Great range of pub food to choose from. The breakfast menu is good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese, bacon + sausage in a bun with 2 hash browns on the side, it was yummy! Recommended!

Amazing time and great turnout at the "Latin Booster" party last night at Yates; people from all over the world enyoing the warmth and rhythm of a real Latin party. Great venue and special thanks to Lewis from the Yates staff for the hospitality and support!

Pretty poor service and a bit pricy. There was no one behind the bar for about ten minutes when I first arrived, then one bar staff turned up and took a while to serve the people at the bar. A couple on a table next to us ordered some food and it took over 40 minutes to arrive - and there was not a lot of people in the bar. Not a great experience, we definitely won't be rushing back.

Nothing special about the pub itself.. set on the river I was hoping for better views ..had a window seat but can't really see much.. Food was nice .. but it was only fish and chips so not really stretching the chefs culinary skills

Very busy Saturday night . Que for the bar was unreal no lined ques everyone was pushing in. Definitely in need of more staff they all looked rushed off there feet . We had a couple of evening meals, and drinks here. All fine. I feel this pub is, great for young people. Loud music playing and there was a quiz one evening. Very loud and it seemed to take over, whether you were taking part or not. Would suggest a quieter area for people not wanting to hear the quiz as it is overpowering.

Everything is as you would expect from a Yates bar, location, staff, beer all good but the food is poor value for money. I bought four sides of chips for a group of 8 to pick at while having a few drinks and we barely got 3/4 chips each. I could have complained to the manager I suppose but decided instead to just buy food elsewhere in future.

Had a great night last Tuesday with some friends. Sammy, Amelia, and Harry were being trained and did very well! It's a chain so don't expect anything that unique; however catch it when it's quiet and you can get good service, nice, reasonably priced drinks, and a great food selection. Plus... Hosting drag nights does make this the place to go for many gay people in the city.

Pub with pub grub, however the place isn't very clean, some of the tables were not very clean and the toilets are not the best, no notice in the gents to say when it was last cleaned, and the floor was wet and sticky,. Wont be going back to this pub. The food tasted ok but the surroundings didn't make you feel like eating.

Ella is the star of Yates! She’s got a bubble personality and made some bangin cocktails. Her woo woo’s are lush. It’s not the cleanest place but amazing when you’ve had a few drink. My fav part is chatting to the staff they are so funny and love having a great time giggling away with each other. The atmosphere is great and the door staff make sure you’re safe xx

Everytime I visit York shopping,I call in here 1st thing for a breakfast, always grab a window table over looking the river,Great service & great tasty good value breakfast for your money which includes a hot drink ! I find the traditional breakfast (sausage,bacon,beans,mushrooms,grilled tomato,fried egg, hash brown & slice of toast with a coffee, )for just £4.49p gives you a nice start for the day ahead.

Staff seemed okay while dining in for our lunch, however had very little interaction with them as ordered on the app. I think the app could do with a bit of changes for example with the drinks having an option if ice is required or not and with the burgers having an option for the salad and sauce rather then it coming automatically with the burger. Only a small change but something that I think would be beneficial. The food however was good, really tasty burger, and liked how the chips come in a seperate bowl from the burger. The tables looked regularly cleaned by the staff members.

What a great place - breakfast, lunch and dinner ! We visited York some time ago and we spent a lot of time at Yates. Not regreting a single minute or a single penny. Great place for refreshments on a sunny day as the courtyard is a real suntrap. Everything else is as you would expect from a chain: drinks are reasonably priced, but not the cheapest, food is one step up from fast food and the staff don't appear to be keen to do a good job. The location is probably its best asset with the courtyard at one end and the river at the other.

I’ve been here a bunch, especially for karaoke night (occasionally Drag night when i’m free). It’s always got an amazing atmosphere - the staff are lovely and the array of events on leave something for everyone. I’ve been when it’s it’s been super busy and the staff are swamped but they always seem to be smiling and happy, which is a nice change to a bunch of other places in york. Big fan and will deffo be back again - Side note: i love how welcoming and lgbt*+ welcoming it is here, big fan :)

There should always be a member of staff behind the bar, 4 people waiting while the duty barman cleared plates. If you haven't got enough staff, don't open, you are a bar not a cafeteria. The opening time given should be changed from 9am to...when we are ready. On more than one occasion we have turned up just after 9 and it's closed. This morning a young girl came to the door and said...We're not ready to open yet and we don't know when we will be. I’ve just been in for a swift pint before heading out for a meal, we were served by a young lad with ginger hair, I believe his name is Lewis as told by a member of staff who seemed a little bit abrupt. Anyway, his service was brilliant, he seemed to be struggling with the layout of the bar, and possibly new to the pub and hospitality as a whole. However his service skills and chat were great! I feel he didn’t quite have the supported needed from his team, and they seemed to be reluctant to talk to him & help, maybe not happy with the fact he was a little slow at times searching for spirits, but he seemed to be trying his best, he was lovely, brilliant service and did what he could at the correct speed! Thanks Lewis :)

Nice atmosphere and was very busy on a Saturday afternoon. Door staff a little over zealous with a group in front of us. A young couple out with what looked like their parents. Didn't allow the young lady in as her passport was out of date! Door guy even said I can tell it's you but it's out of date so I can't accept it! Thought it was a pub not a UK boarder control desk, plus it worth remembering this is only to enter the venue, not actually order a drink! Drinks are very expensive by comparison to every other place we visited this weekend. Won't be rushing to return when we next visit York.

Rather early when we called,wife wanted toilet and then do some shopping, l wanted a beer and couldn't be bothered about shopping. Pint of T.T. Landlord l decided on ,the bartender , not sure where he was from , gave me a pint that consisted of at least 1/5th froth and at £4.50 l considered it not on. As l stood at the bar looking at the offering l was eventually asked if l wanted it topping up! Which did cut down the froth considerably , but still not great and definitely not the best pint of Landlord l have ever had ,actually probably the worst. Atmosphere at that time ,around 10.30 not great , bit cold and uninspiring, suppose that was to do with it ,but compared to Wetherspoons Punch Bowl, which was packed and inviting and which we had left 30 mins earlier ,no contest.

The english breakfasts was ok, but the toasts were burned black, the tea cup was dirty and stinky. Was here on the 18th January for some lunch with my dad and sister and had a lovely time. The food was really good and the service was excellent. My sister was a bit disappointed that there was no noodles but it was explained that they're in the process of switching to a new menu, so it was understandable, she also still enjoyed her burger. We had table service by Hayley W who was absolutely lovely. I would definitely visit again!

A bit of a mixed interior but it seemed to cater for all ages. One setback is that the gents is miles away from one end of the the bar and up two flights of stairs, however the beer was ok and the place was clean.

A pleasant atmosphere, I went here for a light lunch. I wasn't so impressed with the food quality though. I had a ham & cheese sandwich, curly fries and a coke. The curly fries was an added extra so I had to pay another £1 for those. This is fine, I'm quite happy to do so. The quantity of fries I received was unsatisfactory - half a small mug. The bread on the sandwich was as dry as a bone and the glass I had been given my coke in had lipstick all over it. I won't be returning for food in the future.

The place is lovely and the food is. The only problem was ordering my food. I'm gluten intolerant and it took me a while to explain to the staff what I was wanting. I think the staff were a bit confused by the gluten situation. I brought my own bread so I could have the fillings and make my own sandwich. But they thought I wanted them to toast my bread. The staff were lovely enough it was just a struggle. It's a shame because the gluten free menu was good and the place is lovely inside. Maybe a bit of allergy training because I realize it can be hard to understand them if you don't suffer with them

Food here is absolutely delicious and prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend the mixed grill if you're feeling hungry - steak, chicken breast, gammon, chips, peas and eggs for £9ish. Staff are friendly, serving times aren't amazing but it is a pub as well as a restaurant so it's understandable. Don't go there for a drink though, it makes up for cheap food with expensive drinks - £2.75 for a Coke! Atmosphere is quite modern and is pleasant, especially the riverside window seats. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good place to eat 'til you're full.

Not a bad pub, not very clean, menus stuck together, two terrible cobbled entrances, and for a full time wheelchair user they were terrible, and honestly dangerous to use!. Beer was expensive! Coors £4.40, but cocktails were two for £9., busy pub, food looked ok, but we didn't eat there because of the hygiene issues we had with the tables and menus,as while we were there the tables never got wiped, and some glasses were taken but some plates were left, won't be going in there again!.

The bouncer on the door was asking everybody to curb any language and be sensitive to any families as it is a family establishment, which is a fare comment.
