As a former student I’ll say something that most of my peers can agree on: MOST agencies in Bournemouth go out of their way to screw students and take them for every pound they’ve got. Clifftons gave us our first positive experience in using a rental agency. Their staff was unbelievably patient and helpful. Shoutout in particular to Shaznay who helped us out with everything while we stayed. Responsiveness to maintenance problems was always quick. Even when checking out, we received a much larger amount of our deposit back than we expected, given that we forgot to notify that we were not renewing our tenancy at the end of the month. It’s important to highlight the few good agencies out there that actually do their best to help out tenants, and not just find ways to help landlords take their deposits.

I was looking for a property to rent without speaking English and you have experience with it because I have always lived in a room in London and this is less bureaucratic. My problems ended when I met Hanna, the brokerage house Clifftons. She had all the patience with me, always good-humored, smiling and competent. We used Clifftons when selling our house. From start to finish the staff were professional, helpful and informative. James came over to the house to introduce himself and talk us through what they offered, fees were made clear from the beginning and information was transparent. There was absolutely no pressure to list our property with this agent, and we were simply given a card and told if we wanted anything further to ring them, so we did! James then promptly came back to measure and take pictures, and our house was available to view on all the online markets (right move etc) the same day. We even had a viewing on the property the day BEFORE it was officially listed. James sold our house for full asking price within 48 hours of it being on the market. I dealt mostly with a lovely lady named Rosie Dominey throughout the sale until completion. Rosie was just so easy to reach and communicate with, made the whole process slick and stress free (as much as moving house can be!) Clifftons have been my agent for about 9 months now following problems I had with a previous agent. Although there were one or two set up issues including a payment problem initially caused by my own personal error, both before and since finding my first tenant family, I have consistently found the Clifftons staff including the younger ones,to be professional and personable. Being a landlord is not easy and understanding building and maintenances issues isn't either and while it would be great if letting staff had a deep understanding of these things, despite 20 years experience and now being to do undertake many building jobs personally, I am still learning myself, so one needs to be realistic in what one expects of others. As a landlord,what matters is whether your representatives communicate with you and everybody else effectively and honestly and whether you believe they are trying to honour the terms of the agreements between each party. This might all seem obvious but having dealt with various agents for different properties in different regions and indeed countries over the years, I can attest is isn't. Over recent months, Property Manager, Hannah Watson has become my point of contact and as with her colleagues , I have found it a refreshing change to deal with somebody devoid of arrogance and attitude. Is Clifftons a 5 star agent ? - no, call me an old cynic but I'm not sure such a thing exists but 4 stars doesn't seem unreasonable. I look forward to working with them over the months and years ahead................
