Staff were really friendly and coping well with a place under new management. It was the night of an England match so very busy. The place is awesome outside, quite modern ( but not overly so) Nd comfortable inside. It's probably the only proper pub near the front. No food then but plenty of places nearby.

My partner and I were looking for somewhere to eat. We came across this lovely pub and as soon as we stepped inside we knew it was going to be very good. My partner really enjoyed her jacket potato and I equally really enjoyed my cod and chips. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a friendly pub with good food. Also the Guinness is excellent. Looking forward to our next visit.

Visited for a family birthday meal and drinks and we were made to feel really welcome and at home. Fantastic traditional homemade food with generous portion sizes at really reasonable prices; even the drinks were well priced. All accompanied by absolutely outstanding service - I can't honestly say that I've had better service at any other pub, restaurant or bar I've been to. In a word, faultless.

Would highly recommend for Christmas Dinner. Have just had our first experience of Christmas Dinner here and it was exceptional. Good value, plenty to eat and all freshly cooked. Thank you and well done to all the staff who gave up their Christmas Day to accommodate everyone. Lovely atmosphere, prompt and friendly service without feeling rushed. We shall definitely be back again next year.

This is a great pub. Only reason not 5 stars now as no longer serving food (which was always excellent).

Second visit and food excellent again. Recommend either the pork in a cream sauce, the fish pie or either of two lamb dishes. All came with good selection of perfectly cooked veg. Decent size portions and good value for money. Booking recommend. We will be going back again!

We stayed (1-3 July ). Hi. I’m Martin , I don’t come from the area but this pub is so wonderful considering this horrid pandemic. Very professional and COVID-19 rules 100% in place . So loving staff and the locals make you feel at home . Love that place Martin 🐕

Fantastic food , we actually just went in to get out of the rain the bar area is quite large and a little dark in areas we went into the table service restaurant area almost all the tables were reserved but they did a bit of moving about to get us in . It wasnt even 12 noon and people were coming in we ordered our food there was a nice menu of the normal pub grub and a specials on the board including roasts curry ect it was all home made . I had one of the best cooked fish and chips I had ever had . If you do intend to visit I would definitely call and book . It was also surprising very reasonably priced !

Stumbled upon this after the shops had closed and was happy to find a good, old-fashioned pub, frequented by locals. The landlady welcomed us and although it was a lively bank holiday Sunday, we found a table away from the DJ but could still hear the music. It felt nostalgic to be in a 'proper' pub (I've nothing against gastro-pubs mind you) and just sitting there with a pint and good company is a great way to unwind!

Food is good but if you are in a large group I would consider going elsewhere. We booked a table for about 20 people and originally the seating was at separate tables. We reshuffled into a longer table which was a very tight squeeze. If anyone needs the loo half the table have to get up. It's very warm and no air circulation and we can't open a door due to other guests being chilly and we can't open any windows. Some of our group are so warm the only option is to stand up next to the door, so desert will be a miss for them. There's also no music which for me personally is a downside. Other than that the staff are friendly and coping with the group well, and the food was tasty, just a shame it's so stuffy inside. Worth a visit but take a smaller a group

I went here last week with a small group of friends. We ate and drank and had a good time. It serves Harvey's bitter, so it's gotta be good! It's more traditional ye olde english pub and could do with a bit of revamp, but it's clean and friendly. What more would you want? Bonjour, just enjoyed a lovely Sunday repast at the Rose and Crown. Opted for the roast pork dinner and I wasn't disappointed. All the ingredients were well cooked and plenty of them. All the roasts are under a tenner with other options proving as popular. Missed out on the lamb stew with dumplings. Friendly, professional staff enhanced the atmosphere. While you are there, have a punt at the raffle. Plenty of prizes on offer. The main one being a 'deal or no deal' combo with the potential to win hundreds. A busy place with booking advised. Quality!
