Really smart bar. Great theme. Great dukebox. Staff seemed a little arrogant. Had a few games of pool. Enjoyed it, but come on staff. Be more friendly. A bar is nothing without its customers.

What an amazing place. The music is obviously brilliant, and it's not all Stone Roses. Lots and lots of vodka bottles on the wall ready to make lots of cocktails. If you are a fan of the Manchester music scene, the decor of this pub is for you. Definitely worth a visit.

Half decent pub with a decent atmosphere. My only gripe was the music. If you're going to call the pub The Stone Roses Bar then you've got to keep the music in keeping with the theme. There was dance tracks being played which weren't skipped and then when The Stereophonics came on the song was skipped. All in all it was alright but the rules of the jukebox need to really be upheld if you're wanting to attract people who like The Stone Roses.

Only stopped in for one as the music coming from here was right up my street. Definitely my kind of pub. Lots of pop art around the place all of which is rock themed. A big section of the pub was getting set up for live music, however we had prior commitments so had to leave before they started playing. Not a lot of seats, possibly because of the live music.

We came here when on a weekend away in Harrogate there was a bit of a queue to get in but was well worth it a must visit when in York. The atmosphere is good and the music is amazing will definitely return.

If you like the Stone Roses then your going to enjoy the music, live music cheap drinks and a good atmosphere. Located not far from the bridge at the river, nice friendly staff👍

You're not going here for the quality of the drinks, it's the music and atmosphere... Both of which can be a bit of a letdown. A couple of pool tables. Poor booze choices. Staff deal with a lot of people and are pretty much guaranteed customers, and their attitudes reflect that. I'm sure if you're lucky you could have a lot of fun here. Just don't rule out the chances of showing up, getting a naff pint while an unexpectedly dancey playlist jangles away in the background, and all the kitsch 90's pop art in the world can't make anybody want to stay for another drink.

Very busy place on a Saturday but the bouncers and bar staff usually look after their regulars, so it's often an easy process to get in and get on with your evening. Good to include in your York bar crawl, be polite and u will be looked after too.

Best pub in York by far. Should be considered a tourist attraction. Friendly staff, jukebox and pool table of a day (amongst other bar games like table football & a punching bag) they serve most drinks and also have lots of drink deals on along with student discount on some drinks. Nicely decorated and 2 stories tall. Gets very busy at night and sometimes plays live music. The perfect bar.

Great to visit for a part of your night out in york. Indie and rock music. Brilliant staff and door staff. Drink prices are fair. Vodka jelly is awesome (£1 per shot) other drinkers (like everywhere in york) seem like minded, friendly, up for a laugh. Perhaps a place for the younger drinkers... Been a few times now (don't live in york) but definitely will be back!

Love this place, if your into your “indie” music this is the place to be in a York. We visited quite late on a Saturday evening, really pleasant doormen that we’re very helpful. It’s was packed, wall to wall banging and to be honest probably too busy for us lol. Called in the following day and found it not quite so busy but still with a brilliant atmosphere, good pint and reasonably priced too. Duke box playing all the best indie music.

TLDR: A rise in spiking means I would take extra caution when visiting. Stone roses is a venue that should be getting more than three stars, it has a lively atmosphere with generally good music and well priced drinks. Unfortunately there seems to have been a rise in the number of spiking incidents at the venue. I'm aware this is likely not down to the venue staff and have seen that they are putting measures in place to try and counteract it but unfortunately I feel it still needs to be reflected in the rating. Increased spikings has a become a problem across all venues but from second hand experience stone roses seems to be pretty bad for it for whatever reason. I wish I was able to offer a solution but until then I hope the problem goes away and the bar is able to thrive in the future.

Music was Roses and Oasis music. Drinks served by very impressive track suit dress code. Environment was a lot of memorabilia! Ask for what drink deals they have as can be cheaper if in a group drinking same drinks. Red Stripe can x1 was £4.50, but buy x4 and £10.

Great atmosphere for people off all ages from students to people a little older. Drinks are fair value and even offer deals which save money making for good value on a night out. By day Stones welcomes family's but by 8 it switches to more of a party atmosphere not allowing children or tracksuit warrior's. All in all the britpop bops and cheap alcopops are not to be missed in this unique bar, offering gigs, pool and student benefits.

Good place for a Friday night out, sticky floors, massive bar queues and dirty are part of the Expirence that you get on a night out, especially towards the end of the week. Music choice is always spot on and there are some great deals for students inside; otherwise drinks are fairly prices regardless.

Loved it in here, back to back stone roses/ian brown tunes that i hadnt heard for a few years. Proper laid back atmosphere. Cracking pictures all over the walls of the stone roses, oasis etc. Had a cover band on last night who played some good indie stuff. Went during the day and had a game of pool and a drink, gave us a shot with the pints which is a nice touch. Went back in the evening and was busy with a good crowd. Deffo my favourite thing about York.

Reliving my teenage years down the pub without having to chuck endless nuggets into the jukebox. Prices were affordable. Selection not the greatest but I think the idea is not to be over fussy, get drunk and have fun. Crowd is younger than I expected but I suppose it's like going to "old school" music for some of them.
