We had a mulled cider and a hot chocolate along with the Steak nd Ale pie and the Chicken and Mushroom Pie and everything was delicious. The service was impeccable, spot on and very attentive. *Meant to take pictures of the food but it smelled so good we tucked in immediately*

Friendly place, including allowing me to take my spaniel in with me. Lovely real fire which was excellent on a cold November day. Just been in again with friends and once again very friendly. Food was excellent. My friend described his pie as the best he has ever had in a pub?

Gave this a try for a meal with my wife. A nice place, with very friendly staff, in a small village. Chef was off sick, so food took a little longer than expected, but not too long. Food was spot on, and I can see why the chicken pie has won awards. Plenty of choice on what to drink if that's what you need. It even has a beer garden to the rear.

What a fantastic land lady…. I was at a family festival at Arley hall and the cash machines were broke and none of the vendors would take card payment as the signal was bad….. so with a frustrated wife and kids i had to drive to stockton heath to find a cash point…. Decided to call in on the off chance theu did cash back…. The land lady very kindly let me get a pint and £100 cash back then a pack of crisp and another £100 cash back.. supper star and saves the day Thank you and will call in on out way back for a pint and some food

I eat at the Thorn every time I come to work at the Geronimo Festival at Arley Hall. The staff are very friendly and the food and beer is always excellent. There's a huge number of options for veggies and vegans. Tonight there was one poor girl working in the kitchen, but she's coped amazingly and the food all tasted lovely and home made. The new menu since they changed to Greene King is very good. Well done to all the staff. Excellent as always! 😀👍

Fantastic local pub with great service. Food is pretty standard as you would expect from Greene King. It was very busy today however Michelle and Judy ensured our party was well looked after and food arrived swiftly.

Really great pub. Love going here for our girls lunches. Michelle served us and was really friendly and accommodating. We are vegans and it has a vegetarian/ vegan options menu with alot of great choices. The vegan peach Tarte tatin was out of this world! Definitely recommend .

Lovely pub, has so much potential and good friendly atmosphere. We also enjoy bringing our dog. However the food has gone so down hill and really lets the place down. Will return as is our local and we love getting a few drinks but will probably never order anything other than a sandwich again:(( very sad to say the least.

Lovely pub, the meal was faultless, there was a fair wait for the mains and also the desserts but this may be down to staff shortage and the carpark was busy. Only noticed 3 staff running around after everyone! The meal was worth the wait!

My parents came for lunch with my cousin on Wednesday 19th May. Their first meal out in over a year. At 92 and 88 they have missed seeing so many family and friends during lockdown so this was a real treat. The staff could not have been more attentive to them. They had a wonderful meal and were made to feel so special. They were even given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to celebrate their first trip out. Wonderful service. Lovely pub with a warm friendly welcome. Great menu and the food is delicious. The price was also affordable. Vegan menu is also available. This was a gem of a find on a drive out. I will certainly be returning to enjoy the food, atmosphere and warm friendly welcome. This place is also dog friendly so your four legged friends don't miss out. Great place and a definite 5*+.

It's a mixed review really. I've been here twice. The first time the food was good and the a staff was good. Prompt service etc. This latest visit was, as expected good service and friendly staff. The problem was the good. It was a Sunday evening and we ordered fish and chips. I think the oil was stale or perhaps due to prolonged use had turned bitter.

We had our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration family meal here last week and the staff pulled all the stops out to make our evening special. Thank you guys you did us proud. 2 vegetarians and 2 non vegetarians were served excellent food and the deserts were wonderful. Staff were attentive but just right so not too intrude.

Just stopped in this quaint village pub whilst driving through. Decided to have some lunch with my partner Anna we decided on a couple of pizzas and they were really lovely beautiful authentic base and mounds of succulent toppings really really tasty and piping hot. We then finished off with sticky toffee pudding,and custard for me and chocolate fudge cake and ice cream for Anna. Mmmmmmmm will definitely return again soon.

I have been 3 times for Sunday lunch and each time, the staff have been cheery, helpful and professional. We have had the roast dinner and the last time I had the slow cooked ribeye, Really tasty. We have always been really happy with our food and service, I would recommend the Thorn xc

The pub itself is nice, as was the service, but the food doesn't live up to the description or price tag. The steaks all came out overcooked, it was largely lukewarm, and the salad was limp and unexciting. Won't be returning in a hurry, unfortunately.

Lovely traditional village Inn. Tragically now owned by yet another big chain conglomerate, who despite all actually seem to be doing their level best to provide everything for all of the people, all of the time. Food is really quite good and reasonably priced. Just wished the focus was more on remaining a village Inn rather than trying to be a restaurant at the expense of the loyal locals who just want a beer and a chat. Mercifully though, no background "Moron Music' to put the tin hat on it.
