Reviews of Hole In The Wall

Pop in for an Ale but we cannot deny how tempted of Sunday Roast here. Staff at the bar are so kind and asked if I'd like to taste few choices of pale ale before I decided. Honestly I like both Wrinwright 4.1% as well as Glover tower 4.3% but end up with 4 pints of the 4.3% plus double GT. In side was conservative style but nice and clean with comfortable chairs our table(14)just right by the window.
We had a large Sunday roast beef and extra with portion of clauriflower cheeses of course we finished with Chocolate fudged cake topped with vanilla ice cream. If you are in York this place is a must we couldn't highly recommended enough.
Try it for yourself because I think HOLE IN THE WALL is underated from our positive experience today.

After mooching around on a Sunday we thought it would be rude not to partake in a Sunday lunch
York is filled with some interesting old worldly pubs making it difficult to choose from. To narrow it down I searched for "Yorkshire pudding " and perused photos of pubs that showcased theirs. This led us here
Inside is like a cosy rabbit warren, loads of small rooms and comfy seated areas
The gent at the entrance was warm and welcoming and showed us where we could sit. Flicking through the menu I opted for the beef Sunday dinner with a giant Yorkshire for £12?
When it was served I was in awe, nice portions of perfectly cooked meat, sweet red cabbage, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, gravy jug with a massive Yorkshire.
Mine Yorkshire had not fully formed like my partners but it was still tasty and everything else was gorgeous.
Overall really good service, lovely setting and good quality food especially for the price. Yes I'd return.

Lovely experience in this oldy worldy pub. Food, drink and hospitality first class. Prices are good also. Toilets are upstairs so be aware any disabled people visiting

We came in for the live music show tonight. It was a lovely time. It's a quaint little pub right in the heart of York with a real medieval vibe. Staff were excellent and drinks selection was impressive.

Lunch today was excellent. Chicken fingers were a perfect choice and the beer was just right. Bar staff was very friendly and patient with two Americans. Highly recommend!

Roast Beef Yorkshire Pudding and Salmon specials were very good. Staff were helpful and efficient.

This is one of the best boozers in York. I come here every time I visit. It has a lot of history to it, a great atmosphere and decent grub. Staff are nice and there’s always some kind of feature night. Thursday is quiz night, which is my favourite. There’s also a fizz and steak nights. Chilled place to visit. Love it.

Had an amazing dinner here last night. Food was great and the yorkshire pudding was sensational.
Food very reasonably priced and had a massive menu.

Not being able to travel for nearly three years due to the pandemic, a lunch at the Hole in the Wall has been what we've missed the most. But now we're finally back in our favourite pub in York if not the entire UK. Good food, friendly staff and just the perfect authentic English pub experience. Definitely recommended a visit!
