We visited twice on Saturday, once in the morning and once in the evening and both times were busy but we managed to get a seat. A great selection of draught beers to choose from, although be wary that the 11 taps on each floor are different and if you want something from a particular list to have to order from that bar. We also ate here, steak pie was HUGE, packed full of meat and super tasty. Great feel to the place, friendly helpful staff, will definitely return.

Really amazing food. I'm vegetarian, and particularly partial to pickled and hot food, so their countryside platter was spot on for me. My daughter had the falafel burger, which was huge. Also great selection of beers on tap. We were all very pleasantly surprised. It's an ideal place for a hearty lunch.

Amazing selection of drinks and food! Easy to lose a few hours here. The staff are amazingly friendly and always willing to help you figure out which beer is best for you. Each floor has its own menu so I suggest exploring. They also have an impressive selection of gins.

Came in for a quick drink after a long day. Lots of strong and varied craft beers, ales, and ciders available. Quite a few have a strong percentage too. Very cool vibe inside, with lots of provocative artwork on the walls, even The Origin of the World in the men's bathroom! I had a Belgian amber ale and half of my friends cider. The ale was 8.4 percent so fairly strong but it went down well. The cider had a sour aftertaste, similar to the toxic waste sweets, so not unpleasant by any means. Good place to try out new drinks!

Excellent food and drink. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Pub is based in a restored Georgian Mansion House and is split over several floors. Highly recommend. Unusual display of artwork!

Fantastic and interesting boozer....Great staff, tasty beers on tap and a curious (in a good way) building. This is a must visit for anyone that likes a different beer or ipa other than what you would have in your local and bar snacks that are v tasty. Don't know about 5 stars....its 10/10 for me

Great spot for a craft beer. Staff are knowledgeable, beers are great and niche. Interior has different rooms with Victorian style decor. Also if it means anything Mad Alice recommended we come here and we definitely thank her for that.

Just brilliant!!! Quirky, incredible selection of ales and tapas - but be careful, in Spain tapas size portions need three for a meal - here you only need one! So many rooms to choose from and SO many entertaining touches! We’ll be back! 💃🕺

Awesome old building fitted out perfectly. Lost count of the different rooms in the place. I am sure it was on 4 floors! Really beautiful interior. The bar area does food and did feel more like a café than a bar but the staff were lovely. We sat outside in the seated area on Lendal. Perfect for people watching! The wooden benches could be a bit more comfy but I had enough Prosecco not to worry too much about that. Great place to visit in York!
