Reviews of Ye Olde Talbot
h. g.
The food here is lovely the service is wonderful the staff are very friendly and professional.
I left a bag behind at breakfast time, in such a hurry to get to work. In the bag was a gift from my wife that I take everywhere with me, upon returning I enquired about the bag with no luck the evening staff could not find it. I was pretty upset with myself for losing it and headed to my room. Only to find it had been placed back in my room. Thank you.
J. C.
An unexpectedly amazing XMas Eve meal of meat pies & chips with family. Will definitely return on our next visit from The States. Thank you to the staff & crew - fantastic effort! Well played!
G. H.
We checked into the hotel and Christopher at the desk was incredibly helpful and welcoming to us and our dog. We later ate in the restaurant and he oversaw everything, I noticed him working away in the background making sure it was smoothly operating. When we came down for breakfast he immediately came over with a sausage for our dog! The whole team were professional and prompt. The hotel is undoubtedly due a little renovation, it’s tired and a little rough around the edges but looking past that it’s a great location, a good price and unbeatable service.

Stopped here for some food and to kill a couple of hours out of the cold. Cosy pub, nice atmosphere and hearty food. Staff really friendly and attentive, even though they said that they were short-staffed, you really wouldn't have noticed. Will return when in Worcester again.
C. P.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Brilliant menu with something for everyone.
M. “. D. L. F.
Lovely food and very quick service. Plenty of vegan options which for us is a plus and great kids menu with also vegan options including dessert 🙌
S. F.
Excellent food and drink. Very friendly staff who made us feel welcomed
S. G.
Last time I went it was table service only but app was easy to use. When I've been before I've not eaten but food looks good and reasonable prices.
Been back a few times now. Food is nice and quick service. Would recommend
k. t.
Lovely comfy pub, lovely staff , food amazing, I had ham egg, & chips .. lush.. ham was really thick.. Will definitely return 100% recommend 👌 x
R. G.
As always a great friendly service, one of my favourite places in town to eat and drink
C. D.
Had lunch here yesterday 28th November while shopping in Worcester and the food was delicious.
I ordered Steak (rare)and Chips, Steak was cooked to perfection.
Top marks to Chef.
Mrs D had honey roast ham and really enjoyed her meal.
Service was excellent and meals arrived less than 10 mins later. Will be paying another visit next time in Worcester City.
G.
Wonderful place to stay ,they were very busy due to the Christmas fayre but every member of staff we saw were extremely nice and nothing too much trouble ,room was great overlooking friar street, our fifth visit
c. s.
Very friendly staff and helpful, varied menu, all reasonably priced, freshly cooked and excellent, happy to recommend, be back soon,.
B. S.
Great pub, Sunday lunch was very nice & reasonably priced
K. A.
Staff are nice, the place is very cosy and the food is your average pub food.
R. S.
Wonderful friendly girl behind the bar went out of her way to assist us!
D. B.
The customer service is unreal, they've made me breakfast sandwiches as my job won't allow me to take advantage of breakfast. And when I asked if I could have an empty ice bucket that I could go purchase some and fill, and ended up with 2 fans (30°C) and a pot full of ice from the kitchen. Rooms are big enough and comfy beds. Shower is clean and works fine
G. S.
Really enjoyed the food. Well go back again
S. F.
A centrally located old hotel. Clean and tidy and reasonable priced for an overnight stay visiting Worcester
C. L.
First I have to mention the staff who were very helpful friendly and caring showing real understanding for my 4yr old granddaughter.
Secondly the food was very tasty and well presented with portions that even satisfied my husband.
We will be returning and would recommend the ye olde Talbot Hotel to all
B. C.
Stayed overnight here twice now, old-fashioned rooms, very spacious, spotlessly clean, lovely welcome. Pub fayre is good if you choose to eat there.
L. J.
Lovely little pub nice and friendly staff
A. R.
Love this pub usually stay here just dropped in for dinner this time as unfortunately succumbed to the cheap Travelodge never can get that charm though especially with the cathedral bells above and yes is dated but it's a Georgian pub and I would hate a revamp that's the charm. The rooms are clean the staff friendly and accommodating and the food very good great breakfast and steaks.
P. H.
Great lamb shoulder meal. Staff really attentive to our group of 10. Interior much brighter now.. . We had a great time
M. S.
What you expect from this chain, reasonably priced good food, Rooms comfortable and lovely staff. I had to leave early so couldn't have breakfast but the staff ensured I had a bacon butty for the road.
M. F.
Lovely pub on a very busy street, but one inside you don't really notice it.
Nice selection of beers etc and good menu choice with lovely food.
The manager is one in a million, he is one of the friendliest and nicest people I've ever met.
M. N.
Little bit dated but we knew that as we had stayed there before. Even so very clean and comfortable. However, the gentleman, sadly do not know his name, we dealt with was totally excellent and even changed our dinner number from 2 to 5. Meal was excellent. He could not do enough for us. Would certainly recommend. Few minutes we from cathedral and shops.
R. H.
Just a stones throw from the Cathedral. the hotel is comfortable and the staff warm and helpful. The Tudor house is just along from the hotel in Friar street.
M. S.
Exellent family pub Hotel good quality food
P. S.
Very nice pub open fireplace good food at a good price I can absolutely recommend it and dog friendly
S. N.
Service and food in the bar is all good and friendly
rooms could do with bit of work on but are clean
C. P.
We were welcomed straight off when we popped in to find out if the pub was dog friendly. When we came back for dinner we were welcomed, well our dog was more than us, and she got given a bowl of water. Food was excellent, it is a greene king pub so standard fodder but all really good and service was both spot on but friendly and certainly a place I would not hesitate to visit again.
M. W.
Very good room. Breakfast excellent. Staff pleasant and helpful.
R. D.
Had a meal at ye oldeTalbot today, really nice food. The staff was very nice and pleasant very professional. Will return very soon, wish I had space for desert.
R. T.
Nice well located hotel for ease of access to city centre, with lovely breakfast. (Table service due to Covid restrictions). Only complaint was our room number 8 being above a frequently used and very noisy door.
C. B.
Last minute booking, Chris on reception couldn't do enough for us, nice room, great food & lovely staff.
G. L.
First class .. friendly staff..got us a table when we hadn't booked.... nothing too much trouble... food came quickly and it was great....... good price good food
C. H.
They always look after their customers.
Beer is good and the food traditional and good quality.
T. O.
Very good meal roast pork it was top notch will be back again very soon
R. M.
Nice pub, plus San Miguel on tap 👌 Good spot by the Cathedral to sit and people watch.
Good to see them following Covid rules; they've got good measures and routines in place.
A. W.
Yeah decent, good halloumi fries and a nice selection of drinks. Maybe a little slow on service but a nice experience over all.
C. M.
This was a nice comfortable setting and the staff were mostly very helpful. The food was okay but not exceptional a bit pricey and sadly no saving in the VAT cut was passed on to us. The COVID secure measures in place were good with tables appropriately spread apart for social distancing.
L. T.
Very nice pub and Hotel rooms are lovely, spacious and very clean.
D. s.
Stayed here for business purposes and Nigel was a great host! Food was very fast to the table but good quality! Renae had service with a smile at the bar, overall would recommend if you are looking a mid city break.
H.
Stayed for one night on business, checked in easy and friendly receptionist. Rooms are simple and clean and fairly priced. Food was ya typical pub grub but high quality from the kitchen. Bar staff very helpful and locals are a laugh, they can spot my Northern Bolton accent a mile away :) 5*
B. I.
Nice atmosphere. Guy serving was polite and thorough although not quickest. Had burger and chips. Lovely burger but I not fan a skinny fries ( go cold really quick). Would of got 5 stars but few dirty tables.
A. C.
Lovely pub/hotel.
Rooms were spacious and decorated to compliment the style of the building.
Reception was straightforward and polite with everything explained in detail but without taking too long.
The breakfast included in the price of the room was superb, so much choice and plenty of everything. We were able to fill our bellies so we didn't need anything until dinner later that day
J. S.
The pub was really nice and friendly staff. Hotel was good. Stayed in one of the rooms in the old part of the building. Hair dryer, ironing facilities, tea and coffee facilities and TV. But bathroom is "tired" and would benefit from uplift. But the hotel is good value. Even give car park discount if parked in NCP next door. Location is close to main shops. Also plenty of good restaurants within 1 to 2 minutes walk.
P. P.
First time visiting this pub.
Best mulled wine ever, great atmosphere throughout. Pretty xmas decorations in every room & real fires so cosy! Didn't eat here today, but menus looked appetizing and will definitely be going back again soon for new year meal & more mulled wine
Staff were so friendly and welcoming
S. K.
Lovely staff. Food really good. Happy
N. B.
What a delight to be served by such friendly staff. I'm not a great fan of service given by bar staff but this has wowed me. All three bar staff gave me friendly service which I'm not used too from other bars.
A great pub atmosphere with excellent friendly and professional service from the bar staff.
R. C.
Very friendly & welcoming. Food is lovely and good value for money. Love the atmosphere in the pub. The rooms are basic, but comfortable with all the modern amenities eg phone, wifi and bathroom. Rooms always kept clean and tidy. Keep it up. Highly recommended.
D.
The room provision was good, despite a mix up. The staff were business like, not overly friendly or helpful, but got the job done. The room was large, but noise travels in the hotel so be aware of that. Breakfast was tasty, but they lacked soy milk or any vegan option apart from fruit which left one of the group hungry at breakfast. The vegetarian cooked breakfast was tasty though. Overall, would stay again but would bring ear plugs!
S. H.
Excellent food and service prime location and good atmosphere
H. S.
Went here to eat years ago and it was a lovely place, great food. Sadly came back today (16/8/18) and it was really lacking. The place looks old and a few actual cobwebs on furniture. We ordered a meal for 6 of us with no starters and waited...and waited...when the food came it wasn't worth it. The medium steak ordered was rare in the middle. The blue/black burger was bland. The mixed grill was variable at best. To be fair the staff serving were helpful but he looked tired and fed up himself. A disappointing return
S. H.
Spent the day Xmas shopping in Worcester, finished around 6pm thought why the rush so stayed for Dinner. Popped into the Ye Olde Talbot, service was great, friendly and relaxed. Food was amazing and the San Miguel went down very nicely too. Paid £24 for 2 mains with 2 sides and the drinks. Would recommend highly. Thank you.
D. K. e.
Understaffed, needs deep cleaning, tables were sticky glasses dirty
C. F.
Great pub, good atmosphere.
S. F.
The hotel was perfect in nearly every way, but we were in the top room, and had to climb lots of stairs. Our room had a tiny bathroom, where you had nowhere to put anything, was very claustaphobic! Other than that, breakfast was very good, and the beds and room were good, and location was fantastic.
A. B.
we will definitely go there if we are ever in Worcester. the food was so tasty and plentiful
L. F.
Great place to eat meet and drink
E. W.
We stayed here recently for the weekend. Food is amazing, staff were so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was incredible. Room was lovely and big. It just needs a little TLC but don't let that put you off. Located opposite the cathedral which was amazing. We love Worcester and have staged in a few hotels. This is the one we'll be going back to next year
W. B.
From the time we arrived, Nigel and his team were unbelievably friendly, professional and helpful. We are currently on a 36 day road trip and this place was by far our favorite . Great food, drinks and service. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A credit to Green King
r. b.
2 night stay here.. few issues with the room "4 poster room" was very hot as radiator was broken & couldn't be turned off, but was given fans and told it was due to be repaired.. Breakfast was lovely quality ingredients.... but we would like to thank "Brad & Chris" front of house.. for their hospitality looked after us, very attentive great job guys!.. so yes would stay here again.
Becky & dan..
J. F.
Nice food, and good choice on menu, but hotel and rooms need a good modern overhaul
H. G.
Stayed here a couple of times. Basic but clean and cosy rooms with adequate views. Nice bar downstairs serving the usual pub food, very tasty! Always reminds me of my Grandparents old farmhouse with the crooked ceilings and walls with all the passageways... definitely has character. Staff helpful.
C. H.
Really comfortable room. The bed is the best I have ever slept in and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. Shower is super powerful and piping hot. Convenient for city centre. High street is a couple of minutes walk.
J. T.
Great pies on the menu mean this will always be a favourite but the food was supplemented by excellent service and good beer.
J. D.
Great staff, service and amazing food. Will be visiting again soon!
B. W.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The cold tap in the room came out as warm unless you ran for a good few minutes. The food in the restaurant was ok, although the steak that should have been medium rare came out as well done.
Y. P.
Brilliant social distancing. Walk past this place all the time but decide to go in. Food was 5*. Best meal we've eaten post covid lockdown. Service was just as good.
r. p.
Stayed there several times. A very central location. Food is good at breakfast and evening. Staff are helpful and friendly. Lots of stairs.
M. D.
Food was really good at a reasonable price, service from Lorna was impeccable
G. T.
Nice olde world pub nice menu
D. P.
Room was a bit dated and outer glazing did not close properly, secondary glazing worked though and did block noise. courtyard gates weren't locked overnight as advised so slightly worried about security. Breakfast buffet was okay and cooked breakfast was pleasant. For a cheapish stay was happy overall

Looking a bit dated.
Rooms noisey if you're above the high street
Parking is £8 a night in the multi story next door.
Overall - I think for what you pay, it's fantastic and great value for money. I've read other reviews and find them unfair if you balance what you pay to what you get. I would happily stay again.
P. H.
Stayed here for a long weekend, primarily because of its proximity to the Cathedral. Gave us a ground floor room as requested. On arrival, the manager had just started a 24hour sponsored personal silence, sponsoring Macmillan Nurses.
Small numbers of staff, all of whom were very friendly and helpful. Decent sized menu, and bar, obviously popular with the locals and guests.
Accommodation is rather tired, and could do with some DIY. Food and service are both of good quality. The hotel is surrounded by double yellow lines, and subsidised parking is available in the adjacent NCP multi storey, which works out at approx
£8.50 per 24 hours, rather than the standard £13.00.
Breakfast is served 8-10 everyday, but they kindly agreed to serve from 7.30 on Sunday for our convenience. They are used to hosting choir parties visiting to sing weekend services at the Cathedral, for such were we.
We will happily stay here on any return visits.
S. H.
One of my favourite pubs in Worcester! Cosy, decent ales, friendly atomosphere. And you can stay if you've had to many in their guest rooms!
K. K.
Have to admit not a fan. Dont get me wrong there is nothing actually bad about the pub, it just reminds me too much of a 1980s theme pub. Its friendly enough. Cheap food and a good range of beers.
H. W.
Central location and to an extent olde worlde charm. Which means the building is totally unable to handle the recent hot weather and keep people cool. I'm sure our double bed (4 poster) wasn't full size. Very noisy outside through the night. Room not made up one day and defective light bulb not replaced. No shower gel provided. Food is pretty average and they stopped serving dinner earlier than they advertise on the menu. It's kind of OK for a couple of nights stay if you're not expecting much and just want a base with a bar.
S. C.
Food was great was clean and the was lots of covid measures in place staff where helpful but the food did take 40 min to come out but it was well worth the wait all cooked fresh
i. G.
Amazing place. Been coming here for years, and everytime I come in i feel at home.
I must admit you're shaping up the Talbot and making it look a lot better!
Love from one of your regulars!

Food was good and very good value. Service was excellent and very covid secure. Not much beer choice!
P. K.
Wonderful staff - very friendly!
Amazing english breakfast and great meal deals in the evening.
Perfect location, right in the heart of Worcester.
Facilities could be better though.
c. k.
Fabulous few days in this warm welcoming hotel.Comfortable bed,Hot power shower or bath .kettle with tea coffee milk and shortbread. The room was very clean and fresh with windows that open to cool the room down if required.Breakfast was one of the best selections I have had and included in the Room price.i had a few pints of Guinness at the bar which could get busy at times, food also being served .Thanks to all staff members and the manager for first class service.
E. H.
Great hotel, staff were helpful, friendly and professional. Restaurant well worth a visit, food an service exceptional, good breakfast selections and good value if you just want to pop on for breakfast. Definitely will stay here again.
R.
Cheap price..great location.
Unfortunately the sewage was backing up and caused bad smell from the toilet. Nowt staff can do but call engineers, also room 10 tv didn't work as signal poor. Mentioned both on check out and only disappointing thing for me was no mention of any sort of 'sorry but here is a discount' or alike.
D. F.
Fantastic meal, thank you for fitting the extra person in at the last minute into the Christmas meal. Food was amazing and the main server was so polite and welcoming. Nicest meal experience I've had. Highly recommended.
R.
Very comfy stay. Room is quirky but comfortable. Toilet sounded like a it would take you down it. Breakfast was great. Also no free parking but would definetly recommend it!
A. D.
Nice place, good location in the centre of Worcester. Easy access from the motorway, cheapish car park next door (£8 for 24hrs after using the hotel discount), good breakfast and beer. Quiet overnight.
R. W.
Checking in waited for ten minutes, room was dark and dirty, carpets was not hovered, and then checking out the manager looked like was rude and didnt even ask how the stay was. its behond be how manager can carry on a conversation with someone as hes checking us out
K.
The food is very reasonably priced but not great quality. The steak was very fatty and the pepper sauce was more like gravy. The place has a fantastic atmosphere and great service, just need to tweak the food and it will be perfect!
M. R.
Good quality pub with good service. Abbott ale is available which is always a plus!
B. K.
People very friendly clean but tired looking I would come again
C. S.
Lovely friendly staff .Excellent food definitely come back.
L. P.
We arrived for Sunday lunch with a party of 9. We were seated immediately, even though we had not pre booked. The menu was diverse, service was prompt and food was very tasty.
j. l.
Really enjoyed my stay. Lovely staff and a central location and the food was excellent. Accommodation needs a makeover but all in all an excellent budget hotel.
J. W.
Ideally placed next to Cathedral, comfy, affordable rooms. Pleasant staff, great range of drinks and a good menu. Breakfast if you are staying over is superb!
S. B.
This is always a good pub to visit if in Worcester, haven't eaten here yet but service is good for drinks and we always call in for at least one drink when we visit the city as very friendly staff and nice atmosphere
N. F.
We had lunch. £6 for a cheese and ham sandwich, they didn't even butter the bread and the chutney came separately. It looked very disappointing but tasted nice.
P. B.
Excellent Gluten Free menu 👌
J. D.
Great food. Great staff who go the extra mile to make sure that you have a great time. Wonderful weekend. Thanks again Nigel
J. L.
Decent pub need more veg options
s. p.
Very good fishn chips excellent good service
A. E.
Really nice pub with good beers and a wide selection of food. The fish and chips on Fridays is great and the Sunday lunch is top notch.
C. R.
Lovely hotel and great food. Bit of a noise in the restaurant, think it was the fans from the kitchen. Didn't have any fish and chips so went for the pie and it was great.
Is stay there again.
J. T.
Really liked the bedding/bed and the water pressure of the shower. No remote for the TV though. Nice selection of foods to choose from for breakfast. Friendly staff. Would stay here again.
J.
Great pub with good atmosphere and food
R. P.
The foods good a little pricey but as long as u don't mind the fact it's in need of a refurb, oh yeah and ur not disabled or on the big side as u can't go to the loo, ( the loos are very small & no disabled toilet or a offer of using thier hotel loo or a appology) 😬
M. P.
Tasty food and nice staff
J. P.
We had 2 good meals at the Talbot but the fish that was used instead of cod on our third meal was tasteless, more batter than fis and overcooked.
M. B.
Hotel was excellent. Great service, with a really pleasant room and a great nights sleep. Breakfast had plenty of choice and tasted great. Would definitely stay there again.
S. D.
Stayed here for the night lovely place and friendly staff really nice old quirky building with a lot of character great night's sleep the bar is nice serves a great pint and the food is excellent esp the breakfast menu really good selection for Hot and Cold and staff can't do enough for you very friendly and helpful will 100% stay again
K. S.
Ye Olde Talbot is a nice pub for a quiet lunchtime drink, with a small beer garden to the rear. Never spent an evening there, or eaten the food, but I've heard it's alright.
Y. 1.
We have been ferrying passengers to and from the hotel, staff are wonderful, always let the customers know when the taxi is outside, saves us going in and waiting around, Staff are very courteous and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Worcester.
L. W.
What a gem 0.4 of a mile from canal basin food and service was brilliant cant praise the quality of food and service enough totally exceeded my expectations well done.
s. b. o. b.
Great location near the shops and restaurants, staff very friendly very good breakfast lots of choices, carpark next door discounts for parking overnight.
C.
Very accommodating to us and our husky team! Who thoroughly enjoyed their roast chicken and mash! Thanks
J. H.
A decent sized pub with friendly staff that sells a good pint. close to restaurants and a cinema. Worth a stop into town or a final drink before home.
K. P.
Amazing staff, food, service and atmosphere
H. C.
The facilities are good, and generally we had a good stay. But the window in our room wouldn't close properly and it was very noisy outside the room. Generally pretty good.
F. D.
On a very busy night sat in back room which was also full and service was excellent, meals were good and served quite quickly and drinks served really fast too great service.
M. C.
Very pleasant hotel, with a great, central location. My room was clean and nicely presented and the bar and restaurant facilities were also good. Breakfast was also very nice.
C.
Great food and service from a friendly pub. See you after the new lockdown. 😋😷

Great food+drink and amazing service!
R. S.
We only popped in for a quick drink whilst passing but the bar and outside area were lovely, the staff friendly and the beer was wet and satisfying:)
G. T.
Friendly, warm, welcoming atmosphere would return on our next visit, reasonably priced meals.
K. B.
The food was really good and the waiter was a laugh. Table was slightly cramped for a booking for 6, but the food was tasty with reasonable portion sizes.
L. S.
Great Service
M. G.
OK pub used to be better when there was plenty of live music. Haven't been there for a while so I don't know what is going on at the moment

The service standards were low, but the place itself was nice enough
