Reviews of The Old White Swan
J. C.Lovely bar sit in or out.. We were in York for Step sons Graduation day. Popped in for a bite to eat before the drive home to Norwich. The food was ok. I enjoyed my burger although felt alittle more chips would have been even better. We all enjoyed our meals. Lovely open fire... Would love to visit again.
G. S.I had fish and chips a small portion which was huge but very delicious. Pub nice and had a good atmosphere staff efficient and friendly.
Only complaint was there was a bit of a draft coming through the window but I get this is what you get with old pubs. I should have chosen the table by the open fire
Overall had a lovely meal and enjoyed the evening .
C. D.The wife and I visited York 10 years ago from Tucson, Az. with some friends and we stopped into a pub for a quick drink. I loved the pub but couldn’t remember the name. Forward 10 years we came back because I fell in love with York and I spent 2 days walking into pubs because I knew when I walked in I would recognize it.
It was worth the search it was exactly what I had remembered. We had a wonderful Sunday roast and a great afternoon of drinks. The food was great as was the service. Make sure to ask for the history tour.
Thanks for being a great pub and making our journey to York even better then I could have hoped.

j. B.Good selection of real ales and craft beers, food quite good, especially the pies, unfortunately I ordered the steak and it was as tough as old boots. Would still go back though.

The food looked delicious, such a shame I didn't get to try any! The staff were very friendly and happy to discuss the ghosts even though they must get asked all the time. Well worth a visit!
S. I.Loved the building. The entrance area, with leather armchairs is great, especially for a social drink. Several other nice rooms are also nice, each unique, and there is a pretty courtyard, ideal for a warm day (and a dog). Also nice selection of beer, and nice light bite snacks. I do not live in York but intend returning to this pub, despite the good competition in the area.

Update...
Returned recently to a more relaxed environment with the family and dog. Great food , maybe a bit pricey for some but under£20 a person. Nice atmosphere and roaring real fires. Would definitely recommend for a meal with a pint.
H. B.Atmosphere and staff are great. Prices are ridiculous. £5.10 for a pint of cider and £7.50 for this pitiful meal. That can’t of cost more than £1 to make.
I. A. L.One of my favourite pubs in York! Old house with different rooms, nicely decorated with a traditional look. Each of them has a different vibe: live sports near the bar, cosy tables and armchairs by the fire, and a separate dining room for private functions.
It belongs to Nicholson's, and I have to say I really like that chain, the food is really tasty. Service is very good too! You can even order from your table with a QR code.
I really love this place :)
