With Watford being home to Wetherspoons Head Office you would expect The Moon Under The Water to be a flagship pub, sadly not. 9:30 on a Saturday morning and two of the Real Ales on show had run, someone not doing their job properly. As always the toilets are upstairs, it would have been nice if they had put a notice at the bottom of the staircase to say the Gents was out of order and so saving on the trip upstairs to then come back down to use the Disabled toilet.

Pleasant atmosphere and nice food. We ventured here for breakfast one morning before getting our train home. The atmosphere was pleasant, early morning so it was quiet just a handful of people. The bar staff were really nice. Polite. Our food arrived in less than 5 minutes of ordering. Bacon was a little on the crispier side than I like it but I still enjoyed my breakfast as a whole. All cooked well and served hot. My wife's vegetarian option was also cooked well and served hot. The whole pub was clean and seem to be well looked after. It is your standard breakfast menu and nothing really wrong with that. Just what you want before a journey home.

Good range of food and drinks to be had. A great place to stop by after work/shopping or catch up with friends and family. Toilets are up a flight of stairs. Tables, hand rails and seating needs a thorough restoring and clean up. It can get really busy and rowdy during the evenings and weekends hence the bouncers

For a good atmosphere, very nice ales (including Doombar) still at low cost compared to London prices it's more like half price, Lovely staff who serve food and drink, (very quickly) and are very hard working. The food is very good and still at fair prices. A great place to meet friends over a few beers and enjoy some decent pub grub without having to take out a second mortgage!. As Spoons go, this one is an absolute unit. Apparently this was going to be the terminus of the metropolitan line before they cut it back, so the plot goes back quite a long way. My chips arrived before I’d even got back to the table after ordering at the bar. Decent real ale selection at time of visiting, and the quality of what I had was great.

Cmon people you know it's a Moons pub! You can't expect cordon bleu menu & first class service! I admit I have had some dodgy food in other Moons but not this one! Usually reasonable food & service at rock-bottom prices. You really can't expect anymore than that! This visit I had reasonable food & beer gor next to nothing! If you want more find somewhere at twice the price!

Its a nice standard wetherspoons. There are some nice booths dotted around and a smoking area out back and even a couple of fireplaces dotted around. Service is fairly good although can be slow when the pub is very busy.

Alright pub but I got told off for resting my leg with my shoe touching a chair. 1: I have a disability, my leg locked, I needed to rest my leg 2: It's Watford. Worst things are going to touch these chairs. Half the pub probably has syphilis like, come on Other than that, it's pretty decent

My favorite place for breakfast and dinner. Really delicious food at reasonable prices. Traditional breakfast is only 4 gbp, portage 2 pounds. We had the large mixed grill for 10 gbp - plenty of good meat, a pizza pepperoni for 7 gbp. Full dinner for 2 adults and a kid with 2 beers less than 30 gbp. Have in mind, Between 8-11:30am only breakfast is served. Second, Friday night was very busy and they don’t allow kids to stay after 9pm.

I have visited here a few times. This is a typical JD Wetherspoons pub. This is a very large pub with a nice, clean dining area at the far end. The menu gives you plenty of options here and everything is very good value for money. There are a good number of drinks available on tap. I will come back when I am next in the area.

I like this traditional pub. It has an area for everyone plus great food choices, great service and a wide choice of beverages. I didn't partake in the curry club specials last night, but that is one of my favourite meal outs. I went for a link4growth meeting, which kept growing in numbers. The accommodating staff just kept bringing tables and chairs for us. The staff here has always been pleasant and friendly for as far back as remember this place. Moon Underwater is a great place to meet friends or sit quietly writing reviews or reading.

If not for the cheap prices I'd give it a lower review. Beer fine. Good selection and the best prices on the high street. Best selection for what it matters too. Food is a different story: Often under/over cooked and greasy. Had to pat fish and chips down with a napkin, then mop up the puddle of grease on my plate before eating tonight. Fish was much smaller than in the past, and it was tough and chewy - like rubber. I couldn't eat part of it. Some nights is acceptable but a bit of quality control is needed in the kitchen so a uniformly good product goes out the door. So for 6.90 I received a nice pint, decent chips, watery mushy peas and a greasy piece of rubbery fish. Not much more than just a pint on its own down the road so I can't moan too much, but...

I had an amazing experience visiting this pub. In fact, it's one of my favourite pub I must say. I was served by Dan, Greg and Nikki today. I must say they were friendly, attentive and committed to their job. I would highly recommended this three staffs. The food was delicious too. I visited them during the busy period of (euro 2016) game. Their service was still good and impeccable I must say. Well done guys !!!!

Came here after a meal for drinks and was very impressed with the service. We mainly used the app to order drinks to our table and they always came within 5 minutes. Facilities were all clean and the main room was large enough that you don't need to be too close to locals

Terrible service 55 minutes wait on our food and drinks order for four people ordered on the wetherspoons app. Then another 40 minute wait for a second round of drinks which were a pint of guiness, a coke and half a kobenburg strawberry and lime. There were six staff at the bar not knowing what the hell to do with orders for food and drink piling up on their screens. No one managed them or took responsibility for organising them. They acted like they were on their first shift and didn't know what the hell to do. They acted like headless chickens. Simple organisation and prioritising simple straight forward orders first would of taken alot of stress from them but there was no management organisation with regards to staff standing about not knowing what the hell to do to minimise the mayhem. Several complaints were aired whilst I was there with my family for two hours.

The only place in Watford that I have been to that actually follows social distancing to the letter. Very clean and the staff where extremely helpful. Fantastic pub where the food always appears hot, fresh and full of flavour. You can now order and pay for your food by their app. You don't even have to go to the bar to order. Staff here are mostly helpful, polite and friendly. I've visited here several times and never had a complaint. Food arrives fairly prompt too. If you're in Watford and are looking for an average priced meal then this is your place. Plenty on tables towards the rear of the pub, don't be put off by the fact you can only see several tables as you walk in. Tables aren't usually sticky either so look and feel clean too.

Good pub, been coming for years. Would recommend it if your looking for a quiet night or somewhere to start a session. The waiting times can be a nightmare sometimes though as there will be a bunch of staff but only 2-3 serving.

Downside is some people can get quite loud (cheap beer) problem ignored by the bar staff. Children out of control (running around, shouting, screaming) problem ignored by bar staff. This behaviour spoils it for a lot of pub goers and as the law states children must be seated and having a meal and under supervision. This is not always the case.

I think these guys probably do the best pub food around. I've been frequenting wetherspoons since before I was legal to drink. They have a great food menu and are open to minors up until 9pm.
