but not cheap on quality. Very busy but no delay on food arriving. Hot drinks refill within the price. Finished meal was cleared away quickly which was good. Not a place for a quiet meal but what they do, they do very well. Been to this one in Truro a few times now and never been let down
C. T.
Had a mixed grill and a drink, excellent service and good food. Good price and nice place.
T. M.
Great prices and clean but service spoiled by lack of staff. The pub is well situated right on Lemon Quay in a prominent position.
S. W.
Nice enough. Surprised not seen tables being wiped over (it may have been happening just not witnessed). Many people using outside tables as resting/waiting area so no room for customers 🤔
J. D.
I loved it. Cheap and cheerful. Exactly what is needed in Newquay.
I. B.
Went in for breakfast, helpful staff, ordering from the app or table service. Only at the tables can you take your masks off. Felt safe as all social distancing & cleaning measures are in place.
I. M.
Good size spoons pub serving value drinks and pub food. Visited during a six nations rugby. Fortunately showing Rugby as on ITV.
D. J.
A quick pitstop for lunch. Food was superb and the staff looked like they were practically running around the pub they were that busy!!
As always cheap prices. Thanks Tim!!
D. R.
Nice pub good breakfast
D. S.
Not a bad brunch, veggie sausage way overcooked but were refunded in a very polite way, the pizza and my meat brunch were very good.
E. R.
What a breath of fresh air to find a pub that is run properly. Courteous and extremely helpful staff. Everything was carried out professionally from the door to the food orders. After the poor service we experienced in Newquay this was heaven.
Lovely place all round and highly recommended.
J. D.
As good as always , I love weatherspoons having visited over 25 of them
J. D.
Its a lovely large pub however there was a queue of people waiting to be served and only 1 person serving so a bit of a wait considering how large the bar is and there were other staff about was just a bit annoying
J. H.
OK,no.option to remove beans from breakfast. Coffee out the machine not very nice.
Sausages bland, bacon great eggs not cooked very well so runny.
S. R.
You go to whetherspoons for the price and the venue. It's hard to praise much more than its value. The staff are clearly overworked and spread thin during the pandemic and this impacts every other aspect that doesn't directly relate to the people you are with.
That said, it's a good value place to get breakfast and you use an app to pay so there's minimal human contact.
K. F.
Kid friendly, we didn't get thrown out! I'll say no more
F. P.
After a concert at the Hall for Cornwall, there was an influx of customers. So the bar was a little understaffed, but they coped, just! 3/1/2022
H. T.
It is a nice spacious wetherspoons. The only down side hence why I've given it 3 stars was the cleanliness of the tables
K. S.
Great point of Doombar and a terrific cod and chips..Highly recommended.
J. B.
Nice food, good price
r. c.
Food was quick and cooked well, staff very pleasant too
H. P.
Nice setting and I love the idea of using the app to order food - it's a bit of a lazy way of doing things but it's convenient. With a spoons, you know what you're getting and it's nice to have that standard. Would I return? Yes, it's great for the kids too.
J. L.
Really great and friendly place. The staff have a fantastic customer service going on, always serving you with a smile on their face. Babys and children are very welcome. Food is served to you, not long after you have placed your order. Has an outside seating area, so you can watch the world go by.
M. F.
The price of the beer is the main attraction, but it is always good quality beer. It can get a bit busy at lunchtime but mid to late afternoon is a bit quieter and is the best time if you want a table and food.
r. d.
Love wetherspoons but this one takes the biscuit the menu has four sides to it went in ask for menu was given one side printed of I said is this it she said yes not help full went to the bar and ask the manager for the menu he gave me yet one more bit of the menu i ask is this it and he said yes so my worst time in wetherspoons so i left and wasn't surprised when i looked at there reviews
C. J.
Good food and service but lack of masks by staff and/or public moving around did not make us feel particularly safe.
D. M.
Good for having a coffee & catch up. Would not have there small breakfast not worth it go for the bigger breakfast looks a lot more appetizing. Plus you buy one cup of coffee & you can refill as many times as you want.
N. P.
Not bad at all. Good prices for food and drink. £1.50 for unlimited coffee and currently have a selection of pints priced at £1.99 each.
Can get busy on weekends and if you need the loo you have to climb two flights of stairs which is the same as most Wetherspoons.
M. S.
Had a breakfast in there this morning. Good food at a reasonable price. Nice and clean too.
P. C.
Despite being a very busy pub wait for food was short. Good value.
R. B.
All hand wash dispensers are empty, not good enough, someone on staff needs to check them. Food is, mediocre at best try Spoons in st austell or perranporth for better eating
B. E.
Called in for a meal yesterday 16/9/20 and could not believe what i saw, two employees one of which may have been the manager and the other waiting staff.
Both were talking to each other only two feet apart, the male member of staff was holding someone's meal chest height while both were chatting over the meal, they were not wearing a mask or visor. (One way to spread corona virus) Don't think i will be going there again.
R. P.
Working tirelessly to adhere to social distancing, but they are up against it here. No defined one way system, a central batch of tables that cannot be avoided, unless you are 1m away from them...pointless. The obligatory collection of mum's with tums and babies...plus the strollers...I counted 18 yesterday...and pretty sure a baby count in the rule of 6?
3 adults, 2 children plus 2 babies????
Point deducted because of the very bad layout. Helpful and friendly staff, who deserve a medal for the effort they are putting in.
S. A.
Good for a quick no frills breakfast.
B. S.
A very nice spot for a bite to eat, or a few drinks. Typical Wetherspoons, clean and tidy, with fantastic facilities. A decent amount of choice for both food and drink menus, with the usual quality and value you expect from this chain. Always a good safe choice!
R. H.
Very busy, but very organised. Place needs a revamp and staff need slightly more training in cleaning as the tables are all wiped over very roughly. Half our table was clean, half was stick and still covered in food. Still a nice place overall though
B. V.
another Wetherspoons gem, been to many, and rate them on their fish and chips lunch. another good venue, worth every penny (pound)
.
C. Y.
Nice atmosphere great value.
R. M.
Maybe short staffed so un cleared tables with eating areas not tidy. Coffee machine not working however staff were obviously busy but still were polite and professional and we were served fairly quick and the food was OK. You get exactly what you pay for
J. M.
Love the app for buying food and drink.
Always cheap
J. T.
A very popular spoons always packed with locals and tourists, even when there super busy the food is still flying out of the kitchen. A great place to go meet with friends for drinks or a sit down meal and the food is always a great quality considering how cheap it is compared to other food places surving the same kind of meals. I would prefer going to spoons over a fancy restaurant any time of the day. Will be going again for sure.
P. S.
Good Wetherspoons pub with all the ussual menus and beers. Lovely building but tables a bit too close so people keep pushing past. Was very busy so tables were messy and not cleared therefore not the best experience. However food and beers were very good so retrieved some points
t. f.
Good pub, but does get very busy, you can have food here, but phone first, as we tried to book a table for Saturday, but as it so busy, we couldn't. But we all fitted in. The food is good, and the drinks are a fair price.
C. S.
Quick service, food seemed to be reheated as we got served within 10 mins of ordering, didn't have complaints with mine, but however my kids meals were a bit bland, mash came tasted like it came from a packet. Portion size was quite large. Overall okayish and cheap so u get what you pay for. X
t. m.
In here again and as usual the standard of service is excellent!
Place is clean staff and management are courteous and very helpful.
Have had the curry and great value for money and very tasty.
Great choice of beers and cider .
Thank you and see you soon.
m. c.
A two sided sword here, one member of staff watching me stood at the bar chatting was more important to her. Not happy to serve us when I asked for sweeteners she reluctantly said I will get someone to get them. However whilst I was waiting a member of staff called Kim asked if we were Ok in a really friendly manner. Kim then asked if everything was alright at the table, such a difference between them thank you Kim. :)
F. D.
Usual consistent standard typical of Wetherspoons.
You know what you get no matter where you go in the country and Try Dowr is another example of this.
Meal deals are worth going for and drinks are very reasonably priced too.
Fast, efficient service and if you use the App you can order from your table.(Very handy if you are on your own and don`t want to lose your table while ordering at the bar - It happens!)
Plenty of different seating areas to suit families or someone on their own just wanting to eat or drink in peace.
Never a problem if you want to charge a mobile device, unlike some establishments that don`t seem to think in this day and age it is relevant to do so.
M. R.
Busy busy busy, took a while to find a table and my wife's red wine was chilled!! ?? BUT the food came out quickly and was good, there's free WiFi and toilets were clean. Not much difference in price for 2 x adults and 2 x teens from eating in McD's or KFC now.
AND they now sell Brewdog 👍🍺
c. w.
Cheap breakfast and reasonable quality
K. H.
Always a good value breakfast with re fills for tea and coffee, great for meeting up with friend but don't want alcohol, or just a break from shopping, plenty of seating so finding a seat during the day isn't normally a problem.
J. C.
Had to wait outside for 25 minutes in the rain but got in eventually. Food was good. As expected. Hubby had steak I had gammon. We both enjoyed. Would go again.
N. B.
Nice Wetherspoons venue. The food taste and quality is far superior to the price, as any Wetherspoon is. I did however find the staff a bit loud and obnoxious and many vacant tables left with plates (will admit it may have been a busy lunch hour, but come on it's a basic part of catering). Would still recommend to anyone and it is situated in a practical part of the City :)
R. S.
Busy as usual cheap food and drink
K. L.
My son dropped me in Truro on his way to work so as it was early I found Try Dowr and enjoyed a Wetherspoons breakfast with unlimited coffee.
P. T.
Had a great nite we dressed up as peaky blinders and the manager asked what the occasion was my 50th birthday a gave me 20 % discount on around of drinks top chap
W. N. F.
Amazing service and facilities. Food was great but wait times aren't great - the food arrived way before the drinks
J. D.
I cannot praise highly enough the management in this pub. They deal with so many customers every day, not all them house trained seemingly, and do so with a smile.
We visited on a particularly hectic day where a woman with a pushchair left her table, and the surrounding carpet, in a disgraceful state. There were beans mashed into the carpet, fruit juice all over the table and food mess all over the high chairs she left behind.
The staff cleaned it within moments.
Anthony, the duty manager, was outstanding in his handling of a particularly aggressive customer in our presence too. Diffusing the unnecessarily confrontational customer quickly and effectively.
Very, very busy but as with most Wetherspoon's pubs, it's well priced, clean and reliable.
g. b.
Place is always clean, good cheap drinks, friendly staff, mediocre food but cheaply priced. I mean, it's not the Ritz so what would you expect. My default place to start a night on the town. Bring back the gin fizz pitcher, they were awesome!
F. G.
Exactly what one: should expect from Wetherspoons: cheap beer - I paid 2.90 for a pint of Guinness + uninteresting environment
T. W.
Cheap and cheerful, very quick to disinfect tables
N.
Our pepsi was flat so we complained, but the person serving didnt really seem to care. He did give us different drinks though.
It wasnt incredibly clean, food on the floor and on my chair.
Other than that, it was decent. Food was very very fast and hot plus the person who bought it was friendly.
S. D.
Typical Wetherspoons, cheap food, nice seats. Reason for 3 star review; do not order through the app when people are at the bar 30 minute wait for a flat Guinness. You will be the lowest priority
N. R. (.
If you go here during a weekend / evening it's often very full. Friendly bar staff, chatting and making jokes with me.
R. W.

Good service & value for money. Only had oat milk for my bottomless tea!😕
J. G.
Well laid out for socially distanced drinks/dining, however very slow service. We waited 25 minutes for a round of drinks, we'd eaten our food before the drinks came out!
m. t.
Very busy and short staffed but staff were great, food came out fast still.
Great service
M. P.
Loved it,best seat in the house by the fire. Staff really nice and friendly
M. B.
Table service after downloading the app was very fast and efficient . Food was nice
T. F.
Food was really nice and served hot. Good table service, friendly staff, clean. Steak was cooked to perfection & best tasting scampi I've had in ages
M. O.
This is a good Wetherspoons. The staff are a bit more switched-on in my opinion. Food is served faster than many of the other "SPOONS" pubs I visit. However ask for a hot plate when you order. I have had to many luke-warm breakfasts As usual, the toilets are upstairs. This seems to be the policy in most of their pubs. Clean but it annoys me! Monday cheap beer, love that
C. P.
I was greeted and served perfectly by Sarah. She was lovely. So much enthusiasm and professional behaviour. Thanks very much girl. You earn your money and deserve the best. Chris
M. C.
Typical Wetherspoon's, a pleasant atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, good food and killer prices.
B. M.
Since the change in meat suppliers, the quality of all their steaks has decreased drastically. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have low quality steak as compared to contaminated steak, but my point still stands. The gammon in particular is now just two thick bits of bacon that almost always tastes of charcoal, there is no meat on them and I refuse to believe even four slices would make up 10oz.
As also discussed, the bar service is slow no matter how many people are waiting... The staff take longer to pour drinks whilst chatting amongst themselves than the brewers take to produce them. I don't know what the place could do with to amp up the pace abit, but whatever they're doing now isn't working. I've seen guys wait for over 20 minutes, whilst people that approached the bar after are served first without any reason... To be honest there are times I've been reduced to laughter at the sheer lack of tact some of the staff show.
M. C.
Extremely quick service for food, in fact so much so the food was tepid. Just knew it couldn't have been cooked in such short time. On the plus side, the Manager was extremely apologetic, & did his best to rectify it. So full marks for customer service.
S. M.
Very lively pub. Super fast service. Excellent staff that really look after their customers. Great place to visit. Called in by accident and had a great time.
n. h.
Great service, good for families
N. V.
Really nice food and quick service been back twice now staff are all lovely and friendly too
C.
Have to say for a Saturday lunchtime the wait for food was reasonable but i ordered a Tuna Mayo Jacket potato with extra coleslaw and it was pretty poor. Tiny potato, tiny portion of coleslaw, hardly any mayo on the Tuna and no butter provided. This is one of my "go to" meals when eating out, and i have to say even Sainsbury's does it better and cheaper.
I do sometimes order other meals and they have been ok - just average. The staff however are usually friendly and helpful.
M. D.
It's a really nice place, good food and friendly staff.
P. S.
I found the bar staff very rude and abrupt, shouting at customers to get in the que , she talked to me like I was a piece of dirt , will not go back
a. m.
Food was surprisingly good for a witherspoon
A. W.
Good service. It's a Wetherspoons so you know what you are in for.
C. C.
Typical Wetherspoons experience, Cornish style. Service was quick and ordering and paying was a cinch using the app. Worth checking out if you're in the area and want some cheap lunch.
s. s.
Great staff and great food and service was really quick severed within minutes of placing the order.
J. D.
Brilliant service , tasty food , huge choice, only grumble is the app to order doesn't always work , tried on 2 separate occasions and on 2 different devices so clearly a prob with the app . Other than that its great 👍
P. Y.
Quick service. Pleasant staff and good tasty food.
T. D.
Quick pit stop for lunch. The food is great, the staff looks almost running around in the bar where they are
l.
It's very tired and a bit run down now. Most of the staff are good some a bit off putting
R. B.
What you see is what you get. Love the new free refill for coffee!
O. J.
Quick service, nice Coffe, lovly breakfast.
R. G.
This Wetherspoons gets the sun on the front tables in the morning, then the sun goes over the back in the afternoon.
My experience was pleasant and friendly staff, wide range of cheap food and drinks available.
l. c.
Always very busy, but good service, ordered on the wetherspoons app, no problem. In the center of Truro... Will go again.
K. L. S.
2nd time, not receiving my meal or not at all when ordering wings and ribs combo. Been a customer in Truro for 5 years, great service, couldn't fault at all, but for some reason, they always get it wrong when I ordered wings and ribs combo. Very quick to sort out the issues nonetheless. Would give it a 5 star if not for the occasional hiccups.
k. b.
Just to say , we had a great evening at Wetherspoons , Truro , & our hostess , Julie , was absolutely brilliant ,
really helpful , welcoming & warm. We will call again , soon!! 👍
D. H.
Great place to meet and eat. Loads of atmosphere. Unbeatable value.
X. C.
Typical wetherspoon, always a safe, good and cheap option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great location. We came on Saturday morning and it is next to the market. Street parking is free for one hour, if longer, there is a parking place nearby
J. T.
The food was good, it is what it is. The place was really busy but we did go at lunchtime. You want decent, cheap food quickly this is your place.
A. G.
Lovely atmosphere great service quality food
A. G.
Great choice of food and drinks. Excellent service.
A. D.
We chose this as a meeting place as it's very central .we used the app to order our drinks and food and it was brilliant. Would reccomened that .ideal location.great menu nice inside .friendly staff .
d. F.
Quirky set up and great food but queued for a very long time to pay. Music downstairs was far too loud could not speak in the restruant.
B. H.
One much needed Burger and fries to remind me what good eating feels like .
K. S.
Quick service as place wasnt too busy. Friendly, helpful staff.
Steak was very nice. Mix of people young and older.
k. g.
Bright cheerful pub Happy staff
S. W.
I went here yesterday. I was very impressed with the helpful friendly staff. Despite some customers not really adhering to the rules. Full marks to the very hard working staff. 👍
C. N.
We deliberately looked for a local Wetherspoons in Truro for breakfast and Try Dowr did not disappoint. We had four tasty breakfasts including 4 hot drink refills for less than £20! Speedy and friendly service. Its quite a big pub/restaurant and popular. It was quite busy when we arrived so I used the app to order our food and pay. It all worked extremely well and our refill mugs arrived about a minute after I finished paying. All good.
j. f.
God food reasonable price
P. C.
It's a Wetherspoons pub so you know what you are getting, dull layout, just a big rectangular room in a newish building.
Always busy, but good service and friendly helpful staff. Cheap beer!
G. W.
L.r.c ( le roux custurd )
Recently had a delight full dessert here. A chocolate fudge cake at a Great price 2 for £5 . Not home made but fast serive and nice ice cream. To drink i had a 125 ml house chardonnay it was quite the compliment to the full chocolate taste of the desert. The nice Christmas lights give the place some atmosphere . The table wasn't clean as we sat down but it's fine as it's really cheep . My favourite table is number 1 Or table 79 by the window . They don't take reservations so you will need a bit of luck to get the table you want . The staff are ok. Ask for James he will sort you out if u fist PUMP him as you order .
p. j.
It's what you expect from a wetherspoon's pub .
s. r.
Can't beat it in terms of price and quality. You know exactly what you're going to get and the same level of service is delivered everytime. Don't get a seat by the door though - freezing!
R. T.
It's a wetherspoons so you know what to expect. It's open and comfortable and the ale is varied and inexpensive. Sadly, many of the beers on the tap clips are not available at any given time and the overstreched staff don't seem to have the time to clear the tables and serve the long line of people waiting to order.
S.
Popped in for a quick lunch break on one of the busiest days in Truro. We were quickly served with food and drink. Good service by the staff and we were back to work in the hour.
J. W.
Clean pub and friendly Staff
A. G.
Lovely place, nice clean Wetherspoons, great staff too.
R. T.
I have been to many Wetherspoons in the UK and must say that this one disappoints. The tables are not cleared very fast, the coffee machine is sited in the wrong place. Someone should take charge and direct the staff better.
J. B.
Lovely quite pub, great curry
D. W.
Your typical spoons. Nice pub, food is good and drinks are cheap. Definitely not bad for the cost of everything. Easy to get to as well!
A. S.
Great chicken wings!! The cider is quite cheap, overall great!
R. m. M.
Food really good.service excellent.
P. W.
Busy but good service
M. G.
Only pop in for a quick coffee break, nice bar, good friendly atmosphere.
S. H.
Nice food, only thing I didn't like was the wine way too sweet !!
D. H.
Simple, basic food.. served quickly and cheap.
C. K.
Very busy place. Standard spoons. Clean and efficient. Just had drinks - speedy service
p. h.
Great pub, all day food at good prices. Very comfortable!
T. S.
Good food very busy though
R. R.
Two burgers and a wrap on our order. Two soft drinks and a gin also. Drinks super quick arrival, as was food, pipeong got and juicy tender chicken. Thanks :)
Will be back
S. C.
Excellent choice on menu, food was cooked perfectly, atmosphere was of a popular busy public house/restaurant. Will definitely use again for food.
A. S.
Food was very nice
L. B.
Severely understaffed. The people working there deserve a raise for their patience and friendliness
K. A.
Good customer service and a laugh with manager
K. R.
was really busy food didnt take that long for food to arrive and was still nice an hot and as normal good prices
m. s.
Can be very crowded with slow service. Staff are generally friendly but clearly overstretched. Beer and food are good and reasonably priced.
S. R.
The place is handy if your shopping in Truro
The downside is always busy during the day, far too many tables for the size of the place so it feels overcrowded. All Wetherspooon in Cornwall are more expensive than their up country branches, especially Bristol.
Plus side the bar staff are always cheerful. If it was a choice I would use the Spoons on either Camborne or Helston as they are far better and less crowded with cheaper parking.
S. R.
Friendly staff good value, Tim Martin top man
S. B.
Staff very friendly, breakfast was good and served very quickly. It's always busy but can always find a table somewhere.
T. D.
Excellent meal and drink. Very good value for money
M. M.
nice meal and a beer
R. B.
Nice atmosphere friendly service, however ordered an English breakfast and eggs were overcooked and beans dried out
A. B.
Very close to the bus station a little bit more expensive for food than other wetherspoons
L. G.
Ideal, nice staff, cheap prices. Toilets in a totally different universe than the one we exist in, but now I'm confident I can make it to Everest base camp!
N. P.
Lovely food. I had the carbonara pizza. Soo good.
Unfortunately can't have a dog... Not even in outside areas 😒
N. W.
First visit, used Wetherspoons app, very easy and user friendly. Food was delivered in two minutes. Friendly staff, can't fault the place.
G. S.
Service and food were good, though we were sat near the hatch where the drinks glasses were dropped off and nobody seemed to want to clear them up. This was a bit of an eyesore.
S. B.
Got to be one of the best run/managed wetherspoon pubs in the country my second visit and no change the staff are 12/10 not eaten here but i will........ exellent job to the crew
T. Q.
My fried egg was left too long under the hot lamps☹️
D. W.
Great atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices.
C. D.
Clean and tidy bathrooms really clean food good
J. B. (. R.
Standard overpriced food.
K. B.
Good Wetherspoons. We've been here many times over the last few years.
The food is usually good, and the staff are always hardworking.
C. P.
Enjoyable meal with family
A. F.
Excellent service 2 lovely curries (1 large) 2 pints, glass of wine, & a soft drink all for around £20.00, wonderful value for money.
L. B.
Was lovely here went to one in Newquay and wasn't impressed but this was lovely and staff very kind
T. V.
Had breakfast, nice and hot.staff very friendly.
D. R.
Typical Wetherspoons, but the prices are on the increase
J. H.
Nice pub, good atmosphere. Ordered table service but had to collect drinks myself as took over 10 mins.
H. C.
Normally good basic value for money but the "ploughmans" is awefull. A ploughmans has a chunk of crusty bread, butter, pickled onion, branston pickle or the like, Apple, cheese, ham, slaw or salad, girkins etc. This breach of the 'trade descriptions Act' was just two dried up slices of sliced bread encompassing a measly amount of sliced cheese and ham with a smearing of pickle stuff, accompanied by a basic small side salad! That was it, a dried up sandwich with a few salad leaves! Absolute rubbish and Wetherspoons should be mightly embarrassed!
T. H.
Very loud and not very clean customers clearing their own tables
h. s.
Nice food good choice menu. Gets very busy. Easy access for wheelchair users.
J. M.
Very fast and polite service even though they were very busy and the food was excellent. Highly recommended going there
K. B.
Was served by supervisor Tim Searle a little while ago. He really went the extra length to satisfy and his attention to detail was spot on. Looking forward to returning 😊 ss
J. M.
Really nice, had a lovely meal xx
N. X.
Nice location, it's busy and clean. It has an average food menu, nothing special
j. c.
Great spoons pub, fast service good food cheap booze perfect and having a table service app makes everything easier
L. A.
Very busy as very popular. Food lovely very quick service and they clean the tables promptly for the next customers
J. H.
Good food. Came out to the table extremely quickly. Clean and tidy.
S. C.
The best wetherspoons in my area. Nice atmosphere, good quality food and comfortable place to be given the current situation
A. D.
Good service and good deals on food and drink. Not my favourite Wetherspoons as a little soulless but can't fault the staff
K. M.
Nice food washed down with a pint of kopparburg.
T. B.
Lovely breakfast, very cheap but fast service
G. L.
Always clean and staff great
T. B.
Good atmosphere, normally drink here before going out for a meal, but would eat here when in a rush!
H. W.
It's a wetherspoons so you get what you pay for. Often tables are not cleared for a while but food generally always arrives quickly and then the tables generally get cleared. Seen better wetherspoons.
N. D. P.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Food was the best I have ever had in a weatherspoons. Very impressed!
P. S.
Great place for reasonable food. Also has a large family space if you need it. Great for the Pannier Market opposite.
S. B.
Very nice food and kind caring staff
A. “. R.
Typical of spoons but the staff are very friendly and helpful
T. M.
Not too bad.....but why does every wetherspoons have wonky bleddy tables!?
M. K.
Great value for food and drink. Very pleasant staff when we visited.
J. G.
Nice food, toilets needed checking more ofter
P. S.
Tis what it is, good breakfast but no brown sauce when we visited this time.
K. D.
Good value as Wetherspoons usually is
S. F.
Typical weatherspoons busy pleasant staff value for money
A. S.
Tasty food. Reasonable prices. Very pleasant staff! Well worth the visit
G. H.
Good atmosphere we had food which was good. Reasonable prices for drinks would recommend
S. L.
Almost every Sunday morning for BF,staff splendid, food tasty and well cooked...top notch people and thanks for the smiles.
B. F.
Brilliant place in Newquay today and drink. Staff helpful and very friendly.
Perranporth as just as good.
Keep up the good work Tim Martin.
P. J.
Whilst I generally like Wetherspoons, this branch is a bit shabby now and would benefit from a refurbishment. It also attracts less savoury customers compared to some other branches
A. L.
Reasonable prices, reasonable food, nice inside and decent staff. A good example of a Wetherspoons - decent place to have a drink & some munch.
S. f.
Been here twice now food was lovely and hot and quick service, only thing they missed the ham in my mum's sandwich, asked them about it an they bought her a whole new meal, which was great service but a piece of ham would have done 😂😂😂
O. C.
Not bad, typical spoons, doesn't break the bank!
V. S.
Busy evening, super fast service. Good food and reasonable price.
J. M.
Typical Weatherspoons. Very busy & staff trying to serve a high amount of customers. A step up from our local Weatherspoons. At least you get served before you give up waiting & leave
C. H.
Amazing Weatherspoon pub...the best in St Austell..warm, cosey and great value and bit of a hidden gem..you will need to ask the locals where this is as it's hidden up a street corner..blink and you might miss it .
G. E.
Roomy pub, with nice choice of beers and good value food . Have been a few times here, can be slightly on the cold side sometimes . Not over keen on the distracting television screens.
D. P.
Lovely pub but when I visited the kitchen was shut due to a fault
C. W.
Good food, great prices, payed £1.50 for a coffee, unlimited refills lovely.....
G. F.
Very popular place
N. V.
Love the atmosphere...Heineken...lush..always supreme quality...just wished they brought back Saturday evening DJ...otherwise..it.'ll be 5 stars from.me
T. M.
Today we visited truro and called in at try dowr the local wetherspoon pub it was our thirld visit after we had first visited eleven years. we found it just as wonderful as we did on our second visit four years ago We will come to cornwall a lot sooner the next time as we did not want to leave it and enjoy such a wonderful wetherspoon pub.
J. H.
Wonderful food and drink at affordable prices that's why it's always so busy
S. C.
A bit dark and dingy and tables not particularly clean but food was good.
C.
Nice wetherspoons polite staff, would go again if I was ever in the area again.
S. W.
Could be cleaner. But food was good and small outside seating.
J. H.
Service brilliant, staff were very friendly drink was fine however Gammon was overcooked. COVID compliant
S. S.
The food is as you would expect from a wetherspoons, cheap but fine. The wait times at night are way too long and its often too crowded to sit anywhere.
T. J.
Standard wetherspoons experience
P. G. P.
Affordable, bustling, and lively bar and eating place in the heart of Truro. Perfect place to grab an all day breakfast and your favorite tipple
A. F.
I'm there every Friday night brilliant staff could do will more staff behind the bar Friday nights and Saturday nights there's never enough.
K. S.
Staff were great, very chatty at the bar. The food wasn't as good as Falmouth Spoons, but still enjoyable.
D. B.
Quick service, well staffed. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Over all a good experience.
S. B.
Great food and friendly and quick service.
M. E.
Breakfast here is always spot on.
Always served quickly and always very good on price.
Friendly service
P.
fast breakfast service.. and usual great wetherspoons prices
J. D.
Efficient, friendly and covid safe. Service good and food exactly as expected
C. L.
Friendly and swift service for breakfast.
Watched the staff be welcoming and friendly to local older folks which was great to see.
p. p.
Typical Spoons. Steak was a bit of a chew but the double G n T made up for it.
P. S.
Excellent meal staff very friendly and the restaurant was spotless.
