Great pub with a nice range of beers and a comfortable lounge bar with lots of board games. Would have happily spent an afternoon here.

A bit of an odd place , swathed with Black Sheep marketing yet they don't sell it , staff/ landlord was quite put out when asked about it ....as if I should have known ! No real alternative either , mainly blonde beer or IPA. Couple of drinks were ok , went for IPA , but can't say I would rush back , shame as it's local.

Nice pub just further out than most which gives it an average amount of foot traffic. Live music has just started out again when writing this review so don't have any opinions on that matter tho they do have bands on quite a lot. Conclusion, small pub with a good atmosphere and kind staff, lovely for a quite drink, or a loud one with the live music, definitely and overall classic pub 👍

I was fortunate enough to drop by this bar when I heard one of my friends was playing alongside the band booked for tonight (I believe it was Acko Pulco) Frankly, I'm impressed with the bar and the sound system was great as everything was crisp and clear at a reasonable volume level. Now that's a big deal! Loud enough to enjoy and groove to but just right to prevent severe hearing lost. Overall, a hell of a lot better than The White Horse that's for sure.

I've been using this pub for several years now, on and off as a tourist, and even though it reverted back to its original name from Tap & Spile a few years back is still very much the same pub, good range of well kept ales, well worth the short trip out of the centre of York.

Amazing atmosphere with its live music. The outside seating and standing area was accessible and comfortable. Drink pricing is in line with the area and there is a decent variety of snacks

Very friendly pub in a nice region. Heated smoking garden, blonde bartender lady with the glasses was beyond friendly in helping me decide what to order and offering a good conversation. Definitely recommend this place!
