Lovely place. Clean, friendly and superb food. We (group of four people) enjoyed it so much we ate there two nights in a row. If ever in the area again we will certainly be back. I would highly recommend a visit to the Highwayman Inn.

Recently stayed in the village for a few days and visited the pub a few times with the Mrs. Ate on one evening too. Food was lovely. All the staff were friendly and the locals made us feel at home when having a few games of pool.

We usually treat ourselves to a meal out once , sometimes twice a week at most , and The Highwayman always comes up high on our list. Firstly , Sue behind the bar makes us feel so welcome and we immediately begin to feel relaxed and ready to enjoy a truly home cooked ,tasty meal. We are not disappointed. Lovely little pub,we where staying locally and called the pub to see if the could accommodate us at short notice after reading reviews on trip advisor,young girl booked 3 of us in for 6pm,the Resturant is very friendly and welcoming with very reasonable prices,wife had surf and turf and I had the chicken in garlic with hand cut chips and veg,large portions one of the best meals we have have had for a while Will drive back next week when we go back to york to try something else At must visit

First class! Really nice garden with ordering at table. Only one member of staff taking orders but she was very efficient and dealt with everyone there very effectively, leaving no one unattended. I had the Haddock and Chips which was a delight. The batter was a thin coating which worked really well as so many can be oily. All washed down with a nice pint of Theakstons Best. Looking forward to returning.

Nice pub , arrived for tea with the Mrs , quick and attentive service , good choice of starters and Mains , good portion sizes , chips done like my mum did them in the 70's! I had steak pie which was , again , old school and with lovely meat and pastry , Mrs had Scampi, which she approved. Couple of drinks , less than £50 quid. Wanted a nice tea and got one nuff said 🙂

Having a break away in Yorkshire the local is the Highwayman. Its a lovely pub very welcoming big fire and attentive friendly staff. Warning the food is fantastic undo belts before entry.

Decent pub and mostly friendly people. Couple of dyed blonde old women growling and gossiping about everyone when you walk in are al little off putting to the novice pub goer but by to me, that just adds to the charm of this old pub. Situated at a crossroads, it is in a great place and has one of the best beer gardens around. Food always good and the staff are sound, well worth a visit.

Service is very slow. Lots of young waiting staff chatting in the kitchen but not actually doing anything. Food was good when it arrived. Prices are fair but be prepared for a long wait even when they are not busy.

Lovely village pub with lovely real ales, the food looks absolutely amazing however I didn't sample this as I just ate earlier. This is a proper country pub with a warm welcome and a warm feel. With it being a nice evening we went into the beer garden and what a lovely beer garden it is tranquil and peaceful and very well looked after

We have just used the new takeaway service during lockdown. We ordered fish and chips twice, and scampi and Chips. All 3 of is agreed they were the best fish/scampi and chips we have ever had. It's great that they provide a 10 minute slot so no one is bumping into each other. Well done Highwayman, great food, great service.

Whilst staying locally I popped in for a pint later in the evening. All of the staff were very friendly and the landlord took time for a chat also! Took the family back for a drink and snack the next day! They are managing the current situation (COVID-19) well and still make you welcome! I would be very happy if this was my local!

This is a pleasant country pub we called in to for a drink when we were passing. Rather dull on entry inside. A large eating area and a bar. Pleasant staff behind the bar who acknowledged us on arrival. Drinks quite expensive. We sat in a large pleasant garden with several tables and umbrellas and a football goal for the kids. Really relaxing. This pub is centrally located on the main road in the village so you can't miss it. We look forward to coming at a later date to enjoy a meal or two.

. Went here for our Xmas lunch on Wednesday last week. The food was excellent, plentiful and served hot with lovely fresh vegetables. The serving staff were very pleasant and helpful as well. The only slight drawback was that the service was a bit slow but we were a large group so perhaps that was understandable.

My wife and I have been going to the Highwayman for over 20 years. If you remember as we do how fantastic it was all those years ago you will be pleased to hear the new owners have got the place back to how good it used to be. Fantastic home cooked food. Beer is well looked after Friendly happy staff Fab beer garden Cozy dining room with a real fire And a great bar where the owners have been careful not to upset the drinkers by keeping it a bar! Not fast food and all the better for it.

My parents in law live over the road and over the last few years we have been many times just because it's so close. We certainly wouldn't have travelled as there has been owner after owner and menu after menu and very below average food till now. Our visit was absolutely lovely, beautiful home made food, lovely wines and staff very attentive. Lisa and her husband have done a fantastic job turning this beautiful pub around, the decor is lovely and cosy, the bathrooms are brand spanking new and beautifully designed. 10/10!!
