Reviews of The Lower Angel
B. R.
A proper old school pub that has somehow escaped redevelopment. Friendly, quirky, and reasonably priced. Just sat here enjoying a decent pint for £3.00 and there is a mild for £2.80. Astonishing for a town centre. Not a place to go if you dislike ‘colourful’ language though.
M. W.
Very old pub, just needs Abit of a makeover, top bar staff and great beer!!
G. S.
Last remaining "proper" pub in Warrington, much improved since recent Liverpool Brewing Co. takeover. With good quality cask ales
j. r.
Great little boozer in the centre of town. Always have a good selection of guest ales on. Especially stouts or porters.
K. J.
Fantastic choice of beer run by the Liverpool brewing company.
N. C.

P. M.
Small, old local Pub. Seemed to be mainly locals when I visited late Sunday afternoon. Friendly barperson. Some tables and benches on the street - not sure there is more.Worth a visit.

Proper pub, a rare breed these days. Traditional range of beers, ciders etc, 2 rooms. Reasonably busy when we went, Friday Eve. Plenty of bar space if you prefer standing, and seating. Quick service.
A.
Real Ale pub 😄
Now dog friendly again but was charged £16 for 1 pint on my card 😠 If you ever use a card there or elsewhere, ask to see the amount on the card machine screen as it's too easy to be robbed!
g. p.
Lovely pub and the staff are so nice and welcoming xx
M. E.
***** for top quality cask ale. a great old pub.
N. O.
A proper pub in a sea of sameness. If you want a good, varied choice of beers, that are well looked after, served by fantastic hosts then pop into the Angel. You won't be disappointed with the drinks or the welcome.
J. M.
Great selection of craft beers at a reasonable price, also one of the few traditional pub's left. Landlord that actually speaks to his customers and gives you info on the brew's.
A. G.
Lovely little tradition friendly pub
J. B.
If you are looking for a basic old fashioned pub step through the door and go back in time,no frills just excellent staff very friendly , great beer.👍.
B. B.

A. W.
Very friendly place with excellent selection of real ales.
M. S.
A recent change of ownership but still a welcoming traditional town centre pub. Always a good range of Real Ales. Well worth a visit.
S. C.
Long-established and popular pub on edge of the town centre, attracting visitors on account of its rotating range of real ales from breweries the length and breadth of the country.
A. C.
Awesome real ale selection, and an amazing atmosphere. This is what pubs used to be like. The decor is far from amazing, but that does actually add to it. Brilliant landlord, and friendly regulars... How often do you here that in this day and age? 😊
D. T.
Excellent traditional pub. Where else can you buy Weetwood Best Bitter on top form for a reasonable price!? Great community asset.
M. B.
Small and cozy pub, good beer, and great staff.
W. I.

A real Gem, put your phone away and talk to people.. some very interesting people drink here.. fingers crossed they can find a new Manager and it stays the same.
B. C.
Great old pub in Warrington Town centre. Friendly staff behind the bar, reasonable prices. A mixture of young and old clientele, mostly the latter, but a nice atmosphere. Good place for a mid shopping break.
A. B.
If there is a more "old man" pub in the world, I've not seen it. It's beautiful. Real ale takes pride of place and my dad and his mates think it's the best pub in Warrington. My dad not young.
P. B.
Cheap and cheerful pub, this is what pubs should be like no poncy gimmicks.
M. M.
Cracking pub with a traditional, homely atmosphere and welcome. Two rooms decorated in traditional style yet, at times quirkily festooned with bizarre artefacts. Great range of cask ales at no nonsense prices. Recommended.
D. G.
Excellent landlords friendly punters and relaxing no frills pub how they should be my fave drinking ho😁
J. W.
Very traditional town pub with excellent choice of beer which is always kept well. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Popular with local and away rugby league fans.
P. S.
The only place in the town centre of warrington, that you get quality pint, unless it last one in the barrel. The guys who run it, know there stuff, so don't be afraid too ask about the whiskeys and ales
D. W.
very friendly place good atmosphere and nice drinks at reasonable prices
j. v.
It is the best traditional pub in town, always has been. Excellent cask ales. great staff and some wonderful regulars. Truly atmospheric. If you prefer a Wetherspoons style, or a kiddie pub, don't bother, you'd just spoil the place
B. S.
Had a pint of excellent bitter today for just £2.50! Proper town pub, unpretentious (ok slightly run down rather than deliberately shabby chic). Very good, friendly service. Will definitely pop in again on my next trip to Warrington.
C. H.
Top quality pub. Great beer selection at fantastic prices. Lovely, small but beautifully furnished court yard beer garden. Brilliant enthusiastic landlords. A true classic
I. B.
Under new management, great to see it reopened after a period of closure
Place to go if you like real ale 🍺
E. A.
Great selection of real ales, very traditional pub unchanged by the many years that have gone by. The only downside is no WiFi which is probably how they want it, but does keep me from visiting as much as I'd like
D. G.

Poor decor but so what! This is a real ale drinkers pub so the surroundings matter less than the quality and variety of the beers, which are excellent.
